agree (see below)
I - Install APX (NVFlash Recovery) Drivers if not already installed. It starts a device driver wizard to help you install the drivers needed for NVFlash. It detects your system OS and gives on-screen instructions if running Windows 8. FYI the drivers are located under ToolKitFiles\nvflash\driver folder.

Prepare Phone
-Power down phone
-Remove battery
-Hold VOL_DWN+VOL_UP & plug in USB connection from computer (note, your phone will not visibly respond but it will boot to APX mode quickly)
-Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error, or not if you have used NVFlash before
-Right click on the APX device
-Select 'Update driver software'
-Select 'Browse my computer...'
-Select 'Let me pick...'
-Select 'Have disk'
-Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to above (It's included in Stefan's zip)
-Select 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'
-Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC)
-Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat
Install the rom:
- Go to the folder where you unpacked Stefans rom
- Run Windows installer and follow instructions on screen, should be peace of cake for everyone!
- DONE

I think you should try either updating your drivers for the phone and if that doesn't work, try an older version then.

Ok I've the Russian fastboot ROM installed on the phone and in the process and this is as far as I get
Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>fastboot.exe flash recovery C:\misc.img
(and I've tried the other recovery.img also)
< waiting for device >
I've tried that plugging in and out of different USB drives as suggested by a few people
I've a feeling it's something to do with the drivers, could someone please post a link to the suitable drivers for this, because whenever I plug it in it say "new Device found: Android" and then I click on the bubble and try to install the suggested driver but it fails to find any driver for it.

[Q] Problem Rooting LG Optimus 2x

Hi all,
So I've tried lots of forums on here about how to root my LG Optimus 2x but keep running into the same problem. Here are the steps I've been following:
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-09-23\APX.
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.
I'm on a Windows 7 32 bit PC. When I check for an APX device in the Device manager I don't see one?
I do see an unknown device but when I try to click have disk etc for this, it does not recognise the drivers I'm pointing at and does not install. Can anyone help me with this?
Many thanks,
Derek
What version are you on? Froyo or Gingerbread? It seems you are flashing CWM but that's a longer way to root. You could always try Super one click, which works on froyo.
Yes, I am on 2.2. So Superoneclick is safe to use?
Absolutely. I used it when I was on froyo. Do you have any sensitive data however on your phone? Just in case you mess up, it's always good to have a backup of it. Probably hook up your USB cable to your pc/laptop and copy/paste the files to be safe.
Ok, thanks. So I have rooted the phone using SuperOneClick. Can you send me a link where I can find information about how to put on Gingerbread 2.3 now? Or maybe there is a better ROM I can use that that? Any advice would be appreicated.
Thanks,
Derek
You can try Cyanogen Mod, but that is experimental, even the RC one (Release Candidate).
You can try other leaked versions of ROMs, or you can download the latest v10L Gingerbread release. Before installing any ROM, I recommend doing a CWM or Nandroid backup.
The link to download gingerbread (it's only out in a few countries in Europe) is located in the development sub section of the LG 2x forums. However, try using the update tool and see if it tells you that you have an update.
I seem to have a bit of a problem. I took your advice and found a forum that helped me to do a Nandroid Backup. As part of the steps it asked me to install ROM manager from the Market. I started this and chose my phone model. I started the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery’ in the ROM manager but it stopped and said a permissions error occured. Then I tried to open other programs but they wouldn't open. I tried to reboot the phone but now it just flashes on the LG logo and won't boot up. Please help me with this.
Hello people on this great forum i am new here so i salud you all.

[Q] How to install NVflash on windows 7 64bit

HI!
I want to install the brand new stock ICS build by Stefan Gündhör using NVflash (coming from stock 2.3.4). I followed the linked instructions on modaco (can´t post links) and installed the APX-drivers but discovered that i can´t run the NVflash.exe when i tried to test it, because i´ve got win7 64-bit OS on my pc?
I searched and read lots of threads but couldn´t find an answer.. I know this is a noob questions but does someone know how to make it run properly?
Thank you

I am on Win7 x64 and everything worked like a charm.
Have you tried running "flashme.bat" in the folder?
Installation NVFlash version (under Windows): = Full wipe, and also wipes Internal SD (not External though)
download the ROM, unpack it with WinRar, 7Zip or similar to any folder you want
take battery out of phone, press VOL + AND VOL - simulataneously, and while doing this plug the phone via USB to your PC
screen of phone remains black, this is normal, but you should hear a sound that you plugged the device. Probably you have to install APX drivers at this point if you are asked.
assuming that you already installed APX drivers: run the "flashme.bat" file in the folder where you extracted the ROM
if your device is properly connected, a terminal window will be opened for some minutes, showing the Flashing progress
once flashing is done, the window closes or notifies you that it is finished. Wait 30 seconds and then unplug phone, put battery back in and boot your brand new ICS!
That's already it No complications to be feared. Enjoy!

installed nvflash without a problem just few hours ago on win7 x64...
domfis explained the procedure well...
btw if your APX drivers weren't installed properly - try going into "My computer > properties > device manager" and check if there is an "!" under APX device (or something) - if it is > manually install the drivers from your hard drive (and specified folder where you've extracted the apx drivers)
hope we helped...

[Q] need help if someone can...

ok i tryied to use all in one tool and i want to flash to ics to my thrill but as far as i got is on the tool it goes to stage 2 but waiting for device stays there even after i do place to battery in it.. it acts all over again as if it cant find the driver for cosmo i think that is what it is called....but im running windows 7
When it says waiting on device try pulling out the usb and then plug it right back in. I use to have to do that, but if that doesn't work then it may be a driver issue.
Maybe start the tool and when it says waiting for omap4430 device, hold down vol+ and plug in your phone but don't let go of vol+. Pop in battery like normal and it should boot you into download mode. See if that helps get your LG Cosmo driver to install, though it should install as LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT. if that doesn't happen, as a last resort uninstall all LG mobile drivers, reboot cpu, download the files from step 1 and step 5 of this post---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39269819 (bag of goodies and wkparks 1.21) Turn off your anti virus and windows defender before doing anything. Once thats done unzip the two files mentioned above. Run the omap flash installer and re install both Sets of LG mobile drivers in the bag of goodies package (second set will pop up a warning for unsigned drivers a few times; hit YES do it anyways, and then re install omap by directing the driver update to the windows drivers folder in the wkparks bootloader1.21 tool. Hopefully this helps.
Here is a much better explaination from drastic00's tutorial. Follow these steps to the T and you should be flashing in no time
" A) Uninstall any LG Drivers:
a1) Open Programs and Features through Control Panel
a2)Find any drivers called "LG United Mobile Driver." Right click and select Uninstall, let it work.
a3)Reboot your pc!
B) Be sure you disabled antivirus/Windows Defender, etc. before unpacking these files.
C) Install OMAP4430 by running "OMAPFlashInstaller."
NOTE: if you have Fastboot installed SKIP this step (if you don't know, you don't have it...), but DO link the driver as in f4.
D) Install the two LG Drivers in the “LG United Mobile Drivers” folder: These are “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497CA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1. 0” and “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497MA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1. 0” The second one will warn it is unsigned, choose to install anyway (you will have to insist on this a few times here).
E)Reboot your pc!
F)Install PC/phone drivers:
f1)Shut down your phone. Remove external sd card, SIM card and battery.
f2) Open Device Manager from Control Panel
f3) Hold volume up on phone and connect to USB port. Keep holding volume up.
f4)Look for "OMAP4430" blinking on and off in Device Manager with a yellow question mark under "Other Devices." (You can let go of the phone). If you do not see it, look for "TI Boards" blinking in device manager and quickly open the arrow. Then uninstall that OMAP4430 (right click, check box to uninstall device and driver, confirm), disconnect phone and reconnect with volume up. Then...
f.4.1) You will need to 'catch' OMAP4430 (with yellow question mark) by right-clicking on it when it appears under "Other Devices." Choose "Update Driver Software."
f.4.2) Pick "Browse my computer for driver software." Then "Let me pick..."
f.4.3) Leave "All..." selected under Devices. Then "Have Disk."
f.4.4) Navigate to the omap4boot-for_optimus-v1.21 folder and choose "omap_winusb" in the usb_drv_windows folder.
f.4.5) Windows will warn the driver is unsigned. Install anyway. An OMAP4430 device should appear under the list of devices. Confirm the selection. Let the driver install.
f.4.6) Disconnect the phone and again reconnect with volume up held.
f5) You should see a popup at the bottom of your screen about drivers (the LG USB drivers) installing. (If you do not see it, disconnect phone, reboot your pc, and again connect it without battery while holding volume up). When you do see drivers installing, let go of the volume button. Click the popup to see the progress. Let it finish.
f6) Look for “LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT” in Device Manager. Right click on it and go to Properties
f7) Select the "Port Settings" tab and click 'Advanced'.
f8) Change 'COM Port Number:' to COM41. Click OK, then OK again.
f9) Disconnect your phone from the PC." (From drastic00's noob tutorial)

You can fix this by removing the driver installed by zadig from the Control Panel.
Disconnect your device from the computer and do the following:
1. Open command prompt
2. type "set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1". This will allow Device Manager to show installed devices even if they are not connected.
3. type "devmgmt.msc" . This will open up Device Manager
4. Click View > Show Hidden Devices
5. Check under libusbk or libusb0 (depending on what you did in zadig)
6. Right click and uninstall your device (if the device was in Download Mode when you replaced the driver e.g. for heimdall, then look for MSM****)
7. Close Device Manager.
Reconnect your device; Windows should automatically detect the "new" device and install proper drivers for it.
