[Q] Vibration isuue - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys i have a curious issue with my razr,
My vibration stops working normal.
When i use the haptic feedback of navigation buttons or keyboard, first i have vibration working, but after 5 seconds, any vibration works :/, even notification.
But, this is curious, i snap a little the phone, only a little, it works again for a few minutes.
Thats weird isnt?
Im on Omars rom, but i prove it on stock ics, stock jb, omars rom and pillama roms.
Any ideas?

Vibration Issue
Hello friend, I'm also with this same problem in the vibration of the phone, when I'm typing any message vribration and it stops after a few minutes back to work, today it happened 3 times this happened with 2 rooms that also tested.
I'm currently with stock 4.1.2 and is having the same problem, if someone from the forum can help.
Thank you.

Vibration Razr i problem
Hi guys,
I have the same problem. My Razr i stops vibrating, but if I shake the device, it vibrates again for a few seconds or after some haptic feedback on the menu|home|back buttons. Seems to be a vibration module (motor, engine) problem, because sometimes it vibrates sometimes it doesn't.
I posted this message because I've been searching all the forum and other places on the internet and couldn't find any answers to this issue.
If anyone has any clue to solve this issue please help us!

I have the Same Problem .... my razr is 11month old... Vibrator Hardware bug...

My Razr is 10 months old. My wife's also and hers never had any problem related to vibratior hw.

Vibration issues
Anyone solved this issue?
For me, seems like the vibrations are getting back on as soon as I shake the phone a bit, but then the vibrations will stop again eventually. Even it can happen to miss a phone call when I am at work and the phone is on silent/vibrate mode.
I think it might be a hardware issue, some problem with the motor/vibrator.
Please let me know if anyone managed to solve this.
Thanks.

Unfortunatelly, the only way to solve this problem is to send the phone to a Motorola Repair Center or any other mobile repair center. As long as I know, it's a vibrator unit fault.
Mine Razr i still was under the warrant period, so I could get the repair for free.

I think my phone repair itself , i dont know how but since one week or two the vibration comes back like before....and repeat...i dont know why.

A user in our German forum solved the issue by oiling the vibration motor

Confirm the solution, I did the same thing. A few microliters (?) WD40 has done wonders for the unstable vibration motor . With the tip of the needle was injected to vibra axis of the lubricant. WD40 - fix everything
But care should be taken to avoid contact with the ribbon cables because "eat" them !!!

Haptic feedback
Seems like i have the same problem, sometimes it will stop working then frantically vibrate as the phone catches up., restarting my phone seems to normally fix it.

Xperia Z vibration problem (experiment was done and detailed explainations given)

I realized that my Xperia Z's vibrator will stop working after an "intense" work or overheated...
for example, i turned on the "vibrate on touch" option, and then keep pressing any key (let's say the Home virtual key), i can feel that the vibration strength will get weaker and weaker, and finally stops.
at this point, the vibrator wouldn't work, no matter how. Neither in Service Test, switching on/off phone (i believe these cannot be altered by the user)
Then if I leave the phone there for a while, the vibrator will start working again, and if i repeat the experiment (pressing Home key), the number of times the phone would vibrate is fewer ( e.g. the phone vibrated ~30 times before stopped working at the first test, then it stopped working after ~10 times at the second test).
Interestingly, the vibrator would work again immediately if i shaked the phone (even straight after it was "dead"), but the length of time it came back "alive" is even shorter.
And it seems that the vibrator functionality also depends on how i hold the phone... by making it flat (screen facing sky), the vibrator seems to work better and longer.
I also found that the vibrator would stop working when the phone is being charged, but i am not so sure if it was caused by charging or the heating up of the phone as it went quite warm when charing. When I unplugged the phone, the vibrator didn't came back alive immediately, so I washed it with cold water (hey it's water proof !) and the vibrator worked again!
I have tried Factory Reset, and re-installing the firmware via Update Service but the phenomenon still exists.
It's kind of weird, and i hope some technitians could give reasons of this behavior. To me it's like the vibrator needs some time to settle down, the damping isn't efficient. Or, the current is too high so it cuts the flow to the vibrator for safety reason?
maybe some xda developers could check the codes and see how the vibrator behaves?
I hope there isn't a faulty of my phone, I really don't want to send it to the service centre for a body-check....
Thanks

I'm facing the same problem, the vibration works occasionally , and there is a lot of people with this problem, I will wait for now waiting a fix, some people here confirm that the problem disappeared after 2 days of use. How old is yours?

new update:
i did some more tests. and i found that:
1. vibrator stopped working during charging once the phone's temperature rised above 30 degrees (actually vibration kept working for a few times before completely dead). and even it then cooled down to below 30 degrees, the vibrator was still dead (still in charging, cable plugged in). and vibrator came back alive immediately when unplugged (at this moment the temperature was 28 degrees). but if the temperature went above 30, unplugging wouldn't bring the vibrator back to life, and i had to leave the phone there for a while.
2. at any temperature, continuously pressing the soft keys (with haptic feedback switch on) VERY quickly (i mean like pressing it 10 times in one second that quickly), or just go to Service Test -> vibrator and set the vibration time to something LONG (e.g. 90000), the vibrator worked for a while then died. then if i gave it a break (~10 mins) of gave it a shake, vibrator came back alive again.
3. no matter what caused the death of vibrator (point 1 or 2), if I could cool the phone down very rapidly, i.e. I put it in cold water, the vibrator would come back alive.
4. the cooler the phone is, the stronger and longer working time of the vibration (as in point 2)
so i guess it's the temperature that causing this problem, seems like a hardware issue (because my X10 doesn't behave like this), probably the circuit isn't connected properly.

mine is nearly a month old. i didn't notice this problem until a few days ago. so i cannot comfirm if it was already like this when i bought it.
i think we should gather all the complaining posts of this issue and send it to Sony (at least before we send it to service centre for repairing).
push up

same problem for me :crying:
I have the exact same problem.
Can someone with a custom ROM confirm this? I'm wondering if it's hardware or software related.
@ hamud.q
After one month of waiting, finally the phone will be replaced with a new one! Apparently here in Bulgaria in the service dоn't try to fix the phone (if it's a hardware problem) and directly replace it with a new phone...
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

[Q] One calling last dialed contact from my pocket

5 times over the last few days my phone has called the last dialed contacts while sitting in my phone. I think it's something to do with removing the headphones (stock) while Spotify is playing as the last two times that's when it happened but it may be a coincidence as I can't replicate it.
Has anyone had this happen or heard of something similar?

I had a similar problem that unlocked the lockscreen with just tapping the screen anywhere. Could it be that your phone is doing the same?

I'm not too sure what makes the lockscreen behave like that as I couldn't diagnose the problem properly.
Here's what i did just before the phone stopped doing it:
First I completely turned off the phone by long pressing the power button until the timer ran outThen I pressed the VOL- key while still holding the power button to go into bootloaderOnce in the bootloader I simply booted into recoveryFinally from recovery just held down power until phone booted up againI'm not sure which step fixed it for me if bootloader, recovery or simply completely turning off the phone but after i did that the lockscreen went back to normal.
I suggest you try every one of the steps once in order to better evaluate which step fixes this (if it fixes them at all)
Let me know how you get on
Tried those steps, unfortunately my lockscreen is acting as it did before. But thank you for your help

I wonder why the lockscreen does that and if we are the only ones that have the problem

Are sure your not pressing play/pause on your headset twice . That dials the last number.

Thanks for the tip its good to know, hopefully someone will find some other way to fix it without losing apps and data
If you're experiencing the bug where pressing anywhere on your One's lockscreen causes it to unlock, you've prolly got an app installed that has an Accessibility Service component to it. If you have any Accessibility Service enabled, it will cause this bug. (Light Flow and the Pebble smartwatch apps are 2 common apps that use an Accessibility Service).
On your phone go to Settings: Accessibility and look under Services. If anything there is enabled, disable it and that should stop the lockscreen from behaving this way.
This bug will also cause the phone to answer any incoming call if you press anywhere on the lockscreen while your phone is receiving a call.

I'm not aware of any way to fix it, unfortunately. Wish I knew a way, believe me, because this issue is keeping me from using the full functionality of my Pebble smartwatch with my HTC One. :crying:
I've actually mentioned this bug to a couple of HTC employees in a thread on Reddit here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1d6we1/hello_from_htc/?limit=500
and one of them has already brought this to the attention of some HTC engineers, so hopefully it will be fixed with a future update!

Cheers, it's almost certainly the pebble doing it then; it's seemingly happening whenever I pull out headphones that have a microphone and button, while music is playing through Spotify and my pebble is connected.

thanks for the info, this has been driving me crazy as well.
i have found that killing the lockscreen with a task killer will revert it back to pull to unlock for a while for some reason.

Call disconnect

hi everyone, i had upgraded my 4x HD to jellybean by LG pc suite and it seems very good, after 2 days a big f*** problem appeared, when i call anyone or received a call, at any time ,i can hear the another person and he can't, it may be takes 20 seconds or 2 min then the line cut out. this problem appeared after upgrade the mobile to jellybean. if there any solution for that ?????
Factory reset test sound again and see if there is any improvement.

I had the aame problem, and some other members too. We narrowed it down to voip communication (Skype , viber) causing the issue. I recommend kitkat roms, havent had any issues on kitkat regarding that.
A workaround is to trigger speakerphone, then back to normal, mic should work again for some time
i tried to do factory reset and nothing change :s :s

[Q] Weird noise from either the speaker or vibration motor

Has anyone else been having weird noise issues with the phone when using the on screen keyboard with haptic feedback enabled?
occasionally, once every 5-10 letter inputs the phone produces a weird noise (similiar to the noise the phone makes when it vibrates, but louder with slightly higher pitch). I only began to notice this after the latest update.
It sounds like it is coming from the speaker
Mine started a few days ago with the same funny but annoying noise. Did you find a solution?
I have the same problem. It was getting louder and louder so I just disabled haptic feedback altogether.
Hi , had the same problem, a month ago. Turns out , as per Sony repair center the vibrator motor was not in place. Turns out this was all bull****. Cause they could'nt get it right , and had to replace the phone eventually.

Oh snap, I've still been using my phone with that problem, but I think it may be software related because it started after the 4.3 update and also sometimes it stops works altogether but if I restart my phone, it's back to normal.

I had the problem when I first bought the phone, although I don't hear it anymore now though. Maybe the "motor" got into its place when I dropped my phone onto a concrete floor.

Hi Bro,
Personally , i would take it back to Sony. Started off being an intermittent problem on mine, eventually no amount of reboots or flashing 4.3 or 4.4 ftf would stop the noise.
I assume Sony know , its an issue so that's why they swapped my phone without question.

Tap To Wake Stops Working

Anybody notice that tap to wake intermittently stops working? I'm thinking that it happens when the phone has been sitting untouched for some time but I'm not sure. Maybe it is designed like this to save battery?
When the tap to wake doesn't work does face unlock stop working too?
If so it's a known problem

My problem exactly! I'm new to the 4XL, has this been a long-standing problem? Has Google already acknowledged the problem, and are they going to patch it? I have been restarting my phone 2 or 3 times a day. I was beginning to think it was defective. So glad I saw this post.

I have this problem but not as bad as you. I normally have to restart my phone every 2-3 days due to this problem. I've spoken to someone a Google, they said that I have to see if a factory reset fixes the issue, (but it is very unlikely as many users have reported that it doesn't), if the problem still persists then I will have to send it to them to get a replacement. The person told me they don't know what causes the problem and don't have a solution. I don't see how a replacement is a good option considering that will probably become faulty to if they don't have a fix for it.
