[Q] Blinkfeed pet peeve / feature request - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hey All -
Sprint HTC One bought on launch day. Love it so far. If anyone has any suggestions on this pet peeve, post it up:
-Battery life is critical to me, so I opted to make my a clear panel (screen) my "Home" screen. With the Blinkfeed as the home screen, it refreshes the feeds each time you unlock the screen. When it's not the default, it only refreshes when you go to that screen or do the 'pull down'
-When Blinkfeed is your home screen, you can scroll down several screens, then if you hit the Home button, it'll scroll you all the way to the top
-IF Blinkfeed is NOT the default Home screen, the only way to get back to the top is scroll and scroll...which becomes annoying if you get >5 screens down your feed.
So, for any devs up to the challenge, can you tweak/add something like the following:
a. an invisible "fast scroll" bar on the right for scrolling back up
b. When Blinkfeed is NOT the Default home, still make the home button jump all the way back to the top
c. (my favorite) A two finger down swipe (gesture) takes the feed to the very top
Discuss. Thanks -

Blinkfeed top tip: you can tap the notifications bar to scroll back to the top. I think this also works for other scenarios (apps drawer is one I know).

Freakin' awesome....thank you. Guess they borrowed that feature from apple....

Additionally, there is this mod which enables the back button to scroll to top.

Also if you tap Home button it will scroll back to the top.

This doesn't work if BlinkFeed is not your home screen. The home button will scroll to your home screen in this case

[Q] Clean home screen

Hello
Purchased my Galaxy note several days ago.
I'd like to know if it's possible to make or 'create' a home screen without any widgets and/or shortcuts. I just want to see my wallpaper on it. In case need a shortcut I'd like to switch to another homescreen where i've configured the shortcuts I need.
Thanks in advance!
Sure, it's possible.

Yes, of course you can! You are allowed upto 7 homscreens in the default Touchwiz UI. All you have to do is select one which has no widgets or shortcuts and have it as your default screen. You can also manually delete widgets and shortcuts by holding the widget and dragging it to the bottom of the screen (dustbin icon).

To preview all your homescreens pinch inwards (similar to pinch to zoom out)..

If you want a completely clean screen, you may have to use another launcher. I use ssLauncher, and it can do that. Others can too, I am sure.
Actually, you can get rid of them. Just tap on applications button from home screen (bottom right button) > menu button > edit > slide bottom buttons away and voila
If you do this, make sure at least the applications button is somewhere on another home screen.
Don't think it's very practical, though.

At this point I have 2 homescreens left. One with the application button at the bottom and the widgets and shortcuts I use most and one with only my wallpaper but still the application button visible at the bottom. As you can understand I want to get rid of the application bottom at the last mentioned homescreen, but that doesn't seem to work. Tapping on the application button the application menu opens, but the application button then is no longer visible and it is changed in the homepage-button.
you might want to look into the app called SwipePad
its awesome for minimalistic homescreen with LOTS of options for quick app access

Thanks for the tip....but I'd prefer to accomplish this without installing an app that changes my lay-out and graphics and also changes it to English. I don't have problems with this language, but I'm Dutch, so I want my phone keep it that way.

Buttons navigation for The new HTC One ?

The new HTC One has been released. However, only 2 visible button is presented. Home and back button. So do anyone know how the HTC One to access the other functions like "Multi-task" and "Menu" ? Is the "hTC" icon in the bottom of the phone also a functionable button?

From what I just read, double-tap on home brings up recent apps. Not sure about the menu though...it probably uses the 3-dot menu standard in ics and above.
If you ask me, I'd say they should've ditched the buttons or whatever they're called and just put some extra screen real estate and give us a software/onscreen navigation bar.

Double tapping home gives you the recent apps while holding down home will launch you to Google now. I'm not sure about the menu system. Its probably the 3 dot system like the above post.
Yes no one seems to know how to access the menu.
Access menu is the 3 dot on screen, just like htc one x

[Q] New from iOS - help understanding two app screens

Greetings,
Happy to report that I grabbed an HTC One this morning and will be moving over from my iPhone 5. I've had every iPhone and at the same time a Nexus 7 tablet so I have some familiarity with Android.
My question is: It the intent that the user will use the apps on the screen that supports wallpaper or the other apps (icons) screen that things appear to toggle between when selecting the centered grid like button?
Thanks!
R
The one with the wallpaper is the home screen, the idea is that you add widgets and your apps to your home screen however you see fit. This way you can check the weather, news, emails, messages etc by just scrolling through the screens. Have a play around with it, it's a far better system than iOS
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Also, you can set the "wallpaper" home screen as your "go-to" home page, instead of blinkfeed.
Long press anywhere on an empty part of one of the wallpaper home pages. You'll see the ability to add widgets with all your home screens at the top.
Longpress the second one from the left, and you'll see an option (it pops up above the mini home screens) to set that page as your home.
Swing the page (while you've long pressed it) over that option and it will be your new homepage.
You have options

Is long-pressing home very much preferable to the default way of doing this (double-tapping home)?

I my self would definitely prefer a long press rather than having to double tap. Sometimes I miss the second two and just go home but would have no problems with a long press.

Any solution to this? I'd like to make long-press home as the multi-tasking view and disable double-press home entirely (don't care about google now).
On the new 4.2.2 long press is now the menu button, double tap home is the recent apps like before and press, hold, and swipe up is the Google now

Yea I just saw this when I flashed to a 4.2.2 ROM. The thing I want to disable is the double-tap home button as it makes the single-press home a bit laggy since it has to wait to see if the second button press of home is registered or not. I would rather the phone just instantly goes home when I press home which requires the double-tap home function to be disabled which is why I'd like to rebind the task-switcher to something else like long-press home.

It doesn't make it laggy, as it doesn't wait for the second tap. You can still do the second tap once it gets to the homescreen. If you think it's slow, you should see the Samsung Galaxy phones with their REAL homebutton lag

It does... this is exactly what I'm relating it to. On my S3 it had double-press home to go to the S-Voice app. Once I disabled that feature, the home button would be instant on the S3. Otherwise, it would be "waiting" for the 2nd press. It's the same thing with the HTC One... at least it feels like it.
And no, I can't still do the 2nd tap when I get to the home screen...

I can some people store more electrical charge in their fingers, guess you are lacking that 'zap'
In all seriousness, I don't have any lag and you can disable the double tap by editing the framework.jar

Lol... well I feel the vibration feedback of the 2nd tap but it just acts as me pressing the home screen again, not part of the 2nd press from the 1st. I've tried timing it very closely but I still can't get it to go home and then bring up the task switcher. I can just get it to go home, then go home again, or get the task switcher.
Disabling it is only half the battle... I still want to bind the task-switcher to long press but I lack the know-how to do it lol. Thought there would be something built into modaco's framework to do it but I don't see that level of button customization there yet.

Well you have to do it by placing your finger in the HTC logo on the bottom, and slide it up on the screen. Did you do that correctly perhaps?

Long press somewhere on your home screen where there is no icon, then select nova action then you'll find the app drawer icon.
