Go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020 Follow the instructions here to the letter and you'll have zero chance of failing the unlock process
A word of caution, most users experience failure due to improper Fastboot driver installation. It's more likely you will have to install the fastboot driver manually. So be sure to install them when your phone connected in ADB mode (or when your PC asks you to).

Yes, ESA-XXX is unlockable!

The above specified method is the official one by LG.
But, for some reason it did not work for me. (i am on ESA-XXX V20A)
So, follow this tutorial..
The same tutorial is explained in an easier (noob-friendly) way here.. :good:
After unlocking bootloader, install CWM Touch Recovery 6.0.3.1.. (.img included in the thread itself)
I have tested it myself and it works flawlessly..
Enjoy! :highfive:

The official method worked for me. Incredibly easy to do.
Anyway, the best way to unlock the bootloader is via Ubuntu or similar Linux OS.
No need to install drivers. You only need the Android SDK.

After all android is unix-based, too..

So how do I root my 2.2.1 Nexus One?

I just switched over to the Android side because my friends kept telling me how Android destroys Apple nowadays. My previous Iphone 4 got a little boring so I got a Nexus one. I just updated it to 2.2.1 but I've been hearing about how you can't root the 2.2.1 because of some patch google put in? Idk.. I'm new and I just wanna know how to root this thing?
Thanks!!
You can roll it back to 2.1, then root, then flash a custom recovery and an up-to-date ROM. Check out the stickies in the Development forum if you need directions on rolling back.
2.2.1 is easy to root with "rageagainstthecage" or unlock the bootloader so it can never be patched.

There was errors coming out via flashing a custom kernel in FlashTool for some custom ROMs in the forum. The thing was that I was trying to flash NobodyAtAll's/Nobody At All's nAa kernel on my Sony Ericsson Xperia X8i (E15i). They must fix this issue AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

What do you think has cause this error?
nAa kernel
or
Flashtool
Try older version of flashtool (0.2.9.1) to flash
To many people already asked about this! You can find you answer if you using search button. Btw use older flashtool ,like he mentioned above.

flash kernel via fastboot?
unlocked bootloader via Flashtool?
Here OP will do:
1.Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436924 .Take ur time and READ CAREFULLY every words in there to unlocking bootloader.
2.If everything successfully, flash costum kernel via X10 FLASHING TOOL in FLASHMODE not fastboot.
Then nobody should fixing anything after this.

Yes, it is. Every ROM i try to load with RSD fails, i don't know what to do. It really sucks, i'm afraid that there's no solution for this.
Did you remove the "get var" lines from the stock ROM before flashing? Did you use RSD within Myth Tools to flash or did you use RSD without going through Myth?

May be last OTA update had been done.,
Try attachment provided in the following thread
Unzip - copy "gpt_main0.bin" file and put it inside BELL or AT&T ROM (replace previous file - dont forget to take a backup of original)
Then Try RSDlite to flash the same.

It's because HTC allows you to unlock the bootloader without hacks, you can goto their website and do it yourself. Motorola does not have that option, which is one of the reasons I'll never buy another Motorola Device.
I think rooting the Motorola was easier. I successfully got my mb 886 done

FAQ
Code:
1. Where are the GAPPS?
- Gapps are already in the factory image, you don't have to worry about that.

3. Is this official release? -
Yes!
4. Do I need to have unlocked bootloader to install this?
- No you dont have to. Thank you fedevd for correcting me.

Sorry man , sounds like you are one of the ones stuck , basically to unlock the bootloader you need to select a toggle in developer options to allow oem unlock, which leaves you in a bad spot because you cant boot into the operating system. Did you lock your bootloader? or did it lock when you flashed 5.1.

I am exactly in the same situation as you are.
Check this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/fix-fix-qhusbbulk-cm12-t3059518/page16
Read the final 6 pages. Look for similarities. I am the one who can't be succesuful. As I read your situation, it look like the one I am having. While we are still in the bootloader and responds I think there should be a FIX somehow. Just be patient. If you are not in my situation, the probabilities to FIX your phone are very high, I hope you are not in my boat.

Please stop spreading misinformation
Firstly - that thread is not to force unlock a bootloader. It is to recover from a brick where the bootloader was broken and couldn't be used. The guy from Motorola who provided the fix in that very thread said this will not help unlock a bootloader.
Secondly - there are still no confirmed cases of this working to force unlock a bootloader. 1 guy was not in the same situation as you, so that can be discounted. The other guy hasn't said much. No one else has managed to recover from this. The probability is not very high as you say. It is extremely low.
