It should do. Please tell us the error you get. However, if you are trying to flash that ftf file you do not do it in pccompanion, you need flashtool

problem still comes
iam flashing with no problems with flashtool, and the ftf works fine on my phone, then i take it to sony pc companion and trying to update it with it.
then i get an error that custom firmware is installed

OK, if you have unlocked your bootloader you can no longer use pccompanion.
That would have been explained when you went through the process of unlocking the bootloader.

is it possible to lock it somehow again?

yes, search for relock bootloader xperia v
But your warrenty is void anyway now.

found one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092227
found one, and seems like it works.
*#*#7378423#*#* says that it is "Bootloader unlock allowed - Yes"
and it is now updating, think it works
thank you alot!
now i can finally get sony to repair my screen that they destroyed when i send it to them

Probably not. You have voided your warrenty when you unlocked and relocking the bootloader willnot hide that fact.
You gave them your IMEI number when you unlocked, and you modified your trim area (That's why you lost drm keys) and relocking does not restore the TA.
PS, No need to say thanks in a post, just use the button.

oh okay, so it didn't really matter that i reset it to factory, they will still just give me the same message...
damn Sony, i will never buy a phone from them again...
seriusly they destroyed my phone at their repair service, but now i just have to argue with them, don't think that XDA can help me with this anymore then done now.

well if sony broke the screen you may have a case to get them to fix it.
But it is very clearly stated that you lose warrenty when unlocking the bootloader. I think all carriers do the same (If they let you unlock at all, Sony are very good at this and this is why they have been voted xda's OEM of the year for the past few years because they are so Dev friendly)
You just need to read the fine print a bit more carefully I think

well i dont think that it's too clearly stated, when they write that you may void the warrenty, it doesn't say that i void the warrenty, only that i may void it.
hmm yearh, Sony isn't that bad at all, and their products work...
well think it will be alot easier now to talk with Sony about the problem now.
is there some way i should mark this thread as solved?

hmm now i get a new bug after i did this...
I can't install apps from google store, getting error 403.

[Q] Re-lock bootloader xperia t lt30p

Hi, I unlocked the bootloader on my xperia t lt30p one time with intention to root it and install custom roms but never did as I nearly bricked it when putting a kernel on. I managed to put what I think is a stock kernel and rom back on, but I went to update it the other day and pc companion says that it could not complete the operation because the phone has been modified. I read somewhere that having the bootloader unlocked can cause this, so I wish to re lock it. Could anyone point me in the direction of a good tutorial to do so? Cheers...

the link provided by our friend is quite good, that's where you have to head over
and about the tutorial, tha't so easy, just flash that FTF file via Flashtools
power off your phone, open flashtools, select flash logo, then FLASH MODE, then connect your phone as you are pressing down the VOLUME DOWN button, and let it do the rest
disconnect and enjoy your relocked bootloader
So I won't need to re flash the rom again? sorry. I'm a bit of a noob at phone modding. Pc's I can do. Not phones yet. Hahaha.
no, flash the relock ftf found in the dev section, and it just relocks your bootloader, your rom will stay the same

RElock won't affect you rom, BUT if you unlcok AGAIN, then at the very first start up of the phone when it is the first time after RE-UNlocking, it will have a factory reset
just wanted to let you know
but for now, NO, it won't touch your firmware
Just done it. Worked. Cheers guys,

Doomkernel questions

I've recently flashed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448613 and was just wondering can I still update via Pc companion/SEUS to new firmwares/updates without losing the kernel, root etc...like will it replace the kernel with a stock one?
I'm a noob at Flashing and search didn't really answer my question.
If you have unlocked your bootloader by the official method at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com, then you can not use PC Companion or SEUS to update firmware.

If your bootloader is unlocked, there is no way to use pc companion or seus to update firmware unless you relock it
Thankyou for the replies, I might try to relock my bootloader. I unlocked it through the official Sony method.

Unlocking bootloader doesn't have anything to do with waterproofness, it's something done using a computer.

Obviously. In order to access test points, the back cover will have to be removed. The back cover uses tape/gasketing to enforce waterproofing. My question was about whether someone has actually looked into a testpoint unlock yet for the XZ1.

[Q] How to backup TA, MAC and IMEI with unlocked BL?

Greetings to everyone
I have already unlocked BL & rooted my 4.3 xperia Z1 with CWM recovery installed... the camera and everything works fine
So, how to backup TA, MAC and IMEI with unlocked BL? I want to avoid any furthur losing possibility of them
Sorry If this a repeated question but I have searched a lot before posting this
thank you
You can't Backup your TA if you Unlocked your Bootloader. You lost your DRM keys permanently. You will not be able to re-lock you bootloader and you are not covered by your warranty. Sorry but you should read carefully before do anything.
Yeah, too late, you should have done this before the unlock....

oh.. thank you

You don't have to avoid anything just read carefully everything when you try to do something. My advice is now to wait for the confirmed and safe way to root or update. In your position you already lost the safest way so I will root, update or flash custom roms to enjoy the phone but remember, it's your own risk and responsability.
Ive done the same, came from HTC.....so I will still have all tge features unless I flash say cm11 and try to go back to a Sony based rom?

You can't root this version directly.
You have 2 options.
1) Unlock bootloader.
2) Downgrade to 4.2, root via vroot then upgrade.
More details here.

@chunlianghere, @thalada, What are you doing People? From all the links just one is correct, for .290. Also NEVER give advice to Unlock Bootlader because users cannot be aware of the risk doing this like lose Permanently DRM Keys and Warranty, FOREVER. Because if you do not advice of the risk someone can Unlock the Bootloader then lose DRM keys and if so it will NEVER be relocked and warranty will be void permanently, so before give advice learn what is all about!
@SpawnCube, the .136 cannot be rooted directly but can be Rooted with the method by NUT for Locked Bootloader. If your Model is C6903 you can downgrade directly to .534 with FW provided by NUT to not lose IMEI, then Root with Bin4ry, then Update to .290 with the instructions given HERE, when you have .290 rooted you are ready to update to .136 with the same method HERE.
For different Models the downgrade have to be done differently, downgrade to .257 FW First, then to .534 FW to not lose IMEI, but you will update anyway so there is no problem even if you will lose it.
Watch the Video Tutorial How To in the first Link for .290. It will explain all.

actually i dont care much about DRM key anyway. send for warranty only if hardware is spoilt. the most ask them do last warranty repair.
if DRM key n warranty is so much important, than sony would hav "Bootloader unlocked: NO" for all phone in the world
actually sony doesnt do the warranty n repair. it depends on the company in tat particular country. like example for doomlord, his one is only flap damage, but can get 1 to 1 exchange. tat shows tat how good the company is in tat country.
unlocking bootloader n rooting is pretty much standard.
technology n software is improving at a fast rate. the most i get a latest newer phone.

hey eclyptos, hope you still around this thread.
i quite agree with you, since i am one of those who care about warranty.
I hope it's fine to make a question about rooting here 'coz i can't make post on there. anw, i've been trying to follow the steps on here, but i find some trouble.
My status is :
Device : Xperia Z1 C6903
Build number : 14.2.1.136
what I did was :
Installing Flashtool 9.13 on PC
Download C6903_14.2.A.0.290.flashable.zip and put it on my first page of SDcard on device
Download C6903_14.2.A.0.290.Stripped.tft inside flashtool/firmwares folder on PC
Install TWRP on my device (can’t be used, root needed), can’t create a backup *step 5 failed*
XZDualRecovery Question : I’ve download it, connect my device to PC then enable USB debugging mode. Execute the install.bat from XZDualRecovery and choose number 2. Does anything really happened? *step 6 failed?*
Then I install the flashmode and fastboot drivers from flashtool folders. Tried to flashmode C6903_14.2.A.0.290 Brand Generic NCB but it stopped halfway.

The Video Tutorial on that thread explain very well what you should do, did you watched it?
You have to downgrade via Flashtool to .534 FW provided by NUT to not lose IMEI, Root the Firmware with Bin4ry, when you are rooted instal Dual Recovery, then follow the instruction to update directly to .136 from HERE.
All the files you find in .290 thread, Post #3, Watch the Video, then follow .136 thread.

[Q] Relocking the bootloader

I unlocked my bootloader using the flash tool, didn't root or do anything that requires an unlocked bootloader.
And now i want to relock it,because my phone got water damaged and before i go to the Sony service center.
It's still fully functional(i can use it to do normal everyday things)but a small part of the digitizer is not working anymore, aswell as installing the 4.4 update.
Any help?
And will the warranty cover up non-user caused water damage?all ports were closed as well as the battery door.

I just checked the Sony developer website, and it says that 2013 and newer devices, when unlocked,it well wipe all of your data, aswell as DRM stuff(track ID still works(and my data was not deleted)).
Are you supposed to receive Sony application updates when you've unlocked your phone?
