Project Work - Online Talent Showcase Platform - Off-topic

Hello guys! So basically I'm opening this thread to(hopefully) gather some advice, feedback(criticism is welcome) and ideas on my Project Work for Cambridge A Levels(equivalent of SATs) this year.
Just a brief description, Project Work is a learning experience which aims to provide candidates with the opportunity to synthesise knowledge from various areas of learning, and critically and creatively apply it to real life situations. This process, which enhances candidates' knowledge and enables them to acquire skills like collaboration, communication and independent learning, prepares them for lifelong learning and the challenges ahead.

I'm a Singaporean student studying in Singapore, so this is set in a Singaporean context. Hey, any fellow Singaporeans out there? Give me a heads up! :highfive:
This year's themes are Access and Choice. I plan to do a project pertaining to Access. My project is to solve a lack of easy access to a recognised, public platform to showcase talent.
I believe that there are plenty of talented people in Singapore, but there are barriers inhibiting them from fully developing their talents. One of this barriers is the lack of easy access to a platform for them to showcase their talent in a way such that they will gain recognition from the public, should they deserve it. My vision for this platform is to allow users to showcase their talents, and as such gain more recognition from the public and have greater chance to gain the attention of recruitment agents etc, thus presenting to them the opportunity to further develop their talents(which are usually also their passions) into careers.
The goal of this project to to create a public web platform to allow people to showcase their talents(singing, art, design, photography, writing etc).
The website will be powered by a Wordpress CMS (see where I'm going?), with some built-in internal social networking features, and will feature deep integration with existing Social Media like Facebook etc. Users will be allowed to register, post and comment on other user's works etc. And of course, there will be a moderation platform.
So.... opinions?

If you want to make a platform accessible to the general public so they can judge the talents of members, a website is only a small stepping-stone. You need to come up with something much larger. Or you can simply make the public aware of your website through advertisement. And how do you intend to showcase members' talent on the website? Short clips would be the most efficient means of doing so.
I didn't quite understand the moderation platform bit. What are they going to do?
CIE A Levels you say? I have my O Levels coming up in 2015. If it isn't too much of a hassle, can you give me a brief, yet as accurate as possible, idea of the O Levels via PM? Also if you have the Math and English papers and mark schemes, could you send them to me? Hope it's not too much to ask.
Good luck with your project and your A Level Examinations.

"Behind the scenes"-interview for Swedroid.se

Hi all!
I´m a moderate user of a X10 Mini but a devoted Androidfan and writer for the Swedish newsblog/reviewcenter Swedroid.se.
Our readers are very interested in your brilliant work to fastforward the development of non-Vanilla handsets as you solve our problems with speed and accuracy. The forum discussions are largely modification-focused where you play a vital role.
As for myself I usually write about trends and interesting events on a pretty large scale, one of my latest articles was summing up the (western) mobile industry for 2011.
But, to the point here. I´d very much like to conduct an "Inside XDA"-interview with any and all developers here willing to answer a few questions. Partly because you DO deserve some spotlight and partly for my personal interest for programming
However, the really nice thing with such an article would be to serve as a "meet the fans"-event and a look inside the exciting world of xda-developers! We could for example announce the time for the article to be published so that you may answer questions in the comments right away
You may choose how to be presented in the article, full name with a pic or anonomous - it´s up to you.
So, if you feel like sharing your developer-life with our growing readerbase, please PM me!
Welcome to forums
How about giving your readers the link to our Portal, over there you can find nice interviews with Chefs and Developers.
Thank you for the tip, but I can´t seem to find any interviews, been looking here: http://www.xda-developers.com/category/android/
Also, I´d like to conduct this interview with the perspective of "Average Joe" if possible, meeting the persons and their interest for solving problems rather than discussing these subjects from a more technical standpoint.
I can add that I despise the tabloid-media so the interview will be both balanced and "down to earth" meaning I wont bend it in order to attract maximum attention or provoking maximum debate - the developers and their passion for programming itself will do that just fine.
Our readers expect a high standard language and professional content, and I´d love to give them xda

Call for Jailbreak/Rooting Volunteers for Event

Hey all,
I've been an XDA member for a little while now and love the work that comes out of here. This year I'm working with Mozilla and the Open Video Alliance to put on the 3rd annual Open Video Conference.
In addition to a lot of great open web and open source projects this year we are offering a Jailbreak Station. It will be a place where attendees can bring their iOS device, have it jailbroken and learn the benefits and risks of having a jailbroken device.
We're looking for volunteers who are hack savy and experienced to volunteer to operate this jailbreaking station.
Benefits of Volunteering:
1. Free OVC T-Shirt
2. Free food!
3. Complimentary registration
4. A chance to network (lots of great industry folks at this event)
5. Be a part of the team and help spread the word on open source, hacking and being a more informed consumer
Supporters of this year include New York Law School, Zencoder, Mozilla and we're pleased to announce that Google has recently joined as a supporter. Many, many more commercial and non-commercial companies/orgs will be represented here too.
We need you! If you're interested please PM me Mod edit: removed email
This does not belong here. Try i-phone developers.

[Website] Growing Fast, Needs Staff

Hi Everyone,
I recently created a website with a couple of XDA members, and were growing in views fairly fast. However we literally cannot keep up with the content we need to publish in order to be competitive.
So were looking for new staff.
We need:
Writers, if your good at English and can write fluently and professionally why not get into Article writing and gain some popularity across the internet.
Site Designer: I can design a website, but I would like someone with a little more knowledge than me to converse with, also if they want to the Site Designer can also write articles (if they desire)
Social Media Promoters: If your up for getting into a new team and are a Social Guru, get involved and help us grow our social following.
Payments can be discussed depending on work rate.
Sorry, but there's a recruitment section and this isn't it

As we know innovation is every where in every single mind all around the world, so its always better to collaborate, communicate and brainstorm with the ever growing crowd of people across the globe. This will help to ideate & enhance the innovation process for any individual. For this to achieve, one should be familiar with the social networking websites specially to the niche sites designed for specific users. I am excited to join this incredible community of technology enthusiasts and share my passion for STB ROM exploration. Allow me to introduce myself and shed some light on my journey so far.
I have always been fascinated by the world of Set-Top Boxes (STBs) and the possibilities they offer. The ability to customize and enhance the functionality of these devices through ROM modifications has been a driving force behind my interest. I firmly believe that by diving into the depths of STB ROMs, we can uncover hidden potentials and create unique user experiences. Experience and Expertise: Over the years, I have dedicated my time and effort to understanding the intricacies of STB ROMs. Through extensive research, experimentation, and collaboration with fellow enthusiasts, I have gained valuable insights into the inner workings of various STB systems. I am particularly interested in optimizing performance, expanding feature sets, and ensuring compatibility with a wide range of applications. Goals on XDA: On XDA, my aim is to contribute to the STB community by sharing my knowledge, insights, and findings regarding ROM customization, modding techniques, and firmware development. I hope to engage in meaningful discussions, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and collectively push the boundaries of what is possible with STB devices. I am also eager to learn from the experienced members of this community, as I believe that knowledge-sharing and collaboration are key to personal and collective growth. Together, we can unlock the full potential of STBs and create an immersive and user-friendly experience for all. Final Words: I am thrilled to embark on this journey within the XDA community and connect with fellow STB enthusiasts. I am open to any questions, suggestions, or discussions related to STB ROMs and the exciting possibilities they present.
