Uses for 1 NFC tag - Nexus 7 General

Hello,
I have 3 NFC tags, 1 I use near my front door to turn on and off WiFi and the other one on my bedside table to turn on alarm clock.
I have 1 more, and I can't find any uses for it.
I've been searching the internet for good ideas and I didn't find a useful one. Can you help me?

I put one on the satnav holder in my car. I attach the phone to it and it opens up car mode
i put the other just near the door and that starts the laptop up by sending a magic packet via wifi

Enable magic packet/wake on lan (WOL) on your computer
Find an app that can send these magic packets to your sleeping computer
Computer is awakened.
I think it works on ethernet LAN too...not sure on that, though.

Sounds like a neat idea, I'm going to venture off on this and see what other uses I can think of :3
And also, sir. I tried to squish that little bug in the corner of my screen... more than once... now I feel like an idiot. xD

I got 3 NFC tags with my Optimus G. Hmm better find some fun places for them.

My LG NFC tags won't work with AOSP. What app are you guys using.
I downloaded TagWriter and it says the tag isn't formatted, and erasing data didn't do anything.

use NFC smart Q to format the tag, then try writing to it

Nexus 7 with external webcam

Hello researcher,
Any one tried Nexus 7 with external camera with the help of OTG cable? or is there any way to achieve it?

Welcome to the forum, murali.trichy.
I'd be interested in knowing the answer to your question too.
I've been curious about this as well. It was done quite a while ago on the Nexus S but required a specific firmware mod and some command line work to get the drivers to properly recognize the camera.

Bluetooth cuts wifi on 4.2.1

Hello.
When I use my Bluetooth headphones my wifi cuts out after about 10 minutes, it only affects the nexus because my xbox can still connect as can my 2 computers and laptop.
I know for a fact it's not my internet as my noise margin is currently at 19.5db download and 25.5db for upload.
help please??
Android 4.2 has a lot of Bluetooth issues. I don't know how to fix it, try to Google it?

Go to apps in settings and go to all apps and find bluetooth share and clear data, it fixed the issue for me

Its slower then dial up when i use the head phones...
dunno why i have a fast internet (24meg down)
I use Bluetooth and wifi at the same time all the time. I have a moga controller that's paired and surf no problem.

Asus, the maker of our N7, had to cut corners to come under $200 mark, so they specc'd a cheap WiFi/Bluetooth chip in the N7. Furthermore, they cut corners on QC, thus the atricious build quality and service issues.

I take this back. It doesn't happen all the time and a reset usually fixes it. Sometimes when I pair my Moga, my play store won't load. I can still surf but some apps wont connect. Rebooting fixes it until I attempt to pair again. Its not every time but about 1 out of 5 times.
I thought it was just the Moga Pivot app at first and I just use the universal driver now... but it still cuts wifi occasionally.
Probably just a quirk with 4.2.1

Nexus 7 broken screen. Project?

So I droped my Nexus 7 on a ground. Screen cracked. Srceen is OK but digitizer not working. I ordered new 1 today with 3G. I want to make a project out of broken one. I was planning installing it in a car. Could control it via BT mini keyborad/touchpad and/or ps3 controller for gaming while waiting + control with NFC tags. But I'd need to remove cracked glass with heater and place some plastic screen on top. I'm good with soldering. Other project suggestions also wellcome. Maby anyone done any project and could share tips and tricks.

BECAUSE YOUR MEANT TO BE DRIVING !!!!
However, I think it would be a great idea for Sat Nav etc.
Seriously, I don't understand some people that pay 250/300$ for a Sat Nav.
BUY A NEXUS, INSTALL IT !!! BOOM.
Sat Nav, Music Player, Internet Browser, touch screen....what could be better?!
If I was looking for a satnav, I'd buy a second nexus...

NFC is super slow. So far, Android Beam can only send LINKS, like Youtube, Drive, Play store, etc and small files like contacts.
S beam uses NFC to trigger Wifi direct. But that's only Samsung to samsung.
Unless I'm wrong. In which case please show me the light. I know of no effective way to transfer files from android to android.
Use the app SuperBeam for nfc and qr code wifi direct file transfers.

As of jellybean nfc initiates Bluetooth to transfer larger files but things like links and other small files like u meantioned use android beam.
As gk said I'd also recommend superbeam I've used it to transfer with a nexus 7 and works like a charm it resembles s-beam in a way as it uses WiFi direct

Which leads me to another question... Why in the hell does android have wifi direct but not take advantage of it? It would be so much better... Apple took advantage with airdrop or whatever new iOS 7 feature that is...

Bluetooth tethering

Hi. I was wondering how it works. Like.. Is it only for two phones together? Or can I go buy a Bluetooth USB and put that in my computer and tether it through that? I have been tethering through my phone and sometimes I would need it at my bed or something but the phones across the room. Its a hassle.
