Did, but more input the better. Has the slanted graphics issue that we saw on the first builds of CWM and CM.. Try it, you'll see.. and the phone is actually booting (you'll see it under device from pc when booted) Just can't get adb working yet but I'm sure he'll crack that nut as well.

When I do a . build/envsetup.sh I get 2 git errors.
Don't think that would cause this issue but we only had that with the original jfltespr repo.
So I guess I have some digging to do into this.... when time allows.

going to give this a try right now, will get back to see if the calls work soon.
Update: didn't boot up. I got a black screen and that is it right after the Samsung logo came up

It is but it's not out in their public repos. Caused a bit of problems because they made some commits publicly and some not.
Anyhow it looks like we have a few issues. PA's ramdisk gets distorted boot animation (like we saw with early CM testing) and then goes to black. Think I can get that one into ADB with same edits. Flash CM kernel and no boot animation but USB init goes through - just as mtp (not mtp,adb like in recovery)
So, making a change to CM the init file to start adbd. That ought to get us far enough to peek in and see what's going on. Obviously something is different between the two kernel ramdisks causing a display change.

so it's normal that it's not booting? or should it be booting by now?

It's normal based on current results for it not to boot. That's why it's at Alpha development.
In all honesty I should downgrade it to Pre-Alpha because Alpha suggests it would boot successfully.
Don't worry, when it boots and we get some functionality I'll promote it to Beta testing.
If this CM kernel + AOSPA ROM gets us ADB I'll post that for people to go in and collect logcats.
That may help us track down the issue to at least get display going.

Thanks for the clarification! I can't wait to be able to run this ROM. I would wanna help with logcats but I have no idea how to do any of that.

OK, finally took a peek at this. Turns out there's something wrong with the kernel/ramdisk for sure. System is not mounting, shell folders within /data didn't exist.... which means even the init scripts didn't get far. ADBD did start so it's a clue as to how far it got.
Unfortunately since it's not as far as I hoped it is being downgraded to Pre-Alpha status.

will the "Halo" feature be included?

PA back to Alpha status as it successfully boots.
Screenies to come but I can say this - Wi-fi okay, 3G/4G/Calls NG, GPS NG.
I'll start with calls first on this.

Awesome!!!

The more options we have the better, right?
AOKP Official Website
Disclaimer: I do not claim to be a developer... However, by READING, SEARCHING, and TRYING, I've learned some tricks of the trade. One of them has been building from source. All I am doing is putting a few pieces together to make it compile, all the hard work has been done by h8rift and mg2195. Their repos, hard work, and dedication build this ROM - all thanks/credit goes to them as well as the CM and the AOKP teams. Being that this is built off of h8/mg's trees, any bugs present in the CM10 ROM will be present in this ROM. The box that I compile on is by no means speedy, so updates will come when there are major breakthroughs, as soon as I can get them built. Feel free to post bugs, but please don't expect them to be addressed quickly, especially if it's not on h8's or mg's to-do list - like I said, I'm not a developer, but I will be tinkering – but with 4 kids, a full time job, a house to manage, and a build PC that’s years behind the game, play time comes sparingly. I test these builds on my own device before any release, but I do not claim it will work for everyone. ALWAYS have a nandroid in case of emergencies. I am NOT responsible for bricked devices or catastrophic failure Once ATT in call mic is fixed I'll be able to run these longer than 20 or 30 minutes so I have some actual time to troubleshoot problems I've introduced
What works:
- Mobile Data
- SMS/MMS
- Phone
- GPS
- Camera
- WiFi
- ATT WiFi Hotspot (and maybe StraightTalk too)
What doesn't work:
Here (http://code.google.com/p/htc-msm8660/issues/list) is the Issue tracer for CM10. These issues will also be present in this ROM. DO NOT POST NEW ISSUES TO THIS LIST UNLESS YOU'VE FIRST DONE A FULL WIPE, FLASHED CM10, AND VERIFIED THAT THE ISSUE PERSISTS. IT IS VERRRRRRY POSSIBLE THAT THESE ROMs HAVE INTRODUCED NEW BUGS THAT ARE NOT PRESENT IN CM, WHICH NEED TO BE REPORTED ME, NOT THE CM10 ISSUE TRACKER - Bluetooth
- Non ATT Tethering/Hotspot (StraightTalk hotspot might work too)
- Camera has a bit of a bluish/orangish hue to it (Fix: http://www.mediafire.com/?15guubzesa84e13 (flash in recovery) - Alternatively, just change ro.product.device=Holiday to ro.product.device=holiday (notice the h isn't capitalized?) in build.prop, save, and reboot. I will fix this in the next build)
- process com.android.phone has stopped message on boot/reboot/possibly when you don't have service? (sometimes once, sometimes a few times), but doesn't seem to affect anything after that
- You tell me

- Fixed ATT in call mic. May not work on first phone call, but will work every time after (even after a reboot from my testing). Full wipe recommended
12.12.12
- Fixed WiFi and added CameraFix to full build. Full wipe recommended
12.11.12
- CameraFix.zip to fix camera. Fix will be added to next full release

- Initial Release
You must have your bootloader unlocked with a custom recovery (WCX Recovery tested, approved, and recommended)
Download the ROM .zip and gapps .zip from the Downloads section, to either your Internal or SD memory
Boot to recovery and wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache, and System
Flash ROM .zip
Flash gapps .zip
Reboot
IF YOU ARE S-ON, you need to manually flash boot.img from Fastboot so -
Extract boot.img from ROM .zip to the directory on your computer where fastboot is
Boot to bootloader (PWR and Vol- from off state)
Select Fastboot
Plug your USB cable in and open a command prompt in the same directory you have fastboot
Fastboot flash the boot.img (I like to flash it twice, just to be sure)
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Reboot

To answer the above.. I havent had enough of a chance to play with any of them to make that decision. I like a lot of parts of both of them I guess, and pa. I've never actually got to use a pacman Rom..so I look forward to trying that.. Its just nice to have the option to choose sorry for such a vague answer.. maybe ill have some more insight on that once I'm able to use any of them as a daily. Im on att and need my phone to operate as a phone. And with 4 kids the camera is pretty important to me as well.. so for the time being, these are only for play time for me
I know the limited time deal - also 4 (young) children, married, full time job... Very blessed, and learning time-management^n
Patience with this device is actually on the precipice of paying off Not sure I need to try pac-man, probably settle for one of these three first new rooms, but haven't ever been more excited about any of my phones!

Just a quick question, would this feasibly work on US Cellular like the gs2 + gs3 roms did with some basic edits to the apns, eri.xml, and build.prop? Obviously this is not in flashable form just a simple innocent question.

So... I realized something rather dumb on my part today.
I've been having you guys test just the ROM. Didn't dawn on me you probably need a boot.img because the ramdisk has probably changed, even if the kernel didn't.
Give me a few to get something together.
Looks like I found the ROM I'll be flashing in a month when i upgrade.
Edited - removed the next test. Wrong image name.
Work on hold pending Cyanogen's repo update. According to him it's fully working on T-mo so shouldn't be long before we have it working on Sprint.
New builds based on Cyanogen's versions just uploaded.

Do I have to wipe before flashing??
Always wipe, no matter what ROM you are on now, even if it's a previous version of BlakCM.
I flashed a different kernel and now I'm having an issue, what should I do?
Boot to recovery, wipe everything and reflash BlakCM. I'll only provide support for the kernel integrated into BlakCM.
I see 'So and so" posted a fix for this issue or that, is it safe to flash that fix on BlakCM?
Please make a backup before making any modifications or flashing any 'fixes' from ANYONE. You also flash said fix or mod at your own risk..
My data [3G/4G/LTE] doesn't work, but everyone else's seems fine, how do I fix it?
Flash a Stock ROM and update your profile then flash back to BlakCM.
This ROM is for the carrier in the section it is placed in, if you have problems with data and are on a different carrier,
then you must search elsewhere for a fix or ask around to see if someone else knows.
I flashed the ROM and now I have an issue, what should I do?
Pull a logcat and post it on to pastebin.com, provide a link in this thread to it.
Be detail specific in your post. I need to know if you have modded or changed anything that may cause the issue.
How do I pull a logcat?
Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726238
Will you add 'this' feature?
Not likely. If you want a feature added unofficially, you should add the feature yourself and post your unofficial build.
When will this 'issue' be fixed?
NO ETA's.
thanks!

Nightlies need not apply. Based on the source used for this build, this would be closer to 9/24-25. Anyhow, I'll sync and compile another build tonight if data is a problem across the board, otherwise, it will be later this week.

Listview Animations? Yes. I have yet to be able to run it myself to tell you with certainty, but I was also told, that listview was updated and I am unaware as to whether or not it has been updated within this source. Either way, there is Listview. Yes.
TEST build uploading now.
I repeat, TEST.
Full wipe.

The only issue I ran into were some force closes in settings, and cannot install .apk files from my download folder. It simply would not let me press on install. Other than that, the rom is smooth, and I love the black theme.

To side load apps, go into wherever the setting is to toggle installing non-market apps. Toggle it on and off a few times, see if that works. As for FC's, what part of settings FCd exactly?

Welcome to VanirAOSP. Our mission is to deliver a clean optimized version of Android with subtly improved versions of the features you love to as many devices as possible. we've tried to incorporate and improve our features in a way that makes them more cohesive to improve the overall user experience while correcting any performance regressions and improving functionality..
What to expect
- This is not a McCopy ROM. What goes into our build is well thought-out and not a bunch of stuff duck taped together because we could.
- Maximum optimization. We do our research. We test hard. We build -fstrict -O3 globally and include a massive array of code optimizations and memory leak fixes that we write ourselves and eventually submit to AOSP or Linaro.
- Originality in our source. We generate a lot of new commits being features or general code improvements. We are open source to share and improve the community but we also try to make sure we offer a unique experience.
- Aesthetics.. hopefully in your opinion
Features
-Stock mode - ability revert to stock AOSP code with the exception of a few custom features we chose to keep active
-Enhanced performance.. longer uptime with less slowdown
-Custom written CRON and init.d.
-UI and graphics improvements
-Custom navbar, navring, and hardware key features
-Improved notification handling
- Lockscreen notifications
- Rewritten Halo
-Usability improvements like power reboot menu and sound
-Animation control
-Improved Vanir keyboard
-CM's profiles & quicksettings
-Additional quicksetting tiles
-Immersive desktop
- A combination of immersive mode and expanded desktop
-Statusbar mods
-Clock & battery mods
-Lockscreen blur and other mods
-Busybox, embedded root, init.d, cron etc
-Yatta yatta yatta
-More to come when i feel like updating the op

F2FS Support
- What is F2FS?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F2FS
- Does F2Fs improve performance?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697069
see for your self
- Is it dangerous?
No, android is fully compitable with F2FS
But do keep in mind EXT4 is still more stable, and F2FS is developed by samsung(samsung is crap)
Worse case scenario is an encrypted device, wich can be fixed with a hard reset
- What one shouldn't do:
Flash F2FS kernel on EXT4 formated devices and vice versa
so if youre on F2FS, and if you want to update your rom,
make sure you should the F2FS kernel after
I'm working on a script that makes one kernel support both filesystems
but it isn't ready yet.
How does one make it's phone F2FS?
- Back up everything to your pc (including your internarl storage)
- Download recovery and kernel
- Flash my TWRP
- Go to wipe
- Format data
- Now go to wipe/advanced wipe
- Check data
- Click repair or change file system
- Change it to F2FS
- Now do the same for /cache
- Now flash the F2FS kernel
- Reboot and profit
- How does one know he has succelfully formatted /data and /cache to F2FS?
Use adb shell or terminal emulator
execute "mount" and you can see you file system.

The D800 may just need a kernel that has loki baked into it. If the developers of this ROM would make a boot.img with loki built in then I would flash it. Already recovered from a bad CM flash so know how to repair phone :=)

Not exactly, the D800 has an extra mic the D802 doesnt have, so the code needs to be fixed for audio to work, and the kernel needs the ATT specific DTB attached to it, Dalingrin is currently sorting out Tmo (D801) issues and after that he has said he will try to work on the ATT version, I'm assuming Arcee will be helping as well, but not sure as I've only spoken to Dalingrin.
What's the issue with the home key? Would love to try this.

no the current testing build of cm for D801, has issues, but it looks like a device maintainer for 801 has just been found recently and will be taking point of the build, apparently it is almost done. so hang in there, last to get builds are gonna be ATT and Sprint.

I was guessing it wasn't since I ran into a security issue while trying to play with the CM build.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..
A: ROM developers, including CM, build something they want to use. The ROM dev that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't (or don't want), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Octo-Kat
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Bugs:
Let us know if you run into bugs. Get Syslog from the Android Market, if you don't already have it. No logs and we can only try to recreate the event off of vague descriptions. Please also include what you were doing when it FCed or failed. Logs can be emailed to: [email protected]
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Three-Finger or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
Flash ROM and GApps .zip files
Reboot
A Note about the Team OctOs GApps
We in Team OctOs believe in choices. We believe in leaving the fundamental decisions about your phone to you.
In that spirit, Team OctOs gives you options for your GApps experiences. While any GApps package should work, we offer you the choice of using some of the same GApps packages that we use ourselves, and leave the choice up to you.
The Dalvik-Enhanced packages are NOT ART compatible. If you plan to run ART, don't use those.

The idea is that you can have an almost 100% AOSP experience unless you choose not to. It's why out of the box you don't even have a Reboot option.
