small blue dot only on camera - Sprint HTC One (M7)

hello everyone. had the one for 3 weeks now. I just noticed a very small blue dot almost at the center of my screen when taking pics or recording videos. I could only see it on camera mode though. on home screen it does not appear. ran dead pixel test and did not find anything. I been searching forums and found nothing similiar . I'm debating on returning it or is there a fix for this. I'm completely stock, unrooted for now.

Is it in your photos?

Yes. I just tried it.

If u look at the same spot where the dot is and compare it to the app drawer, u can't see it.

Just curious here but does it show on both front and back camera's or just one?

Just on the rear facing one. I hope it's a software issue, not hardware . I don't want a refurbished one.

At this stage, you likely won't get a refurb.
That said, it looks like your camera actually has a dead sensor. Not sure what, if anything, you can do to try to clear it up short of taking in the phone.
It obviously isn't the screen.

Ya, I am no genius on this subject by no means but that pixel would be considered stuck instead of a dead pixel. If it is on the software end of things then going through the various colorize settings in that particular camera mode and taking snapshots may release it. Maybe even a factory reset may release it back to normal.
Then again it may be a warning sign that that pixel is about to go dead too I guess. I really hope you get this cleared up for sure and I for one would be very curious as to just what is going on here. Thanks.
Edit: referring to the camera may have a dead sensor as said above, I would have thought that it would have shown that way with recording too. Maybe not though...

Thanks guys I'll try to take it back as soon as I can

My HTC One has the exact same issue but it's on the very edge of the screen so much less offensive then where yours is.
It's a hot pixel on the camera sensor that only shows up when the ISO is cranked up. For DSLR's, software (at the factory or even on camera) is used to "map out" these hot pixels. Perhaps we have something similar on our phones that can be accessed.. have you tried a hard reset?

Blue dot
Yeah I recently purchased mine but unlocked and I have the same problem, seems to happen when it is on high ISO. I was reading into the hot pixel thing which happens in other cameras, but they say they go away but can persist. I am debating to wait or exchange it, but these phones are back-ordered :/

Considering that your hot pixel is near the center of the screen, I would consider exchanging it (if possible). While it's true that they can sometimes go away on their own, my experience (with DSLR's at least) has led me to not rely on this happening (I have a few hot pixels on my DSLR that have appeared and NOT gone away in the last few years).

I have a similar problem I have a little green dot on the corner of my screen

broken camera and 2 dead pixels out of the box

I received my shipment today.
The very first thing I did after signing in was update the system to 4.1.1.
After playing for a few minutes I noticed a dead or stuck pixel on the right side of the screen. I ran the display test app and found another dead pixel in the middle of the screen.
I tried the camera with Google hangouts and Skype and all I get is garbled green signal. Using the nexus 7 camera launched yielded the same result.
Doing a full factory reset did not fix the problems.
Needless to say this going back. I'm disappointed that this excellent device is having these quality issues.
I have a single dead pixel on the very edge. It's only visible on a completely black screen so I'm gonna live with it.
Good luck with your return.

I would recommend you get it exchanged. At the end of the day its still a defect. Maybe wait a little while so they have more stock to ship another one.

Top left light under screen

Hey Guys,
I was just curious if anyone else happens to be experiencing this before I take my phone back into AT&T. When my phone is lying flat and I look across the screen I can see a strange light under the top left part of the screen. I cannot see said light when looking at the screen regularly, only when I look across the phone long ways. The screen has a black rim around the phone that causes you not to see it, so you would have to look at an angel.
I don't know what this light is, but my concern is that it would spread, which I'd rather get taken care of now rather than later if there is a defect in the screen.
Thanks,
RPelham
Bump. Can someone please look at their device and confirm whether this is the case for them? Thanks!

If anyone has this issue in the future, it was due to a large gap between the LCD3 screen and the gorilla glass. It caused me to see some of the backlight coming through the edge of the screen. Returned it to ATT today and got a phone which so far is completely flawless.

Sprint tech dicking me around

Brought my phone in for the dreaded purple hue in low light camera situations. Left it there and went to do some errands while they inspected it. Long story short I go back and he claims that corrosion in the headphone jack caused it. Then says he fixed it by blowing air in there and factory resetting it (I had run the ruu prior to bringing it in.) I grab the phone and go into camera and hold my hand up to the lens and bam still there. He then says "oh. That was the problem with the camera?" To which I responded with yes. And confirms that his claim of supposed corrosion is not the cause.
My question is this: did this tech flag the phone as internally damaged on my account and now I'm f'd and have to pay deductible for an obvious warranty issue or should I definitely take it to a different store?
Thanks
He could have flagged it but the flag is only good for 30 days if he did flag it. The system they use is called eticket. Without know the ticket number it would be very difficult for us to look past 30 days. So if you want it replaced them have the same store do it since they know what they did. If you don't want to deal with their dumbasses again then wait 30 days and go to another store. If you are still having issues then don't go to corporate stores. From my experience your chances of getting a complete **** are a lot higher at corporate locations.
Sent from my HTCONE using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
He could not have used eticket if it had corrosion. If it had corrosion, he would have told you to go through asurion because of water damage. He probably didn't even put a ticket through. Call CS and see if there's any notes.

Went to a different store today after work. Replaced phone. Same issue on new one so they are ordering another. Crossing fingers that one is good. They told me its software. Yeah OK.
I've gone through 7 HTC ones. And every single one of them had the camera blue/purple tent during low light situations. I just deal with it. I dont think I've ever seen a one not give that effect..

Dang, you're One unlucky person. Pun intended. In all seriousness the tint on my HTC One is only around the edges. When it is practically pitch black it will cover the whole screen. So, there re some good ones out there.

How did you go about trading it in?
When the red one came out HTC championship website was giving them away for people that wanted to trade in their current phone. My coworker had a gs3. They gave full trade value. She didn't want the red one but got it for me. I gave her my black One.

My first One didn't have the tint, but something got behind the lens and ruined every picture. It took Sprint 6 hours to determine that it in fact wasn't a scratch on the lens. My refurbished One has the tint but I don't really give a ****. Low light pictures on a smartphone typically ain't gonna be good anyway.
Well damn this thread is totally misleading based on the title ....geez ..
Haha Naw but yeah mine has that bloody low light issue but I made my peace ...if I can put up with the first evo camera ,I can put up with this anyday ..so ..bring it on HTC ..BRINGITON!!!

Light leaking from soft-keys onto the screen

Hi guys
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a light leak in the bottom right corner of my HTC One. I'm sure it's leaking from near the Home button key. It seems as if the adhesive has come of or something, because it didn't happen since the beginning. It's visible only when the capacitive keys light up and the background in dark. The leak sprays on the screen for almost an inch!
I'm wondering how serious is this problem? What should I do?
I've attached a couple of pictures, they're not the best ones but thats what I could do with an iPhone 4.

I decided it doesn't bother me that much and soft key light comes in handy especially at night ; I am only worried that the speaker moved a little bit away from the screen, curious how it'll perform in time..

For what it's worth, I came across an app - Soft Buttons Light that permanently enables or disables the soft key lights; It did the trick for me. The best part is, it doesn't require root.

Why dont you try skinned stock ROMs.. Such as Viper.. It gives the user an option to alter the light of the soft keys

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing. Just installed a rooted stock ROM and a different app (Capacitive Buttons) to disable my button lights. Works just fine now.
The reason I would've preferred an app that doesn't require root is that I enjoy receiving OTA updates, so initially I didn't want to root. But all is well now, so whatever

I was just about to post a new thread, but saw this one.
Anyway, I also have this light leakage issue. It's coming from the bottom right corner of the screen where the screen meets the speaker cover. Kinda difficult to describe, but the fact that I spotted it and am now aware of it bugs me.
I'm way past my 14 days, so the only option is probably to send it to HTC.

If your camera is fine, I would suggest that you don't send in your phone for repairs. You can either learn to live with it or disable them completely. Ending up with a bad camera or getting stuck in a repair circle is worse!

Screen bleed issues
Having read some of the comments and issues with the M7 HTC One, please make use of these suggestions, if you
have a problem like i have,
1. The bleed issues and severity of these issues is 'handset specific' BUT is know by HTC and most retailers in the UK
(Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U and all the UK carriers, ie, EE shops, etc).
2. I had this issue & can be resolved (in some or all instances by flashing a halo, or light Rom) This however is not ideal
for several reasons and obviously is not a fix as it invalidates your warranty if rooted and returned to the manufacturer or
retailer.
TAKE ACTION.
1. Return your handset and ask for a replacement, yes, they nearly all have some problems but after 30 mins of sifting through
a dozen or so handsets i found one that was "slightly better" than my first handset but not ideal.
2. Buy a Samsung, Sony or any other device if this matter is not resolved at, point of sale...
It's not the best BUT you do have rights and a choice, great handset, but not for everyone !!!!

Camera Blurry In Dark

I was at an old asylum last night on a flashlight tour and trying to take photos in the dark.
My photos came out unfocused and terrible compared to iPhone and Galaxy users when attempting the exact same shot.
Any ideas? Do I have a bad censon? I was using stock firmware as I just completed the htcdev unlock yesterday before I left for the asylum.

Update. I put bad boys ROM on the device and photo's look a bit better. It's hit or miss...some look great...some are terrible. Any ideas? Rather than marching to my local sprint store and having them send it away and fixed?

If it's still new, I would get it exchanged. The camera on the one has major issues, and it looks like you might have a bad camera module.
Two months old. So I can't just exchange it anymore.

Sucks dude. Then the big question is can you live with it? I would try and send it in for warranty. If you don't try and address it now, it's just going to piss you off more and more as time goes on. My opinion anyway.
True. I'll search for a guide to get it back to full stock so it doesn't say tampered.
I love this phone and I don't want to just give up on it. Done some Google searching and this seems to be a problem that's all too common.

Pretty much sums it up.
Ultrapixel is a gd gimmick. Your camera is actually better than a lot of people's.
Blurry photos in dark are because it can't see well enough to focus and if the shutter is slowing down to allow more light in, it'll blur due to movement - even from your hands shaking
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
So, I flashed a 5.5 rom and my camera was working GREAT. The flash went off the instant BEFORE the camera tried to focus and boom...no more blurry photo's.
HOWEVER, this morning (after the phone was charged 100% overnight) I was sending a text.... the phone gave off a MASSIVE vibration and then went dead. I mean dead. Completely unresponsive. Won't turn on. The LED light won't even flash when plugged in.
Traveling to PA to see if it can be "repaired".
We shall see how this goes.
Its a hardware issue/Defect. I just got mine replaced for free and purchased it in June. My new camera purple haze is gone. Unfortunately sprint sent me a effed phone with an inverted power button and no vibration. Now I got to wait another week or so for another refurb.
