Keeping the black clean - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I didn't believe those that said smudges would be problem on this phone, but it definitely is. To top it off, grit is stuck in some of my speaker holes and I've no idea of how to get it out. It sticks out like a sore thumb when the phone is clean...

Damn that sucks mine has stayed clean for the most part, I don't know what I would do either if mine got like that..The speaker holes are sooo tiny very difficult to get clean..

I find the black quite hard to keep clean aswell I use alcohol and a cloth to combat the grease but I'm a little OCD

I have a xtreme full body kit on mine. Completely clear and has 100% clarity. You can't tell there is anything on the front or back. Takes a simple wipe of the phone with a cloth and it shines like new. No case needed.

I just throw mine in the dishwasher and it gets clean as a whistle. Top shelf only!

Ahh, finally got some replies.
The body isn't much to wipe off, but in having trouble finding something to maybe poke into the grille holes

Got em off eBay 2 full kits for 8 bucks total and free shipping.

I just installed xtremegaurd front and back. U can definately tell it's there(as far as the feel). I'm thinking about taking the screen protector off. The back I will leave because I am waiting on my atmosphere case which has a clear back to it so I still can see the back and not worry about debris getting behind and rubbing on the anodization.

Silver piece bulging out on left side.

Hey I was wondering if anybody else's plastic piece is bulging out on the left side look at the pics below. The first one is the bulged on the left side of the tablet and the second picture is the right non bulged side. Maybe I'm just OCD but now I can't stop looking at it and its driving me crazy.

Thankfully my screen lifting problem was solved by me just loosening the screws so I'll use that for now until it stops working, but this is bothering me.

I also fixed mine the way you have done it but that was temp solution and I tried tightening as well and the sponge removing solution but all were temp. This washer solution is permanent one.

The washers caused the trim bulge for me. Took out the washers and loosened all screws. No more trim bulge and screen lift is resolved, for now.

Did you add in washers, or do you have this bulge without having made any modifications?

Any scratches or chips yet?

Hate to say it but today I dropped my one chipped the two top corners but only the metal. It really was my fault for taking the case off but was surprised to see it didn't take much damage. But anyways how is your HTC one doing condition wise?
The first mark is always the worst. I have yet to do any damage to my phone.... fingers crossed

I agree, the first damage will be the worst, but you won't mind 'em after that.
I think, after a little while, all the tiny chips and nicks and stains and scratches will give the phone a badass, battle-scarred look, because it's aluminum and all. That's just my opinion though.
As nice as the phone looks I put it in a case the day I got it knowing that I'm prone to dropping it
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
Mine slid off my lap onto my parents driveway during a bbq. A few scuffs on the back that really bug me. It's now in a commuter case which hides and protects it so the marks are hidden... But I know they are there
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
I actually have the tiniest of dents in the aluminium on the back. Not sure when it happened. Its barely noticable but can be felt distinctly with a finger. Sad day
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
I have a few chips on the chamfered ... cham.. whatever... part of the aluminum from dropping it in the car and in the house a few times. It's hard to see though.

Anything I can safely put over lens?

I use face unlock and seems every time I talk on the phone and often just taking it out of my pocket, the front lens is smudged pretty badly. I'm wiping it off a few times a day. Never had this problem with my Evo 3D.
Anyone have any clever ideas to reduce the smudging? Maybe some kind of protective cover that won't ruin pictures?

This sounds really stupid, but how are you putting your phone into your pocket? The fabric of your pocket isn't exactly thick, and sweat and grime from your body easily winds up all over anything inside of your pocket.
I bicycle a lot on campus, so I found that the easiest thing to do was to make sure my phone always went in with the screen facing out. That alone saved a lot of wiping.
It's more of a problem after a call but not always. I try to keep screen facing out in my pocket. But this is a good point too.

How did it happen? Did the gear hold up better than you thought it would?
Walkin thru a door way ay work. Hit pretty hard. New the moment i hit it i may have scratched it. Its so slight that its not noticable. Actually had a hard time takin picture. Ive dinged it a few other times but thats the only scratch.

Mine is pretty badly scratched too.. :/
I was bending down to pick up a box at the house and I hit my head into my brick around the door very minor scratch. Is held up a lot better then I had expected
Be careful with those screen protectors, especially the wet kind. I took caution when I spayed the screen but after getting the protector on I noticed to my horror that there was condensation under the camera lens! Fortunately it dried over night and everything seems OK. Maybe instead of spraying the screen I should have used a cotton swab or tissue to apply the wet solution?
Lesson learned and I won't be doing that again!

As scary as that may seem, it has been common to get condensation under the camera lens. I haven't seen anyone report a permanent issue from it. The condensation can happen just by walking from a cool, dry environment to a hot and humid environment or if you sweat a lot.

Can't show you... tried my best to scratch it but to no avail. Dropped it from 3m (10ft) right onto asphalt with glass first... Only a small mark on the edge not visible only by running a nail on the edge can you feel it.

HTC one durability

Welp broke the screen on my second phone now. Man if you drop these phones on the corner, the screen Is guaranteed to break. Anyone else have a similar experience? I do have a case on these phones by the way.
ive been lucky, dropped mine a few times and its still good, case is pretty beat up but rather it be beat up than the phone.
That sucks man! I guess I have a good case, I've dropped mine a bunch.....first few times I kinda freaked, now nothing happens, and I pick it up! Sorry for your loss.

actually no not at all.. dropped this guy many many times and have a couple chips in the metal but the screen is fine. Even the other day im running on a tredmill and flap my headphone wire with my arms as im running.. it fell on the belt i kicked it and it still was fine.
hahah
I have a Otterbox Commuter on mine, and it has seen the concrete floor at work several times without consequence. Invest in a better case.
I spilled bong water on mines and my girl scratched it a little with my keys over top speaker other than that no drop damage and trust it's seen it's fair share. #TOUGH

Yea even a thin case around the phone will prevent this from happening - it will absorb a lot of impact since its a compressible material...
basically w/o a case if u drop it on the front corners it will likely crack the screen
This is because the impact is abosorbed by the metal- which will not compress, it will just push all the force down to the glass screen and crack it.. if they just had a little bit of rubber or plastic between the metal and the glass it would alleviate the impact enough so that the screen wont crack as easily.
I power slammed my phone and the screen broke. HTC makes crappy phones. I'm buying a iPhone
