My phone its pretty slow with jb 4.1 with fat drain battery - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hello people of the forum I'm a follower of all the threads about this amazing phone lg, but lately I start to see some of this problems:
- the common lag of the main screen that takes about 10 to 15 seconds to load all the app launchers
- the battery is the main problem when I fully charged I could easily loose about 15 to 20% of the battery with 20min of usage during a video or light games
- when I load videos of YouTube they get pause itself and it restart all the video again
- some games like jewel dash (that's is a light game) kick me off after a few minutes of play
- I changed to jb from its mainly because the heat of the phone during playing videos or games, although this problem persist after the update
I applied all the things what the forum show like the factory reset after the update the wipe data. I installed the firmware with kdz tool... I will appreciate all your help about this subject I'm really de desperate... Btw my phone is rooted but I'm very newbie on this subject of cyanogedmod and the flashing so be comprehensive on that
Thx for all ur help

First go to settings and factory reset the device and then boot in stock recovery and choose wipe data factory reset and wipe nv partition when finished remove the battery and reinsert it and flash the firmware with kdz update when flashing finished root your device and then install supersu integrate(move) into system and factory reset again and then use a root file manager go to root>system>app and delete lgmits.apk and mlt.apk and reboot
I used this my own method my 4x is butterly smooth and also better battery life.
To improve performance use greenify,in developer setting select background process limit atmost 2 process it's resets in every boot, and also select animation effects off

Do you think tegra overclock will improve my phone and how I can use it? Thx for ur help
Enviado desde mi LG-P880 usando Tapatalk 2

You can control the active core like lg gear box but don't use cpu clock or changing frequency governor, you can also force all selected core online to improve games performance and also you're able to overclock gpu
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium

How can I use this app for improve the battery life and produce less heat? I'm using one core right now as I read on another thread but when I want to modify the gpu clock it don't make the chance it's permanent on 50 Mhz as I read on another thread it's because the cpu and gpu r not unlinked how can I modify in this case mu gpu? Thx for ur help
Enviado desde mi LG-P880 usando Tapatalk 2

The default value of gpu is 200 and i chaned it to 330
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium

And how I can reduce the drain battery and the heat? That's my main problem
Enviado desde mi LG-P880 usando Tapatalk 2

Try to uninstall Google Maps and Google Plus also use greenify to hibernate user apps.
Heat is normal for Tegra3 processor
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium

Ok and the gpu c. Clock on 330 and how many core I should use during normal use of phone and how many for game performance

I'm adding the pic of my battery drain problem
Enviado desde mi LG-P880 usando Tapatalk 2

An this one's r the setting of tegra overclock
Enviado desde mi LG-P880 usando Tapatalk 2

Don't use core selection because tegra3 uses cores selection automatically, it's enables and disabales cores as requirements but lg modified it to prevent forcing all cores online in games.
So gaming you can select 4 cores online and normal use just select 2 cores
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium

I don't experimented yet with tegra fps you can search in google for more info.
But normally in every 4x cell standby is in top on battery use.
For gpu clock select 3d at 380mhz and 2d half of the 3d value.

Damn the battery drain. N problem is getting worst it's so annoying idk what I can do
Enviado desde mi LG-P880 usando Tapatalk 2

If i didn't force stop the music player and smartshare apps they were draining my battery in nighy abour 15%,and when i force stop them then the battery drain is 1-2% in night
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium

try using your phone without any extra case or guard behind it. that may help.

It really sucks the heat and the drain battery problem and u don't know how to stop that is not possible that my phone just hace 5-6 hours of battery and I need to charge it 3 times in the day

it doesn't have optimus 4x in the supported list
Our phone is supported, don't worry. We got Tegra 3 processor. I am using it daily to improve performance (mainly in games to overclock GPU and to REALLY force all 4 cores to work).
Here's a couple of screenshots that I just made to show you.

Hi guys, maybe you read this question a lot of times...
In your opinion which is the best battery friendly ROM for our device atm? I don't really care about performance aspects because I'm not a gamer

I get +/- 1 day on stock JB (GPS always ON, data always On). Last time i tried CM (RC2) i didn't get 6h...
I'm currently getting a decent ammount of battery life with CM Nightly 20130613 + Idoak v6 kernel.
Also Stock ROM with Idoak kernel is good aswell. Just have my Governor set to Interactive and seems to do a pretty well job.

From what I've read/heard around. The CM RC version are alot more buggy and problematic than the Nightlies. I haven't tried the RCs myself tho the Nightly does feel pretty smooth and stable.
Which firmware?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium
ROM has little to nothing to do with battery life, aside from the obvious settings you can select to turn opn or off features. what does influence battery life is how you use the phone and in particular 3 key elements
1) Kernel - Stock kernel is pretty limited, using alternative kernels will allow different governor and scheduler options along with frequency and voltage control
2) Tweaks - many unsuspectable little things can change the way your phone drains, probably the best way to start is getting pimp my rom from the plauy store
3) Apps - You will need apps to help managing and scheduling when and how the phone drains. LBE security master or any other task manager will prevent unwanted app startings and others like juice defender or other battery saving programs help with which interfaces are on and when.
Also keep in mind that if your phone is new the battery in the first 3-4 days need to settle and will change drastically behaviour.
Hope this helps
In any case a catania sto telefono te lo fanno prima della terza ricarica quindi non mi starei a preoccupar troppo
Grazie XD
In this case which kernel and governor do you suggest me?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium
Stock rom, remove LG MLT and Google Backup Service and you should be good.
I can leave my phone for 2 days without worrying about charging it. However, with screen set to 50 or 100% brightness, the battery drains very fast.
Otherwise, keep your screen brigthness low and get a governor that lets you throttle the CPU. At 800 MHz,you should be fine. Also, dont use auto brightness, it will not help.
Thank you which firmware?

Sorry but you should write a new topic for this problem... Anyway there are several guides in this section that revolve about how to install custom roms. Try looking there... However generally after installed a recovery you should do a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik) -> install zip from sd card -> choose zip from internal/external sd card -> [file directory] -> choose file -> yes

I dont know if iodak improves battery life, but I do not think that battery improved with CM. It actually got worse for me,
XenonHD + iodak v06 has been very smooth and battery friendly. A day and a half of moderate use and I'm sitting at 18%

Cm (02/07) + Optimus Prime V1.9. I use cm because it's (IMO) the best way to enjoy the android experience. Also because all the mods are compatible with cm.
The reason i use this kernel is because of the performance/battery life.
Cheers
Stock v20a Euro with stock kernel I deleted some applications that come preinstaled and now everything is fine.Using stock because i like LG UI 3 and because i didnt yet installed CWM If anuyone can recomend guild how to instal CWM (best version for our phone) please do so
P.S. mine 20a Euro is unlocked and rooted.
Zaiben ROM and eternity project kernel, best performance and battery life, first time that I don't need to lower the graphics of real racing 3 to ir run lag free, also first time that I run butterly smooth mc4 and 10 hours sleeping with only 8% drop

well, I used to enjoy playing some Tegra games on it, but I just hope there's something to smoothen the performance and enhance the battery life as it is now still very disappointing.
I'm currently running V20A rooted still with locked bootloader ( I believe ). I have frozen several LG apps (if not all), and the battery life is still disappointing.

Umm? So you play 38 hours with screen off? Including 30 hours without battery? Wow -- would you mind sharing that trick?
This is a really useful thread indeed, as one can not only learn which ROMs are available but also how stable/battery-saving etc. they are. What I'm still missing are the links to the ROMs sources. Would be great if you could include them! Thanks

Benefit of disabling CPU cores?

Is there a way to limit the amount of cores that can be active on a custom kernel? I am using eprj kernel and am able to disable 2 cores using trickster mod but I really want to try optimus kernel but I can't find out how to disable the cores
Also is there a significant battery improvement if you disable 2 cores and run at 1ghz or is it better to enable all cores and run at 716 mhz?
Sent from my Optimusx4 using xda app-developers app
I'm trying two cores in iodak at 1400 is really smooth but I can't tell anything about battery because I'm starting to try now, only thing I can tell you is that dual core at 1 is better than four cores at 716, why? Some apps runs great at 1 GHz and only use one core, so that app at 716 will work slow and laggy, there is not so much apps that works with all four cores enabled and that apps will work well in two cores enviroments

If the phone is hot when charging then you will get the slow charge. You can overcome this by going into the hidden settings and enabling the unlimited temp charging under charge test. Bu you will have to do it each boot within hidden menu. or you could install Iodak kernel and enable the fast charge. Set max 1200 min 102 cpu in trickster mod and remove tegra overclock because that seems to cause fast batt drain and overheating. (don' ask my why but many people have reported tegra overclock causing this)

Also if you tried the hidden menu unlimited temp charge make sure you have your usb cable unplugged or it will not work. Plug it in after you select the setting. But remember it does not stick so you need to do it each fresh bootup.
