Haptic feedback - Sprint HTC One (M7)

What is that dreadful rattle noise that seems to come with the haptic feedback of every HTC phone? Sometimes the feedback seems fine then the weird rattle comes back. Had this phone one day btw. Dropped it once though.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app

Have had mine for a few days now and has only had one fall from a few inches off the ground so I know my issue isn't from damage.
The haptic feedback seems okay for the most part, but any other vibration is crazy loud/rattles. Even while holding in your hand and not just rattling on the desk or something. Seems to be a common problem.

Sounds like a QC issue. It should not be like that. Mine is silent when vibrating, unless on a table or something hard that resonates the sound.

Interesting. Yeah mine makes the sound only when sitting on a hard surface, or if my hand is in a certain spot on the phone. I hate that sound so much though.

I can say that the vibration sound is quite loud and annoying. And it is only when holding it certain ways. Straight up a s down it makes no noise. At a 45° angle it is quite loud as well as holding it flat.

It's the worst! It's like this with every HTC phone I've had. I just turn off all haptic on HTC phones because it annoys me so much.
Makes me second guess not going with the s4

The vibration issue makes me want to take this back and exchange it in store. The data issues and next to impossible streaming capability(have not yet been able to stream a YouTube video using mobile data) make me want to just take it in and exchange for the s4.
The over all build quality and believe it or not, the ui and software makes me want to keep the One.
Still have about 10 days left to make my decision.

I pretty much feel the same way. I have 12 days. If the build and UI wasn't so sexy I would have already.
As I'm typing the vibration is getting more ridiculous.

I just don't get why it will go away then come back randomly.

Buzzing sound from Xperia Z

Recently noticed a slight buzzing sound coming from just behind the Xperia logo on the back of the Z when you knock on it (or place it on a table). When I asked the guys at the Sony store, it turns out that all the Xperia Z models there all have that buzz when you knock on it. Can anyone else confirm if they've got this too?

After reading you post I tried knocking on the back at the center but no, I don't hear any buzzing sound
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z using xda premium
Really? It's not very loud so if you hit the back with your fingernails, it's almost inaudible, but if you use the meat of your fingers, it becomes distinctive. I hope it's not just my country that gets these ones...

I tried a couple time with harder impact and I think I now understand what you were talking about. It's a buzzing sound indeed, but mine is quite minimal,(almost like you have to listen to it extremely carefully) I would say those are the sounds from the glass and the thing whatever it is contacting with.
My phone is naked without any case or shield, but I never hear these buzzing sounds ever when I put the phone on the table.

Ah yeah, that's the sort of thing mine is giving off, although mine buzzes when I put it on a table. Must be a design flaw on Xperia Z models or something
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
I put the phone close to my ears and hit the screen with my fingers with a fair amount of strength. No buzzing whatsoever.
It seems to be occurring nearer to the camera lens than the Xperia logo. Where did you get yours, and when was it manufactured?

Beating the sh*t out of mine ... didn't hear any buzzing sound but now my glass is broken ...... sorry just kidding I just hear a "tick" which comes from the cameralens i assume.
No buzzing or sound on mine.

Oh actually that would make sense. It does seem like something around the camera lens is loose, so that could possibly be the cause...
Seems like there are certain ones which do have a loose camera lens and some that don't. Does anyone know if they would exchange mine for a new one if I can prove that it's a bit of a manufacturing flaw? Mine buzzes quite a lot and it's driving me crazy...
I think that the powerbutton makes the sound. Maybe it is a little bit loose?
Nah it's definitely coming from around the camera

Me too i have a little buzz next to the camera but i think it's the camera's auto focus.annoying but not a big deal.

Well actually this is correcly designed. The cameralens is kind of "loose" because of the "focus" functionality.
Just found it a bit strange as I've never seen (or heard rather) camera lenses that have moved around within itself...

It's the autofocus. Absolutely normal, all phones have this.

[Q] Loose part inside HTC One

Do you also hear a small loose part moving somewhere near beneath the camera when you shake your phone? No big deal but just wondering if normal...

I've heard sometimes the SIM card slot could shake?
Maybe. Idk.
Tried shaking the phone close to my ear, heard some sound, got scared as hell. Realized it was just my phone brushing against my hair >___>
Still do hear something. Best guess: vibration motor or sim card moving around in the slot.
Might just be the camera itself rattling. It moves a bit because of the image stabilization feature. Its the same reason why you hear a small click when you first start up the camera.
If you're talking about a noise around the camera specifically, almost like a buzz/vibration, then yes, I have that and so did my Inspire 4G. Same sounds that after this phone having it, assumed it isn't anything too abnormal if both of them did it.
Well, to clarify, if I tap my finger around the top, it's a buzz, but if you just shake it, it's more of a click.
It's the auto focus mechanism in the camera. Nothing to worry about. Totally normal.
There was a big hey-ho about it when the iPhone 4 was released.

The Nexus 5 Defects Thread

Seeing how Nexus devices are somewhat more prone to defects than others (especially the 7 line?), how have your brand new Nexus 5s fared now that some of you have had the chance to play with it a little?
The power button is jiggly/wobbly and makes an audible 'clicky' sound when I tap on the screen near it or shake the device.
oh no here we go with the rattle noises

The buttons are ceramic, and a bit more weighty than the vinyl/rubber/plastic on other phones. I plan on a Diztronic case anyway, which softens the buttons/push action and quiets the rattles.

Any movement of the phone, not just a deliberate shake.
If anyone else has a nexus 5 and could weigh in on this thread it would be great. Just to find out if most peoples are the same and put this to bed early. Either its a one off fault or its just the way its supposed to be.
Would be great to hear from those that have the device and can give an honest answer to

Honestly I have the device and it makes such a tiny wobble and noise that we can call this device a success: if all you can pick out is that tiny nit pick from anything you can possibly find then you're just looking for problems.
I got nothing else. Battery is good, camera is good, phone feels fantastic in my hands, no software bugs, no weird earpiece buzz from n4, no multi touch issues, GPS works, Bluetooth works, anything else? I don't have USB otg to test...

Mine has pretty poor back light wash out at angles over 30 degrees or so. Its not strictly a poor viewing angle because there is no colour shift. Other than that it seems fine, no rattling, no obvious bugs.

A large amount of people will be weighing in tomorrow once the phones arrive. The only people that got it early were Brits from CPW.

Can you confirm that if you hold the power and volume buttons in place, then shake the phone, that the rattle goes away?
If it's still present then the rattle is most likely the camera module - my S3 has a similar rattle.
Upon further inspection yes my Nexus 5 power button does 'rattle' but its such a small niggle that I will ignore it, simply put if I tap (firmly!) the top right of the screen I can hear the rattle of the power button but thats it, no real backlight bleed nor any dead pixels battery seems pretty damn good and the earpiece is brilliant quality, need to check the mic mind.

crackling sound with a voice

I have my galaxy gear from att running stock with a few sideloaded apps. I have really enjoyed using the watch and use s voice for responding to texts. However the speaker sometimes sounds crackly. I don't know if I can fix it or need to take it back to att.
Any advice?

The farther I am from my phone when using s-voice, the worse it gets. If I'm next to my phone, it's fine. Go upstairs and phone down, it's crackly. I feel it's not the speaker but just the relay between phone and gear is weak, like when I used blue tooth headsets and would push the limits on distance.

i have same issue while using mostly at time the svoice app... thought it was a defect but sounds like a app on the most part

Omg thank you so much. Was blowing my mind how music/video, sound just fine. While S Voice kept cracking "manly used it when phone was away on charger" kept cracking. Then I put it in my pocket while standing and sound just fine.

Very low volume/sound...

Hi guys my gear is suffering from very low sound volume from the speaker, I can hear it its just very faint. It used to work fine, here is my set up ...stock NA3 which I have since downgraded to stock mk7 I also downgraded the gear manager and have performed multiple resets nothing seems to help. I don't think so though but I guess it's possible. ... It's in for warranty repair at the moment, I will update when I get it back. I think I may go to best buy and mess around with their watches and compare sound levels. See if it's normal to be lower or if mine is just low. I feel they should have included the speaker on the actual strap facing you (opposite the camera).
