[SOLVED] Modify photo sequence numbering after ROM upgrade - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have used the inbuilt gallery app functionality to organize my photos into albums. Albums are stored at \Pictures and removed from DCIM. So most of the time my DCIM folder are completely empty.
I flashed a new ROM with full wipe, and the camera app then starts to name images as image0001.jpg. When I try to organize my new shots into existing albums the gallery app asks if I would like to overwrite existing photos. This is logical because image0001.jpg already exists in an album.
I would like the camera app to continue to name my photos by adding to the highest value in the camera counter before I did the flash.
Is it
a) possible to modify the camera counter to a higher value?
b) backup the camera counter before flashing in the future?

Answering my own question Yes, it possible to change the camera image number sequence by altering \data\data\com.android.camera\shared.prefs\com.android.camera_preferences.xml
Procedure:
FC the camera app
Alter the line in the above mentioned config file
<int name="counter_imagefolder" value="#" />
where # is the desired start number-1 without leading 0's for the new sequence. So entering 10 will make the next photo name image0011.jpg
Hope this can be of any help to others

Wow you made it alot complicated lol! You could have just downloaded SQLite editor, edit the database of the camera app and adjust the counter there that way you don't have to decompile->recompile anything everytime you want to change the sequence number.

Froyo camera image file name changed?

On Android 2.1 the camera app would save images files named:
"2010-06-22 14.49.58.jpg"
Now on FRF83, images are being named like:
"IMG_20100628_114802.jpg"
Is there any way to change this back to the 2.1 naming style? It is easier to read, plus all the pics I have taken are already named that way, so I would like to keep it consistent.
I searched but didn't turn up anything.

Probably easier just to mount your SD card on a computer and use a batch rename command to update your old files with the new naming scheme.
As I said, I don't care for the new naming scheme. I find it unnecessarily difficult to quickly and easily read the date/time stamp.
Surely there is some way to change this...

That's not the case with photos already uploaded to Picasa. Picasa web albums are automatically displayed within the gallery. Unfortunately, the file name affects how they are sorted. Consequently, new photos I've uploaded to picasa show up after (i.e., to the "right" of) old photos I previously uploaded. So now, until the end of time, there is a chunk of photos in each Picasa album that will be "stuck" in front of new photos.
The only way I can "fix" this is by running a script my SD card to rename the new images to the old format and then using "Share" to upload them to Picasa.
The FroYo camera is really disappointing. My photos are washed out. They are named incorrectly. And the camera preview that used to zip up quickly to let me delete the last photo now forwards me to the gallery where I may have to wait minutes for the new photo to load. It's really upsetting.

[Q] Camera file name numbering

The XZ camera names the pictures in the usual manner: DSC_0001.jpg, DSC_0002.jpg, etc. So far so good. But as soon as I move the photos to my computer (and delete them from my phone), the camera starts all over again. 0001, 0002, etc.
Is there any way to stop the camera from starting the numbering all over and instead continue from where it left off? My phone is rooted, so I do have access to my system files.
I know it should be somehow possible, because all my previous Android phones do so. I've owned Samsungs and Motorolas. This is my first Sony.
Hi!
You can follow the following tips:
1) Keep the last shot (with the greatest number) in the phone, don't erase it. The next files will be numbered incrementally starting by the number of the left shot +1. At least Xperia Z is doing it this way.
2) Install an alternative camera software, for example lgCamera or CameraZOOM. They have better choices of file naming, for example you can use timestamps, which never repeat .
With regards, Pavel

Same problem here with Z3C. Very annoying and time waster. Interested in a good solution!
Have tried keeping the last file but even Sony's own pre-installed app that moves photos to SD card removes *all* files and effectively stuffs this up completely. How stupid idea can this be Sony?
Guys, this app solved my problem in regards to the filename being reset: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.ciubex.dscautorename
It's as easy as this:
Just put a jpg file into the DCIM/100ANDRO folder (where your photos are stored) and name it with the number before the one you wish to start on. For example, if you want your photos to begin at DSC_0501.JPG, name the file DSC_0500.JPG and the camera will begin counting from there. I tested this on a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact.

[Q] Photo folders

Is there a way to create new folders so that pics taken will go into that folder?

Camera 2 BTW
To my knowledge this can not be done in the native setup of the camera.
You may only select the storage location default of internal memory or SD card. The OS setups up standard folders in either case. This is probably done to keep to a simple standard and avoid potential errors and is common in digital cameras.
I would suggest that this is a better way of keeping files organized though. Have everything dump to one location and then sort them to appropriate folders from there. The gallery interface on the camera makes it very easy to move individual or multiple exposures.

how do I prevent viber from saving pictures to gallery

In an iPhone, viber allows manual saving of images. Meaning, clicking an image to enlarge gives an option to save. In android, even with all auto download toggles off, enlarging an image automatically saves to gallery.
line messenger on Android does it correctly, offering a download icon once you enlarge an image...
Anyone know how? Or viber just somehow didn't include this option in android...

Not using Viber may be?
You can place .nomedia file in the folder with My Files app. Images will not show up in Gallery if that helps.
The nomedia file option is a good one. I use an app called nomedia from the play store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrck.nomedia
Works and is easy to use. I had the same problem with Whatsapp.
You can try to deny the storage permission in app settings.

Viber saves the images on both devices. The difference is Viber saves images inside the app on iphone and Viber saves images inside Gallery on android. That's why when you go to settings on iphone and check the usage, you might see Viber taking high memory usage because all the photos are saved inside the app.

[MIUI][11][CAMERA] Change default watermark

Change default MIUI Camera watermark (Root access required)
[UPDATED]
Front camera watermark changing fixed.
TWRP Method:
Just download the file from HERE and flash via TWRP.
Manual Method:
Just open MiuiCamera.apk (Placed in /system/priv-app/MiuiCamera) in an archive manager (like 7Zip) and go to assets/watermarks.
The <code-name>.webp is for your main camera and <code-name>_front.webp is for front one.
No need to change common.webp, just edit those two files (in mine: laurus.webp and laurus_front.webp) with a photo editor.
I suggest you coping the apk file to PC and exporting watermarks folder, editing the files with Adobe Photoshop (you might need webp-shop plugin) and replacing watermarks folder in apk.
Then just replace apk file and clear camera app's cache and data, no reboot needed.
Enjoy it
There is also a magisk module that can change it. It's a lot easier but this is also a good method
Is there really someone using watermarks and voluntarily fu*king up their photos with them? What's the use case of this type of watermark? Except online publishing (where you add it in postprocessing anyway) I can't think of a single reason to add some useless, permanent text over photos. What am I missing?

Yes in photos that they're for showing camera resolution ?
But I made it because of the watermark on MIUI 11 is for cc9e and some one needs to change it back to MI A3.
