i agree, the sparkles on the back makes the white look ugly.

I hate white plastic! Why anyone would chose this over black is beyond me........maybe appealing to the girls?

I'm definitely hoping for this to be release. White tech looks so much nicer than black tech.

It is 16GB
Edit: We’ve had another look at the device and the storage is 16GB. It may be that this device is a 16GB one and there may be a 32GB one which we haven’t seen. Or it may just be that the White Nexus 4 has been a limited edition all along that is available only to very select developers. Maybe, just maybe the white Nexus 4 will never see retail release. At this point, all we can do is speculate.

It's not running a release ROM that's for sure as the build has something long with 'dev-keys' at the end of it as opposed to 'JOP40C' (which is Android 4.2, as shown in the video). Hardware looks legit, though

Nope, looks perfect. White back with black bezel, think about it, every screen looks so much better with a black bezel not white. The screen pops very nicely with a black bezel. So they didn't want to lose that factor. It's still an awesome looking phone.

It looks hot, but maybe it's just a girl thing. The sides look reflective, the back is sparkly (!!!!11!111!!!!) and my heart is just screaming WANT WANT WANT LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Nope. I like the black of my device, plus the weird two-tone the white has doesn't appeal to me. The back is white, but the front is black? That almost makes it look like a mod that someone decided to do instead of being professionally built.

would consider if bezel is matched white color.
otherwise... looks like a incomplete housing swap.

It's a girl phone, for girl nerds
Me Gusta!

Not my thing... But maybe the gf.

[Q] Galaxy Note White or Galaxy Note Black?

Samsung has recently brought in the White Note to the Indian Market.Does it beats the style and looks of the Black?
Depends on personal preference I guess. I personally liked the white one because it's more stylish and fingerprints are less visible. And if you want to stand out from the crowd then get the white. If you want to be discrete, get the black.

LOL I think having this beast in one's hands makes one "stand out from the crowd" Plus White is too Appleish.
WHITE!!! most of the devices around us are black..go for white..stunin 5.3 beast in white is awesome
Also love my white note, its a beauty beast
After looking at some pics of a white Note recently I liked it so much it made me have some buyers remorse. I hadn't bothered even looking at one before getting the black, thinking naaaah that won't look good but when I saw it I was like damn!!! that is sweet!!! it just looks better in white. Of course color preference is completely subjective so that's just MHO. If I could get my hands on a white one with 32Gb internal to further justify the expense, I'd buy it in a second, long as she was new in the box.
dude definitely go for the white one ...alothough i have a blue (black) one
coz when i got in dec ,the white one was apprx 35k and mine was 30k so 5k just for colour was not worth it

Agreed but I just couldn't justify the 400$ hickup on the white one. Still happy with my black one though don't want people staring when I'm using an already eye catching phone.

LOL, you have a point. Although I kind of disagree with the white Note being Appleish. I had a white HTC trinity a year before iPhones came out so as far as I'm concerned, iPhones are HTCeish.
i've seen a video of it in white and it looks so sexy. I wish I had another month's patience to get white note. but yea as someone else said it all depends on preference
It's actually blue (very dark blue) not black, and white, but that's not a serious matter.
As for me, I always take the black variant when I buy devices with screens. The black bordering the screen makes the video experience 'cleaner' or 'brighter' or something --- can't think of the proper word for it. Something of a more genuine cinematic feel; the same feel demonstrated in a movie house with the lights off.
Of course, that could just be psychological and/or aesthetic but it does go easier on the eyes at any point. I'd try to cite sources but I'm too lazy atm. Of course, when you use the Note in the dark, there would be likely no difference. However, this preference for me in such devices only applies to the screen area. I once had my hands on a Nintendo DS Lite whose interior is black but the outer cover is red but it pleases me all the same. Same thing with the Note whose back is just some very dark blue.
Another thing though, the device looks super cool when the screen is off. Like the front is just a black, shiny slab that comes to life in a push of a button. :3
You gotta admit though, white is very eye-catching. Overkill on the eye-catching factor sometimes too.
My personal opinion - white is more for the female type of users I think. I've hold a galaxy s2 white and although it is very sexy, most people in my surroundings find it more suited for women.
Now, the White Note is very stylish in its white housing there's no doubt about it.....but if you check the streets, you'll notice that most women hold white phones and it looks this color is destined for the lady's market rather than male. The White housing gives the phone a sexy soft appealing look to the overall design. To choose between a black or white, I'll opt for the black at 101%. Just my personal thoughts about this.

was about to opinion the same. As per color theory black is more suited for better video experience. Haven't come across a theater with white surrounding near the screen.
Black is best. White could be more dirty with the time.

My white note has the exynos, I think you will find that the difference in chips is between the european or international ones and the version for the US carriers which are probable going for the snapdragon because of compatability with US LTE
Personally I think my white note looks totally cool, but then I've never worried about what other people think, I just get what I like and to hell with the rest of the world

If we could have gotten a white backing, I would still have chosen black. A white, textured, rubber back would get pretty dirty over time. Also, after having a white iPad 2, I will never get a white-bezeled device again. It's distractingly bright, especially when I'm trying to read.
Dark gadgets all the way.
Speaking of colours, has anyone seen the Brown version?
Its on preorder here in the UK and would like to know what it looks like before buying.

Black vs White subtle differences

I got a chance today to get hold of both variations. Other than the obvious color on the back, there are several subtle differences:
1. Earpiece color, black vs white
2. Side finish, matte vs glossy
3. Back finish, soft-touch vs regular matte plastic (contrary to what Engadget reported)
I was going to grab the white one for the look, but after getting them in my hands, I changed my mind. That soft touch back on the black one is really comfortable to touch (I don't plan on using a case anyway). Also, I prefer the earpiece to be black.
Also take a look at this post:

Weak, I didn't know that (about the finish on the back) or I too would've opted for black.
So the conclusion is that white has the better looking and the black is more comfortable for using?

16gb white was all that was available when i hit the play store yesterday so that's what i ordered. i like the black / white combo on this device and ordered the white spiegen ultra fit case to show it off.
won't really matter how the back compares against the black once the case is on there.

Well yes, this is my opinion, although IMO white is just slightly more appealing if it also have a soft touch back.
I guess having soft touch on white is either very difficult, or will make it stain/turn yellow easily
I always believed that the white one will not have soft touch, until I read the Engadget report...but it turns out to be false
I have a white GS3 and love white devices but after never being able to get a case or bumper that can stay clean, I opted for the black Nexus 5.
Man, if I had known the white wasn't a soft-touch stain magnet, I may have considered it more. That white ear piece grill is ugly, though.
Now that you mention it it makes sense that they wouldnt go soft touch with the white. Makes me long for the black one now. Im not usually one to put my phone is a case, but I think without the softback I might go with a case this time around and see how it works. Regardless, they both look like great pieces of hardware

Man thats disappointing. I was looking forward to the white. Did the back cover feel like the same type of plastic on the white HTC HERO? I Wish I could get hands on both. I was really up for the white but the ear piece looks silver in pics and I thought it would really detract from the gorgeous screen always catching your eye.
Shame they really should have documented that there was a difference in the two models and how they are finished.
Also how did the glossy sides feel of the white one? Im assuming the white is aimed stereotypically at the female market hence the glossy glossy sides.

I don't know how it compares to Hero... My first Android device is the GNex. It feels similar to white Note 3's back.
The sides shouldn't make that much difference in feel, I guess (I didn't check that out).

Let's put it this way, in was stood with the black in one hand and the white in the other, could have had either and I walked away with the white

ALL the phones/tablet he show in the comparison have greasy prints all over
Even the two-year old phone I use everyday is much cleaner...
Yeah looking at YouTube vids the white is soft touch. The sides are definitely glossy I actually think it looks more premium than the black.
However the white earpiece cover is freaking unforgivable in my eyes who thought that was a good idea. Its so freaking distracting.
It may be good so you can quickly pick up the phone the right way up but coming from a gnex my eye is drawn to it since its the same size as the notification light on my nexus.
Also watching any video on this and your always going to be drawn to the white dot. If they were willing to do that they may as well have made the whole thing white. The point in the black front is to stop glare or light reflection so as not to distract from the screen. This does the opposite.
It reminds me of a mini galaxy tab when it first came out. I liked that and I like this just not the white earpiece. Silly design feature.

White makes the color of the screen pop.
Probably should add 'Undecided' as an additional option ... I think a lot of people are still thinking through black or white.
I'll most likely choose black, because it seems to stand out better when laying around, which would make it some what easier to find. And then again I could buy a white one then slap a black otterbox on it...right..
Probably I'll pick black. I like darker colors more. My Note 2 is also grey.

Lighting in the videos makes it look black especially in the android authority ones. But ask anyone who has seen it in real life and they'd tell it's grey. Somewhat similar to the Note 3 in greyness except the back cover of the note 3 was actually black compared to this one.

Ugly black border on Soft Gold version.

Seriously, I can't use the phone without noticing these thick black borders. The soft gold variant appealed me because Oneplus photoshopped out the black borders inside the bezels. Why oneplus why?
Furthermore, I don't have any option to return the phone as I've imported it. I am hating the phone that I wanted to love.
Do not buy in Soft Gold, it's ugly.

yeah... all the white phones have this as the screen that is active does not end where bezels start. That's why on black version is not noticeable even though it is there.
this is why I don't buy phones that has a white front. I like em black

I noticed the same. I will return it as soon as my graphite version gets in the mail. The white screen makes this phone look like those cheap $60 chinese phones.

Yes, but not to the level of this phone. Apple, to their credit shiw the border(which is thinner than on OP3 anyway) in the promotional pictures. But if you look at OP3's website the gold color is shown without any border. I feel bit cheated.
I'm overacting a bit but I'm really regretting the fact that I don't have an option to exchange it for a black one.

Why did you want the soft gold version in the first place? Looks like a phone for Russian girls anyway.
Get a normal one, problem solved.

It looked cleaner and elegant in the promotional pictures. The gold on it doesn't look girly. Shame for the white front though.

Because they might live in a country where they don't have access to do so.
I just received my "russian girl" OP3... first thing, it is not bling-bling at all, the gold tone is very soft, and yes the white face is a little of a shock to me since this is the very first time I have a phone with a white face, but I'm sure I will get used to it. It does not look like a cheap chinese telephone at all as someone said, which is funny because this IS a cheap chinese phone .
The only thing I do not like is the screen protector that comes with it, it is like wearing a size S t-shirt when you are size L .
Forgot to say that the black line around the screen is a non issue for me.

You're able to buy the phone but not to compare the different product pictures?

No I couldn't as I live in Kashmir. My phone was purchased from Dubai by someone else.

Funny thing is I like the gold on the back, white front is not too flashy until you turn the display on. I'm using the phone on dark mode to hide the borders.
May be it's just OCD? no?

For me this Soft Gold model is just perfect for it's price. The tiny black border doesn't bother me at all, it's on all white front phones I've seen and used. Otherwise it's also much better than I expected after reading these threads here and on OnePlus forums complaining just about anything. Very positively surprised.
It's all about personal taste and preference I guess!
@brickedvice could you post a photo of the Soft Gold phone with the screen protector that has black top and bottom? I'd love to see how it looks
