"Unknown" in call history when making phone call - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have an HTC one with Android Revolution 8.0.
Each time i make a phone call, the number appears in the call history with the correct contact linked but another "unknown" phone call appears at the same time at the top of the history list.
Anyone's having the same issue ?
Thank you !

Its feature off the app
Headset button controller puts a entry for unknown to override double tap redial feature offered by sense.
HTC sense offers feature to redial last number on double tap of headset button, Now most of us are used to pressing double tap to skip to next song. Now there is no way a app can disable this as all hardware interrupts are first intercepted by Core OS i.e. Android then overlaying framework i.e. Sense and then app. so this app intelligently pus a null entry on top of list. so that it can use double tap interrupt for other things like fwding to next song.
Now if you dont want this feature and want to switch back to defauly sense behavior you can go to Headset button controller setting ->advanced tab-> advanced settings and uncheck Redial Fix (HTC)
cheers

Call log / list - right button not working!

Is it just on my diamond, that in the dialer the left and right button does not work anymore?
Are there solutions to open the call list without using the menu?
Thanks!

try a search in the xda-developers\development and hacking.
there are a lot of dialers with the history button on them. the problem is that i do not recall any of them working for VGA...
In the PHONE mode (Dialer) you have 'Contacts' on the left, and 'Menu' on the right.
If you look in the center, there is another Icon.
Tap on it.. and you have the call history

Function for Contacts is now video call after official rom upgrade ... HELP !!!

Hey Folks
I upgraded to the official Hong Kong ROM upgrade on my HTC Diamond & whilst impressed by the speed improvements I have a major bug that annoys the hell out of me & thus hope some genius reading this can help fix the problem
On the home tab using the "phone" icon it then shows recent calls. However the left hand button that used to show "contacts" now shows "video call". I never want to make a video call & contacts is far more useful .... but there is no obvious way to change the function
Hoping someone can help
Chill dude.
This ain't a bug, it's a feature.
Personally, I do find video-call usefull, but ill prefer "send SMS"
Do U really need contacts? You can use the keypad T9 to find the person U want to call easily...
Circle your finger around the middle button and it rips thru contacts!

Use your favorite registry editor to navigate to [HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila] and change the following values:
"HomeLSKPath=addrbook.lnk" 'that's the application you want to use
"HomeLSKText=Contacts" 'that's the text that will be displayed on the left soft key on your Home screen
Do a soft reset.
Now your Left Soft Key will display Contacts, so when you press it, you shoul go directly to your contacts. Enjoy!
I've changed mine to Comm Manager.

Do you know the keys for the phone app? I bet there are 100 people wanting those. I think that is what kgb-agent is looking for.

I don't have a clue how to change softkeys within the phone app, sorry. Looks like I have misread the original post...
Thanks Heretic & others
Yep ... me & 1000 others want to change the key in the phone app
With CT's rom version 4 if I tap Phone soft key on Today screen then tap the little phone icon between the video call and menu softkeys it removes the keypad and leaves me with last call and contacts list...
No ideas anyone .... it is really bugging me
For me i just disabled the phone skin with the Advanced Config tool. It reverts back to the old WM6 design. I still prefer that. Do note that once u do this, the vibration when a call connects is disabled.
Hey KGB-Agent, I have exactly the same problem...and it is bugging me as well! I upgraded my dutch ROM yesterday :-( Another problem I have is that when I look at my contacts the SIM contacts are not displayed, even when I configure this in Advanced Config Tool...HELP! Anyone else an idea how to fix???
Your contacts are opened when your in the phone app, just scroll! why do you want it to open another contacts process when its already there?!? up and down or as i already said circle the middle button with your finger
Hi Blaze,
Circling with my finger in the middle button doesn't work for me. Furthermore, with "Contacts" I could quickly scroll down with the Alphabet on the right to f.e. the letter Z. The way you recommand it takes me ages to get to the "Z"!
I called the HTC helpdesk, they advised me to do a Hard Reset. Of course...that didn't work...:-(
Go to start and choose contacts its the same screen.
I agree the videocall is a bad choice from the makers of this rom.
Most people do not use this kind of calls.
Grtzzz
I have the same issues with the loss of functionality Ries
I cant believe there are not more complaints
I emailed HTC 4 days ago with no answer :<
@kgb-agent: I phoned the helpdesk. They said I had to do a hard-reset!?! I couldn't believe it, but okay, I tried it...and what do you think: I still have the problem! :-( I guess we have to live with it...bad choice from the developers...
same problem
up
Two things:
1) why don't people use the smart dialling feature? this is where when in the phone keypad, you just spell out your contact using the alphanumeric keypad (it uses T9 to search) and it displays your search results in real time at the top of the dial pad... MUCH easier than the contacts screen - try it.
2) circling the middle button with your finger does NOT work for me, i have no idea how that is working for you since the diamond is not meant to be able to scroll using that 'wheel' unless you have installed some 3rd party software for it, or its unique to your ROM/region.

I think he meens the total call duration you find in "device info" where you have total min. and sec. of outgoing and incoming calls. That was what I thought that cant be reset, or you must hack your phone totaly

The request from fabio84 was not to clear Call History but rather to remove Call Duration which once again is found under:
Start>Setting>System>Device Information>Call Duration
I've seen this done with older HTC models (Hermes) using Mitty.exe
I have not seen a way of doing that either. I know on my elfin whenever i flashed a rom it would completely reset it.

"Start recording" item under Phone application?

Can someone tell me, which function has a Start recording item under the right menu in Phone application? I see this on my Diamond2 with official 1.39.479.1 ROM, but when I try to click on it (during active phone call), than this button donĀ“t do anything.
Is it forgotten function from HTC?
Yep ... didn't notice it but it's there (Dutch version)
Maybe it's reserved for the Touch pro 2 ?
I think it's for recording voice notes after the call.
Shame, I'd love to be able to record a call at the touch of a button!
R
I expect it will be included in the Touch Pro2 ROM ...
If it is, it won't take too long before there's a cab version on these forums for the TD2

You can! I just did it. During a call you go to the notes section of the contact and there will be a red recording button at the bottom. The only downside is that it is not attached to the contact, but is placed in "My documents" and "calls". I wish it would be easily accessible under the specific contact's notes.
I tried this but it only records my side of the conversation (was using headphones - if that makes any difference). I also saw the greyed-out 'record call' button on the right menu. It would be AWESOME to get this working!
Yes, it is possible to record conversations, with both incoming and your own voice!!!!
Some guys found a way to patch the Registry so you can record conversations 2-ways.

I have installed the 2_Way_Plus_InCall_Recording cab from the last link and installed Resco Audio Recorder, it perfectly records all my conversations automaticly!!!
Without Resco Audio Recorder or other extra software you can also record manually by pressing the record option in the dialer menu.
The files will be saved in mydocuments/notes

It works!
But now I noticed a problem.
The device won't turn itself off anymore after 1 minute.
Do you have a solution for that?

No, here it still works, but sometimes my phone changes settings by itself, so maybe it has been changed by itself?
No need to play with the registry, the call needs to "connect" for the grayed out "start reording" is able to be pressed, mine records both ways and it ends after the call ends.

yes, so what ..?
What's it not doing? Not announcing?
I played around with mine and eventually got it to work. For example I unchecked the "high priority only" on the message alert and got that to finally work. Not sure what constitutes a "high priority" other than any message from my wife, lol!
@RatRedux, thanks for your response! I just can't assign it to a button, also, I've the American version, and it can't really understand my British accent in most commands...how did you assign a button?
managed to remap the registry key as follows:
# Goto HKLM\Software\ Microsoft\Shell\Keys
* - Click Open Key named "40C6"
* - Change the 'Default' string name to "\Windows\Voice Command.lnk"
* - Now change the 'ResetCmd' string name to "\Windows\Voice Command.lnk"
Now close Registry, and go back to device and click the button on the top left side which is indicated by the 'Speak' Icon, and it should now work for you!

I only ever used voice commands with my bluetooth headset so I never bothered to set a button on the phone. It works most of the time but it doesn't help that my wife and neice and daughter and sister in law have similar sounding names so it occasionally wants to dial the wrong relative lol! I turned off the announce incoming calls since my Blueant T1 has it's own built in voice caller ID. Though I must admit the lady who lives inside my phone sounds a bit nicer than the lady inside the bluetooth!
We haven't figured out how to set up Google voice in my wife's Android phone so I must give my old "brick" (as my wife calls it) a nod since it worked right away even on my old junk headset.
