[Q] Location detecting error !! - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi people !
Since few hours ago I get a error in google maps which says please enable a location services in the setting. It used to be fine before that.
The wireless option is checked, gps is off as always. Also the option for accessing is on in accounts and services. All other apps are also having problem finding my location while connected to a wireless network/LTE/3G.
I googled every where and couldn't find a solution.
I uninstalled/erased user data/restarted google maps and also turned off and on my phone, still no help.
Any solution to this ? Thank You !!

Unfortunately no solution, but I can report the same problem.
After trying everything without success, I did a factory reset. Now Google maps location via network is working again, but other services still have problems, such as news&weather, browser location etc.
I guess there was a bug introduced with some of the new Google apps...
Gesendet von meinem HTC One mit Tapatalk 2

Thank you for your response.
So even no luck after the factory reset ? Then I guess the best solution is to contact Google directly and report the porblem.
I think I got this problem after updating google search

Anyone else having this problem or has a solution to it ?

I am also having this problem. Just started today. I updated some Google apps recently too.
I've tried everything but a factory reset but still no luck. If it's a bug I hope they release an update soon

Same problem here in Canada. I wonder it is related to the roll out of their new Google location services : http://mashable.com/2013/05/15/google-location-services/

Same problem here since a few days! Hoping for a fix soon.

So I guess it's a common problem.
When I turn on my GPS instantly, even indoors, maps finds my location right away. I guess it's probably a small bug.

İ have same issue too. Last night have had taken some pics.all have sattelite info . But this morning get some pics doesnt have any info.
By the way facebook doesnt shows location info on my posts.
Neighter instagram so on. .from turkey
---------- Post added at 11:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 PM ----------
When I turn on GPS pics can have coordinats even there is no GPS signal.

It's an issue caused by the latest Google search update. I have the same issue on my phone. Beautiful widgets is draining my battery because it can't find a location. Really frustrating.

how strange, i did not make any update.

Same problem here with my htc one. After going back to factory settings it worked fine for a couple of days. But now the troubles are back again. Really frustrating. I can imagine it has something to do with an update of Google search. It was updated May15th. Approximately then the trouble started. Come on google!

Good news!
Hi everyone,
Couldn't see an update on this anywhere so thought I would share this with you as I've come across this post which is some good news saying this location problem is fixed:
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/mobile/LEPcl9e3dYE[1-25-false]
Hi folks,
Thanks for your help and patience while we investigated your reports.
We've determined that for some users running Android 4.1, the latest update to Google Play services caused Google's location service to stop working in some cases.
For those specific users where Google's location service wasn’t working correctly, we pushed an update which fixes this.
To get the update:
1. Open the Play Store app (version 4.1.10) on your device
2. Restart your device after 1-2 minutes
To verify that the fix has worked, you can open Google Earth, which should give a location fix after you restart the device.
Note:
- Your device will need an active network connection in order for these steps to work.
- You may have to wait a couple of days to receive version 4.1.10 of the Play Store app.
- To check your version of the Play Store app: Open the Play Store app. Touch Menu (three dots at the top), then select Settings. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to see your 'Build version.

My ONe still hasn't received the Play store update to 4.1.10, but at least they have found the problem and hopefully in a couple of days our devices should be working again

[APP] Google Play 3.10.10

For those who can't wait for Google to roll it out automatically, here's the new Play Store. The site where I got this says the changes are simply bug fixes but I did notice it looks a little different, like the font seems to match the new 4.2 roboto font. Try it out and correct me if I'm wrong.
How to install:
Using root explorer, copy the file to /system/app after deleting the original Play Store app. Fix permissions then reboot. After rebooting, you might also want to clear the Play Store app data before using it for the first time. Initial impression is that it seems to be faster and more buttery than the previous versions. Download link below:
Phonesky.apk
Thanks! This new version definitely seems faster.
i get the update last night
Yeah me too.
Yep same here. Looks like they're rolling it out anyway.

Thanks for sharing it here. It has now rolled out worldwide so everyone can update easily.
Apart from this, here is what comes new in Play Store 3.10.9.
HI,
Since the last version of depuis kfgoogle Play, I Just can't DL Any app with it New neither New app nor updating my apps.
What I tried :
Reboot.
Forced close
Erase Personal data of the app
Google writes something about reconnecting gtalk in some "pb resolution", I tried that.
I even uninstall the updates down to thé market v2.x.x
Nothing good there neither.
The last version is back by itself with no amelioration
Every time I try to DL something, I get thé "New page" informing about starting DL, t'en in the notification bar appears "/!\ connection error"
I did had à Error code thé first few time, not any more.
I'm connected to m'y google account, I've no pb to send something to m'y phone from my desktop via thé Play Website.
I'm kind of lost here
Help ?

Thank you for any suggestions.

OP updated. < via xda app>
i have installed it, but it just won't launch.
Any help for my weird Problem ?
The new fact is that i CAN download some app with the good old market, when I uninstall all the updates.
But now, I've lost the list of my apps..., well, at least until I update them or something...
Ho.. And I sent a message to google, their solution was "RESET your phone".. not a such engineering .

@gregaste : Any update on your problem?
Been having the same issue. Jumped through all the hoops but to no avail. The guys at Google are not being helpful at all.
Weird bit is, apps do update over the carrier network if I trigger the update from the web instead of the Play store app.

Unable to contact location service to update your current location

I unlocked my Rogers HTC One the other day and now I'm seeing this error when I try to use location aware apps such as the camera and when I refresh my weather. GPS seems to work fine in apps like maps but the phone no longer seems to know where I am. Any ideas? This is annoying and also means my camera is no longer creating events based on my location.
Having the same issue, with my still stock HTC one. Anyone has a solution? :/
There is another thread on here reporting same problem and have seen this mentioned on other forums too.
It seems to be a bug in the latest app updates from Google. Don't think there is a fix for this yet but some users reported a factory reset fixes the problem, but I am hoping for a quick fix from Google rather than resorting to reset
It is very frustrating tho! Btw I'm also on stock Rom

[Q] Any workaround for Google play services battery bug?

Hey guys,
Is there any known effective workaround for the battery drain issue on 4.4 with google play services?
I have installed the newly released Google play services 5.0 but this is still an issue and causes the phone to get VERY hot during charging

Cleared cache and so far seems to be working with v5.0! Thank you!
This is actually something I was trying to find a work around today.
Mind linking me the Play Services 5.0 you're using? I'd really like to try this.

Thanks for that. Gave it a go, got a result similar to the thread maker's. Was a dream come true, really.
Then it came back again. Didn't do anything different, just eventually came back into play on next reboot.
Uninstalled updates from Play Services entirely and rebooted, got the same effect. I don't think it's 5.0 fixing it, just the other play(s) causing it. Still running as 'uninstall updates' version (whatever it is-- lemme check... 4.0.33) and I've not had an issue with it coming back on. If it doesn't last then I have no clue how to fix this.
Sorry to be a pest and bump / double post.
But I havn't had it come back since I did an 'Uninstall Updates' from Settings > Apps > All
I don't know why this would be so darned weird... But for anyone who hasn't tried it... I guess, sadly try it - and the link that Androidtweaker gave.
When I installed the Play Store that Androidtweaker linked, I did nothing but play games for like 2 hours on my phone - No issues. Kept playing, 4 hours later popped back up. I play Puzzles & Dragon's and link it to my Google+, so I thought they might have triggered all the play services since it is Google Games.
However I uninstalled updates and now it's the 1st of July where I am (3 days later), with Uninstall Updates and playing P&D with G+, I don't have any Play Service Issues.
Sorry I couldn't be of help to anyone who comes to this thread via google searching. Perhaps installing the latest Play Store then deleting cache/dalvik helped cut out some issue hidden within somewhere?...
In settings/location, set to device only. Its google location reporting causing the issue. Setting it to device only utilises just GPS for location.

Google play store

Is there any issue with it. I'm using stock note 8 and when I try download or update an app it takes long time. Any ideas. Thanks for your help

Your issues with Play store, reminds me of 2 x similar incidents, i had with my old Note devices.
Think it was Note 3 and my Note 4. Not sure.
Unfortunately It was a few years back!
eg.
When i tried to download, an apps update etc and
app size was eg 2mb or 5 mb.. etc I struggled to download.Very frustrating!
Eventually after a week or 2, maybe 3.
i was able to pinpoint
the the "suspect"
(Unfortunately i cannot remember clearly ,
but it was either, that i had sideloaded
wrong updated version of Play services apk
(Cleaning Play services cache did not help.)
or it was an Xposed /Xposed model.
(So phone was also rooted)
Anyway ,
i then decided to factory reset and Playstore
was working fine again.
Bottom line is
you can either look for the "suspect"?
causing this.
( I know there was a few threads about similar issues with Playstore, on XDA... way back then ! )
or save yourself from the frustration it's causing?
and try a "clean" Factory reset.!
Good luck
Have you tried cleaing the cache data in the internal storage? That usually helps with this sorta issue.
Tried that not working in either what you said

Is it on wifi or data?
Reset router modem.
Do other apps lag like YouTube or Netflix.
Download speed bad in your area.
Uninstall GP updates and try to reinstall them or apk from web.
Is updating apps through wifi only ?
Clear out all pending updates and restart device.
Do you have another device or friends to see if it's the same problem on theirs too for your region.
Try a different proxy.
Just throwing some ideas around!!
Go into your Google settings and see if you have it to update using wifi only I personally always turn auto updates off.. I had this problem with my Note 8 when I 1st got it. How I fixed it was I went into settings and went to apps and cleared the cache and data on Google play services and playstore and foreclosed them and then went to accounts and removed my Google account and restarted my phone.. when my phone rebooted I went to the playstore and had to login fresh again and that fixed the problem.
I fixed it by factory resetting phone. Thankfully I backed it all up

Play Store downloads/updates stuck at 99%

I'm using a Note9 that's only a month old. The last 2 days, any app updates or new apps I'm trying to download get stuck at 99% (sometimes 100%). Things I've tried so far:
* Resetting the Play Store to default and deleting data/cache
* Wiping the cache of the whole phone
* Disabling the Google app (per suggestions I found elsewhere)
* Uninstalling Nova Launcher (per suggestions)
* Wiping the cache/data of the Download Manager
It's driving me up the wall. No idea what to try. Any advice?
This is the same issues I've been having, especially since updating to Android Pie. Only small fix I found was just closing all apps and run Device Care on a download, then it worked. I don't know if this is an actual fix though.
Are you using any package blockers or anything disabled via adb? If yes one app too many was blocked

I am not.
I've ran into this problem but only when having a unstable Wi-Fi connection. Specifically a bad power supply on the router.
And a lot of business wifi like in hospitals and stuff they have blocking software to keep the employees from watching movies and game of thrones and things like!

So, no one has found a solution to the stuck-at-99% download problem for Google Play Store?

Only Google.
I'm experiencing this problem as well (Samsung Galaxy Note 10+). This started happening 2 days ago.
Also, another strange thing is happening: The Blue light filter, and Digital Wellbeing grayscale filter, are not starting/stopping at the correct times, they are delayed (sometimes by hours).
The worst part is, my previous phone (Galaxy Note 8) had the exact same issue(s). I endured it for a long time. I was excited to ditch the Note 8 for a phone that worked... Oh well
I generated a debug log, and I'm combing through it now. I don't understand everything I'm looking at.
Here are some attempted fixes, that did _not_ fix the issue on the Note 8:
* Clearing the Google Play store and services caches.
* Removing my Google account, then signing back in.
* Factory reset, then reinstalling everything from scratch. (The issue started happening again, within 1 day.)

Thanks for your response. I just tried this, disabled the Google Play app, then restarted the device. I re-enabled Google Play, unfortunately the issue is not fixed. I'm looking at my 13 pending updates, the first one (Nova Launcher) is stuck at 100%, and is not moving/updating at all.

Thank you very much!
I double-checked that apps were unable to update (Netflix was stuck at "77%"). I disabled the Google app, and restarted the phone. I left Google disabled.
... Netflix took longer to update (it stalled at "77%" again), but it did finish successfully. Now the other apps are downloading and installing! Nice. Hopefully this is a permanent (or at least reproducible) solution to the issue.
Do you know *why* the Google app would be interfering with app updates? I'm genuinely curious.

Did you find out what was causing this issue? I have had to disable my "google" app to allow updates. Are you using a s8 ? We should compare apps to see if something we have in common is causing this issue.

Yes i disabled it, but that must be related to another issue. my girlfriend has the same s8 and no issues. Must be related to multiple google accounts or something that differs from my phone to hers.
Perhaps fully off-topic or just the solution, did you disable or remove Chrome? I know my Note 9 shows similar behaviour when I debloat and remove Chrome. Once I updated the WebView app all runs fine. So I always update WebView before anything else. But then again I only notice this behaviour once I remove or disable Chrome browser.
