First, do a factory reset - you shouldn't have any saved networks when you start. The first rule of flashing new roms is clean, clean, clean before you wipe. 80% of all problems I see when flashing are caused by dirty flashes. After you install this ROM, once it's stabilized, then you can think about wiping only dalvik and cache before flashing.

yeah that is what i did, i wiped everything, after i set it up i added my home network, then when at my office i added office network, i still really like the ROM and the wifi thing is not really an issue to me

I've been running XenonHD for the past five days. Mostly, it's excellent -- stable, smooth and fast as claimed. But I'm having persistent problems with signal strength and with data speeds. It's not that I can't GET data, it's that my signal strength is measurably less now than it was with a stock ROM in places where I know how strong my signal should be, I almost never get an indication that I'm connecting at 4G speeds even in places where I used to maintain 4G and my data reception is spotty to the point that web sites and Play Store come back "no signal" now in places where they never did before. From these comparisons I believe I know that the issue ISN'T that my connection is the same but the indicators are different but rather that my connections (reception, data speed, 3G vs 4G) are worse than they were.
I'm running the latest version of XenonHD on my Verizon XT926 and I wiped everything completely before installation. My installation went very smoothly. I don't have video recorder and I can't tether but both of those shortcomings were known before I flashed the ROM. My data signal strength problems are bad enough that, if I can't improve my situation, I may look for another ROM.
Are there settings in the ROM that could improve my data speed and connectivity? Is there a patch or an app that will at least get me back to the level of connection performance that I had on stock? If so, I'll be happy to use XenonHD as my DD.

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. The team is composed of former members of Team Liquid who have forked the code in an attempt to bring greater speed, better coding, and full authorship to code. We are in no way affiliated with Liquid0624. The rom was forked at Liquid beta 3.2.1 and has since undergone major code changes and modifications. Please note that on some devices the kernel is not yet linaro compiled.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

So....video recording will not work on this ROM I assume? This is the only thing I'm holding out on before I unlock my bootloader and load any 4.2.x ROM
There is an 11 page thread with 200+ replies about this ROM over on Droid-Hive. There's a link to the thread in the OP. The recurring problems I've read about over there are difficulty with GPS lock, lack of screen brightness control, lack of video recording capability, overheating. From what I've read the only one of those issues that seems widespread (rather than some having the problem and others NOT having the problem) is lack of video recording. I'm still running stock ROM 4.1.2 rooted with unlocked bootloader but I'm reading all the time about custom ROMs. Haven't found the one I'll take the plunge on as I need the functions that typically are problematic (Bluetooth, camera, etc) but from what I've read Carbon seems like a solid choice.

I've been running Carbon for about a week now and from personal experience here are the issues I've encountered.
1) No video recording
2) The phone can run hot when used for a little bit
3) Random reboots have increased. I didn't have one until about day 3 in and yesterday I had 3.
4) I would say the data signal is not quite as strong.
5) I can't personally send MMS. I was able to for about a day but after a random reboot, i was unable to get it to work again. But no one else seemed to have that issue.
I personally had no difficulties with GPS or Brightness. There is a new build out released yesterday but for me the brightness was stuck at 100% so I reverted back to the older version until that's fixed. Just thought you guys might want to hear from someone who's been using it as a DD. It's awesome - probably the best ROM out for the HD right now. But of course it has it's flaws.
Been running this since late last week and so far it's the best 4.2 rom I've used. I've not seen a single random reboot, GPS and MMS work fine and battery life is comparable to the other 4.2 roms I've installed. I have seen some sluggishness that required a manual reboot (wiping caches for good measure) to fix. I did noticed the phone running a bit hot a few times, but nothing much worse than other custom roms. Overall it's smooth and responsive with great customization options.

I agree it is probably the best choice available. According to the dev, the update was just a new link...not an actual update. I was going to flash it until I read that. I've had the reboot issue but considering where this phone was a month ago, I am happy.
Also there is a new CM10 over at the Razr site. I am going to give it a try this weekend but it will have to be flawless for me to leave Carbon.

I went back to Nexusque today. After nearly a week with perfect GPS on this rom it just decided it did not want to lock even though it had a fix on 14 birds this morning.
After a reboot the GPS would not work at all. Booting into recovery and wiping cache and dalvik made no difference either. Oh well, next time it's updated I'll give it another look.

I had the same problem. I had to install from a stock based ROM (I used the 4.1.2 stock). Now GPS is working after each reboot (which unfortunately is like 3-4 times a day) I get if you want to wait for an update, but wanted to let you know there is possibly a solution out there if you really want to use this ROM.

Yeah, I'm sure the GPS stock-lock boogie would get it fixed, but I'm kinda past wanting to bother with it. I love this rom, but if things are just going to spontaneously break like that I would just as soon camp on a stock based rom till Hashcode gets the 4.2 kernel done.
the ROM sounds nice, i downloaded it and tried to set it up, but i have a question, i am using the phone overseas, so i am not on Verizon, how can i add APN settings please? and how to select GSM only? thanks in advance

if just i can find how to enter the APN settings, it used to be under the access point name
ok i found the APN settings, i entered the APN, the same i used to use all the time on other ROMs but there is no internet, i think it is ROM related, i dont know why i cant post on DH till now, i posted on post, after that i cannot post that is why i am posting here

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Some (not all) seem to experience issues with GPS. If you have issues with GPS, please flash the official JB from Moto/your provider and then flash Carbon. GPS should work now. (I've also heard you can just flash back to stock, get a lock, then flash Carbon again...)
While capturing a picture to send via MMS, ensure HDR is deselected - Gallery will cause a force close if HDR is enabled!! (Note - HDR works for normal still photos, just not MMS.)
Update Google Search (manual update), or else any voice searches will fail with FC. Update the app, and it is resolved.
Please use the provided gapps below. They are the official Google ones for 4.3.

Alright folks! I have submitted the merge requests, I really hope they make it for tonight's run of nightlies... I can upload the build I rolled as a test if needed, no worries!
What are the chances of gps working? And blue tooth audio lol.

Seconded on the BT audio. I don't have an aux hooked up in my car, and USB audio isn't a thing with this phone, so BT audio is how I listen to my music. Must have for me!
This ROM looks pretty nice though! Can't wait to give it a try!

You guys are going to have to tell me... I don't have the device (see the OP), and thus I cannot test.
What I can tell you is my device (Photon Q) is the same SoC... so in theory it should work the same. BT audio streaming and GPS both work great here.
If you folks have run the CM10.1 build from epinter, the buglist there basically applies here.

Well, from what I've understood from other posts, the BT audio is dependent on the kernel, correct? And since we don't have an official 4.2 release, and thus no kernel, BT audio is dead right now. Would the Photon still be the same kernel?

Well a lot is dependent on the kernel. BT audio depends on many things, there are some aspects of the kernel that do depend on BT audio... the kernel is basically the interface between the OS and the hardware, so the kernel definitely touches a lot!
Perhaps I should make this more clear. If you have any issues with this CM10.1 ROM, then you will probably have the same issues with this ROM.
Again, I do not have an Atrix HD, I am only supporting this device because the SoC is identical to a moto device I do own... So help me out, run it, let me know what's wrong with it... and I can certainly try and fix it, but unfortunately without the device it won't be easy. I will do my best!

Thank you for the explanation! It's pretty late tonight, but I'll try to flash this tomorrow and let you know what's working and not working for me!
Thanks for the rom. Funny thing is I almost compiled this Sunday. I've seen that branch in the repos and was curious as to what it was. Gonna try it out later.
Also, thanks for the GPS tip. I was on ICS before I started playing with custom roms so I'll flash stock (ugh) and see if that helps. Probably later tonight, I just got up and need to see what needs to be done today. I don't play with my phones when crap might need to be done.
Same problem as other 4.2.2 roms, bluetooth audio does NOT work

Interesting tho that my device, same SoC does not suffer from this bug. Will see what I can unearth.

Yeah you have to fast boot all the ICS files from the sbf except of course the getvar and first line in the XML. That way you get all the proper drivers rolled back. Then flash the cwm recovery IMG in fast boot and boot to recovery and flash a custom ROM, usually after this it'll work at least with the xt925 ROMs.

So has this been beaten to a dead horse? Logs? Anyone made headway with it?
I've poked around a bit, but haven't put a ton of time into it yet. Any info will help shorten my task, thanks!
Running carbon right now. I lowered the CPU speed. Does the performance setting effectively control both cores? I ask because OCs make my device reboot. I'm in no need for the over clock. I recommend setting the default speed to stock speed for compatibility with options to over clock.
Update still getting the reboots. How can I provide error logs for you? FYI I am currently without any micro USB data cable.

I love this rom! The only issue is my reception for 3/4G. My wife has the HTC One stock, and at our apartment gets at least 3 bars, however mine on Carbon (latest nightly) only gets 1. Is there a known reception issue? Other than that, this is my favorite ROM by far. Any help would be appreciated!

Has anyone had an issue with their home button not working after flashing this rom? I have it on my other s4 but this one seems to be putting up a huge fight with me, from not even flashing to getting stuck on the boot animation etc. I tried using Apex Pro to assign the home button and still got nada. IDK but have you downloaded semaphore manager apk to ramp it up. Default is 512K but you can bump it up to 2048K within the app.
what aint working here?? Im sorry i ask but its important for me as i use this as a daily phone..
I tried this rom out shortly - I love PAC but I needed the extra ram. It was snappy, but it had some pretty big problems. First off I was getting battery drain and CPU maxing out when GPS was on, unlike Pac. Secondly (worst of all, which made me have to flash back), I kept finding the phone completely dead. I kept checking my BatteryStats and everything was more or less OK, so I was confused. Then on a day when I was using my phone more, I caught it rebooting into recovery mode randomly, with the screen on the whole time, so that must have been what was going on. It happened often enough that it was too unreliable for me to continue using. Maybe I'll try the stable when it's out, because it was pretty smooth. Please work on these two issues and you'll have a great rom!
So thanks for the completely useless post give me damn logs. Anyways you guys can consider this device EoL. I have 0 intentions to update sgs1 to 4.4

I never understood all the whining & complaining ... esp. when you consider 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 ... the evolution to "butter" smoothness on these ancient phones has been spectacular. SB & PRB are at the forefront of that. I know people (with other phone types) who don't even get to use anything past Gingerbread (due to stability and lack of official support). Just look at all the roms left for dead on CM's nightly page.
Thanks to the tremendous efforts of PRB, jrongi1, DT, FE, stratosk, and others (inc. their testers) ... it's been an absolute pleasure to continue using this phone. Definitely showing its age spec-wise, but the latest 4.3 builds have been silky silky smooth. SB 4.3 v1.4 was great for me, and I just noticed the new weekly was posted.
So, damn ... just wanted to say "THANK YOU" to PRB for all the work put into maintaining this device. Whether EoL happens or not for SB's Vibrant fate, I'm stoked that at least jrongi1 is willing to carry the flag. PRB, man, seriously, thanks brother for all you do. Ignore the whiners 'cuz that stuff is unfortunately inevitable in this massive XDA expanse.
Rom problem it's effing random and logs don't show much...

I'm wondering if this might be an issue with the kernel or not but I've been getting quite a few soft (dirty) reboots. (I'm using GearKernel 1.0.9v2sv, by the way.) When I perform any action relating to file management (installing/uninstalling APKs, moving apps to SD card, enabling USB mass storage, etc.) it goes into a soft reboot. It might be because of the scheduler (sioplus) GearKernel might be using or that I'm overclocking up to 1200 MHz. I'm asking if this might be an issue with the ROM itself or if it occurs on any other ROM. I'll pull you a logcat when I experiment a bit more ...

I haven't had much luck with GearKernel on Slim. The one freak time I was able to use it (without losing IMEI) was flashing 1.0.8sv right after restoring an SB 7.8 nandroid. It was actually the smoothest kernel I've used at stock speeds (ondemand, sioplus) ... but terribly unstable at 1200-1400 Mhz. When OC'd, the phone would inevitably soft reboot, as you mentioned. Mackay Kernel 0.335 was more stable on SB 7.8 (than GearKernel), and it would allow gaming at 1400 MHz. However, Mackay also would eventually soft reboot at 1200-1400 MHz (tho it lasted a bit longer than GearKernel) ... and then would end up losing IMEI at random times. Even Semaphore would soft reboot at 1200 Live OC, though it would last much longer than either GearKernel of Mackay. Mackay's 1400 MHz is the fastest I've ever experienced on my Vibe ... but the fun only lasts until the next soft reboot. Lol. :crying:
I've tried GearKernel 1.0.9v2sv on 7.8, 8.0, and 4.3 v1.4 ... but I'd lose IMEI/APN/Baseband every fricken time I flashed that thing. No method would ever bring the damn thing back - ie. pull SIM / reboot / reinsert SIM, wipe init.d, and even manually restoring a backed up efs folder.
I've got a smooth 4.3 v1.6 running now, so I'm not even gonna touch it. Semaphore runs very smooth on 1.6. Maybe bring up the issue in Alberto's thread. He may have more insight for you. Good luck.

It soft rebooted because your device can't handle that high of an oc. For example some people can not over clock at all some can hit 1.2ghz a few can hit 1.4-1.7

I don't appreciate the hostile reply. The rom was unstable enough that I just flashed back before I got any logs, and I figured any issue that severe would have already cropped up. I hope I didn't seem ungrateful about your work, just stating the fact, that right now for me it was too unstable to run. I understand that it's a nightly, and I was just testing it out.
Anyway, it's a moot point because it sounds like you're not going to maintain it anyway, so I'm not sure why you'd even be asking for logs.
Fact? Fact is runs fine on my captivate, or as fine as it can on it. Without logs it's just wasting keystrokes. I asked for logs because I'm still maintaining it. I said I won't be for next aosp version. Guys it's impossible to say how a rom/kernel set ups react on each separate device so if crap breaks and you actually want to help the community provide explicit instructions how to reproduce any problem with logs and screenshots if applicable. Else man don't bother.
Cheers

@prbassplayer thank you for your hard work on maintaining our phone and keeping it alive for so long. I am sad to hear that you won't be maintaining it for the next major update. Is that a for sure thing, or is it just a likely thing depending on how our phone continues to run?

@prbassplayer thank you for your hard work on maintaining our phone and keeping it alive for so long. I am sad to hear that you won't be maintaining it for the next major update. Is that a for sure thing, or is it just a likely thing depending on how our phone continues to run?

Its already lagfest (yes it is use a newer phone and you will see the difference), doubt a new aosp version will help. And time man. I'm maintaining 3 SGS1 devices, Skyrocket, Hercules, 3 t0lte devices and I spend a lot of time working on mako kernel as its the device I actually own and use as dd.

So, the latest weekly build was a huge improvement over the first. No more soft reboots! (It could be GearKernel's problem. I'm not so sure.) Everything works great and performance is balanced quite nicely. The only issue I have is the back button often doesn't quit a running app but it works with going back a "page". The other capacitive keys are fine, though. I usually resort to using the Home button to quit instead.

Grab a bug report quickly after it happening. I have no clue why this is happening. are you sure you set the kill app feature to back button (or hold back)?\

No, I'm using the default hardware key configuration. How do I take a bug report? Logs?

Then I don't understand the problem?
BrianXP7 said:
I think it involves the launcher lagging to be launched when I attempt to quit an app. I tried keeping it in memory but it didn't help much.
EDIT: It seems one of the users also reported the issue in PAC-ROM.

Get the semaphore manager from play store as slim uses the kernel it can help with some of the lag. But as prb said the Vibrant is not a speedy device as much as I use my N4 it can seem like forever doing things on the Vibrant.

Introduction:
MoKee OpenSource is based on the Google AOSP. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.

Since we're updating frequently, making manual changelogs ain't possible anymore...
And also take note that although I am involved in the development of this ROM, but I do not own the device, so I might not be able to answer your device specific questions...
First. I think...

Wow this is pretty neat! Absolutely love the wave effect scrolling. Way better than the sketchyness of cm11 scrolling. Can definitely tell the cm roots though. I flashed with safe strap 3.65 Twrp 2.6.3.1 created new rom slot and flashed it straight up. Wiped dalvic before boot. You guys are awesome. My first mokee experience. Love the boot animation too. Bravo.

Okay... What's with the Chinese apps preloaded?

Just flashed this rom. Haven't been flashing too much lately, nice to see a few new roms.
Browser default page is Chinese... I'm noticing a theme here... Kinda makes me nervous to use this rom I must say. Silky smooth as it may be.

Just switched back to cm11 until I learn more about mokee. Great rom though.

I hear ya, you can change that though. Doesn't mean anything. They are a few apps that are in chinese, just freeze them with titanium.
If I have time I will go into the gapps package and just remove them. The last thing I need is someone stealing my information or identity. It would not be difficult for the creator of this rom to write in apps to get your passwords etc. Call me paranoid I don't care. Until I learn more...

If your bionic is 5 slot, i suggest trying jbx kernel. Overclocking and all the good stuff. I have a 4 slot and cant seem to get it to work >_<
I have 4 slot as well. Plus stock of course. I don't really do much kernel swapping. This rom is probably completely legit but I don't like seeing stuff I don't understand on something as personal as my phone. The whole transparency thing... I will get over it when I go through the gapps file and remove that stuff. Or just run another gapp.

i think those apps are baked in the rom itself. Pretty sure i flashed another gapps.
Oh. Well there goes that idea.

Don't worry guys, we do not want your data...we have a good track record with threads all over XDA and a lot of users, view here: http://build.mokeedev.com/thread and here http://stats.mfunz.com
Well the Chinese apps are targeted at the China users as the ROM was based in China, it's useful to them (think of MIUI, but has vanilla Android looks+open source+maintained by freelancers (MIUI is a company, we are not though, we do this for free))...
Just disable them in Settings->Apps if you are concerned about security, or use the Privacy Guard option (we wouldn't include that if we want your data...lol)...
Good looking out. I remember a spyware named mokee from years back on windows. Didn't dawn on my till I saw all the Chinese. I guess I understand the international appeal. The forum is in English. I for one think the rom should be as well. Completely. Like every other rom I run. Thanks anyway.
Sent from my Xoom Wifi using Tapatalk
I understand, but the project has just expanded internationally...if we managed to get stable like CM, it will be more international...
I feel sillyfor cluttering up this forum for with concerns for identity theft. Please feel free to deleted the messages concerning this matter. Thanks for the fantastic rom, and your devotion to Android.
Sent from my Xoom Wifi using xda app-developers app
It's perfectly alright, we understand your concerns......not stupid at all...as long as we gain trust eventually, it will be OK (many more like you actually, we just needed that extra effort to explain)...
Just to be clear, privacy guard does nothing for system installed apps. But yes you can disable them or freeze them. Guys like me get bent out of shape when stock os is bloated, I felt the same annoyance(maybe worse) with system bloat that is in a foreign language.

Erm...it does? See attachment...And I feel you, Chinese isn't my native language but it's just that I so happen to know it...but it's in there for the reasons I told ya...?...would like to avoid it but they are using the same builds as us, and the builds are automated...
