Does anyone know how to remove the NFC logo and Power Saver from the notification bar - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all.
I know I'm not the only one but my At&t HTC One kinda annoying seeing nfc that I can't even use the way I want to and power save option on the notification bar that I really would never use. Has anyone found a way to remove it?

I read that you can long press on the notification, and disable the app and it would actually still be turned on.

Just a question... How did you even get to show an NFC icon on your device? I myself wanted to at least show that icon when my NFC is turned on to no avail. This has been bothering my for weeks already as I am afraid that I might be having a broken NFC chip on my device as everytime I toggle it I don't see any N icons at the statusbar at all.

For NFC to work, you have to turn off Power Saver. I learnt this the hard way when I thought my NFC chip wasn't working as well, was halfway to the shops for an exchange when I thought, let's try this one last thing
I don't have any NFC notifications though.

I don't think that's accurate, unless it only turns nfc off at a certain battery threshold.
Tested mine @ 27% battery and it still makes the bloopy nfc sound, with power saver on. I also do not have any nfc notifications, just the sound.

The NFC icon only shows up on AT&T(possibly T-Mobile/Sprint) configured devices. If you're installing your ROMs with the International settings, it won't show up.
EDIT: Also the NFC antennae itself is located on the top quarter of the phone, so if you're trying to make contact with another NFC device or a tag, you'll need to position it there.

Ohh ok So it's another AT&T exclusive lol! Finally this made my mind at ease now... Was really wondering why no icon shows up yet logcat doesn't show any errors at all. :good:

To remove the "Power Save" notification (without root), long press on the notification, tap "App info", then force close. The notification will go away until you either reach 14% battery life (at which the Power Save turns on), or if you restart your phone. Then just force close it again.

Xposed module to remove the NFC icon completely!

I just wrote a Xposed module which can remove the NFC Icon (I only tested on HTC One X, but should work on HTC One). The NFC Icon is complete GONE! You could check out on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467970

To remove the nfc icon settings>more and untick the nfc box..
There is an app in the play store that will remove the power saver icon if you mean that you want to use the power saver, but not have the icon in the status bar. Otherwise, just go into settings aswell and turn it off. Settings>power
Or did I totally misunderstand the thread?
Edit: the app is called 'jmz power saver disabler' again, this is if you want power saver running, but not the icon visible. Otherwise just turn off power saver under settings.

I don't think he wanted to turn these features off, just doesn't want the notification(s) taking up room in his status bar. The NFC icon can be turned off (if you're rooted), by navigating to /system/customize/ACC/default.xml - open this with a text editor. Find <item type="integer" name="nfc_show_icon">1</item> and change 1 to 0, then reboot. Now NFC can be on, and the icon won't be there. Haven't found an easy way like this for the Power Saver notification, but like mrrick said, there is an app to do it, as well as a few other options in Dev
Edit: whoaaa this thread was way dead, man...

Haha.. Whoops

[Q] NFC on when screen is off?

I would like to use NFC when the screen is off but this is not possible atm.
I want to use it for sound profiles for example but now I have to unlock the screen all the time wich kind of wastes the NFC advantage for me.
If someone would make a MOD so NFC is always on would this mean the phone will no longer go into deep sleep?

I'm using the NFC.apk from the Xperia Z thread, and it works for me (the only problem i noticed is that the phone doesn't display the NFC icon in the status bar, but NFC still works)

Network disconnects when screen is off.

I have ARHD GE 4.0 and whenever the screen is off, the network disconnects until the next time I turn it on. That means I don't get any notifications from Whatsapp and other apps, unless I check them out manually.
Now, how do I fix it? I've read over the web that it's a well known issue, the thing is I've had this carrier for like a year and haven't had this problem, till I changed my carrier and it started right away; I thought the problem was at the new carrier and I changed it to another one, yet I've had the same problem again.
Now, if the problem is in the phone, how come I haven't had it with the first carrier? Thanks.
Check the power saver option in the phone settings. You need to turn off power saver then disable the "turn network off when screen is off" option and turn power saver back on again (or not, if you want).

I don't have it because I have a Google Edition rom.
Oh. Sorry. My bad.
Hmm do you have any battery saving application? Battery guru, juice defender or something? These sort of things tend to do that. If not check your phone settings. As i remember from my Galaxy nexus there was a setting in network settings that deactivated data /wifi when the screen was off.
In any case it sounds to me like you have a battery saving option enabled somewhere on your phone to cause this kind of behavior.
If that's not it, I'm stumped and have no idea what else it could be.

I don't have any battery saving apps.
It sounds to me as well, the thing is I haven't had that problem till I changed my carrier, so if there was an option enabled somewhere, how come it started working only when I changed my carrier?

Notification LED

There used to be an option to turn off the notification LED on blocking mode so that it didn't light up your room while sleeping. It appears that is no longer an option. Does anyone know of a solution to be able to disable the LED for specific hours each day? I tried Lightflow, but had some issues with it and there was not an option to set specific hours. Thanks in advance!
I don't think the LED is that bright to "light up your room".....
If it bugs you that much, turn it face down, or put something over the LED to cover just that one part of the phone.

LOL! Easy fix. Cut her eyes out. Then ask her which did she like more, the ability to see or not? I'm sure she will say sight, but then you give her the bad news that you can't fix her blindness due to you not being a doctor (unless you are, then operate).
To fix your problem though, try Settings > Accessibility > Notification Reminder > LED Indicator
Hope that works.
Have you tried "do not disturb" in your toggle buttons? Says it'll silence calls & notifications, not sure if it will disable led. Ultra power saving mode might also disable led.

I have tried do not disturb and it does not turn off the LED for me. I have not tried ultra power saving mode. I am, however, hoping for something more automated based on time. Thanks for the response.

Wow...that escalated quickly :-0
Thank you for the recommendation, but I actually want the LED on during the day and just off at night. It was a setting on my previous Samsung devices...just appears to be another thing removed, for some reason

Guess the Do Not Disturb option is your only bet. Hopefully it works.
try sleep for android...it has a feature of Do not disturb whenever you have sleep tracking on. So when you sleep just set that as an alarm and it will put the phone to do not disturb
I know you said you had problems with lightflow app but have you tried the light manager app? Works really well for me since they did the fix for 5.1.1.

Notifications turn on screen

I have been searching looking for way to make this work with no solution.
I have disabled AOD since it is consuming battery heavily and wanted notifications to behave as on stock android where they turn screen on. My note 8 is receiving notifications and LED turns on, but screen doesn't. I have to manually turn it on to be able to see the lockscreen notification.
Is there any way to make this work?
+1
Facing same issue.
Having the same problem. Aod does not work anymore.

I use "Dynamic Notifications". It lights up notifications when screen is locked. There's a certain amount of customisation, including screen on time. Used it on many of my phones including Note 8.
Wait.. You want the screen to turn on for every notification?
I hate that... Some apps even ignore the settings either way.

Same here, that would drive me nuts if the screen turned on for every notification. It's bad enough the screen turns on everytime the phone is plugged in/unplugged from USB or from a wireless charger.
Shouren, you can try snoozy charger app to manage the plug/unplug screen on issue

Thanks. The rom I'm using is actually supposed to have that disabled but I don't think it works for wireless charging, only cable. I never never charge with the cable anymore. But whatever, I prefer not to install apps just to disable one minor thing.
I understand you, I also prefer wireless, but, it works with wireless too
There must be a build prop tweak or something but I can't seem to find one right now.
Maybe a PM to a nice dev and they could tell you where to look. Report for community if you figure it out

NFC icon grayed out

I just received my T-mobile Pixel 4 XL. The NFC icon in the pull down menu is grayed out - it does not have white lines on the dark background and it does not turn blue when NFC is enabled. Tapping it does not enable or disable NFC. This is my first Pixel phone. Am I missing something? Thanks!
Noticed exactly the same this morning when trying to enable NFC via the quick button.
Long pressing the NFC icon will show the the menu for enabling/disabling NFC and it works fine there.
It seems just the quick button is bugged.

Thanks! At least I am not alone  And I will be sure to notice when an update corrects it! :fingers-crossed:
No Icon in pulldown menu and NFC not working great
Just got the phone last night after I got home from work.
One of the first things I noticed was no NFC toggle in the pull down menu, and it was not there in the editable list to add it to the menu.
Supposedly NFC is enabled currently under the Settings > Connections Preferences > NFC but I have had very little and very inconsistent success in scanning. Most times it times out after initially starting the app up or doesn't actually ever read it, I think I have only a handful of successful reads. It needs more testing to determine if it is what I am scanning or if it is the phone itself. I am coming from an OG Pixel XL where it worked flawlessly so I am not sure what to think but this is very concerning to me as I use this NFC device hourly at a minimum(Freestyle Libre CGM Monitor).
Anyone else have scanning issues with NFC?
