[Q] after official update my htc inc s wont start - HTC Incredible S

After my first update the phone is dead, I have my htc inc s for one
week(I think it was android 2.3.3 and it worked fine yesterday I got
update notification I've downloaded it and then the phone shutted down
and started with the dark screen with the green arrows in circle and
one inside facing down symbol and it stayed like that forever!I took
battery out and put back press power and its the same symbol! The phone
is from china got it from ebay and if I need to send it back for fixing
it will take a lot of time to come back!
So I tried battery out back in, volume down + pover the same green
arrow symbol, like this when plugged in my pc doesnt do nothing, after I
tried battery out than in, volume up + power and I got 3 vibes, orange
light and black screen, when plugged to my pc i says "qualcom CDMA
technologies MSM" device and it searches for drivers!
I dont believe that its possible to brick my device with the first
update that I got from the mobile network and I never touched nothing
like rooting or messing with my phone...
So what can I do now to fix it without losing my waranty and having
everything like it was before stock and working???
PLEASE HELP PLEASE HELP!!!

I have no idea what volume up+power does, nor do I understand half of what you are saying but ill try and help anyways...
download HTC Sync. Download SDK and ADB files from google. then save the files in a place ull remember. Download HTC Sync too (I forget if you actually need it but download it anyways because you need it for USB Drivers). When you are finished download of SDK, go into the folder sdk/platform-tools. Shift+right mouse click and then select "Open Command Window here." Back to your phone, boot into bootloader (Volume DOWN + Power button) and select fasboot (if u dont know how to navigate in bootlaoder, search it up). On your computer in command window type in fastboot devices and it should list your device serial number (if u dont know it dont worry, it should start with something like HT and then numbers and stuff like that). If your computer recognizes the deivce, then proceed and type "fastboot getvar all" Paste what u read here or screenshot, whatever, just see that its here IN THIS THREAD.

I will try to explain better... My htc brand new never rooted never played with, after 4-5 days of using (everything worked great) got
the first OTA update, shutted down and then started with the green update sign on the screen, it stayed like this forever, so I took the battery out and put it back and tried to go to the boot menu (volume down + power button) it does nothing again the same green symbol on the screen. Than I took battery out and in again and pressed volume up + power button and the phone vibrates 3 times and the orange lid is on. When connected to PC does nothing! I instaled and played with sdk and adb like you instructed me but the problem is that the device is not in the device list! I start to think that its bricked or soft bricked but it makes me mad since its new and I never played with it or changed something!
Also if it matters I got it from the eBay but since I wrote to HTC also the answer was from them that its a indonesian market phone that has expired guarantee one year ago, so this makes me think that maybe its a referb and not new phone
P.S Sorry for the double post I am new here and thanks for trying to help
I.m attaching two pics of what is seen on the screen help me if you can

You might want to try official RUU although I dont know if it will work since you dont seem to be able to boot up properly, but its certainly worth a try. BTW, how long did u wait for the OTA update to finish installing?

Seems like you have the same problem as this guy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2298438

[Q] bricked attempting to update to cog 2.2 beta6

in attempting to flash to cog2.2beta6 I think I bricked my phone was trying to use clockwork to flash and it did not see the files necessary (yes I copied them to the phone)tried to odenback to stock and it would not go into download via vol keys and bat and usb cable (had done it before so I know it worked and how to do it, finally and probably the death blow, went into cmd flash.sh it started to perform some sorta function then locked me to a startup window stating att world phone when I try to power the phone back up, if I attemtp to get it into download via usb I get a little star like circle that just sits there, holding power and vol keys flashes thru startup world phone window repeatedly but nothing else.... have I totally bricked it or is there something else I can try.... any help and or suggestions appreciated.... having to use my old backflip for now after being spoiled LOL.... thanks in advance
you havent bricked it you just need to do things in the proper order.
open odin one click
unplug phone
pull battery out
while holding the volume keys down, insert battery, then plug it in and dont let go of the volume keys until you get into download mode
update
thanks Pirateghost, I did do the dl attempt in that order, unfortunately whatever else I did resulted in the phone totally failing, would not let me or the att tech do anything with it and after sitting for a few hours would not even acknowledge that it was pluged in to charge only had a circle of lines like you would see whle it was performing a task adn making you wait .... but the little bars were not moving.... so long story short since they could not get the phone to start, boot, go into recovery or download mode my new one is in the mail as a warrenty replacement. will have to be more careful next time...

[Q] Was stuck at TAMPERED screen, restored factory settings and now appears bricked

Hey everyone,
So my friend’s HTC One was having some troubles, he said out of no where it got stuck in the ‘TAMPERED’ screen and he didn’t know what to do. Now he definitely didn’t try to root it or anything like that, it is completely stock. So yesterday he gave me the phone so I could take a look at it. The battery was dead when I got it so I plugged it in and got the red notification light to say it’s charging. A little while later I attempted to turn it on, surely enough I was shown the ‘tampered, locked, security warning etc.’ screen. So I wasn’t really sure what to do from there, I tried to see if I could get into the recovery mode but it just seemed to power down. I booted back up and went to the restore factory settings option, it showed me a progress bar for a bit but powered down again. Now it appears to be bricked… When I plug it in I don’t get the red notification light anymore and I’ve tried holding vol down + power again and again to no avail. I also tried the bright light trick.
If anyone has any ideas on what I could try next I would really appreciate any help at all.
Thanks guys.
the tampered screen wont appear out of nowhere, he must have tried a custom recovery, kernel or something.

From a bit of googling around I saw some people that let their phones' batteries die completely flat and were faced with the tampered screen when they turned it on again so I guess this is what happened to my friend. I'm sure he didn't try anything custom.
Here are two examples:
http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/60279
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433477
What happens when its plugged the PC. Does it show up at all or does it show QHSUSB_DLOAD. If it does show that, then it is bricked and only a motherboard replacement will bring it back to life. If not then charge the phone for 24 hours. dont mess with it, then holding POWER + VOLDOWN (phone under a bright light,) after about 5 seconds, buttons should start blinking, and after 20 to 30 seconds, phone should reboot or you may at least get into bootloader.
you may need to try 2 or 3 times, to get it to work.

You must have HTC drivers installed anyway. Download and run HTC sync and let it complete. then just uninstall HTC Sync. The drivers will remain.
You must also have adb and fastboot setup on your PC. I take it you are set up for those

Ok so i got the drivers, adb and fastboot installed. I plugged in the phone and in device manager it is showing QHSUSB_DLOAD under other devices. So for sure now this thing needs a motherboard replacement? Have you ever heard of a phone getting bricked from the restore to factory settings option? Seems a bit strange to me.
I just called my friend to double check with him that he didn't try anything custom...he had no idea what I was talking about so it's definitely all stock here. Why on earth would a factory restore cause a brick? Would I be right in saying that HTC should replace this for free...?
There is no factory restore option. Only factory reset.
Keep out plugged in over night and then tomorrow keep trying to power on with a bright light. It should turn up

[Q] HTC One doesn't turn on

Hi,
yesterday I was just watching tv, so I haven't used my phone for about two hours. Then when I tried to use it it just didn't react. So I tried holding power for about 15-20 seconds, nothing happend. Then i held power+volume down and it brought me to the screen at which you have a few options to choose from and I chose reboot. A white screen with htc logo appeared. After about 10 minutes of looking at this still image I decided to try and hold power button to restart the process. After it turned off it didn't want to turn on again. I charged it whole night and tried power, power+volume up, power+volume down combinations, also i tried to do power+volume up under bright light. I tried to connect to a pc and leave it for half an hour and do the same thing again but it didn't help. So I decided to return it to the service (not htc, just some repair shop in my city) and they said that they are going to "open it up". Now I don't know if I should take it from them before they're going to destroy it and maybe try something else, or if I should just let them open it and see what's inside
nothing inside. Don't let them to open your device. Can you enter to HBoot? If yes plz write in cmd
fastboot getvar all

Sorry for the delay but it was kind of a busy week for me. So, I called them immediatly and told them not to open the phone. I got it back. I can't get to hboot, although when I connect it to a pc, windows makes a sound and then it searches for a driver, but it fails to find one. If I hold any combination of buttons with the power button, after around 10 seconds pc makes a sound of disconnecting a device and then connecting it again, but the phone screen nor the buttons light up.

Do you think I should try and follow this guide, or just give the phone to htc to fix it? It's still under warranty, but I have flashed a new rom and stuff so I'm not sure if they're going to do it for free. I have called to my carrier and courier will come to me after xmas on 29th december, but it's kind of long time from now.
EDIT:
I'm pretty sure that's the name of the thing for which windows was looking for drivers (QHUSB_DLOAD)

1- by lock button do you mean power button?
2- volume down and power will reboot. (takes 10 seconds) Lot of people asked htc to fix this security issue but still exists
2- no RUU available yet only stock TWRPrecovery
note - sounds like you phone got hardware problems. if still in guarantee, send it to HTC

Thx for the reply, this is driving me mad.
1. I did mean power button, my bad.
2. Have tried the Volume down and power button, nothing happens. Pretty sure it doesn't even reboot.
3. Although a hardware issue is a likely cause, I have found that alot of people with HTC phones have had this issue and have fixed it with a factory reset (why I wanted the RUU, which is a bummer that there isn't one).

OK try this:
(you need htc drivers and adb/fastboot tools - extract to a folder and open command line)
in comand line type:
adb devices (if detected continue)
adb reboot (this will reboot your phone)
or
adb recovery (this will reboot into recovery mode where you can factory reset)

Contact HTC online they will take care of you.
Collect and deliver. If its Hardware fault its free. (in my experience)
Sorry mate for the late answer. Vol up + power button pressed together.

Galaxy Tab 10.1wifi is going to be thrown out the window !

Ok so this will be my second post, no one replied to my first.
Will try to explain what the problem is. in as much detail as I can.
Please help me out guys !
So, tab was in debug mode, messed up using odin, trying to root, not sure what went wrong there and gave up.
Rest of the day tab worked fine.
During the night it was not turned off but left on charger, icon showing.
I listen to audio book while falling asleep
When I woke up, pressed on and nothing, black screen
Panic and frustration followed.
New charge cable, black screen
Searched internet, did the button combo's , took back off, disconnected battery, drained battery, still black screen.
Disconnected all cables inside, reconnected, black screen
Conncted to win7 pc, by holding down power and vol down, pc sees unknown device in APX mode.
Installed various drivers, all I could find that might work, installed and seen in device manager.
Followed nvflash guides, get an error usb write failed.
List devices command, nothing appears.
Installed Samsung Kies. cant connect , using different drivers also.
Odin cant see the device either. Pdanet installed, same outcome.
Also the sdk route, always no device found
I havent got new battery yet, cant afford one at the moment.
With everything I tried it always comes down to device not being seen even though it does appear in device manager.
Installed usbdevieuw software , check the properties, it does say 0mA , which is different to when I check my usb keyboard or mouse, they do have power 90mA etc. which is weird.
I have read and tried just about everything concerning my specific device. I am stuck.
No idea what to try next.
I understood that apx = download mode., which would be fine if I could see something on the tab screen. I know that normally when into download mode you have to use vol up to cross over to the right icon.
So, power + vol down... wait till its in device manager on pc, then vol up. Tried this, seeing as the screen is black I just waited a bit and then vol up, guess work actually.
Anyway, if someone has any ideas etc please let me know.
Thank You All
Try This

Thank you !! for responding. I did as you suggested, Its cool software.
that being said, no matter what option I choose I get The system cannot find the path specified. To me that means that the tablet cannot be entered even though it does show up in device manager samsung android phone> android adb interface.
I mailed samsung help desk and got a reply saying, take it to your nearest samsung repair store. .. THEY can fix it......as I expected they would say.
Im still wondering if the battery is causing the problems. As screen is black, when on charger stays black.
However if the tab is seen on my pc, does this mean tab has power?????
I have no idea how to test the battery without replacing it.
Im guessing tab is fully bricked and if so would that explain the no battery charging icon??? and lack of any other screens lol
Anyway, I have learnt so much from reading this forum. I admire the great work and assistence provided.
Guess my tab problem is either too easy to provide a fix for or hardly no one has a clue how to fix my tab :silly:
Please respond and help me out!!!
