Gingerbread CM7 for S6500D - Samsung Galaxy Mini

First attempt: created repository at http://github.com/federivas/gingerbread_jenad
Everybody may use and modify sources; I'm not like other people...
Sources of CM7 from github.com/CyanogenMod. Kernel and modifications from Samsung official sources for S6500D. And, of course, a lot of work done today at home...
Some errors compiling, but I'll try to solve them; if you think you can help, download sources and publish your work here.

Managed to boot it? If yes, I'm sure it'd work on Ace Plus too. I tried to port cm7 on it, but got boot loops...

So, this will use a new kernel? Will there be a NFC version (NOT a major deal though now)? Good luck. If we don't have JB till 30th June, this will be the major thing for our Jena. Do not rush, we have patience.

Now compiles OK; generate some .img files, but I need to compile kernel too.
Anybody can help me? I don't know how to compile kernel too and finally get a .zip file to flash ROM.

To make zip file, execute "make otapackage" . And the kernel...dunno about it. I think you have to move the kernel folder to some folder called arm-eabi-4.4.3 just search for it inside your cm7 folder
Sent from my GT-S7500 using xda app-developers app

This is how the kernel is built: https://github.com/TheWhisp/android_device_samsung_jena/blob/jellybean/BoardConfig.mk
Alternately you can specify a pre-built kernel.

im not a dev...but please add overclock kernel. i thnk nobody will mind if its overclockable to 1.12ghz..

First he should get it booting, overclock is not needed for CM7 to boot

I will try too...

So.. I have a question:

That device config isn't for JB? Or is valid to compile GB?
Thanks

you have to create your own device config for CM7, like I did for CM9, CM10 and CM10.1.
Do you think you just take it from somewhere without doing anything?

And i dont think that it will be slow.I flashed ICS For X8 Alpha 8 and it seems that is as fast at GB and with 103mb free ram
We just have to wait and support our devs with joy and love
So please be patient
yeah...i think cm9 = ics, cm8 honeycomb, cm7 ginger

The one from trof is AOSP (pure android) and cm9 is custom ROM based on ICS.

I think we still have a long way to have a full and daily use ICS,just like GB ROMS,but our devs are great and..well,they said X8 can't run GB and look now!

Installing Ubuntu on SGS+

Has anyone tried installing ubuntu with this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zpwebsites.ubuntuinstall&hl=en
Would it be too laggy to use? And is it even possible with our device, ppl have got it working with s2.
Requires:
Root yep
1GHZ processor (recommended) (dunno if this is men´t to be dualcore?)
Android 2.1 or higher yep
Kernel will loop device support (this is included in most custom ROM's) what?
SD card with at least 3.5GB of free space for large image (2.5GB for small image) yep
Data connection on your device yep
Ext2 file system support yep?
Anyway if this actually works, I could imagine that best ROM to use this with would be CM9 or AOSP? According to description in the app this should run on top of your basic android so, I would modify very lightweight ROM for this only with couple core apps, and you could just do backups and switch from ubuntu rom to your main rom and back Would be really nice to use Open-office with this.
This guy who had S2 gived this feedback in app:
Carl on May 22, 2012 (Version 3.0.1)
Best app I have ever had
Very impressed. Running the full image file and works well. Tho it is a little laggy opening apps (to be expected). Once firefox loads, browsing the web is on par with my default phone internet app. Can't wait to hook up a TV, mouse and keyboard. Great stuff!! I have a Galaxy S2 with stock rooted gingerbread.
Would be cool on a tablet, but hey, at a 4" screen?!
Still bigger than Iphone´s

Seen that, but when its going to be released ?

without a CF-root kernel it will not work..

I think I told you this once before; if you want anything else than speculations about what might be wrong (although I'd also put my vote on kernel) you should post a logcat or kmsg (still not sure if it is called kmsg) so it is easier to tell what's wrong.

You are using the wifi modules/drivers/whatever/haven'tsleptonight from dla's ROM, right? If not, that might explain why it's not starting.

As far as I know, dla uses other WiFi modules than other kernels. So try using the WiFi modules from his ROM.

Afaik you will need the WiFi modules specific for the kernel. For instance beastmode modules don't work with redux kernel.
