HTC One LTE VS Galaxy S4 Please Help - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hello friends, I live in King Count, Seattle Washington, and my area has Sprint's 4g LTE. I got Galaxy S4 and 60% of the time I have LTE, whilte other 40% on 3g. I return my Galaxy S4 and I got HTC One instead, and now I can't even get 20% of LTE% even if I'm only 500ft away from the tower I can't get 4G LTE. I went sprint store and they check the phone and they said you know what, this phone didn't pass the network test so we will give you another one. I got another HTC One and I still could'nt get LTE!, So I'm kind of thinking HTC One has poor 4G LTE Signal at least on Sprint, What do you guys think? this is my 2nd HTC One and I really missed my Galaxy S4 because of the LTE....
Some people are saying HTC One has one band of Sprint LTE, So I didn't understand can anyone help me please. thanks

Not sure how many lte bands the one supports but Sprint.only has one lte band deployed anyway. I don't think think it's deployed the 800mhz one anywhere.

Having the same problem here in Charlotte NC also had a S3 and got LTE a good majority of the time. Got the One yesterday and now in those same areas not getting LTE I guess it's a antenna problem maybe. Sucks thinking I'm going to have to get the S4 and really dont want to.

1.Radio update could fix the problem.
2.Wait for your area to be deployed and see if LTE gets better.
3.If neither works then we know the phone is incapable of holding weak LTE signals.
It's up to you to decide if you want to risk the upgrade and wait. My Note 2 holds LTE a lot better than this phone as well. But from what I've seen in these areas where my Note 2 would have an LTE signal the speeds were very poor.. The problem with this HTC One is the hand off between 4G and 3G sucks so bad. Which is why I've forced my phone to only use 3G and never connect to 4G..

Remember the One only has 800 LTE, which Sprint is deploying 1900 ( or 2100, cant remember) first.

Note that NO Sprint phone at this time has anything other than 1900mhz LTE support.

Data Speeds problem HTC ViVid

I cam coming to the VIVID from the Atrix and had a couple of issues. I am living in a 4g hdspa area not LTE yet but my speeds with the VIVID were only around 82kb so I talked to ATT and they checked to see if the sim was correct and everything was ok. I then took the sim out the VIVID and put it back in the Atrix I then get over 5mb down. I then go back to ATT and they replace the phone and same issue so they issue a brand new sim and still the same issue. I am going to keep the phone for a couple of weeks to see if something changes but is anybody seeing this issue in non LTE areas. Thanks
I have the skyrocket and getting worse speeds then on other 3g phones I had?

I'm getting about 1.3 Mbs in non LTE... (Portland)
Thanks for the post I checked with ATT and they cannot figure whats causing this problem I am guessing that somehow ATT LTE Phones are getting confused when there is not LTE in the area and somehow slowing the data down. I am not sure but hopefully will get some answers. Thanks
I sometimes get a couple of mb down and then it throttles back to less than a 100 kb this happened on two brand new phones
I was wondering could it be the APN settings are incorrect.
These phones will be either in LTE or HSPA mode and not both at once. If you see the 4G indicator without LTE under it you are on UMTS/HSPA. If you lose the 4G indicator then congratulations, you are on 2G GSM. Also note that when you make a call the mobile will drop down to UMTS/HSPA and your data speeds will be slower until it reselects back to LTE.
And all phones will have the PTA APN...
I just ran a couple times & about 2 meg down & .9 meg up.
I did have to load APN info this morning because I had no mobile connection at all.

Look at your build.prop file in /system what are the hsdpa and hsupa class values? Att screwed the inspire before by lowering the classes, then finally upped them. We may need to update them as well. I think hsdpa of 26 and hsupa of 7 were what the inspire needed to be faster. Mine are 12 and 6 right now. Need root to change though.

Mine are set at 14/6. Wonder if they throttled these phones like they did the inspire and atrix when they first came out. I've been getting 6/7 down and between .8/1.3 up. Not great but not horrible, about the same as my atrix 2 was.

Ok the thing about this phone is that there is no 3g radios in it. You either get LTE, HSPA+ or edge. So if you are in a poor coverage area that uses mainly 3g, dont get this phone. Honestly i dont see the point of this phone if you dont live in one of the LTE cities or very near it. I live in plano and work in richardson and both those area have LTE so i havent had to resort to hspa+ yet. So moral of the story, there is no 3G on this phone...
But anyways here are my speedtest results. the low ones were in the college library with 1 bar so that didnt suprise me.

Are you serious? Is this why I've been having trouble connecting to websites since yesterday? I definitely didnt have 4g signals all the time when I was on the htc inspire. It would often go to 3g, and now if this phone has no 3g then that must explain my issues. At&t really mislead customers. First they release 4g phones and barely had a 4g network. Now they release lte phones, I think you see the pattern.
I may just go to the atrix 2?

S3 Mini on us carriers?

Hello all,
Like most of you I was excited to hear of this smaller version of the galaxy s3. I've enjoyed my note 2 for a little over 2 months now and I can't get enough of its beautiful screen. Now with this said, I find myself wanting a smaller phone that I could take in a pinch instead of the huge note 2. I find this small form factor of a phone to be the perfect size. So, when is this phone coming to America? Specifically to Verizon? Anyone have any insight?

I havn't seen any date for US launch and I'm not even sure it will be available for US at all..
Didn't Samsung make Galaxy Axiom for US market instead?
Anyway.. I think you can get a simfree one online, but it probably will be shipped with a EU standard charger.
Thanks to Apple, it will NOT be sold in the US.

"Network Frequencies and Band: 2G Network - GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and then 3G Network - HSDPA 900/1900/2100.
This will work with T-Mobile. T-Mobile requires 1700/2100 for their 4G and 3G BUT their 1900 network is their new network they are reframing and that gets you HSDPA speeds which is faster than 3G. So yes you can get 3G/HSDPA with this phone from T-Mobile still if you are in the covered area.
This phone will also work with AT&T, once again because their 1900 is their main 3G network. Yes it also runs on 850, but anywhere it runs on 850, it is also covered by 1900, which is what this phone supports..so all you need is the 1900 network support which this phone has.
And i'll repeat is just one more time because some people still ask...This phone will work with AT&T and T-Mobile because it has the 1900 network! Which is all you need to get 3G for both companies. The 850 for AT&T doesn't matter, and the 1700/2100 for T-Mobile doesn't matter (make sure you are in a reframed area). Hope this cleared things up "

I'm on T-Mobile.
I bought one for my wife recently because she needed a new phone and the full size S3 is just too big. She gets pretty good coverage here in the San Fernando Valley just north of LA. She gets some 4G signal a lot of the time, occasionally 3G, and some EDGE. The T-Mobile network is not yet that built out, even here in SoCal.
The big lack is that the device has no LTE modem, although that also may make for better battery.

HTC One LTE signal compared to other phones

I myself have an HTC EVO LTE and love the (almost) all metal construction that HTC did with the phone. The one thing I do not like however, is the LTE performance. 3G is great and on par with other devices, but as we all know metal does not play nice with cellular siganls, especially LTE.
Which leads me to my question/request......
Can someone tell me (or better yet show me) what the HTC One compares to lets say a GS3 or other LTE device with regards to LTE reception. Really what I would like to see is the RSRP (dBm) values of each device sitting side by side. I know most of the International folks don't have LTE so they wouldn't be able to test this but with the U.S. launch dates approaching there might be some review units floating around for ATT and Sprint that someone could use for a quick LTE comparison.
Thanks in advance!
I'm sure they tested the device and LTE works. Plus there's videos when the device was announced that talks about the signal straight from HTC......
No one has a device to tell you the signal strength,

We are about 2 weeks away from the official launch on sprint and at&t. I'm sure people will start receiving their phones soon and could test this.
And its not that the LTE won't work..... Its that I don't want to have another EVO LTE with weak LTE radios compared to other phones like the GS3.

Sprint vs T-Mobile [Dev Edition/TMO Version] in Maryland

[I'm cross-posting this in the TMO HTC One forum as well]
My situation:
1. I've been with Sprint since the OG Evo, but after getting the One, I was really frustrated with the slow LTE speeds especially after years of Network Vision promises and paying an extra $10 a month (per phone) for "high speed data" that was anything but. I was also irked at all the crap I had to go through to get the SIM unlocked.
2. The area I live in has refarmed HSPA+ to the 1900Mhz band.
3. The area I live in has AWS LTE.
4. I currently have a Sprint, T-Mobile, and Developer Edition One.
My original plan was to use the DE to test the TMO network to see if it was faster than Sprint and available in all the places I frequent. If so, then I'd sell my (now SIM unlocked) Sprint model and keep the DE, otherwise, I'd return the DE for a refund.
But over the last week and a half I've noticed that, while LTE speeds were frequently pretty high (15-20Mbps) there were still plenty of times when I was only seeing an H or an E. I couldn't even tell if the H was HSPA or HSPA+. So then I began to wonder if I was missing out because of the lack of the 1700Mhz band, thus I bought the TMO version to see if I was missing anything.
Turns out, I wasn't. The H I've been seeing is indeed HSPA+ but nowhere near the advertised 42Mbps. Granted, I wasn't naive enough to think I would pull 42Mbps even with the TMO version, but I expected to get at least in the 20-30Mbps range, instead I've been seeing 5-9Mbps. (Thanks to the Sensorly app, I can now tell which H I'm seeing).
After running around with TMO version, I'm seeing the exact same speeds in the same places. So, I'm not missing anything by not having 1700Mhz. In the meantime, TMO is still refarming more areas so the 1700Mhz is becoming less and less important.
So what about Sprint? At their lowest, the TMO speeds are equal to or a little above the Sprint speeds I've been seeing (my wife inherited the Sprint version during this trial run), and at their highest, Sprint can't touch them (in this area--I've gotten up to 20Mbps in PA).
So T-Mobile it is. When the wife's contract is up at the end of the month, the Sprint model is going up on Swappa. Meanwhile, the TMO version is going back to the store tomorrow.
What about AT&T you ask? Way faster, but way more expensive. Truth is, I spend most of my time on wifi anyway, so I'm not willing to pay AT&T prices for cable internet speeds for the times in between.
Hope this helps anyone else facing the same dilemma.
Really interesting

With your unlocked Sprint One, what happens if you put your T-Mobile SIM in it? Do you get service? If so, is it HSPA or just EDGE?
Oh, the fun of having choices!
There is not a single provider in my area that carries the HTC One and has LTE. I wish I even had a choice to be able to test. Verizon has LTE in my area, but no HTC one. I wonder how many other people are in my same situation?
