Capacitive button hit area - Sprint HTC One (M7)

This is not an issue of sensitivity but does any one else think the hit area for the back and home buttons to be really small.
Sometimes I find myself swiping around the area just to make sure I hit them.
As an aside is there a way to keep the capacitive buttons lit while the screen is on. I think this would help me deal with the issue.

I'm with you on that one. Many times I have to tap around that area a few times before I actually get it to register.

HTC Incredible S power on/off button

is it normally slanted down in the front part? and hard to press? i have a capdase case which really makes it a bit harder to press the power button. is this normal for the HTC IS's build?
I finding it frustrating aswell!
All i got from HTC customer service was that's how it is.
I'm kinda used to it, but it doesn't click enough.
thanks for the reply, so i guess that's they way it is built. good to hear that nothing is wrong with my phone, but bad that it's just that way.
I would of liked more of a feedback from the button....or bigger..ohwell

same goes for me. but other than that i'm finding the phone excellent. hope they get the s-off to work, but not rushing since stock is pretty good.
I have issues waking up the phone with Capdase cover too and also the Headphone doesnt connect properly sometimes due to the Capdase cover again
I have found that if you push down and toward yourself (understand) it is much easier to press, tho a little awkward to begin with

I can't say I have a problem with it, and it's not like I have need to press it very often. If it were easier to press then it might get pressed by accident.
I often go looking for the ON button on the wrong side of the phone. Lack of physical buttons makes it hard to distinguish top and bottom when I pull phone out of pocket. It is only day 3 so plenty of time to get used to things.

I had the phone for about 4 months and still get the top and bottom mixed up when I pull it out my pocket.

I use an app called no lock from the market. It disables the lock screen and you can wake the phone with the volume rocker. Less wear and tear on the volume rocker.

[Q] Answering incoming calls

Does anyone know why half the time I get a call, I have a screen where I need to swipe up in order to answer, and the other half of the time I just need to press a button to answer?
Does anybody else notice this is happening?
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
I've noticed this too back since the days of Revolt. As to why this is the case I do not know. But I personally like the press button answer rather than the swipe up since it always seems like the it takes forever to answer the call that way
Same here, I would really love the button approach, I've missed quite a few calls, as the swiping doesn't always trigger all the time.
It depends on whether or not the screen is on or off. On gives you buttons, off gives you the slide to answer

Sometimes is miss the call because of the slide up ****

Should home and back be illuminated ?

My home and my back arent illuminated I'm sure they were when I got the phone

Thanks

cover the 2 sensors on the top left with a piece of folded paper or something, do they light up?
Ah yes .. I'm sat under a bright light doooh thank you
Thought my home and back was faulty . It sometimes is less responsive than other times (double tap to get multi apps ) but I'm presuming that's a software glitch
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Others are reporting issues with the buttons sometimes not responding, not sure if it's a software glitch, or just a small footprint for the buttons, ie you have to press right on the button and not in the general area if you know what i mean.
Cool I'll relax then and stop worrying my phone is faulty. Big thanks

I would monitor how you go with pressing the buttons, it may be a glitch, but i know when i'm using mine, i am often off the button when i press it, being used to the One X for the last year, the buttons are further to the edge, so automatically i have been pressing further out than the actual buttons are.
I always turn mine off. Just saying lol

I have been careful to hit in middle and it's working on now thanks
Turned what off ?

The capacitive area is in fact VERY small. Just barely bigger than the Home and Back icons themselves. Precision touch is required and is why I suspect some think its not responsive

I use an app called keyboard backlights from play. Works great but recently in occasions they come on anyway. They are off 80% of the time though. Can only do if your rooted btw

Try this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39498430&postcount=7
Seems that the One has very small area of touch for buttons, so probably not software problem.
Turn on vibrate and you will realise how small of an area we have .. seems the way it's been designed and not a bug . Vibrate assists because you know when your missing now don't have the issue

My one has some annoying defects

I bought mine with the htc deal a few weekends ago. Ive had it for a while now, and there are two things i have noticed. The area of the back button bends ina littlw if i push on it, it will go in and bend a little and it is very disturbing to me.
On the bottom right of the screen, there is a small streak of light, probably from the home button or something, undwr the screen and it goes a good inch and a half in the screen, on an angle. I think it may have gotten bigger since I have had the phone.
Does anyone else have either of these problems, and what shod I do? I bought it at newegg wireless, not the official sprint store.

take it back, it's defective
Unfortunately i cant provide pictures because the back button thing is not really detectable in a picture, and neither is the white streak of light, i tried. But i bought mine at the newegg wireless store online and it was more than 14 days ago so is there any way of them replacing it?
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
contact with HTC, say there's some hardware issues for your mobile phone, maybe they will provide a new one to replace it

answering calls difficult

Seems my swipe to answer takes anywhere from 3 to 5 swipes before it will actually answer the call. Is this an isolated thing or are others having the same issue? Missed plenty of calls because of it.
No issues answering calls at all for me.

Some difficulties here, just have to make sure to hit it exactly on mine.

Are there any hardware buttons that answer like the power button can end?

I rest my finger on the answer before swiping. Works better That way. Have seen the same issue.

I find this problem on every Android phone I ever owned, touched or played with.
I changed it to Home Button to answer the call,it's a lot better (you can change in ACCESSIBILITY).
Resting my finger on the answer slider for a split second seems to be helping. Kind of annoying that I have to do this on a brand new phone but what can I do...thanks guys
Hold your finger on the answer button until the green ring gets larger, then swipe.

I think this is a pocket guard feature if your phone is facing your leg. Just my two cents. Don't think it can be disabled.

first make restart. then you can return to factory settings

your right on with that answer, there is about a 500 millisecond delay for swipe to answer in order to prevent the accidental answering of a call while its in your pocket/purse/briefcase etc. this can be modified by changing some smali code in the incallui.apk (i believe) but i wouldnt recomend it.
i find my phone calling people from time to time. when i take it out of my pocket. lol.. dont think the feature is helping me t all.
