[Q] Long battery charged and discharged rapidly - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Long battery charging from 0% to 100% over 4 hours and 10 minutes off. Is this normal? When watching a movie at full brightness and volume goes 1% charge for 3 minutes. 100% enough for 4 hours and 40 minutes of viewing. How long does the battery you? stamina shown at 100% 4 days 21 hours. It shows you how much? I think the results should be better?

Be careful with the brightness, as it's kinda a big screen, it just does more waste of energy. Even with Bravia Engine 2 i guess, (correct me if i'm wrong). Also chech all the configurations. Sync, mobile data mode, screen timeout. etc.

All data transmissions are disabled. 1 hour of standby time it takes 1%. I think the long charging 4 hours. It is necessary to carry it in for repair or is it all wrong and it is considered the norm?

Are you using the charger in the box? Old chargers are usually slower.
4 hour charges are nothing really. My iPad takes 4 hours to charge on 2A and 8-9 hours on phone chargers.
Big battery = long charge time

i don't know if that's a problem dude. i charge my xperia SP for only 2 hours and 30 mins. i can last 2 days without charging. sending an SMS, playing games for at least 1 hr. surfing the internet for 2 hours. my xperia sp is just new and i believe my battery backup will improve because of battery charging cycles.

4 hours is normal fir watching a movie with full brightness, especially if you turn on WiFi and mobile data. When I play a heavy game it usually lasts 4 hours. Just be smart with your phone settings and the battery can last longer

[Q] Battery Life on Xperia Z. Sucks.

Folks,
Can anyone suggest how much battery life they are getting on their device. Not sure it is a common problem or my device is defective.
It stays on for only 3 to 4 hours and dies, i.e. just a couple of messages and emails (albeit on 100% brightness and NOT on Stamina mode). Is it normal. Brightness to be kept on auto?
If I play video or so, battery goes from 100 to 10% in about 1 hour maximum.
Have juice defender installed. Also a task killer (which kills the background ones and they restart on their own). But not so much help though.
Any suggestions?

Try the battery guru snapdragon app, which works well for me.

Get rid of juice defender, reduce brightness to 75% on usual daily use, and you should get around 4 to 5 hours screen on time, and up to 24 hours standby time.

snapdragon guru is not available for all region But lemme know about ur kernel and model; c6602 OR c6603?
little working with xZ just uses less than 20% in 24hrs
with 50% brightness & Stamina On
Xperia z is either having a software or hardware problem
I use a note 10.1 for two months and did gaming all the time with 3g on but it lasted for two days without charging. But the Z cant even handle 15 minutes of gaming. It goes down from 71% to 62% IN 15 MINUTES. I expected the update would fix the problem. But I dont see any difference. I was so curious with the Z. But I doubt that now. Is the fate of Sony going to be that of like Toyota.

why are you comparing note 10.1 to the sony xperia z are you nuts
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_10_1_n8000-4573.php
your comparing a 7000 mah battery to a 2330 mah you have to be mad to think your going to get the same performance out of the two. i swear some people are full of crap
It's not bad at all.
In the second image, the on screen time was 4 hours. Plus I used out for about 3 our 4 hours of calls.

Reduce the brightness, using 100% is madness.
Root and install greenify then get rid of task killer and juice defense
Sent from my LT22i using xda app-developers app
On 100% brightness I wouldn't expect much more.
From experience I set my screen brightness to about 25%, which is more than enough for normal use indoors. If I need to use the phone outdoors or in sunlight I'll put the brightness up but it always goes back to 25% when I'm indoors again.
The only sync I have on mine is my Google account, everything else is set to manually refresh only.
On my 3rd day of owning the phone I had 24h+ of use from it, and that's still improving. My battery is on about 60% at the moment after 18 hours. If I turn on Stamina Mode it predicts another 2 days!
However, if I was watching videos at 100% screen brightness, I wouldn't expect much more than an hour or two. Horses for courses.
Not Normal

Your situation is not normal. Maybe the battery life on the Xperia Z sucks. Maybe it's all about managing your apps and stuff - but no. Not that much. Playing video shouldn't drain the battery 90% in an hour. I play streaming video over WiFi for 2 hours a day (boring train ride) and leave WiFi on and Stamina mode off all day. Maybe when I get home at the end of the day the battery is at like 30% and maybe I don't play with the phone much once I get to work - but video kills the battery in an hour? Not if it's hardware accelerated video.
I al sure some people will say "See what is running in the background", but I am not sure you would be able to drain your battery that fast even running like @home stuff.
After a few charge and when the battery is season it will be okay

[Q] Note wierd battery problem

My note is only 4-5 months old.
But what happened 3 days back was I only charged my phone to 50% in the evening and took It off, then I must have used it for 2-3 hours in night and then went to sleep.
Next morning it was 25%, I used it till 5 and then tried to charge but it won't recognize the charger.
And keep switching driving mode and s voice on and off.
Then when I restarted it, it shows 40% battery from 5% without me charging it at all.
From then on the charging problem was solved but
It goes 100-60 in 2 hrs (idle)
And rest 60% lasts a bit longer ?
Thanks for ur replies and interest.
You should calibrate or change your battery. It may had been condem.

[Q] Xperia z battery draining

Hellow I'm a happy owner of the xperia z for 10 days, but I'm facing fast battery drain when using the phone. When Im just browsing the phone, battery goes down 1% percent every 3~4 minutes... When gaming battery drops 2-3 % every 5 minutes. I need some help, I didnt charge the phone the first time for 8 hours, but i read it is not necessary. I'm rooted, 4.3 jb, doom kernel v21. I have deleted some of the bloatware and i don't have WiFi and data on all the time. Also media server sometimes goes up to 21% in battery usage.

That battery drainage seems normal to me. Playing games needs alot of battery. Battery usage depends on several things, how high is the screen brightness etc.. To your media server: are you listening to music with your phone? Or watching videos? All this is done by media server.

Some people are reporting 5 hours on screen time. If I game for one hour, i can barely get 3 hours on screen time. My usage is 30 minutes Web, music. For about one hour and a half, gaming 1 hour tops, and some browsing the phone.

Most times i close some, and.the phone is new.
1% every 3 minutes or so is not excessive drain. If you do the calculations, then that works out to 300 minutes to fully drain the battery, or 5 hours.
As the phone is new, it will take a few charge cycles for the battery to reach full capacity anyway, so see what the battery life is doing in a week or so.

As i know is not good to totally drain the battery. For example, i was talking to the phone and had wifi on right now, and my. Battery has gone down 14% in the last thirty minutes. My on screen time is at almost 2 hours, without gaming, and my. Battery level is at 43%
Edit i set screen brightness to 35%, my battery level is 41%. Sometines phone draws 1% every 2 and half minutes.
Yes, I know you shouldn't completely drain the battery. Total screen time calculations should be based on the full capacity though, or I could say I only get 1 hour screen on because I always recharge the battery at 80%! (I don't. It's an example).
Using the phone in different ways will drain the battery faster than others. The battery usage you described in your first post is not unusually high and will probably improve after a few charge cycles.

1% every 3 minutes = 5 hours of screen on time.
Again, nothing abnormal here.

Turn off Fast Boot in settings. Power off phone.
Plug phone into HTC charger and charge for two minutes or more
While charging, hold down volume up+volume down+power button and continue holding
Phone will turn on and off repeatedly every 15 seconds or so while continuing to hold all three buttons
Keep this going for 2 minutes, then release buttons when phone is ON
Now, let phone charge fully normally (with phone either on or off--doesn't matter) and battery level reporting, charging and battery life should be normalized.

Battery life

Hello guys i have bought a note 8 from 7 days and i have Seen that battery percentual decrease quickly. In the morning after some minutes with only display unlock i loose 5%.
Is this normal?
Thank you
Dude dont charge your phone to 100% over and over all the night. You cant remplace easily the battery. Dont worry about your battery drain, I thinks is ok. Normally we got 6-7 hours of screen on time, so if you only lose 5% in 30 min... it mean you can get around 10 hours!

I charge my phone on a wireless charger base overnight and it stops charging when at 100% and no problems! Anyway, if you read the latest thoughts on charging, keeping the battery over 60% is best and no damage will be done by over night charging!

The best for a litium battery is stay in 40-60 percent. Charging more than 80% will also damage your battery life (but sooo much less than let it drain to 0%). Charging over night isnt good for a battery (at least I think it). Check AccuBattery, is a very nice app to battery management. And when you hit the 100% it stops, but will run again because you wont get a 99% while the phone are in the pad. Hope I help you ^^
Do you monitor your data? You could have some apps working in the background and using both your data and battery. Install a data monitor app to check which apps use your data.
I get 1.5 to 2.5 % drain per hour in idle, gps wifi and data off, aod on, sometimes even 0.9% per hour overnight
