[Q] Why is there so little development available for the kindle fire hd 7? - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

why? well, because development start when people like you (normal people) try to help, developers dont appear instantly.

I plan on working on AOKP for it, but it's been out for so long that I would've thought that there would be more ROMS for it.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

The development has been slow due to a fairly locked down device.

I had a jar of "Instant Developer" (just add caffeine) on the shelf here, but it's way over its expiration date.

It seems that for some it's not enough what is done here. They didn't have "fun" for months trying to improve our Kindles and enjoying every small step we have taken ...
To me the greatest achievement has been to uncover the true potential of the machine without leaving the Amazon's design, by breaking down the barriers imposed.
I don't think that Jelly Bean is the goal to achieve for any android device if it implies losing the manufacturer's environmental benefits...I've been in CM10.1 and I definitely prefer Kinology, which includes all and many more advances from the last few months, while maintaining the benefits of Amazon OS.

I felt the original kindle needes a lot of help but this one is awesome with just root.

Maybe you should ask that question to Hashcode and Maromi who have spent countless hours unlocking the boot loader and developing the kernel which allows us GRATEFUL users to improve our Kindles. Just saying.

A lot of the devs working on this device are multitasking with other projects too.I'm grateful to any one who has helped what little we have is pretty solid actually and I'm sure there will be more to come. With our screen, speakers, and hdmi out this is still a formidable device for the price range

I would want Quad Core optimisation. There is not much difference in the feel of Android in Quad Core handsets.
I want Google to do something that would make Apple jealous and when Apple sues Google for no reason, I want to see Google Win
I'm enjoying Jelly Bean, since its pretty new and 99% of Android users don't run it yet. Why are we talking about a new version already?

I think Google may develop a Voice Assistant like Siri built into Google Now. And am not a fan of voice assistants but it seems to be hot around. They may also do something for battery life.

Google has to get a standardized AirPlay equivalent across all their devices, that is TOP on my list. And I would like to see continued development and integration of Google Now.

I talk to my phone all the time, it's much easier. I use to only when searching for things but now that I have Google Now I use it much more. Most of the time if I am around somebody they ask me what kind of phone I have. I mean I wouldn't use it at a funeral and I don't go to church or Walmart and usually never the mall, I try to avoid mass social situations unless there is a DJ/producer I want to hear.

THIS THIS THIS! A battery is not a feature of the OS, and while making the OS more battery efficient is always good.. I want to see some advancement in the state of batteries, the phone has improved so much in the past few years it's crazy, the battery needs to catch up. I'm talking at least 3 day+ battery no matter the use in all devices.

post which rom are you using and reason for it?

hello to all of you buddies...
i am opening this thread so as to make easy for everyone to get views about various roms available for nexus 7...i think it will also decrease the counts of threads asking "which is the best rom?"
pls also post the model (3g or wifi only) so as to avoid confusion with the post...
anybody fell free to post your views about kernels also...

Not rooting a nexus device is like owning a Bugatti Veron and not using the the key to unlock the performance mode lol. Just joshing you a little. It does do well stock I must say.
Right now I am cm10.1 but sure I will be a flashaholic like I am with my bolt. Lots of ROMs and kernels to choose from. I am like a kid in a candy store

Paranoid android 2.99 on my Nexus 7 wifi - I use it over stock because of the hybrid ui options and control over dpi on an app by app basis. Other stuff I like is 'fullscreen' mode option on the power button pop up thing.

I know it, but I bought it when my laptop was out of commission due to HDD failure and by the time I got my HDD and realized I needed recovery discs and finally got it going again I didn't want to unlock my boot loader and lose all my game progress. So as long as I'm satisfied with stock I'll use my g'nex for flashing purposes

Just like a 'best ROM' thread, this is thread useless. You can easily see what ROMs are the most popular by looking at their threads in the Dev section and seeing the level of activity. Knowing that still doesn't tell you what ROM is best for you. Only you can decide that based on your own needs and usage.
Sorry folks.,
One of the big no-no's is asking which rom is best.
This, can only be answered by installing several roms, and deciding which is best for "You".
One can read the threads, and see which rom has the least issues, and also see what features are best for your needs.
WE can't make that choice for you. If we could, then there would only be "1" rom for all users, based on the highest amount of posts.
In the end, YOU have to decide.
Thread closed, in an effort to prevent flaming.

Oh I know grouper developing will continue. Sorry I'm not good at expressing myself in forums and threads as I tend to trail off. Its a fact that there are some ROMs and kernels that have been, well -abandoned- for lack of a better word. I'm just trying to thank those devs that have moved on for whatever reason. I had the first kindle fire and was actually surprised to see people dev.ing for Otter. Guess I need to brush up on my online communication skills. I've miscommunicated my point on more than one occasion lately. Think I'll stick to just downloading and let everyone else do the talking.

Not really a Ubuntu or convergence fan. I would personally just purchase a powerful notebook for the price of an Edge, or buy a cheap notebook & turn that into Ubuntu, but to each their own.

the point is not to have to carry two devices with you at all times, in order to have a full mobile OS and desktop OS. This enables you to have a mobile OS when traveling, and a desktop OS when you get home, to work, what-have-you

My main concern is that they usually only make significant UI changes with major numerical version updates. Since it's 4.4 and not 5.0, my thought is that there will be probably a few new features within more or less the same UI. That's not a problem, per se, but in my opinion the current Android UI is getting a little stale and could really use a refresh (especially the launcher). That's mainly what I'm hoping for in the next version of Android. I suppose we only have a couple months until we find out for sure though.

The overall theme basically hasn't changed since ICS. That's why I was hoping for version 5 and a refreshed UI. Jelly Bean is nice looking, but it's getting a little stale. We don't want the exact same look version after version like iOS

I personally like the way android's interface is right now. Besides there are many options with custom romming and custom launchers that allows you to customize it so much that a "major upgrade" isn't necessary. Just my opinion though.

OH REALLY?
Please send me a link to a Sprint GS4 4.3 leak or ROM. The international and other GSM carriers have a leak which has been ported to the Sprint gs4, but this isnt from sprint. So how do you expect to have a 4.4 KitKat Official update to the Sprint GS4 in the next month or so if we don't even have 4.3 yet. It at least another 1 month before we get 4.3 official update. then another 2-3 months for 4.4 update. Which puts it in the Jan/Feb range. So do not tell me I am ignorant and stupid.
And you should really read the rules. Here is the specific one I am referring to, just in case you forgot it.
