[Q] can't install Nook app on CM10 - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just installed Cyanogen 10.1 but the nook app from GooglePlay says it's not compatible with my device... And now when i go back to the play store it wont even show up when i search for it. I see there were some others with the same issue a while back but no one replied with a fix.
Does anyone have some ideas?? wife won't be too thrilled if she can't get her precious smut books.
Thanks
Happy wife = Happy life

screw it... I found a .apk for the current version. installed. works.
Found the file at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545664
Every other app that i find for this device works just fine so i'm not going to put too much fuss into finding out why it wouldn't install from the google play market.
Although if anyone has had this happen and found out the cause i'd be interested to see what it was for future reference.
Thanks

[Q] Has anyone gotten the Sports Illustrated app (tablet edition) ?

I am trying to install it via the Market online and the G-tablet is not listed as being compatible with it.
Dled it last night love it runs like a charm on vegan rom
I don't see the tablet edition available...All i get is the phone version in market...
I have searched google for an apk file and no one has one. The tablet version isnt in the android market even after being fixed and the online android market doesnt support vegan so i conclude we cant get it yet
I just grabbed it from the market, and it worked fine. I did get a message that it was for the galaxy tab.
I am running VEGAn 5.1.1.
Carl
My market will only see the phone edition of the app.
Can anyone pull the tablet edition apk and post it for download?

Same here.
APK would be greatly appreciated. Really looking forward to seeing some tablet optimized apps on the gTab
I just found it in the market. I am using vegan-tab. In settings, applications...clear cache AND data for Market, then force stop. Then clear data and force stop Google Services Framework. Reboot, accept terms of services in market, and you should find it. I just did this and it worked. The key is to also clear Market data. Hope this helps!
I found it but it says my device is not compatible. I did however able if I want to download the phone version.
Does it display in landscape? Is it free or just one free issue?
It displays in portrait only, but I think the layout is great. The app is free but the subscription is not. I get the issues in the app for free because I have a print subscription, but I believe you can also pay for a digital only subscription (don't know how much that costs).
Same issues here - can't find it in the market and can't find an apk on the web. If anyone could post the apk it would be much appreciated. I have a print subscription that gets recycled every week - the landfills are crying!
Don't really feel like uploading it anywhere, but feel free to pm me your email if anyone wants it. Backed it up with astro.
+1 for not linking the apk. Last thing anyone needs (XDA included) is the ire of sports illustrated. If you take your time you can find it on teh intertubes.

-5 for Mantara for not nowing anyone can have the apk since you have to have a subscription to gain access to the content anyway!

Updated Nook App (v 2.7) Doesn't Run under CM7

I just updated my NOOK app and it does not run. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same result. Anyone else gotten the updated nook app that came out today running under CM7?
EDIT: Never mind. I cleared Data and then it was able to run. . . It does require a complete reload of all of your books due to a new architecture. . . so bear that in mind. . .
Hopefully this addresses the general crappy performance the old nook app had under cm7. I swear every other app I use works flawlessly. The old nook app constantly forced closes, is very insensitive to touches, and just plain old sucks. Eventually when you got it to load a book it is pretty stable but will still lose your spot every so often.
It drove me to set up dual boot stock/cm7. I am booting back to CM7 now to test the new version out!

agreed, not really impressed with the nook app, it does work though (newest update). irritates the hell out of me when it loses my place, i've found that the bookmark feature seems to work if I can remember to use it lol.
The only reason I use the Nook app is to show off to my little niece about the page-flip feature, that's all.
I read .epub using either Cool Reader or Aldiko while using Adobe Reader for .pdf.
How did you install the the 2.7 update? While the nook app shows up in the Market, there is no option to install or update. When I go to the web based Market interface, it claims that the nook app is not compatible with my CM7 Nook Color. I've tried the usual fixes like editing the build.prop file for screen density (160/161) and also to make the device/manufacturer appear to be HTC. No luck. I found a 2.6 apk that works fine, but have yet to find a 2.7 apk outside the Market. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Uninstall the market update and you can search it and it will have a download button.
I wish the nook app supported the "read to me" books that I bought and now can't use unless I put stock back on my nook. I'd like to also be able to read them on my phone or another tablet.

I am running into the same issue with Phiremod'd 6.3 and the B&N android app.
However in my case, once uninstalled (original was corrupt and would not work), returning to the Android Marketplace and selecting the app does not bring up a download button. Gives me all the info about the application, but no app download or uninstall.
Any thoughts as to why this is happening? If it were windows, I'd say there was a registry setting left that was making the system think the app was still installed...

Total noob here, just got my nook color last week. I have CM7 on an SD card and I am having the 'no download button' problem. Can you point me how I can install the old market? Thanks.

I have a quick question: is it possible to lock the old market down so it doesn't auto-upgrade. Every now and then, out of the blue, I fire up the market only to find that the app has updated. I can then stop the Market and uninstall updates. But it's a pain in the a$$ to do that over and over and over...
Uninstall the market updater app. (I used Titanium Backup for that.)

CM7 installed, but nook app won't work right

I'm loving CM7 and having netflix is amazing but not having the nook app really hurts.
I can log in fine. It sees my library but when I try to download the books from my library I get the message "Problem downloading this item. Please try again Later."
I'm able to download the free-be books just fine, just not the one's I've purchased for other devices. Also, I can't seem to find any books I've side loaded onto the nook.
Any ideas?
Btw, I'm on the nightly 217 though I had the same problem with an older version as well.
Try installing CM7.1 as the stable is out now.

No dice. Still forces closes for me on 7.1 and the newest nightly too (217).
Ok, 2 people with different issues.....
cinciblue6, try fixing permissions. If that does not work you need to tell us more. Any other apps causing force closes? What version of the Nook app are you using? Did it ever work? Can you recall when it stopped and what you had recently done?
Tapiozona, when you sync it do all your books show up? What version of the app are you using? Sometimes I find if I long press the book and choose show details and then the download button from the new screen if goes through anyway.
@patruns
My problem is slightly different. Mine can download books just fine but when I try to open them, it force closes. Not sure when it stopped working. I would guess sometime after nightly 197 (though I went straight to 210 after that.) VLC Remote also does not work (though I just dled that last night so it never has.)
Tried fixing permissions but it didn't do anything to help the situation.
Edit: I may have updated the Nook app recently. I'll check to see.
Try signing out of the B&N app, then reboot and sign back in. You will have to re-download any books you wish to read though. This was also required when updating the app last month.

Did it before and just did it again and still no dice.
I'm gonna do an uninstall and reinstall and see if it works. If not, I guess I'll just wait to see if it ever starts working. I have a regular Nook so it's not a big deal but for magazines I prefer the NC.
Thanks for the help.

I fixed this issue for a customer the other day, it happened because the credit card associated with the account had expired. Log in to the B&N website and try changing your credit card on file and see if that helps.

App gone with reboot

So I'm trying to be a hero to my nephew and install some games that do not show on the market. Smurfs Village is my example. He has a Nook running CM7.2 Mirage.
I installed the games on my phone, did a backup, then pushed the apk to the nook. They install and run fine.
Problem is, when I do a reboot they are gone. It must have something to do with a market check then they get removed as an incompatible app.
My searching has found nothing but I KNOW I saw this issue somewhere.
Any help?
Steve
Interesting!
Can you do install, play a bit then reboot one more time and see if it is really the case?
Plus since Google just changing Market to Play, get into the settings and see if anything weird there.

[Q] Is there anyway to get Sims Freeplay to work on my rooted Nook HD?

Hi,
I'm really hoping someone can help or at the very least, put me out of my misery. My little girl loves playing Sims Freeplay that I downloaded from the Play Store onto my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7". So, we purchased a Nook HD for Christmas for her. After switching on for the first time, and loading the Play Store, Sims Freeplay didnt even appear on the Play Store. After searching through google it came up with the error message 'Your device isnt compatible with this version'.
After searching online, it was suggested that a rooted Nook HD would allow access to all Play Store Apps. So, I followed the root instructions on this site and downloaded CM 10-1-3 with all of the other relevant programs and installed. Everything went fine and I have a rooted Nook HD, great. Unfortunately, this has not solved the problem of Sims Freeplay. It still doesnt appear on the Play Store and when accessing it via Google it still gives the same error message.
Other users have suggested changing the LCD dpi resolution to 240 but this is the resolution already installed on CM 10-1-3. I have also tried changing it to 320 and 170 (which I believe is the dpi for the Samsung Tab 2 7") but with no joy.
Is there actually a way around this problem because if there isnt I would rather know as this was the main reason for buying my daughter her own tablet in the first place. Should I sell it and replace with a compatible device or is there something I have missed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot find a solution anywhere.
Stuart.
There is a way to get the game on your HD device with CM installed (through the 1mobile.com store), which I tried, but it would not run. It said it could not connect to the EA server and to contact customer support. You might want to try a different device.

One thing to try is grabbing the APK for the app from your compatible tablet and then sideloading it on your HD. I do this sometimes on my Nexus 7 for the Comcast email/accounts app, then move it to my HD+ and install it. The app I use to grab the APK is called "APK Fetcher" in the play store.
That said, the app may or may not run well on your HD, but it doesn't cost anything to try.
Oops, posted at the same time as Leapinlar (who would know better). Only other thought is: I wonder if the game would run on stock ? You can sideload apps on stock without root.

Seems strange, some people claim to have got it working by changing the LCD DPI which I have tried myself both up and down but it has done nothing. Do you think that DPI would have anything to do with why the device is coming up as incompatible?.
Someone else suggested installing a modded version of Play Store which is claimed to get rid of the problem but to be honest I dont really understand that process.
It's annoying that a tablet that I found to be inferior to the Nook HD (Samsung Tab 2 7") works perfectly but the Nook HD doesnt work at all (neither does the Nook HD+ for that matter I think).
Stuart.
