Can't locate CWM backups! - Motorola Atrix HD

So I've been able to backup and restore nandroids using CWM but when i'm looking for the actual backups using a file explorer (es file explorer) as well as mounting usb storage on Windows, i can't seem to find the backups to delete them. These backups are taking up memory! to my understanding, they should be under clockworkmod/backups but the folder is empty. Any ideas?

Look for clockwork mod folder sometimes these bootleg roms run in a file called 0 (virtual sd card)on your internal sd card, try looking there as well.

You wouldn't mind putting what you have to say under the quoted text? Just makes it difficult to read posts where you quote people cause the flow reverses for a second... also reminds me of Jeopardy -- Answer followed by the Question .

You can always backup what's important on your internal sd and format it...that'll do the trick.

CWM Hides the Backups... Try Rom Manager
Rom Manager Premium is a big help for this issue. I had the same problem, not being able to find the backup. According to Rom Manager Premium (same developer as CWM backup):
"In Android 4.2 backups are placed in secure directory, inaccessible to other apps. Backups can be pulled with adb or by using the Rom Manager Backup Download Server."
The download server is a feature you can only get through Rom Manager. I haven't figured out how to make it work yet, so the plan is to simply reboot into CWM recovery and choose to backup directly to the external SD card. After that, I'm going to upload to Dropbox and erase the local file on the SD card.
Rom Manager is also good for deleting backups that you've made, and which take up space, but which you can't find on your internal SD card.

[Q] Deleted sd folder!

I have a Samsung Captivate and I accidentally deleted the sd (at least that is what i think it was called) folder. How do I get it back? If I just create a new folder that says 'sd' will it still save things onto my internal sd card?
my /sd/ folder is empty at least looking at it from the OI file manager on the phone
I think mine was as well but I want to put music on my phone and i want it to go on the internal sd. I tried seeing if the files would go directly on the sd so i put a few music files in a folder i created but when i checked my task manager the internal memory storage changed, not the internal sd storage.

It depends what OS you are running.
2.1 used /sdcard for internal and /sdcard/sd for external
2.2 moved these directories under /mnt but left the old directories empty

Does anybody know what to do if the sd folder is deleted?
I noticed I had an 'sd' folder and an 'external_sd' folder. The sd folder was blank, so I deleted it after I viewed it on my pc - there was nothing in it. It didn't seem to be needed. But now I can't view certain files on my phone only. I can view them on my laptop via USB connection using Windows Explorer.
To attempt to find this folder on my phone, that I CAN see on my laptop using Windows Explorer, I created a txt file in that folder (that I can't find on my phone), naming it 'sdmissing.txt'. I searched everywhere on my phone, even from root directory, trying to find this file and couldn't. Yet after connecting to my laptop via USB, I can see it. What can I do??
Thanks in advance for any help!

Turn off and on ur phone to see if it works for you or not. I found that sd is a hidden folder and its blank. When I flash custom roms, I do it without going to stock. But, I do delete Android, data, sd and some other folders, that I know will be automatically created after the reboot/flash. When I go to cwm recovery to install rom from zip, I do see the Android folder and sd folder showing up there. Don't panic. Just do normal shutdown and restart. If that doesn't fix, reflash the custom rom if you are using one.

[Q] Titanium Backup - Change default directory?

Just had my first boot-loop event last night... Took an hour or so to recover after formatting the internal SDCard space. Thanks go to all those who have beaten that path and graciously posted how to get back.
I had been storing my TiBackup files on the internal SDCard, so of course they were all gone. Is there a way to change the default directory? I see where, you can change the dir name, has anyone tried an absolute path? I'd like it to save to SDCard2.
If that doesn't work, can i schedule a script to copy it to SDCard2? That might be better, as then I can copy the CWM Backups too-
Thanks,
TheDude

I contacted the developer of Titanium Backup and he suggested that I use ../sdcard2/TitaniumBackup as the target directory name if I wanted to have the files stored directly on my external sd card. I tried it and it works just fine.

[HELP] clockworkmod folder (internal sdcard)

After making a (failed) nandroid backup through PhilZ CWM Touch 3 (latest, based on 6.0.1.5 if I'm not wrong), I saw into my "clockworkmod" folder
a folder named "µAA" and its weight is aroung 72GB. That's obviously not possible since my SDcard has 16GB of max capability.
The problem is: I can't delete this folder.
Any way to solve this? It's annoying me really much because I can't take photos or videos, and also I can't open the gallery.
Onnect your phone to pc and delete it from the pc
It it doesnt work, then copy all the useful data to pc and then format sdcard

Connect to PC & copy only the necessary files like photos, videos, data etc..then format the Ext memory card..I think this is the only option, since you are unable to delete it..I had this same issue in my previous phone's memory card..

How to Copy CWM Backup to PC

CWM backup locates backup to internal storarage to /data/media/clockwork. That folder is not available when I connect the HD+ to my PC. It is also not evident in /storage/emulated/0 or other locations. I couldn't make a symlink to that location either.
How to get a copy of the backup to PC without making a copy to ext_sdcard or other internal storage?
Does TWRP do the internal backup in the same location? Can you specify location?
You may use ADB to tranfer the files
As far as I know there should be an option in TWRP to specify the location.
But on SD CWM recovery it backups everything onto the SD card, why don't you just boot from SD and backup everything?

I experimented and I can access the files directly with the PC. I don't know why it works but I can access files in the root.
1) Use File Manager to create a link /data/media/clockwork in folder /data/media/0
2) Use Root Explorer to copy the created link to the ext_sdcard.
3)Select that link with PC and you can get to /data/media/clockwork and copy files to the pc.
You can also copy files to that folder with Windows Explorer too.
I'm running EMMC rom but I wonder if works on Stock too.

The issue is that CM10.1/CM10.2 uses multi-user setup, hence the 0 folders in the /data/media folder. CWM is not set up for multi-user so does not use the 0 folder. You could use root explorer to MOVE the backup from /data/media/clockworkmod to /data/media/0/clockworkmod. That way it takes no more space on internal memory. Then you can access it on your PC. After copying to the PC, just move it back or delete it if you don't want it on internal memory any more.

Thanks that works.
With the link I made, I don't have to move the backup to /data/media/0 and move it back to copy to pc.
Is the problem specific to CM or do all 4.2.2 or 4.3 roms have this?
If I change recovery to TWRP can I just specify a folder on internal card "/0/TWRP"
?
It should be true for all 4.2/4.3 ROMs. But stock does not use it.
And I don't use TWRP so I don't know if you can specify the locations there. Others said you can.

Lost backup and lost storage!

Yesterday, in order to try new AOKP 4.4.1 by Maclaw, i made a nandroid backup from touch recovery.
Usually after a backup i found it in internal memory/clockworkmod/backup but after a reboot to be sure the backup was ok, i didn't find it.
So a made another backup in external sd card, from nandroid too.
After that, i noticed i've lost a lot of internal storage: it's like the backup was done, but i can't find it.
By Es File Explorer i've serached it but nothing to do.I put hidden file visible, but i can't find the backup.
I deleted all the clockworkmod directory (that wa empty) but nothing to do.
Can someone help me?
Before backup i had 3.5 internal storage free, now i have 1.6 free... :'(
You could try running a nandroid backup to the external SD card. Maybe you can find your nandroid backup there.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk
In the ext-sd everything works, i already tried and there i can find backups in ./clockworkmod/backup
I don't know why in internal storage i can't find them, i looked for them also in root directory / but nothing to do...
I've found the solution.
In recovery, Backup and Restore tab, there's a function to delete backups.
I entered in that function and i have found my old backup, it said that they where in internal storage even i couldn't find them, but in this way i succeed in delete them.
Thanks.
