IMHO the Zoe is a feature not a clone. You can switch it on or off, or u can record a video then edit as you like.

A good question. I like Zoe because its new, its funny, and so on, but there is nothing i can do, or i want to do with pics/vids made by Zoe.

I'm starting to get to grips with it, wasn't so sure to begin with?
I like the while improved concept to exiting just wish that they had invested as much time into the movie editor.

Can Blinkfeed be uninstalled?

I know you can ignore/not use it, but can it be completely uninstalled without rooting etc?

Had a nasty feeling that was going to be answer. Rather like some of the stuff Samsung shoves on their phones & you cannot remove either.
It can't be uninstalled but it can be disabled

Solution: root your phone. Remove.
Just use a different launcher. Only problem is that you won't have access to sense widgets.

Are any of these widgets useful?
Why would you want to get rid of blinkfeed? That things looks so beautiful and way useful. I still don't understand why anybody wants to get rid of it. I think it's great.

I wouldn't go as far as removing/uninstalling Blinkfeed, but I'm curious to what extend this new central piece of Sense can be configured/modified. I just played around with Blinkfeed a couple of minutes in a phone shop. You can configure the sources that are shown on these tiles (like calendar, facebook, twitter, etc) but ...
Can I control how often each tile (is tile the correct word?) is updated? The more frequent the tiles are updated, the more battery is used and more network traffic is generated.
Can I control the placement of the tiles?
Can I control how many tiles are shown? E.g. I would like only a calendar tile and no social network tile or news feed tile.
Regards,
Stefan

Don't add any feed and it won't do anything. Is like it was never there.

It was one of the features I wasn't too keen on but it's turned out to be good for a giggle when I've got nothing else to play with. I scrolled 2 left of my homescreen yesterday to see the headline 'Study warns that sex in space is dangerous.'
I couldn't agree more. For starters the instant you unzip the fly on your suit your dead! Probably not what they were getting at but it was worth a chuckle.

You didn't need to be rooted to remove blinkfeed. Check out Q12 of the HTC One FAQ and you'll see a couple of ways to be able to get rid of it.
The other method, which requires rooting, is to install a custom ROM. I believe some ROMs may still have blinkfeed included though so you'll need to read the first post (at least) of the ROM threads to find out whether it has it or not

It's a nice feature to have, but give us the option to remove/disable it. I hate it when companies force stuff on you.
I see it's there, if I like it I keep it and if I don't I remove it, simple as that. Don't force me to use it.

Contact photos

How do I get rid of the dots? It looks like a mosaic and I dont care for it. I want my regular photos without the effect
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I had to remove the individual contact pictures and replace. That fixed it. I read that the mosaic was supposed to make upscaled pictures look a bit more acceptable.

Yeah that sounds legit. Rather have the effect than horrible tiny upscaled pics
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
If the mosaic dots were smaller, they might be more acceptable, but for me, I'd rather still have the regular ones.

Totally agree with you. For the very least, make it an option. Most of my pics are good enough quality for me to view them without this effect.
Similar to what Sodalitas mentioned, simply re-assign a photo & it will/should look normal.

Can't use same camera effects taking pics as editing pics?

Does this make sense to anyone? There are a few nice filters in the camera app, granted I don't particularly like filters. I just want to experiment with them from time to time. If you edit a pic already taken, you get different effects/filters than you get before taking the pic.
I'd rather apply my filter/effects after taking the pic rather than before. But doesn't seem that's possible. I've already gotten an app for this, so I don't need any suggestions. But kind of bothered HTC chose to do this.

All I got from the OP was I don't like a feature I know I have no control over...useless. Camera and the editing software on Android phones are generally two seperate programs, so yes something (filter, effects, etc.), that the developers choose to leave out of one side of the software is not intertwinable with the omitted functionality of the other program by default. You would need to build or more likely wait fora custom Rom that incorporates the feature you 'prefer' which will probably never happen.

nothing currently available that I know about, would imagine it would be something cyanogenmod might add to focus at some point. Might want to mention it to them as a possible future release idea.

This makes me afraid.
They turned down the Boomsound in 4.2 because people were popping speakers.
Rumor has it that HTC will simply limit the ISO or something to reduce the tint.
If they do, the HTC will have, beyond a shadow of a doubt, gone down the drain.
If they actually fix this, it will truly be the world's (second) best camera phone for low light.
Also, has anybody else noticed the dire lack of basic editing features in the stock gallery app? I installed the 4.3 camera apk, but it's ridiculous.

Whenever you send a pic or upload a pic it gets compressed. Since you are not rooted I'm not sure if you can change the compression threshold

I use a 3rd party text app. The default ONE app compress' the pictures that's why they look like ****. I use Textra. It's simple and easy.

I'm Not on 4.2. When you go to edit, hold down on one of the filters or auto enhance and then drag it over to customize.

I am pretty sick of the low light purple tint. My HTC evo lte never did that in fact I think the camera was better on that phone but I can't do both. One day I will get a high precision camera that has wi do and social interaction features. Anyways a fix or attempted fix is welcomed.
