Case - Tough + Wallet??? - Galaxy Note II Accessories

I really really want a case that will double as a wallet, while offering increased protection. I've killed two phones from breaking the screen and I want to keep my new note 2 pretty.
Does anyone know any cases which will hold credit cards + drivers, and also give increased protection for the phone? Most of the wallet cases I've seen don't do a hell of a lot against droppage.

I apologize, I don't know what my case is called. However I bought it from Harvey Norman, it is leather full cover case and is held together by a elastic band & magnet. I can hold my CC and ID in it, pretty good case but will set you back 90 AUD

My current case is like this, so it gives some protection, but not a lot.
Does your one seem more protective than that?
Cheers

I have learned the hard way to go for maximum protection first, then add what else you need. The best protective case for the Note 2 is the UAG. I use the Black version called Scout. http://www.urbanarmorgear.com/collections/galaxy-note-ii/products/black-note-ii-case The only ting missing for me was a way to "clip it" on my belt. I tried several different clips from other vendors, and ended up breaking the belt clip off the holster. (I even tried the CONVERT® Holster, same problem).. For me , the best solution, ended up getting an inexpensive leather case (2 models, Horizontal & Vertical) with a built-in metal belt clip. These models fit the Note 2 while in the UAG case.

Which one I end up using, depends on where the belt loops are on the pants I am wearing each day.

Yes, less bulky, looks special (different from cheap knock offs), and better protection for the corners.

i too am looking for a wallet, case and holster combo.

Woah, awesome photos, thanks!!
Yeah I might have to give up for the combo - it's crazy. All I ever have wanted since smartphones became a thing was a protective wallet case so I wouldn't have to keep track of different things - I can't believe the market for this is so slim.

Zenus makes a durable wallet case. I've dropped my phone numerous times and nary a scratch. I used them on my note 1 also and never had any problems.

Currently I'm using this one.

It is extremely rigid on the back and corners with thick protruding bumpers and as long as the flap is closed upon impact it offers great protection from drops. High quality leather and molded plastic. Some people complain about the snap cover but I actually use it as a sort of makeshift fly grip, using it to open and close the cover with one hand. All the cutouts are perfect as well. You can go the cover + pouch as others suggested and may get a little extra protection, but for my money I prefer the fact that I no longer need to carry a wallet.

Also as it was mentioned before, Spigen Valentinus is a great wallet case with a buckle to keep it secure.

Im guessing the answer is going to be the defender
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I have the otterbox defender. The only downside for me was the screen protector. Had a gap and would let dust in, so I took it off. Now I have my own protector, but the case seems a little lose. =/

Otterbox defender is the best with iq shield screen protector
Seems like the answer is the defender but it has couple flaws. Rip out that screen protector, trim that power button, and it gets loose. Idk its alot of modifying for an expensive case. Now if we could just find one without these flaws. Seidio rings a bell but the magnet on the kick stand seems to interfere with the spen from what I gather. And if it breaks from a drop your sol. Thats what they told me. Thumbs down

Well the defender is gonna be the most protection cus your comparing cases in different classes. Aegis and urban armor are both 2 in 1 injection molded cases. Much slimmer amd great protection for their size and weight, but not in the same category as the defender

anyone have a drop test / experience with Urban Armor UAG or Trident Aegis ?
I cant understand how people compare Aegis and UAG to Defender? They are in a totally different class. Also I cant understand how people vote for UAG a case that isn't available yet? Dont get me wrong. It looks great and most probably I will order one but it shouldn't be in this poll yet. Adding for example the ballistic would make more sense.
depends on the type of drop you plan on doing.
i had a ballistic hardcore case for my atrix 4g. i accidentally dropped it off a second story balcony without the extra silicone layer. survived with nothing cracked. but i would put that down to luck mostly.
if its only a drop from your hip, any cheapo tpu case will do. if its a drop from head height, then i'd go for the big brands.
i would avoid metal bumper cases though. whilst the rigidity of metal cases means they distribute the force fairly evenly around the case, the weakness is that metals also amplify vibrations which can increase the risk of damaging the internals.
i am confused
what is wrong with power button and screen protector in Otterbox Defender ?

Power button seems to stick because of the amount of material on it reported by some users. And the screen protector...this is what is making me go towards the commuter instead. The screen protector is not close enough to the real screen and there is a gap causing issues when touching the screen especially with pinch to zoom and for the spen. Also the screen protector has a cut out for the home button, which is ok but because of that gap I was talking about the cut out hole turns into a vacuum for dust when you press on the screen it suckings in junk. Not a big deal you would think, but that dust rubbing on the screen can possibly be abrasive and cause scratching over time also annoying. The big issue is usability with the screen protector and it seems like ot causes an issue. Fortunately if you really want the defender and you find the screen protector bothers you, you can push it out as it is held on by glue and can be pretty easily removed. A lot of people seem to do that.

Absolutely, apples and oranges. Not to mention that one of the "oranges" is not released yet. I mean, you can compare those cases for S3 line, but still it would be fare to wait until N2 version is released.
so , i decided to order Otterbox Defender and remove the screen
and use my own anti shock screen protractor
do you think it's wise move or i should wait for Urban Armor UAG or more votes ??
I think its wise. ull get more protection from the defender or commuter but more style with the uag.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
IMHO, wait until UAG is released and available on Amazon (assuming you are in US). Get Defender, Commuter, UAG, Ballistic, etc. at the same time. Play around with it, compare, feel it through, and then make a decision. Since UAG is not available yet, it might take a little bit longer for it to be available on Amazon after release on the their website (usually it goes discounted on Amazon). Again, this is just my humble opinion. Read and educate yourself on-line because you will learn details you wouldn't even pick up by looking at it yourself. Once you read plenty of reviews and watch enough YT videos, get your own hands'on experience and make sure you can return it back if not satisfied. Also, keep in mind, do you really need super-duper protection? Or just need an adequate protection? If you work on a factory floor or a contractor working on the roof, it's not even a choice and Defender is the only way to go. But if you are carrying it in the pocket, and/or want to take it with you when you go out - perhaps a thinner more stylish case is the way to go. Some people have insurance (from Best Buy or Square Trade or from service provider), and these people tend to go ultra slim with extra piece of mind knowing they won't have to pay $700 to replace it. By the same token, if you are paying $10 a month insurance and have $100-$200 deductible - perhaps investing in $50 case instead would be a smarter way to go. You got a lot of options. At the end of the day, make a choice based on your own judgment!!!
I would throw the casemate tough case in this mix. Just got one today and its awesome. I have a ballistic and an aegis and the tough case is whats staying on my phone. Will have pics and review for it tonight hopefully in the other thread I created.

The Otterbox Defender is definitely more rugged and tougher than the Casemate Tough. I wouldn't remove the screen protector on the Otterbox Defender, although the pressure sensitivity of the S-pen is highly questionable.

At that price it is hard to believe it is real leather, but it says it is leather and seems like leather to me and I refuse to cut it just to see. It has a clip that will fit a wide belt and also has 2 loops that you can slide your belt through for more security. Also it fits the Note 2 with either the RND TPU Protective Case or the elago G6 Slim Fit Case on the phone.

Whatever you do stay away from any cases with magnetic clips or a magnetic anything on the case. I got one with a magnet kickstand and it screwed up alot with the spen and screen. It interferes With the magnetic fields that the phone needs to operate properly. I wasted like forty bucks on that case. Straight to the garbage.
You'd be surprised how many cases employ a Magnat somewhere. You arroyos think the manufacturer s would know about the whole magnet plus electronics thing never works out well. Dummies

There is not really any wiggle room from end to end as the edges of the phone in the tpu case touch the ends of the case but it is not really tight and the lid of the case opens enough to get an easy grip on the phone for removal. The phone in the case is 153 x 83 x 11mm. So if you measure your Note 2 in your case and it is the about same size or maybe 2mm larger then you'll know it will fit.

Minimal Case

Hi, I am looking for a minimal case for my Note 2. I tend to go for the soft rubber/plastic combo. Not the completely rubber kind, but the one where it's a bit harder, but not hard plastic either.
As cheap as possible would be nice of course, I am in Canada.
Mercury tpu cases are pretty nice. They hold up pretty well according to how my mom's is on her s3. Around $10 USD and widely available.

this case covers the bottom and top much better than all other slim cases like elago and spigen ultra thin air, but i agree with you...a fully surrounded case with this body would be perfect.
I've got a few tpu cases from Amazon. I even dropped my phone from chest high to the concrete and not really any noticeable marks on the case not to mention nothing happened to my phone. Well except the terrifying fall to the ground lol. Any tpu case should protect your phone just fine imo.

Me included. It only fell a foot, it had a slimline TPU case on it, and now I have a crack across the bottom of the glass.
Don't scrimp on your phone protection, the repair costs are not nice.
I agree about the TPU case protection is not a lot of protection. I just use a Cruzerlite TPU and have had my phone dropped about half a dozen times with no problem thus far. Usually I'm in the processing of catching it which significantly reduces the speed, and thus the impact force when it hits the ground.
Than said, I wasn't expecting Otterbox defender protection either. I was only looking to scratch protection for the few times I may drop the GH2, and some drop protection. I wasn't expect to have dropped my phone so many times thus far. It's possible I haven't had glass issues from having the Just Like Glass screen protector installed. It's supposedly add break resistance to the glass.
I would imagine that a gel case would add a reasonable amount of cushioning protection. Possibly enough to reduce the odds of your glass breaking.
I suppose it's a trade off between safety and usability. I have an Otterbox Defender on my phone now, and though it feels safe, it's also now too damned big to use comfortably.
Maybe this one 0.2mm

Maybe he'll ship to Canadia.
I picked one up for about $20 from the local Sprint store when I got my phone that has a rubber cover and plastic hard case that covers the phone. It even has a stand on the back. There was no product name on it, just the Sprint name so I don't know who actually made it. It's been a very good case for it since I bought it back in November.
I use a seidio surface case. It comes in 2 parts and snaps together in the middle. It has survived one drop from my pocket onto concrete so far. The 2 halves popped apart which I think is by design because it's happened before when I had one on a blackberry. It's expensive though and I'm sure I could have found more economical protection if I had bothered looking.

looking for a slim case with kickstand.

hey there guys I'm looking for a case for my samsung Verizon Galaxy Note 2. looking for one that fits the stock battery as well as one that fits the extended battery.trying to find with a kickstand is proving difficult.I don't want a folio or one that closes like a book I want that had the screen open all the time. also need it to be able to go in and out of my pocket easy without catching, smooth if you will but still has some grip. a tall order I know I've looked quite a bit any help is much appreciated.
The seidio surface looks like the thinnest case with a kickstand but I'm just judging by looking online.
You could look into the flygrip too. I have it and it's actually a lot thinner then I thought it would be. I love it, it makes one handed operation so much easier and it doubles as a kickstand you can use in portrait or landscape. Plus you can attach it to any case.

+1 for the Seidio surface case. Good protection, hardly adds any bulk at all, and it does have a kickstand. I usually use the active cases on my phones, but the note 2 being as big as it is, I didn't want to add that much bulk. So far very happy with the surface case. (And I've dropped it a few times, holds up very well.)
Another vote for the surface. I love the look and feel of mine. The only thing to note is that it may push up your screen protector if you have one. I had to trim mine with an exacto knife before I applied it once the surface was on. Now I'm looking at the vitreo as a new surface protector as that'll fit with the surface as is.
I ordered this case. Will let you know how it is.

I have that exact case too. After a while the kickstand did start to fall out of the case but i found out it was because the tiny (and I mean tiny) bump that they consider a latch had broken off. So I just dabbed a little super glue and it fits just fine.
It does get a little slippery at times, but I like that the kickstand is pretty sturdy on portrait mode. You don't often see a kickstand that is sturdy and doesn't topple the phone when you press on it.

I do not believe slim and kick stand goes hand in hand but again some cases are close to being called slim for sure

Agreed. Before getting the ZL battery, I tried a couple of kickstand cases and the thinner cases have thin kickstands.

hey there guys I'm looking for a case for my samsung Verizon Galaxy Note 2. looking for one that fits the stock battery as well as one that fits the extended battery.trying to find with a kickstand is proving difficult.I don't want a folio or one that closes like a book I want that had the screen open all the time. also need it to be able to go in and out of my pocket easy without catching, smooth if you will but still has some grip. a tall order I know I've looked quite a bit any help is much appreciated.

I purchased the Seidio case with the kickstand. I've used their cases for quite some time simply because they have such a low profile and it's easy to remove the battery. My wife has the Otterbox on her Note II, but only because she doesn't know how to hold on to her device and has already shattered one Note II. The protection you get from the Otterbox is nice, but I really prefer the smaller footprint of the Seidio. Also, the kickstand works terrific.

I have the Sedio Surface case and I liked the kickstand on that a lot, but I did have one gripe. After having to take out my battery a few times I noticed the case didn't stay together very well. Sometimes the case would actually come apart in my pocket when I went to grab it from my pocket. I did find sticking some thin paper between the case and the phone helped with it coming apart often though. If you don't find yourself taking off your case a lot it might be a good case.

[Q] Cases you are using

I am curious to what cases people are using and recommend. I am currently uaing otterbox case I bought when I got my phone and the corners are starting to peel back a bit, so I feel like I need a new case. In my area they don't have much for good protection cases that aren't to expensive.
I'm using the poetic atmosphere case. It has a little lip that lifts the screen off a table when face down, decent grip, and full back coverage. All while being really slim. I had a problem with my first one coming apart, but poetic sent me a brand new case that was "improved". And I don't think they were lying, the new case holds tight to the phone and is staying together nicely. Plus, they are cheap on Amazon.

I've got the Cimo Grip back in frosted clear, and my wife has the amCase with bumper(because it is pink ) I like the Cimo and have heard good things about the Poetics, I will say though that the amCase one doesn't have the power cut out so you cannot use the IR blaster. Altough it is easy to cut out with an exacto knife or the like.

Which otterbox? I am using the commuter and haven't had a single problem.
I use Seidio surface cases on any phone I get. Mainly because they don't add much bulk, offer good protection and come with a belt clip. My phones always look brand new when I sell them a year or 2 later.

That looks like the defender.
This is the one I use http://www.otterbox.com/HTC-One-Com...ne,default,pd.html?start=3&cgid=htc-one-cases
I use the urban armor gear for my daily and the poetic flipbook every now and then.

Seidio Surface with kickstand. Love it
I'm using the body glove case that I got at the sprint store. Its nice and thin.
poetic atmosphere during the weekends and an otterbox commuter or defender during the work week if im out on jobs with my employees.
Just some cheap case for 3.99 from ebay, works well enough that screen does not touch when facing down and as well as the camera. IR blaster works and volumes buttons are easy to press.
I'm using the two tone original HTC case. Sexy as hell. Protects the phone nicely.

I have a commuter, and this happens to all of them, I had 3 different ones for my iPhone and the corners always look like that after a while, specially if you take the phone out of the case too often

I use the cimo s grip and ditztronic tpu , both great cases
I'm using the Incipio Dual Pro and I love it. The only thing is I got the aluminum brushed one, and the back scratches REALLY easily. Oh well.
Thanks all for the feedback. I will look into all these cases and see if any spark my liking. the corners on my case are kinda starting to bug me, I don't know why, but it does.
I just got this case about a week ago. Pretty solid so far.
