Smart Dock: USB Micro-B Male/Female Extension (5pin) - Galaxy Note II Accessories

I got the Smart Dock, but it puts stuff in portrait mode on monitor. I have Ultimate Rotation Control app. But what I want to do is have the device itself on its side. So I can use the touch screen on the Note 2 when I want to. Hard doing that when looking at the device's context (on the Note 2 screen) on its side. I will use both USB mouse and keyboard. But still want to use touch screen from time to time. My Monitor is 1080p, but not touch screen.
I am looking into USB Micro-B Male/Female Extension/adapter (5 pin). I would what is the best cable out there to use. Is the Micro USB on the Smart Dock 5 pin or the MHL 11 pin? if 11 pin should I try to find a MHL Male/Female Extension/adapter? Does should a thing exist? If the micro USB on the Smart Dock is 5 pin, is there a Samsung special micro UBS pin layout? If so then how to get around the pin layout issue?
Basically I want to put the extension into the Smart Dock, put my Note 2 sideways (to work with touch screen on Note 2, w/o creating side neck issues), and plugin the other end of the extension to the Note 2.
Side note: what keyboard and mouse did you use with Smart Dock?

Hi JaguarXT,
I know this post was about a month ago, but I thought I would check in to see if you were able to get this issue resolved. Like you, I am interested in a similar setup as you. I have the smart dock and the galaxy note 2, but I have mine in a Otterbox defender case, and for obvious reasons I have to take my n2 out of the case in order for it to work with the dock. Just wondering if you found some cables/adapters that worked in your setup.
Thanks in advance,
Statustray

Bump,
Do you think this would be what you where looking for?

Yep, definitely what you want.
From the backorder set to September,
Looks like you aren't the only one.

It's 11 pin connector they used. The thing sends 2 way mhl, 2 way otg, 2 channels audio and has ground, sense and power pins too. So no way to have only 5 pins as you can see.

[Q] [q] is there any way to flip the screen?

Hi,
One of the thing I do not like with the i9000 is the stupid fact that the micro-usb connector
is located on the top of the device, basically because my car charger is or too short, or seems to be "almost broken" when dock it to the upper side of the device.
What i want to do is to put the device up-side-down in my car holder, so the connectror
will be at the bottom, but I need a solution that can flip all the apps by 360 degree...
Is that solution available? something that force the change for all the apps? so the home button will be on top of the device?
Thanks,
Tomer
i'm loooking for the same thing, nothing yet
The Tab can rotate 360 degrees, so it should be possible to do on the SGS too. 2.2 should enable it, though I doubt it..

seems like it can be done , bit over my head though.
Would love to see that done to the Galaxy S, because it would make it really easy to build a custom dock (want to have sth. like a long bench for my PSP alongside with the Galaxy S and maybe my Sansa e250, would be made out of Aluminium with the Charging Connectors fixed into place, maybe by buying secondary USB Cable and Charger to make it into one Cable so that the Phone charges everytime but also can with the same Cable be connected to PC, some sort of Hybrid thing.)

Touch Screen broken and micro-usb port broken. How to unlock?

Hi everyone,
I recently drop two times my Sony Z3 Compact on the floor (with a cover, but apparently it was not enough). It fall two times exactly on the same upper-left corner (micro-usb port location).
On first drop, I broke micro-usb port, sd-card port, front-camera (black screen when active), and screen was cracked, but still working.
Then on second drop, I broke back-camera (black screen when active), and the screen is no longer tactile. The smartphone is still functionning, though (I'm receiving notifications, and physical buttons are still working: volumes, camera button, power; and also magnetic port is still working.
It is near to the dead, but I have an important issue. I still need to recover my personal pics which is stored on internal memory. It is very important pics and I'm seeking on all possibilities to recover them, before sending the phone to Sony support (and I believe they cannot recover my pics themselves).
I bought a magnetic adaptater but it seems that it is used for charging only. I tried to plug a microusb OTG with intend to plug a keyboard or a mouse, but without success (since I have the magnetic port working only and microusb port is broken).
Phone is locked with a numeric password, is protected by corporate enforcement rules (if I lose it, they can trigger a factory reset remotely).
Any ideas to find a simple way to fill PIN in it (e.g. with external keyboard, HDMI CEC remote, ?? but I have no idea of what could works with magnetic port) ?
Or a complex way to read internal memory ?

using usb mouse with dex

hi I have rooted my note 8 and have a custom kernel to allow me to use dex with a third party dock. everything seems to work fine I have a usb keyboard plugged in that has no problems what so ever, but the mouse on the other hand is not working.
The actual problem I have is when I plug a usb mouse in the on-screen touchpad turns off, but the mouse cursor disappears from screen and there seems to be no response from any movement or button presses.
i have looked through the settings and can't see anything that would affect it in such a way, I have tried 2 different mice and every usb port.
unfortunately I don't have another rooted device or genuine dex dock to see if either of them makes a difference.
I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice on what to try next.

broken screen, broken digitizer, power on password, no way to recover data?

it took me 2 years to finally break this phone... i dropped it on asphalt, bricks, slate, concrete, wood, and metal, and it turned out to be the cheap tile flooring in the back of the dunkin donuts i work at that destroyed it. the digitizer will not power on and it does not appear to take input from half the screen. im using an iphone 4 (not a 4s) for the time being and that's just fine but what i need is the stuff off of the oneplus. the device is definitely functional behind the digitizer, im not sure if it's worth repairing it or waiting for the 6t or something but i just need to remove the remaining data from the phone so i can put it away and stop thinking about how stupid it is that i dropped it. any ideas?
If it's only the digitizer, get a USB-C male to USB-A Female adapter and plug in a mouse and keyboard. That way you can transfer the data wirelessly to a network location.
or use a USB-hub and plug in a large USB flash drive next to the mouse and keyboard.
that does make sense, though will it work for the power on password? also how would the screen be viewed?

Broken screen (bottom half)

My S10 fell out of my hands the other day and the bottom half of the screen is broken. The top half of the screen is somewhat visible. I'd like to get all the data/pictures off of the phone.
What is the best way to do this? I can't get it unlocked because I have no idea if touch is still working on the bottom half, so I can't really get it into USB Transfer mode. I'd like to avoid going to the local phone fixer.
Thanks for your help.
Maybe you can try to connect it to a USB-C Monitor, some have built in hubs to which you can connect a mouse and then control the phone like that. I know that not everyone has a USB-C Monitor but maybe you can find one at work or something. Hope that helps you.
Greetings
