[Q] HTC ONE 801s (Hong Kong Model) Work In Canada? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey i know the HK model is using LTE 1800/2600, has anybody gotten it to work in Canada? Rogers?
I have had a Sony Xperia Z, same experience with the 2600 band, i had to flash the baseband of the ZL to get LTE working...
Do I have to do the same with the HTC One or has somebody gotten it to work without doing anything?

would like to know also
but Rogers LTE max now uses 2600 band, so would that mean it will work with this without doing anything ??

In theory it'll connect where 2600 is available.

NOPE!
I had a Xperia Z which also has 2600 band, but it did not work even after Rogers deployment of 2600...
The solution was flashing the ZL baseband which is made for North America and somehow the LTE works after...
Just wondering if its the same situation here for the HTC ONE

Sony is different from HTC.

So I bought the HTC one from Hong Kong (the 801s) over here in Toronto Canada
And it does work with the lte max I assume, although it shows 4G on top, it does experience faster speed then my iPhone 5 side by side
it does cut off a lot though

Can you elaborate on the issue of it cutting out? Is it usually when you're inside? Also are you located in the downtown core or the suburbs? Thanks!

Is not really an issue, but it bounces back to 3g/ hspa quite often
I guess since the 2600's coverage is not as good as normal lte

But does it happen while you're inside or also when outside, cuz the 2600 doesn't penetrate walls as well. Also are you downtown?

vivid in australia

I just sold my HTC inspire to get a vivid..
In Australia our 3g is 850 MHz and LTE is 1800 MHz...
If I buy an att vivid, will I be able to access these frequencies? My current phone is the att inspire.
There is a leaked pic of an Australian vivid on my carrier... Can anyone tell if its the same model as att one??
I don't wanna buy the wrong model....
Here is the pic..
http://m.cnet.com.au/htc-holiday-to-be-first-telstra-4g-smartphone-339323146.htm?redir=1
You will get the 3g speed but not LTE. AT&T LTE is 700MHz and the Vivid radio only supports the 700Mhz frequency.
Really? What are the numbers shown in these specs?
http://mobiles.maxabout.com/att/htc-vivid
It says 1800 MHz?
Is.there a model which will work in my area?

I've read that my carrier uses 1800 MHz frequency.. but also seen 1700 figure used....
My carrier is telstra in Australia.

Can someone confirm to me that when they speak of lte for usb dongles, it also applies to mobile phones?
I ask because telstra has just released 4g lte for usb wireless but we dont have any lte phones available yet...
Which is why I wanna get one from america.....

Don't bother getting one from here; looks like Telstra uses a very unique LTE band. 1800 means 1800, not 1700, so the Bell Raider won't work. Just wait for it when it comes out. The leaked ROM notes that it's to be called the "Velocity 4G", so keep an eye out for it instead of trying to fish on the international market.
LTE for USB dongles is using the same LTE as the mobile phones. It's on its way. It was like that on Verizon too, with the dongles first, then the rollout of phones.
@Pirate: Has HTC released an unbranded Raider? I didn't even know that existed already.

Xperia Z not coming to Canada

Confirmed by Sony Mobile CA.
I will be most likely importing the Z from the states.
Any other Canadian users on here?
If I decide to get it, I will import from the country where the GSM bands match and some of the LTE bands match, if that country exists. I believe the US uses completely different LTE bands than Canada, not positive on that yet though.
I think there's two models. One with lte and the other hspa+. Pretty the hspa+ will work for us Canadians not sure about the lte model...

I guess you don't want the ZL?
As crookx said the LTE model might not work with our network bands. The HSPA version will be fine, but when offered LTE who would choose HSPA?
I think Sony should've just made a third North American model of the Z with the NA bands instead of making the ZL.

Yeah, it's pretty BS considering how much it rains here in Vancouver.
I'm actually glad Canada is getting the ZL. I don't like annoying flaps over my ports, wetness isn't an issue for me. And the compactness is just a great thing these days when Android phones seem to be getting bigger and bigger, which I'm not a fan of.
Sucks that everyone can't get what they want, but I'm grateful to get what I preferred

The Glass housing is not brittle.
Did you see the testing videos on youtube? The material is just as strong as any other phone.
Anyway ZL is not the flagship model.
I just wished they gave the option for both here.

One drop on a not-concrete floor ... Looking at the OptimusG//Nexus4 reports of disasters I can only fear for the glass back to be a problem.
im hoping for ZL too.
i dont need waterproof and ZL seems to have smaller bezel. as long as it has the same CPU and RAM as Z, then ZL would be perfect.

the question is whether the 3G band will work with 03. Im not so sure if you could just skip the 3G band and get LTE to work.
rogers uses 850 and 1900 for 3g band
I read somewhere that voice calls and other minor stuff uses 3g band of 850 and/or 1900.
All the phones ive used contains both. So i dont know will it work with ONLY 850 on the device.
and someone pointed out that specific areas in canada uses 850 and some uses 1900. So the problem is that if you go out of the 850 area, phone will not work?
I dont know how all these bands work. I guess someone need to purchase it and try it to see if LTE of 03 actually works here in canada.
There must be a reason why sony decided Canada not to have the Z and have the ZL instead. I want the phone as much as you do, but its pretty pointless to pay $700+ on a phone that doesnt even have LTE in my IMO.
If the Z comes to Canada (or one from a US carrier will work 100% here) I will be getting it in white for sure..that is one sexy phone. If LTE doesnt work here than no point, putting up with slow H+ speeds on a $700 phone is not for me.
IMO the ZL is just plain ugly, which is unfortunate as it also has killer specs.
Only time will tell but I think Sony are missing the boat if they dont release the Z here...on the other hand it will save me some money..I wont have to buy the GS4 AND the sony lol.
Bell is getting the C6506 (ZL) with LTE.
i found this.
In Canada, GSM-1900 is the primary band used in urban areas with 850 as a backup, and GSM-850 being the primary rural band.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSM_frequency_bands
Click to collapse
so assuming this applies to 3g/hspa as well and also assume it does work with the "backup" 850, you will probably get really crappy signal with the phone due to the fact that the cities we live in are all urban areas. :l
thats just the info i got i could be wrong. lets hope im wrong.
The 6503 will not be released in Canada, no provider is going to sell a phone that won't work on their primary bands. Especially when there is a variant that already supports them.

1.) the LTE Frequencies vary from country to country...
From HTC:
EU: 800/1800/2600 MHz
US (AT&T): 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
US (TMO): 700/AWS MHz
US (Sprint): 1900 MHz
Asia: 1800/2600 Mhz

Now comes the great news.. as far as I know Rogers uses 2600 MHz . so EU Version from the UK WILL work!
99% confident
EDIT:
Maybe this Thread can be moved to Q/A
Rogers should have the phone next Friday....given that is when the pre-order offer ends
the one that available now, only has one band that matches rogers LTE band :2600
as far as i know and read from XperiaZ forum, (c6603 XperiaZ has almost same LTE band as ONE)
no one are able to get LTE.
if you need LTE. get it from your provider.

Hi I'm in SF under tmobile the c6903 works very well under Lte too! If I'm not wrong the 06 is better for at&t Lte but if u check in the other thread there is more than one guy using it on at&t without any issue except less Lte signal.

c6903 will give you LTE speeds on T-mobile since it supports band 4 (1700mhz) for T-mobile's LTE ,if you go for c6906 you will get band 17 (700mhz) which is used by AT&T for their LTE, along with band 4 (1700mhz) so c6906 seems a better choice if you decide to swap t-mobile and at&t sim cards, also some users have been lucky to get get LTE by using at&t sim card on their c6903 model cause apparently at&t is starting to expand or at rare times uses 1700mhz spectrum for their LTE but i wouldn't bet much on it,700mhz is their prime spectrum for LTE.Hope this helps

C5302 and C5303 (LTE) are definitely compatible with Aussie network bands, but the C5306 is for US network bands. I don't think that you can change the frequency bands, I think that it is a hardware thing.
Ah dang. Guess I gotta some how get rid of the phone to someone in the US since the C5306 does not accept the 4G LTE bands here in Australia. Thanks for the help.
