It sounds like only a matter of time before weather.com discovers weatherpanel's xml feed ID and blocks it from downloading updates...
The good part is that the feed weatherpanel uses is specified by the validity check on the server... but this is still going to cause a lot of headaches.
Thought you guys should be made aware of this.
I'll comment more on this later, but it's late, and I'm tired.
P.S. I think this is a shady under-handed tactic on weather.com's part. The quality of their service and programs has always been questionable and this just further solidifies those feelings of negativity towards weather.com (the weather channel) as a company as a whole.
PS can we get black text so that those of us with horrible eyes can actualy see what's going down?

Thanks for the color translation
Thanks for transposing to black. Sorry for the color. I would have done it myself, but I forgot to set up email notifications of postings to this thread. Thanks for jumping in.
How has their service been questionable? Every time I go to weather.com I get exactly what I need.

About MindPush
MindPush, the latest innovation from JimmyGood Technology, creators of the leading online text message management portal CiiAll, is like nothing else on the market. As products such as Facebook and LinkedIn increasingly focus on contact between people who know each other, we realize that you want something more. With MindPush, you can:
- Connect with other MindPush users in your location, anonymously
- Share information as easily as sending a text, while limiting what others can see
- Interact with “like”, comments and other collaborative features
- Get the information you need about the places you like best, instantly
- Give users at your company or school the chance to communicate more effectively
- Learn more about your location via brief, digestible messages
How it works and what we need from YOU!
MindPush is a location based application – so you can see messages that have been posted within 1/2 mile of your current location at any given time. Users are able to leave anonymous messages, so other users can view and interact with them once they are in the same location. This interaction can happen in real-time, but users can also see past messages in their location up to 30 days. If another user is active within the 1/2 mile range, they will be shown on the user icon and Proximity map. This is to encourage users to post new messages and interact with not only their given material environment, but the people in that environment as well.
We need YOU to start leaving your anonymous messages and feedback everywhere you go! Imagine a future where you can go into any restaurant, bar, clothing store, sports venue, coffee shop, etc. and instantly get useful information from your peers using MindPush. Also imagine the power from being able to anonymously leave your feedback everywhere you go for other users to benefit from. MindPush can and will change the way we interact with our immediate surroundings…and with each other! Start leaving messages and connecting with the world around you today!

Feedback?
Has anyone tried this out yet? I would love to receive some feedback from the XDA community!
Thanks!
I tried it.. Good idea. Drains battery though im im gonna keep it and use it to see what its like. Does it only work in my area or can i use it to communicate with people outside of my city/state?
As of right now - you can only view messages and other users that are within 150 feet of your current location (we have/are considering making the range wider though...depends on initial download numbers and feedback). The messages will change depending on where you are located and what other users have posted in the area.
As for the battery drain - we realized that having your GPS location set while the app is running - and having the app call our servers to update the location of other users and various messages could be an issue for some as far as battery goes. Once you've logged into the app, press the menu button to access the battery drain slider. From there you can set the time interval for how often the app will call the server for updates which should help improve battery drain based on your preferences.
Thanks for the feedback and support! Please let me know if you have any other questions or suggestions. I really want this to be an app for the people and am more than willing to listen to how people are using the app and what could make it better! The iOS version was completed today and will be submitted to Apple for approval. Once that is done, you will be able to communicate cross platform and the numbers of users in each area should improve as the user base grows.
Update coming soon
We will be releasing an update soon to widen the range to 1/2 mile. Users will be able to view other messages up to 1/2 mile and see how many users are within 1/2 mile as well. This should really increase interaction between users and provide more information about cool things going on in your area! Let me know what you think.
Thanks

1. THE CONSUMER INFORMATION THE SMART PROJECTS COLLECTS FOR THE SERVICES
When Consumers use The Smart Projects applications or engage with our Customers (e.g., by using their mobile applications or viewing an ad provided by our Customers, or by using an app that has integrated our software development kit (“SDK”)), we may collect or receive Device Data that may (but does not necessarily) include the following:
Information you provide when you download and use some of our applications.
Precise geolocation data pertaining to Consumers’ devices, which may be expressed by latitude-longitude coordinates obtained through GPS tools, WiFi data, cell tower triangulation or other techniques (collectively, “Device Geolocation Data”) and linked to a device identifier, such as the IDFA for iOS devices or Android ID for Android devices;
Predicted or actual data about a Consumer such as age, gender, date of birth, street address; predicted or actual characteristics or interests; and any information that Consumers provide to The Smart Projects or to The Smart Projects’ Customers;
Other information about a Consumer’s device, such as: device type (e.g., tablet, smartphone), operating system, IP address, network provider, mobile carrier, mobile browser type (e.g., Firefox, Chrome, Safari), other apps and SDKs installed on the device, timestamp, time zone, information about the speed, bearing, orientation, and altitude of a device, or other device-identifying information;
Information about the possible relationships among different devices; and/or
Data about Consumer activities that helps The Smart Projects determine how a Consumer interacts with advertising or content, such as determining whether a Consumer who viewed a particular advertisement ultimately purchased the advertised product or service.
The Device Data that The Smart Projects receives from its Customers or from Consumers may be combined with additional information The Smart Projects collects or receives from third-party sources. For example, The Smart Projects may have information about consumer products, events held at specific locations, street addresses, and categories of geographic locations. While such information is associated with a specific device, it is treated as Device Data.
Please see Section 5 below for a description of the information that The Smart Projects collects through its Site and in connection with The Smart Projects accounts.
2. HOW THE SMART PROJECTS USES DEVICE DATA TO PROVIDE THE SERVICES
The Smart Projects generally uses the Device Data it collects or receives for the following purposes:
to operate, maintain, enhance, and provide the Services described below; and
to improve and market the Services, and to create new features and functionality.
The Smart Projects’ Services help application developers, publishers, advertisers, marketers, and other companies and organizations learn more about Consumers based on Device Data including Device Geolocation and Application Data. For example, the Services help Customers:
provide more relevant content or advertising to Consumers over time and across multiple devices;
identify other Consumers that may be interested in their offerings;
measure the performance of Customers’ content, services, and advertising (for instance, what effect certain ads, as opposed to other ads, have), or trends or preferences among Consumers (for instance, what types of Consumers generally tend to shop at certain stores); or
learn about how Customers’ apps can perform better.
The Smart Projects may also work with third parties, such as brands, advertising agencies, media platforms and publishers (such as app developers), and other advertising platforms to improve their own services. The above list is not exhaustive, but it is intended to provide illustrative examples of how The Smart Projects uses the Device Data it collects and receives. The Smart Projects may retain the Device Data:
for interest-based advertising, ad delivery, and reporting purposes for approximately 24 months;
for other business purposes (such as technical developments) for such period as The Smart Projects considers reasonably necessary. After this The Smart Projects will delete or de-identify the Device Data.
The Smart Projects may retain Device Data beyond these time periods as required by law.
3. HOW THE SMART PROJECTS DISCLOSES INFORMATION THROUGH THE SERVICES
As part of the Services, The Smart Projects may provide Device Data and information derived from Device Data to Customers and other third parties. The use of Device Data by The Smart Projects’ Customers and other third parties is not covered by this Privacy Policy. Some of these Customers and other third parties may use cookies or web beacons (pixels) in order to send targeted ads to Consumers, engage with Consumers, or otherwise locate Consumers. For more information about cookies and web beacons (pixels), please review the relevant parts of Section 5.
In addition:
The Smart Projects may disclose Device Data if it believes that such action is necessary to comply with applicable laws or regulatory investigations, or to respond to a court order, judicial or other government subpoena, warrant, or law enforcement request.
The Smart Projects may also disclose Device Data if it believes it will help to protect The Smart Projects, its Customers, or any other person or third party, or to enforce any legal rights.
In the event that The Smart Projects is acquired by or merged with a third-party entity or is potentially going to be acquired by or merged with a third-party entity, in any partial or total sale of assets including in the event of bankruptcy, or in any other corporate change, The Smart Projects may transfer or assign the Device Data as part of that actual or potential merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control.
The Smart Projects may share Device Data with its affiliates and joint venture partners.
The Smart Projects may share Device Data with service providers that help it operate the Services.
Please see Section 5 below for a description of how The Smart Projects may disclose information collected from this Site and/or The Smart Projects accounts.
4. CONSUMER CHOICES AND HOW TO OPT OUT OF INTEREST-BASED ADVERTISING
Opting Out of Interest-Based Advertising Services by The Smart Projects
The Smart Projects adheres to the NAI Codes of Conduct as described on the NAI website. The Smart Projects also adheres to the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) Self-Regulatory Principles. For a description of the DAA Program, please visit the DAA website. As described above, The Smart Projects may use or transfer Device Data that it directly collects or that it receives from The Smart Projects’ Customers, who may use cookies or non-cookie technologies, to enable advertising that is more tailored to Consumers’ inferred interests, preferences, and locations. This practice is known as interest-based advertising. The Smart Projects may also collect, use or transfer Device Data collected from one device for interest-based advertising on other devices that may be linked to the device where data was collected. This is known as cross-device linking.
The Smart Projects, and some of The Smart Projects’ Customers, provide the ability for Consumers to opt out of the collection and use of mobile app data across apps over time on a device, for interest-based advertising purposes, through the DAA’s AppChoices tool. To opt out of The Smart Projects’ collection, use, and transfer of such app usage data and of Device Geolocation Data, for interest-based advertising purposes, Consumers can download AppChoices onto the relevant mobile device and exercise choice through the app. When such choice is exercised on a device, The Smart Projects will also stop using and transferring Device Data from that device for interest-based advertising on other linked devices, and will stop using Device Data from other linked devices for interest-based advertising on the device from which choice was exercised. AppChoices is available at the links below:
DAA AppChoices iOS
DAA AppChoices Android
DAA AppChoices Amazon
Please note that Consumers who use more than one mobile device should renew their opt-out choices on each device. Consumers who opt out from use of their Device Data as part of The Smart Projects’ Services may continue to receive interest-based advertising from other companies.
This will opt you out of many –but not all- of the interest-based advertising activities in which The Smart Projects or its third party partners engage. Opting out via AppChoices will opt the User out of all The Smart Projects Targeting Segments that are created immediately and any subsequent Segment distributions. However, there will be a lag for the User’s ID to be removed from previously distributed Targeting Segments that are already active at the time when the opt-out is exercised.
If a User wants to end all targeting immediately, s/he can turn on “Limit Ad Tracking” in his/her device settings. To limit Ad Track on an Apple device, see instructions at: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202074.
To limit Ad Tracking on an Android device, see instructions at: https://support.google.com/ads/answer/2662922.
Please note, however, that opting-out will not block general advertisements that are sent at random, and not tied to the perceived interest of the User of a particular device.
Consumers who have downloaded The Smart Projects’ applications, but who no longer wish to provide information to The Smart Projects for interest-based advertising purposes, should opt out through AppChoices as described above.
Opting Out of Interest-Based Advertising by Third Parties on the The Smart Projects Site
The Smart Projects may permit third parties to collect information on its Site and combine that information with other information collected on non-affiliated websites or applications over time. These third parties may use technologies, including cookies and web beacons, to collect information about Consumers’ or Customers’ use of the Site in order to analyze, report on, or customize content or advertising on the The Smart Projects Site or on other sites, or to help us operate and improve the Site. To find out more about interest-based advertising in the web environment, and how to opt-out of information collection for this purpose by companies that participate in the Network Advertising Initiative or the Digital Advertising Alliance, visit NAI’s opt-out page or DAA’s Consumer Choice Page. EEA and Swiss residents, please refer to www.youronlinechoices.com.
Opting Out of Interest-Based Advertising on Websites by The Smart Projects Customers

Because it doesn't delete files, but only unused folders. Trust me that this application never deletes some useful file or folder.

Offering non-exclusive distribution deals outside Playstore (paying flat-fee)

Hi there,
I am representing a European mobile publisher and we are currently searching for Android Apps, we could license non-exclusively for our own distribution channels.
We are typically paying a one-time flat-fee and we just need the rights for our own channels. So you could continue publishing your Apps on Google Play and any other App store by yourself.
Currently we are especially looking for the following type of Apps:
- Battery Optimization tool
- Motion detectors/alarms
- Fingerprint lock screens
- Walk and Text (App which makes the screen transparent by using the camera and you can continue typing e.g. messages or surfing on websites).
Besides we are also always open to any other good quality App.
If you are interested, please send me a PM.
Thx and cheers!

Do text apps capture keywords within a user's personal texts?

What extent, if any, do mobile phone text apps capture the keywords of its user's texts to send to ad networks in order to monetize it's apps?
I was reading the source code of the MOPUB ad network, and the source code stated:
"You can pass keywords from your app to MoPub as a comma-separated list in the ad view. They should be in the format of key value pairs (e.g. m_age:24). You can use any characters except for "&" and "=".
MPAdView *adView
= [[MPAdView alloc] initWithAdUnitId"AD_UNIT_ID" size:MOPUB_BANNER_SIZE];
adView.delegate = self;
adView.keywords = @"m_age:24,m_gender:m,m_marital:single";
[adView loadAd];
https://github.com/mopub/mopub-ios-sdk/wiki/Data-Passing"
So now I'm confused. We all know there are tons of text apps on apple/android, free and paid. I need to learn how these apps are able to make money for their company by reading the user's texts. My interest is the following:
1) Do apps read their user's texts to obtain data to send to MOPUB?
It appears from the code above that it is saying that when the text app users are texting their friends that words in the text that match the MOPUB's list of keywords is intercepted in real time, recorded, ie your age/gender, and then those keywords are sent to MOPUB to send advertising back to match those keywords. Am I reading the source code correctly? Is this happening on all text apps with the MOPUB source code?
2) Has anyone run any tests to capture this activity in real time so I can see how it is done.? I would appreciate any info on any work in this area.
Thanks,
media678
1) Extremely unlikely. It's far too complicated to interpret the context of a word like "24" or "male" or "single" on the fly on-device. Is that text referring to the sender, to their romantic expectations, to their current partner, or to their brother they're trying to get a date for? Or even to parts of a shopping list? Language is very complex, and an app that attempted to include that functionality, even poorly, would have 100x as much code trying to interpret keywords than they would have for the initial purpose of the app itself. It would use so much processing power that the app would run terribly and everyone would soon abandon that app. It's absolutely not economical.
It could possibly be done by sending a copy of every text to the developers server and doing the work there, but the cost of that kind of equipment would far exceed the revenue from showing the ads in the app. And after all the NSA media scandal, what company would be dumb enough to secretly intercept and store private texts? Sooner or later someone would notice, and the company would be in unbelievable legal trouble. It's not nearly worth the risk.
It's much more likely that the app generates basic keyword data with much simpler methods (such as asking you directly) or has a fixed list of generic keywords that's selected during development that they use to request ads. You're not reading the source code correctly. The ad service allows developers to request targeted ads via any method they choose, and does not imply that those methods must, or even can, include any hidden, on the fly, language-based data-gathering system.
There are probably no companies out there that are making any profit (or accomplishing anything else) by secretly reading users' texts.
2) Based on the above answer, there's nothing to capture. Google and Apple and Microsoft certainly do something similar with web usage, but they approach it very cautiously, protect it very carefully (even from themselves, in some senses), and guard the methods jealously. No one who can do it successfully is going to tell you how they do it.
If you really must know, you'll have to learn to decompile and reverse-engineer software, which is a slow and frustrating process and approaches illegal activity. You'll have to dig deeply into dozens or hundreds of text apps. And there's probably nothing there for you to find in the first place.
3) This doesn't have anything to do with Xposed Framework, and doesn't belong in this forum.
Also, your intentions appear to be either paranoid or invasive, and you seem to have some kind of obsession with the phrase "real time". You might want to take a step back and analyze your mindset here.
Text app capturing keywords dynamically
Sorry if I posted in the wrong location, I'm new here. I thought I was making a new thread in a general area.
As for a reply, its not an issue if it can be done, it's an issue how to do it properly. Integrate the MoPub SDK into your app.
Passing Keywords
Keywords allow you to target certain ad requests with user data. This feature is often used to differentiate a specific user demographic or users on different app versions.
You can pass keywords from your app to MoPub as a comma-separated list in the ad view. They should be in the format of key value pairs (e.g. m_age:24). You can use any characters except for “&” and “=”. Spaces are allowed, and special characters are discouraged.
MPAdView *adView
= [[MPAdView alloc] initWithAdUnitId"AD_UNIT_ID" size:MOPUB_BANNER_SIZE];
adView.delegate = self;
adView.keywords = @"m_age:24,m_gender:m,m_marital:single";
[adView loadAd];
MoPub recommends that the publishers use the standard keywords listed below for passing gender and age data. Applying this standard for passing first party data will result in targeted ads from the MoPub Marketplace and certain ad networks. Publishers who pass age and gender to Marketplace see an average lift of 20% in eCPMs.
For gender you would pass:
Example: m_gender:m for male or m_gender:f for female
For age you would pass:
Example: m_age:25
Using the same key value pairs, target campaigns using the keyword targeting function in the “Advanced Targeting” dropdown when managing campaigns on the MoPub Dashboard.
To target multiple keywords, use AND. If you want to use the OR clause, separate the keywords by a new line. To explicitly not target a property, put a “-” in front of the keyword.
Example: m_gender:m AND m_age:25
Example: m_gender:m
m_age:25
Negative Targeting: -m_age:25
To target a set of values for one keyword you need to explicitly pass each value with the keyword individually.
Example: fruit:apple AND fruit:banana AND fruitrange.
NOTE: This will only match line items which are targeting all three values (apple, banana, orange).
To negatively target a set of values for one keyword you’ll need to use the AND clause. For example to exclude a line item from being served when the ad requests contains the keyword fruit with the values set to apple, bananas, or oranges you would use the below express:
-fruit:apple AND -fruit:banana AND -fruitranges
Note: For native ads, you can pass in keywords using the MPNativeAdRequestTargeting class. See the Native Ads Integration guide.
PS: An app using software to capture real-time streaming wire data is a common reference, dynamic capture better?
