nexus 10 NON magnetic case (and or with usb keybaord)? - Nexus 10 Accessories

has anyone found (or have a link to) a nexus 10 case that does not have any magnets on it? maybe a case with a strap to keep it closed?
also, how about a usb keyboard case for the nexus 10 that doesn't have any magnets on the case either?
from what i've seen from countless searching, all of them have magnets for closure and for the auto sleep/wake function.

anyone?

Here's something to get you started
http://shop.portenzo.com/nexus-10/
They are known for their amazing iPad cases. So I am sure that carries over to their N10 cases as well
Another. They are very high end and quality is top notch
http://www.noreve.com/langue/en/product/Samsung_Google_Nexus_10_Tradition_leather_case.html?ref=80
If you would like sleeves,
http://www.sfbags.com/products/tablet-cases/nexus-cases.php
Again, EXTREMELY popular with the iPad crowd. Their sleeves are the best you can get
The first two have the Sleep/ Wake feature even though they are not closed with magnets.

thanks for the links. but i just need a case without any magnets at all

Since portenzo makes every single order by hand, why not try asking them if they can exclude the magnets? Same with Noreve

Sorry, but I must ask: why do you not want the magnets??? I can't think of a single reason why you wouldn't want them. Unless you have a specific use case, of course. My curiosity has been piqued!

A round magnet within 6 inches of a internal defibrillator (ICD) which are always implanted in the abdominal cavity, will inhibit the device from delivering life saving shocks to the heart. In some cases, a magnet can completely turn off the device. Imagine having an ICD, using your tablet in bed, and falling asleep with the tablet on your belly. It is entirely possible that you will never wake up if it is an iPad 2 (they have round magnets for connecting to the iPad smart case) or you have a case containing magnets.
Just remember, Apple kills. GO ANDROID!!!

No, the N10 has a magnetic reed switch (affected BY a magnet, but not itself magnetic) while iPads have actual magnets inside for their smart covers to attach without the physical clips AS WELL as the magnetic reed switch

Ah yes! I completely forgot about the magnets on the back! But then again, anyone who has an ICD implant shouldnt be keeping ANYTHING electric/electronic close to him/her.

Yeah, but with blackberries that uses a magnet to turn on/off its display when put into a case, wonder if the magnet in the clip is strong enough to do any damage.
Good example. Even palm uses magnetic induction for touchstone. Maybe those phones are built with magnets in mind. Not really sure if Nexus is built that way.
LONG TERM I'd wonder about the compass.. temporary close proximity with a reasonably powerful magnet I'd think is okay, but constant close proximity I'd be afraid would polarize it incorrectly.
But just to make sure, where is this money clip, and where is the phone? Surely not in the same pocket? If so, that's the number one problem in your question here.. I wouldn't put the N1 in a pocket unless it was EMPTY, even at that you're more likely to get lint in bad places. Get a belt case, horizontal or vertical.

Nexus 7 has a smart cover sensor.

Just saw this on Engadget
Seems like it has a smart cover sensor. Looks like we might get a ipad style cover in the future

Note that Apple has a patent on the smart cover.
You might have to add your own magnet and hope Apple does not find out.

You cannot patent "Magnet unlocks screen". That is far too board. It would need to be a specific exact way of doing so.
If they are allowed that, then I am allowed to patent phone chargers.

I don't know. In my opinion that is a good hardware idea and should be patented, with more specifics rather than just stating a magnet.
But if what the person above says is true about blackberry doing it first then no they shouldn't be able to patent it.

Not if they put the magnet on the side near the hing. This could also get around apples patent issue. Once the covers open the the magnet would still be far enough away not to effect it. It would still work the same.

They dont actually, not in the manner in which you suggest at least. As far as patents go, and especially Apple patents their patent in regards to the smart cover is not at all broad and doesn't attempt to cover the entire smart cover like you say as if to suggest anything that covers the screen with a material and comes in various infringes on it, and if you throw in a magnet than you are really pushing it. Not at all, first and most obvious the tech. has been around, blackberry used it before apple in their cases to sleep the phone and display instantly upon sliding it into their cases and laptops long before that used magnets when closing to sleep/hibernate and just powersave the screen. Apples patent in RE: Smart covers is only for magnets to the degree they are used in the smart cover to attatch the cover to the device quickly and easily and have it automatically align and snap in and also allowing the the cover to be easily removed with ha certain amount of force but stay attatched and secured. Anyway point being there is no way even Apple would attempt to say they have this patented. I feel like theyve got enough crazy stuff patented to not need to throw ones in that they actually dont have. here is the details of their actual smart cover patent. http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/20/apple-snags-a-patent-for-the-smart-covers-magnetic-know-how/
The N7 is said to have a Hall effect sensor, so it should support 'smart covers'.

Ask me about my DODOcase

Well, got my DODOcase in the mail today. It won't shield your Nexus 7 from large amounts of physical abuse, but I got it so I can put my tablet down without having to worry about scratching it up. There is indeed a magnet embedded in it to turn the tablet on when you open it, off when you close it.
I would post a picture, but I am not allowed by the forum software.

That seemed like it devolved into a patent argument. I will answer questions there too though.
Question: if you flip the cover all the way back, does the magnet turn off the screen? Thanks.
How does it fell when holding it? As in, with the cover folded back does the thick side feel strange? Do you trust the adhesive? How thin is it when closed? How well does the stand work on a normal desk surface?
Thanks!

I am assuming you mean setting it on its side in land-scape mode? That is the one thing that is a little weird. From what I see on the site, you basically but the elastic band underneath the opposite end. It keeps it up-right, but there is not much room for adjustment. I don't use tablets in that way very often though.

I should clarify that that actually works well for me.
I just got one of these DODOcases and I'm really impressed with it. The adhesive is surprisingly strong, once you have the Nexus 7 in place it does not budge a millimeter. I'm very partial to the low profile that this case offers. The 'smart cover' functionality works just as expected. It's not going to give you an Otterbox level of protection, but it should be enough do the job in preventing damage if you were to accidentially drop it in a normal day-to-day situation.
It's not quite as comfortable to hold with the case as it is without, particularly in landscape mode. That's to be expected since I feel that one of the real strengths of the Nexus 7 was how comfortable it is to hold, and with any case you're likely to give up a little bit of that. It feels like you're holding a small hardback book, and that's not an unpleasant feeling. The adhesive is so strong that I might be more hesitant to remove the Nexus from the case as often as I might with a different case, but that might be a good thing. The only other drawback to the case is that the stand functionality that the case offers is pretty limited, and as a result it doesn't support very good viewing angles for landscape mode viewing on a desk or table top. If they marketed a stand to go along with the case they could probably do some business.
The aesthetic touches do have a nice emotional resonance for me, it really does add a classic 'reading a book" feeling to using the Nexus.
All in all I'd give it a 9/10

I don't use facebook lol oh well. going with treegloo
I picked up a Dodo hardcase for my N7 yesterday straight at the HQ. It's pretty awesome all around.
Adhesive is strong and as was said previously, the device doesn't move a mm. That said, the power and volume buttons are awkwardly positioned because they are slightly set back from the edge of the tablet so you need to sort of wedge your finger under (not far) to push them. The landscape stand works pretty well using the elastic band and clips but the angle is not adjustable. Folded back the device feels good in the hand and the magnet doesn't affect the device improperly when in the fully open position behind the tablet.
The look and feel of the case are very high quality and I love that it's made start to finish here in SF. I got a little tour of the factory, which is probably smaller than you imagine given the brand presence and there were some cases being assembled while I was in there. Everyone that I spoke with was super nice and you know this is a company that believes in their product and would stand behind it. It seems that they've come up with a great, innovative repurposing of bookbinding machinery.

You prompted me to attempt to remove it for the first time. The answer is no residue whatsoever. However, that adhesive is really really strong. I unclipped the back panel from the screen on accident while pulling it up. No harm done it just pressed back together.

[Q] Nexus6 Wallet

Hello,
When I buy a Wallet Case for my Nexus6, do I have to consider buying a wallet with an opening on the Wireless Charging point (The M Symbol) ? Like this one.
Will the Wireless Charging work if there is no opening ?
This one doesn't have that opening.
Please suggest.
Thanks.
The center of the coil is about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom, so in a way it is exactly opposite the dimple.
I use a Ringke SLIM which is solid on the back and have no issues with Qi charging, other than the need to skew the phone bit high on the charger to center up the coils.
If it'll charge through a Ballistic Tough Jacket Maxx (and it does...), then you have nothing to worry about.
Hurry up and HIDE the ugly M logo.
Hello,
I need a Nexus6 Wallet with cut-offs for camera, power & volume buttons, 2 speakers, charger & audio ports, Moto Logo (not necessary). Do you know any Wallets that meets these requirements ? For most wallets, the cut-off for power & volume buttons won't be there. There will be buttons instead.
What about the Magnet Flap like this ?
Will it be dangerous for the data ?
Thanks.

It shouldn't be able to harm your data in any way. The storage isn't magnetic these days. It might harm any credit cards you put in it though if you put them in the wrong way. Spigen even includes a note about that telling you which way the magnetic strip should go.
Looks like a good wallet case to be honest. The first one I've seen with a magnetic closure as well as cutouts for both speakers. Kind of want one myself now.

Hello,
I have a question regarding this kind of Wallet. I am very doubtful, whether the Power & Volume Buttons on the case will damage the actual Power & Volume Buttons on the phone. I feel that it would be safer if I could press those buttons on the phone with my finger, as the buttons on the Wallet Case may be in a wrong position. What is your opinion about this ? I've been using this case for 2 months now, and I'm not entirely happy with it.
The protection is excellent, also the buttons are perfectly aligned so no risk there. It's just easy to press the wrong one.
The main problem is that this case is really, REALLY bulky and heavy (keep in mind that I'm not new to phablets, I've been using them exclusively for 3 years now), because of the flat back. Also, the leather is wearing out quite a lot at the corners.

Yes , I remember it is curvy at the back side. But too much expensive in my place (India). It is around 3 times the price of that Spigen Wallet S. I wouldn't mind if the top and bottom of the phone are less protected. Most important thing is the screen, and I don't want to use a screen protector.

Your thoughts on magnetic holsters

Im looking for a holster, i found some but most have a magnetic closure. Im not sure if its ok for our phones so i just wantes your thoughts or experience with it. I use samsung pay every day and i dont want any sensor to be off because of the magnets.
Maybe im a little paranoid over it because it probably takes an extremely powerful magnet to cause any harm but im not willing to test it out lol
None of the magnetic items for the phones will cause any harm to your phone.
You may notice that the stylus doesn't work where the magnet is, but it will work just fine when you move the magnet.
As a Samsung Experience Consultant, I do not recommend anything magnetic, I think they mess with the device internals.

You think or you know?
You should only be putting out info if you know. If you don't know, and it is clear you don't, then you should not speak on a subject.
Magnets will in no way harm the phone unless you are using super powerful magnets, what you use to hold the phone to a dock and things like that won't bother it in the least bit.
I do not recommend any of the Samsung Flip Cases to customers because I have seen them cause problems with devices before. I do not recommend magnetic closures because I have seen them cause problems with devices.

It seems strange that Samsung would release a product that would interfere with one of its flagship products and sell it as an accessory.

I'm not sure if this is specifically what you're asking about, but I've been using a Scosche MagicMount (http://amzn.com/B00I608BJ8) for my car dash and love it! I lay the larger metal plate (it comes with two sizes) at the bottom of my case, oriented where the longer sides are parallel to the bottom of the phone (let me know if you need a picture). I don't stick the plate to my phone, but rather set it inside my case. It turns out to be the perfect length and height for the Note 5. Wireless charging and Samsung Pay still work great. I used that picture of the Note 5 where someone made the back of transparent to make sure the wireless charging coil inside the phone does not over lap with the metal plate that comes with the mount.
I bought a nice leatherette case for my Note 5 only to find that the S-Pen does not work on the right hand side where the magnet is. I took it off immediately and went back to my Body Glove case.

This isn't harming your phone, it does do as you have seen which is a TEMPORARY issue and has already been discussed, it will cause no permanent harm to the phone.
I don't know about magnetic holsters but magnetic car mounts most definitely YES. I've used many holsters over the years, for all kinds of types of phones. I haven't really thought about it till I saw this post. My buddy has a good magnetic car mount for his s7 edge, but I don't really know anyone at the moment that's using a magnetic holster. Just my opinion though, the last time I used a holster was way back in January and it was actually pretty good. It was a best buy branded platinum, with kickstand holdster and case like a 3 in kind of deal but not magnetic. It fit could on my belt clips for my jeans and suit pants. Good luck
bought the Bracketron brand at best buy, the magnetic part is on the mount, it is a metal plate stick to your phone so no interference from the magnet, not owning a note 5 tho.
I put in some small tin paper cutouts INSIDE my note 5. I took the back cover off, peeled the sticker with the color/logo and spraypainted it a nice black then just glued the tin paper inside of that. Then I took a flat wireless charger and added neodymium magnets to it, modded it to be as small/thin as possible then covered it up with some black thin leather I bought from Michaels. I mounted it up to my car's console and now I just plop the phone onto it and it sticks tight and fast charges, no wires or case. Worked perfectly, but in hot weather the leather would become a bit slippery so it would slip off, but I fixed that with a couple of very small circular double sided gel tape on the bottom just to provide a bit of friction. I've ridden like this for the past 5 or 6 months and it doesn't slip or fall off at all, heavy bumps, hot weather, nothing dislodges it.
The only thing that doesn't work is the spen, and that's only directly over the magnets, but I wouldn't write on it anyway while it was mounted. Otherwise I've had zero difficulties with it. I'll post up pics if anyone is interested, but it's a bit frankenstein looking.
