CM 10.1? - HTC First

So I'm just curious, is there anyone taking on the Cyanogenmod 10.1 task for the HTC First? I'm not seeing a lot about it and just wanted to ask. Thanks!

I second this. I would happily support this effort via guinea pigging and beer money.

I second this as well. Thanks for bringing this up.

We've got at least one phenomenal dev (Jmz) working on this phone, so I would expect to see CM at some point. The kernel was just released, and prior to that, there wasn't much that could be done other than the stock rom. Despite that, he gave us Sense 4+. I don't want to speak for him, and certainly voicing a request is the best way to show interest, but I'd say be patient.
All that said, I cannot wait for CM!

Partially I agree, but partially I don't. He said in the thread for his Sense 4+ ROM that he's currently working on another big app project and that he doesn't have the First as a priority. That's what I gathered at least, but I'm still thankful there's something out there and that he's put the time in

Donation to CM team to provide us CM10?

Who is in? I'm willing to donate up 20-30 dollars.
Is it really worth taking the chance? X amount of people might donate up to $300 and they still might not give us CM10, after all they are not obliged to as its a donation. Where as new devices are getting CM10, so a port would be a more viable option?
Just my opinion.

Yeah, because they've only just been released! Give them time to fix things. Who's to say a CM10 nightly would be any less buggy?

We dont have a working custom JB kernel yet, but when we do the majority of bigs in JB roms will be fixed. People are working on these kernels as well, so its only a matter of time.

Accidentally posted this under development. Wanted to post it under general. I was more like we will donate IF you promise to provide. But I should make that donation in any case since I've been using CM7 for a year now.
I believe instead of paying them, if we pay our local or forum developers we could get some more and amazing ROM as compare to CM10.

No. I like a smooth ROM with good battery life. I have tried several others, but sooner or later I have turned back to CM.
I would love CM10 on more HTC devices... we didn't even get a CM9, not did the Desire HD... both capable devices. Hopefully using HTC's source code the team can make something happen. They're doing a fantastic service.
Is there any chance to get CM9?

I don't think posting here would get us any attention.
We need to post in the CyanogenMod forums so they realize that there is still demand for a CM10 ROM for the Incredible S

AOSP?

Where is all the love? I kinda thought we would have a much larger community of AOSP roms here. I think a made a decision picking up the HTC one. Lol. I wish I had spare time to develop roms for the community.

There is, but not as much as I thought there would be considering HTC GPE is right down the forum road. Just curious. But I will try to put some stuff out here. I do it for my personal use only. This is my first attempt on an HTC device.

Just remember... GPe is NOT AOSP. It's still the same ol' Sense kernel... It just /looks/ like AOSP. And, additionally, we have a functioning GPe ROM port for our Sprint Ones floating around.
We also have a really stable CM 10.2 nightly which I'm using as my daily driver.
Can't wait to see what you come up with.

AOKP

I am currently working on compiling AOKP for our phone. I will keep you guys updated in my process. Hopefully if things go smoothly, I'll have a working ROM to upload sometime this week.

I would absolutely absolutely absolutely love you if you could get AOKP on this phone. Life would be perfect and glorious.
AOSP style roms are desperately needed on this phone., I love this device but hate the lack of development for it. I wish I was more talented with technology or I would try cooking something up myself. Anyway's I'm looking forward to your progress good man and I will be following your post's diligently.
What's the update here? It's cool with me if things are still "two weeks" away. But whether or not it's still actually happening would be nice to know. I'm just hoping that Zombienaut still wants to make this happen.
On a similar vein, if one were a complete newb, does anyone know how that person could learn enough to be able to tweak AOKP for addition to this phone? How much work would it take to learn, and how/where would one go about getting started?
It's been a long and frustrating ordeal. Trying to work on this while having a job and going to school is making it take longer then expected. Progress is seemingly well, however. The ROM boots, but without working data, WiFi, etc. So please keep patient.

Project Proposal fir the devs!

I have a proposal that might get a good bit of hate but I want to see If any devs would work with me on it.
I want a port if HTC Sense 6 to the N5.
But can It even happen? I mean you see stock ported all the time but could you port something like sense?
That would be awesome

"stock" doesnt get ported to any nexus device, since they run "stock" default. to port sense to a nexus is extremely hard as it needs htc's framework, and if it does happen it would be partially if any bit at all. this will take lots of time and effort! and considering sense is not open source, you will not have any direct access to its code. anyways, considering that people are still trying to port the last version of sense, i wish you good luck.
I encourage all development but this might be quite difficult with closed sources and the framework. If XpLoDWilD can hack into the snap dragon processor and enable always listening from the low powered core then this is possible as well. I doubt devs of that caliber will focus on porting sense to a specific device non htc device though.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
well, you need damn good smali and hex knowledge, as you need to modify the bootstrap in a special lib and add support for s800 ://
it is possible but hard to achieve (well, last word is maybe incorrect, im sorry for that )
Best regards,
OldDroid
I doubt that you will ever see it happen. Which is too bad because of all of the different overlays Sense is by far the best. Unfortunately HTC is not particularly forthcoming with the source code for, well....anything. Having come from the Amaze (Ruby) HTC proved to be very difficult to deal with.
this would be amazing.. loved sense 6 the second I saw it.. but it would be great even if I got a kind of launcher at least. Stock android is great too
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Sense is closed source.
They are releasing blinkfeed in the playstore in the coming weeks/ months. You could easily download a sense like launcher and icons. I did play with the newest m8 at the ATT store and I can say I was very impressed. You could also make the clock widget in zooper, combine all that with blinkfeed and you have yourself an almost sense experience.
Go buy the "new" HTC One
Not that simple when you don't have a job

It's possible, but it would be extremely difficult and would require reverse engineering of the libs and some binaries, as well as likely needing a fully modified kernel and ramdisk. By the time it got fully stable, if it ever did, we would probably be at the release of sense 7.

Good job! I came here to link to that thread.
For anyone confused by the title, check out this post in the thread.
In my several years on XDA, I've seen a few attempts to port OEM skins (usually Sense and Touchwiz) to devices from other manufacturers. Of those attempts, exactly zero of them were successful. As much as I'd like to see this (and I would - Sense is actually pretty awesome), it's just not going to happen.

This is really cool, and I hope it ends up working. As of right now, it's only partially functional, which is about as far as most of these ports get.
Don't get me wrong - I'm pretty excited about the possibility of this. It's just that I've seen a lot of these before, and they always end up going dead after a promising start. Here's to hoping this one is different.

NexSense ROM General Discussion

Since the DEV-ONLY thread was getting OT and Noob questions, I thought I'd make this thread to take all that away from that thread and leave the devs to their work. So ask anything here about it until Galaxyuser creates a ROM thread. I'll be happy to answer questions as well.
If you would like some instructions on how to flash this ROM with MultiROM, here is a video made by Gavin96 that will walk you through step by step on how to do so.

And also, if you already have the ROM up and running, here is a little treat for Xposed users. Thank jonata in that post.

Yeah, i could tell people were getting irritated. Hopefully this will help the development of the ROM go a little faster. I didn't think I'd ever like anything other than stock Android but I'm liking Sense 6.
Sense looks better to me on the Nexus 5 than it does on an HTC phone.
Any idea till when it will get stable release, how much bugs are left for fix

There's quite a bit of work they need to do. The main one is sound and mic I think. Since we can't make phone calls without it. Until thats fixed, it can't be a daily driver unless you never take calls. Other things like the camera and certain sensors and NFC need to be fixed but can go without if needed.

Ok but i have heard that it breaks few sensors of many users and testers
That's going to be one heck of an undertaking although one may be able to cheat the sensors by using our libs and renaming them to match htc's version. I don't know how this guys doing his porting though.

I never thought there was such a big sense following among nexus users. I prefer pure Android myself but I'm interested in seeing if they can actually make a decent port with everything working so I can give it a whirl. Hats off to the devs I'm sure its not going to be easy.

Well one of the best things that the Nexus 5 has is MultiROM. Thanks to that, I have both sense and stock on my device. Best of both worlds.
Thanks for you thread it's really helpful for me
I'm impressed with how far it has gone already. Sure, no audio, nfc, or sensors, but the fact the RIL and Wifi work is enough to at least play around with for more than a few minutes. It actually runs really well for having very few bug fixes.
