[Q] P1000 AT&T which ICS uses hardware nav keys and working BT? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Like the title says, I have an AT&T P1000. Awhile ago I flashed and have been running Overcome 4.1.0 so obviously I have CW Recovery.
1. What do I need to do to flash an ICS or higher ROM?
2. Which ICS or higher ROM uses the hardware buttons on the bottom INSTEAD of soft keys on the screen? I know the HTC One X comes with ICS and uses hardware buttons instead of softkeys.
Basically this Overcome installation's BT doesn't work all that well, sometimes it sees devices, sometimes not. Also I'd like to be able to use Chrome browser so ICS and up makes more sense. Looking for something lean, mean, and trouble-free as much as possible (especially BT). Using my GT in my car with Torque app an OBD2 BT adapter so need RELIABLE BT.
Thanks in advance, I hope someone can point me in the right direction... I've never been all that good at this stuff.

If on overcome, you can try redpill kernel. It is compatible with overcome ROM.
Its BT might be better.
If flashing ICS or JB from cwm, just download the ROM and gapps and flash.
But you need to flash the ROM a few times, as each times it does different things. Watch the output message, you will know what it does.
I am on AOKP JB.
I can turn off soft button anytime.

So when you say you can turn off soft button, does this mean you can remove it from the screen and only use hardware? Does this mean it puts taskbar at the top like HTC One X?

Maybe I just screenshot it.

Would it be safe to update this or does it also possibly patch a hole in the bootloader? Would you be able to bring the Droid X back down to a previous update if necessary?
i'm pretty sure its safe up update
Downloading the update! Let see if this fixes the ability to copy and paste from the moto email client.

Still no copy paste
I think u need to think before you post "safe". It probably is not "bad" but it very well could patch a possible exploit making your phone harder to root later on.

http://www.wjddesigns.com/2010/07/20/droid-x-ota-update-out-commercially/ I figured people should know it broke my cam and video camera but found a fix for it - it was fring
THe update was to fix a variety of things including the Screen issue.
http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/07/21/verizonmotorola-issue-fix-for-droid-x-screen/
Article says it all.
I've heard DX users report that bluetooth tethering works OOB w/o the wifi hotspot package, and the improvements list for this update includes "updated bluetooth connection for enhanced video sharing experience". Does this update remove said tethering functionality?
The update doesn't break bluetooth tether.

[Q] Digitizer scrolls down suddenly/randomly

It seems my galaxy ace will suddenly scrolls down by itself, mostly in opera mini.
Sometimes, in google map, if "flicks" to another place by itself too.
Any one has the same digitizer problem? I'm thinking if I should take it for repair.
Or if someone already tried to get it fixed, but it'll never be fixed like some design error, I'd rather save my time...
Edit:
Tried both stock rom and CM7. My GF, a colleague and a friend who owns an ace told me they have the same issue
i have this bug too, and i think all ace users has it too. and for now there isnt any fix for it.
And I thought I was the only one having this problem. Samsung sucks >_<

I'll take it to Samsung later today.
I hope it can be fixed, its getting annoying.
Lol, you can't fix something that's wrong with all the Aces. I have that problem too. I'm guessing its another factory fault like the battery meter.
Got the phone back, the problem still exists.
What apps are u guys using when the erratic scrolls occurs?
No wonder samsung doesn't care, it seems the users don't really care, except me
I'll try to fix it in the touch driver in the kernel and release a patch if it's fixed.
The plan is to filter those extremely quick finger press and release events, where those events are impossible to be human(by time and distance of the 2 points).
I can't seem to find the kernel source for the CM7 roms for ace, so it'll be a patch for the stock kernel.
Same problem here, this scrolling glitch gets very annoying after some time
Its kinda spooky hhhh. Like a ghost using ur phone too
Is there any patch for it ?
For me it scrolls up...
Then I used a touch test and this after repeatedly moving my finger around in the left bottom corner, this is what I got.
This problem also makes it difficult to use swype!

I just seen a thread for this. Some people have taken their phone into repair which they can't fix it. Its a hardware fault. If you can prove that its doing that after they repair it, there is a chance to get a different phone of about the same value.

FM Radio

Just got my new Galaxy note. And I cant find the FM radio app that
is suppose to be on this phone. What am I missing?
It is suppose to be a international unlocked version, but I see a lot of ATT apps on the phone.

I'd check the ROM version, and consider upgrading/flashing the latest e.g. official version
In case you did Flash a ICS-Rom you won´t find any Radio App.
You could try Spirit FM. It´s the only ICS-App that works.
But it´s not easy to configure and it´s not guarantied that you will get it to work.
Might Google for working settings in that app.

Does your phone have a big hardware home button with a capacitive button on either side; or does it just have four light-up capacitive buttons under the screen?

As far as I know, the Galaxy Note I717, doesn't really have an FM Radio build on the device....
you might be better off getting the international version if you want to have the FM radio right off the bat....
what is your phone model written on the box? GT-N7000 ?

There are supposed to be ZERO at&t apps on a genuine international note. You've been had. The best sign is as stated that the N7000 has physical buttons and not simulated, onscreen ones.

ICS tablet hybrid mode rom

1. why was the ICS table mode of imilka's AOSP ICS v08 discontinued?
2. is there a similar or port rom of Paranoidandroid tablet/hybrid cm9 (from Galaxy Nexus) compatible for international Galaxy Note?

Not to my knowledge...but I absolutely love this idea! I usually use my Note at 200-213 DPI, and I love the tablet interface, but I also miss that "phone" feel at the same time...and I feel the Note is more my phone than a tablet, even though it is in "tablet" mode. Confusing, right?
can i get the digital clock shown in the wallpaper on my SGN??
I use it as a compact tablet than a phone.

If you guys are looking for the dock configuration in tablet mode use Nova Launcher, in latest releases you can use tablet mode and also have a dock with stationary icons on every screen just like with phone mode

I share the same observation, after the ICS update my Galaxy note the package access helper is using most of the CPU, and it is draining the battery!
Any help in understanding the process would be helpful
Ive just checked my phone and no Package acess helper icon there but i do have battery drain

I've tried stock ICS LPY and LQ2 and it seems this is one of those rogue services that is destined to fry your phone. It seems to fire up when uninstalling apps and then gobbles up huge amounts of CPU and just keeps going.
This morning I installed 3-4 small apps and quickly uninstalled two of them. The uninstalls took ages - like over a minute each - and the phone was getting warm at the back. I used System Panel Lite to check on processes and CPU usage and this little ****er was going like the clappers and showing no sign of stopping.
Another one to look out for on stock ICS is the Samsung keyboard, and possibly other keyboards (e.g. Swiftkey X) too. They seem capable of clocking up huge CPU minutes if the wind is in the wrong direction, despite the keyboard barely being used, if at all. I have no idea what prompts the crazy behaviour on that one, but I've seen it several times over the course of different ICS installs.
I never saw these problems with the Gingerbread ROMs.
Up..
Can anyone help us with this annoying problem?
I don't know why it would have high battery usage unless an install did not complete correctly and left the process running. Have you tried a battery pull reset?
