I tried and failed. I'm sure its because I had wrong numbers for buttons but wasn't sure how to get those. But if you are going to work on it then I will let you as it obviously wasn't meant for me to do...haha.

I did some work on GCC 4.8 compat last night and am working on the other issue although it still eludes me
made a couple patches for clocks not sticking
source is now fully -Ofast optimized or -O3 optimized and has settings for both
i have branched a performance tree as well so users can have a stock then a performance centered build
the performance build will have:
Kernel based Mpdec
Kernel based Thermald
Cmdline control interfacing
Overclock/Underclock etc

Over clocking and under clocking Is working

my SOC is classified as FAST (just meaning it takes less voltage for clocks)
this SOC is clocking up to 1.89 with some tweaking and noticably faster
like wow
i thought just the GCC 4.8 optimizations gave some speed but this is amazing

I am looking forward to it IMO kernels are as/more important than roms when it comes to performance, from my experience with the nexus 7

Okay, try to go as low with the minimum as stable
With max freq I don't go over 1.2 GHz, some use up to 1.5 but that guzzles battery
For gov I use intellidemand or lionheart depending on the kernel
Sent from my HTC Incredible S
I use SetCPU with max: 1,4. Everything above freezes my device and screws battery life. gov: ondemand or lionheart
My sweet spot for oc is 1.2 max, with ondemand/lionheart gov. I don't see any need to go beyond that as all apps and games run well and smooth with that setting. However i've try max of up to 1.5 without any freezing or crash problem.
Also using oc daemon to set oc values, this eliminate lag (sleep - wake), experienced when im using oc apps such as setcpu (thanks markj for the guide)
Sent from my Incredible S using xda app-developers app
I'm running 1.5 GHz with no problems. I even got it up to 1.7 but I put it down to 1.5. If you can, after you OC, you can try run the stress test in setcpu for a bit...

[KERNEL][4.3][JSS/JWR] conservative.Kernel v1.2

conservative.Kernel v1.2
My goal was to create a battery friendly kernel while retaining enough performance to not take away from the Android experience. This is very much so a personal project; I wasn’t happy with the current selection of kernels available to I decided to modify my own.
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome, but demands are not. I am a full-time student with a job, girlfriend, and friends. I work on this kernel because I enjoy doing so, please respect that.
If you like my work, please feel free to donate to me and everyone else that helped make it possible.
NOTE: franco’s default hotplug is disabled because it conflicts with intelli_plug causing lockups and reboots. If you would prefer to use this hotplug, first disable intelli_plug, then enable sys/module/mako_hotplug/parameters/thalamus_hotplug_active.
Features
- Based off of franco.Kernel
- Compiled with SaberMod GCC 4.8
- intelli_plug
- eco-mode dual core operations
- conservative governor
- ondemand governor
- USB OTG
- Battery Life eXtender
- Battery optimized default parameters

Thanks man, and haha I've already thought about that. I could easily make a JWR verion and maintain it along side of the JSS, so I guess it's just a matter of if there is a demand for it. To be honest, I built this with the JSS merges because at the time franco didn't have them in his repo's, but now that I've made more changes than just that I could do both.
Site won't let me download. String error or something. Looks good will try again later!

Yup, every parameter that franco has available on his kernel is available on here, though eco-mode and intelli_plug won't appear since franco does not include those in his kernel. I recommend Trickster MOD, but FKU will still work.

[KERNEL][N4] inception.kernel - r10

Hey everyone, here is inception.kernel
I will never go on chasing issues. If this kernel works for you It's good, If it doesn't I'm sorry
Download:
4.4.4 AOSP: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23610159112651165
L-preview: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23610159112651164
Source:
https://github.com/aviz1911/kernel
How to flash the kernel:
Dirty flash your ROM and flash inception or just flash it
Things you should not ask:
- Lower CPU frequencies (minimum is 384MHz)
- Stupid governors
- CPU and GPU overclocks
- Support for older android versions
- Support for CM rom's
Inception changelog:
http://pastebin.com/mDS21y7e
Read this
Q. This kernel is not working on CM based rom's ?
A. I compile kernels which work on AOSP - to be precise on 4.4.4 STOCK ROM. They may or may not work on Custom rom's
Q. I flashed this on xyz custom rom and i had many reboots ?
A. I test inception.kernel on stock 4.4.4 rom. Don't bother posting the issues you got flashing this on custom rom's - i will ignore you
Q. Flashed your kernel and it's a BOOTLOOP ?
A. That means you did not read the instructions on how to flash this kernel from the OP correctly. Deal with it
Q. Battery life suckSSS with this kernel
A. I don't build kernel's that kills your battery. Install wakelock detector and see the god-damn app's which drain the battery
Q. Some features are missing in the latest inception.kernel which are present in the old versions
A. Check the changelog and feature list. If the feature you were looking for is not there, then i removed it
Q. I don't like your reply, i'll report on xda and complaint to the police
A. Do what ever the want. I'm GOD
Q. Does this kernel have features like DT2W, s2s, Touch wake ?
A. Yes, this kernel have all those features and you can use trickster or synapse to activate them
Q. How can i activate Double tap 2 wake profiles ?
A. TricksterMOD supports multiple values for dt2w, let's put it to use - credits: @savoca
1 - (Semaphore Stock) Center wake zone
2 - Full wake zone
3 - Bottom half of screen wake zone
4 - Top half of screen wake zone

The main point is i will add some good features but when i get into some compilation errors or any other incompatibility issues i mainly depend on Google. So, i cannot promise you that "every feature out there will be included in this kernel", But the features i like( easy to include ) will be added :laugh:

Is it compatible for all HTC one m8 variants?

You need to post source to be in compliance with GPL. Posting to an empty github repo doesn't count.

I'm guessing the users experienced a constant inescapable system force closes after flashing this kernel on top of whatever AOSP ROM they were using.
I flashed a kernel linked in the CM thread on top of Carbon ROM and experienced this.
If you force reboot to get back to recovery, you boot in to find out the internal storage is inaccessible. If you boot up again. You find the phone is encrypted and requesting a password to unlock.
LITERALLY the only solution is to completely wipe internal storage via recovery which then adb push another ROM to the phone before flashing that.
I lost many pictures I had not backed up yet and many many Titanium Backup files.
I highly recommend everyone keeps all of these files backed up daily before this happens to you or just avoid AOSP/CM till this has been officially fixed.
