[ROM][ODIN][ZIP]Stock Rooted Deodexed/Odexed MF9 with SuperSU/Busybox 1.20.2 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Android Development

Thanks to Calkulin for use of the install script. Thanks to Chainfire for SuperSU. Thanks to dsixda for the Kitchen. Thanks to romracer for the Deodexed Wallet fix. Thanks to garwynn for helping me get the system image working on the S4.
Flash this to get Deodexed/Odexed stock MF9 with latest root (SuperSU), su binary and Busybox 1.20.2. The zip files Do Not include a kernel or any other firmware. The tar files are complete packages that include Everything. That means the stock kernel and recovery are included. If you don't want those delete them out of the tar file before you flash it with Odin.
All of the zips wipe cache and dalvik for you so no need to do that separately.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. You do this at your own risk.
As with everything I release, you are welcome to use this any way you need. Just remember where it came from:good:
There is a version for no data wipe and data wipe. Make sure you don't get them mixed up. The data wipe versions do not delete the /data/media folder.
Custom kernels will still give you a nag. A kernel dev will have to fix that. For now freeze seandroid.
If you get an md5 error in Odin delete the .md5 off the filename and try again.

Installation Instructions:
There are multiple methods of installation. This is just one that I would recommend.
Install custom recovery (If you don't already have one)
Make a backup
Odin noobnl's tar from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43418277 (Make sure you follow the instructions)
Install stock MF9 kernel
Install the rom zip of your choice
Odin Files:
I now have the Rom in Odin flashable tar files. They are compressed in rar format so you will need to decompress them before you flash with Odin. Also note that these include the stock kernel and recovery. If you don't want those installed you must delete them out of the tar file before flashing it. Otherwise just install it and replace the kernel and/or recovery with whatever you want.

I'm assuming same drill going from mdc to mdl. First odin mdl tar and inject custom recovery then flash this..?

Noob here. Currently on MDL with a rooted stock and hotspot mod installed trough root browser. Also I have TWRP.
Which one of these will be the most like what I would get if I wasn't rooted and did an OTA update? Would I just download and flash it with TWRP, or do I need to go back to everything stock first?

I would use what noobnl posted to update the modem and everything to MF9 and update and then flash the Stock Rooted Odexed ROM of MF9 with no data wipe through your recovery. This is what I will do and did to go from MDC to MDL.

I concur. Thanks!

Upload needs moar fastar.

When we went from mdc to mdl we had to go back to mdc for the ota update. Since these include the mf9 firmware can we just flash this with a full wipe and the just inject a custom recovery? Just checking if we have to go Back to mdl stock. Currently on Xousos mdl rom.

On MDL we had to go back to MDC and do the OTA to get the modem. After checking Noobnl's post I see that it doesn't look like it includes the kernel. So you here is what I would do. Make a backup. Odin noobnl's tar. Install custom recovery. Flash the stock MF9 kernel. Install the MF9 rom of your choice. Restore Data only.

Primary Odex links are done. Mirrors are still uploading. Still working on Wallet for Deodexed.

[Q] How to get stock kernel

I am running stock 4.0.4 with hydracore kernel.
I am getting the OTA update but cannot install.
how can i get back to the stock kernel without flashing the stock rom via pc odin ?
You got 2 options...
1. Download the stock ROM on your PC and extract the kernel (zImage) and flash it after
2. Download Chainfire's stock CF-Root kernel from this link- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784 and find the kernel that matches your ROM (on your region.

Download stock kernel for your rom from here and then flash using mobile odin or K-tools. I have done it many times using mobile odin and it even retains root.
But there is still no guarantee of OTA, I was on stock LR6 with stock kernel with mods and OTA failed everytime, now flashed GB and updating to LR6 via kies to use OTA.

or can i flash the zimage from mobile odin?
Most often it will.. since your using PC Odin.. but there's nothing impossible as long as you root your phone back and use ChainFire's TriangleAway app to remove the counter back to 0.
EDIT: Yes, MOdin can flash Zimage as well.. try to look for some of the answers here as well -->>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1713289
Flashing anything which is stock should not raise custom count, same way as flashing stock firmware using pc odin doesn't. but why take chances when you can flash it using mobile odin or K-tools easily.
I even once flashed stock kernel using Doomlord's tool (used in CF root kernels to root and flash , it didn't raise the custom count.
Just put zimage on root of SD and flash by MO or ktools, easy. Modin can handle zimage and tar both.

Yes, that's why I said no guarantee of OTA even after flashing stock kernel, I was on stock kernel already and never flashed custom but still had to flash GB from odin for OTA

Here as well.

I haven't finished downloading yet or unzipping to see if the file is correct but the zipped file size sends a bit small for an official ROM. Also, they package the kernel separately? That's weird.
Has anyone used these?
Flash the SPR-L720VPUAMF9-20130626162512.zip via TWRP ?

I used it myself and it worked very well. For me, a fresh MF9 flash via PC Odin was more stable and smoother than doing the MDL to MF9 update.
If you flash the full MF9 tar, you don't need to go back and flash the kernel tar.
Thank you!
I am on MDL w/ many mods.
I guess I am gonna have to go this route, although, phone is working as I like.
But, I guess I have to continue to move forward?
Sigh, I also will guess after doing this will wipe out everything, and I have to start all over.
Definitely gonna perform a fullbackup first, and then remove my ext. sdram.

Yes, you'll lose root and custom recovery. After flashing this, use Odin again to flash a custom recovery then flash SuperSU within custom recovery to gain back root.
Is it possible for someone to make a NOData version. (Got kind of spoiled from the E4GT)

It's pretty simple. First, backup all your data and media then perform a factory reset from the phone's Setting menu.
Shut the phone down and enter the stock recovery mode. Open Odin on your laptop or desktop, connect your phone, select the tar file, and flash your phone. You'll be back to 100% stock.

I am not very good with the S4 since it is my friends phone I have a note 2. If I flash the full MF9 via odin then all I have to do is CF auto root again and my friend it rooted again?
If I use ODIN do I have to edit ODIN to show phone bootloader update checked before I flash the MF9 tar?
Anyone have a suggestion on how to rooted back once the update to MF9 is done beside CF auto root method?

Yes! Use CF-Autoroot to root and be careful NOT to check anything like repartition etc. or you'll kill your phone.

Noob question - which slot do we put this in to flash in ODIN? AP? I've never flashed just a recovery before.
(I'm in v3.09 so my options are PIT, BL, AP, CP, CSC, and UMS appears greyed out).
Thanks!
Edit - I'm an idiot. I did flash TWRP a long time ago and used PDA, which appears to have been renamed to AP. I would assume all recoveries will be flashed in PDA/AP so you can ignore my question.
Flash MFD Stock Recovery
I have been trying to install the OTA 4.3 and beyond. The phone keeps nagging me about installing 4.3 but it always fails. I figured out that it probably fails because I am running TWRP recovery. I downloaded the MFD Stock Recovery from SamuriHL's post to fix the stock recovery issue but I just noticed that my Baseband is I337MVLUAMDJ. That appears to be part of a Canadian firmware? My Kernel Version is 3.4.0-440244, [email protected] #160, Tue Jun 11 02:07:59 CDT 2013. I don't know if this kernel and baseband goes with the MFD Build. SamuriHL can you explain if this configuration is correct? The phone seems to work without issues in this configuration except for not being able to do OTA updates.
My question: Should I download and install the full stock firmware and recovery so the phone is completely stock? If so, SamuriHL can you supply a link to the complete firmware so I can make it a full stock phone?
I really appreciate your help. :fingers-crossed:
You should look in the forum. I've already provided the full stock images.

That's exactly what i did (in that order) and I got a bootloop.
I was able to fix it by restoring my backup and ODIN flashing the ANI1 modem.
So I got the ROM to boot with the old modem, however the fingerprint scanner does not work and my Gear Vr headset just shows a blue screen when I put it on.
Think I'll wait a few days/weeks till the bugs are all worked out

My phone won't boot past the att logo screen. I have been running a custom mi9 jellybean rom since early last year. I decided to upgrade to jellybean finally. I wiped and flashed carl1961's deodexed rom and super su both of which were successful. I tried flashing the oc1patch firmware that was next in his instructions but it failed. I decided to continue on with the next instruction and flash the oc2 firmware file, it was successful. Then I rebooted from SS reboot menu. The "galaxy note 3" screen comes on and hangs for a while goes away and comes back on for a while. Then the att logo screens starts and freezes. That's as far as it gets. I'd like to either restore my backup from SS or upgrade to LP w/root. Do I use Walter whites Odin files to get LP? Or Odin to KK, root, then upgrade to LP? TIA!!!

The best way to upgrade to OC1/OC2 (atleast with the least probabilities of a bootloop occurring) is to first flash NC2 wipe tars via odin and then flashing carl1961's OC2 deodexed rom (with SuerSU).
1. Download the NC2 odin flashable files from https://mega.nz/#F!wg5wRQrQ!vR7a6pze9dgSWjbaRSyhWA (Caution: These are wipe tars and will format the phone's internal storage, so backup everything from the phone memory). Flash them via odin, and your phone will boot into NC2 KitKat.
2. Once the phone boots up and you've completed the crappy startup questions, install towelroot (https://towelroot.com/) and root your phone. Install supersu and busybox from playstore and install them. Download and install safestrap (Safestrap-HLTEATT-NC2-3.75-B03.apk)
3. Download carl1961's rom and a few other things:
The rom (https://mega.nz/#!qc8QHI6T!_8x88BL-ivTM0yj5uhbmNITernym8HMr2VKJJZB9JeE)
OC1 Patch Firmware (https://mega.nz/#!fQ8nSbbA!qzw9IzKf6BzwY0IOHGjGFOmV1QgWoYv-AV4NsjyuiT8)

For backing up your internal memory, you need to dirty flash with a stock firmware (ie. a non-wipe odin flashable NC2 tar). Download it from here: bit.ly/1q98wGU, and flash this in the AP section of Odin, keep all others (BL, CP and CSC) empty. This way, the flashing won't erase the phone's internal memory. Although I think it factory resets and erases your apps (and their data), but doesn't erase user downloaded/added data.
