HTC Releasing Updated HTC One - Sprint HTC One (M7)

HTC Releasing Updated HTC One This Year, New Flagship in 2014
HTC’s One is currently the company’s flagship device, and will be over the next few months. But sources say not to rule out a follow up later this year, likely in the fall, that will be aligned as an “updated version.” If you haven’t picked up one of the best handsets currently on the market, you might want to hold off and wait it out.

I would hope the M8 has better camera zoom. But for now I would be happy with the sprint 4.2.2, after that I am sure my wants will lean towards the M8 :crying:

So with is it. They should stick to aluminum
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium

They BETTER stick to metal unibody. It's one of the only things which makes the device stand out tangibly.
Also, I expect a recessed camera lens, less flush buttons, a higher MP count, no (or at least revised) capacitive buttons and a new name for God's sake.
One, One S, One SV, One V, One X, One X+, etc. ???

To be honest, it's probably with different microphones. Lol I believe they said once they run out of the current supply of Mics, they'd use different ones due to Nokia's exclusivity to them for now.

Maybe it'll have that beast Snapdragon 800!

I'm pretty sure that exclusivity was only for like 6 months.

Plastic? Yes! Less radio interference. The signal quality between my ONE and my old S3 is like night and day.

Tkoreaper. Quick question.... With the issues with the one. Is is a better choice to stay with my s3. I didn't want to do the s4 cause I don't see the major benefits in it

Possible Bad News for the Nexus 4 Life-Span!

http://bgr.com/2013/01/11/nexus-4-successor-rumor-289453/
This could turn out to be a very bad thing for Google and LG to do and would piss a lot of customers off. Especially since pretty much most of the people who have Nexus 4's are the most loyal to Google...

Nothing. Rumors are rumors.
Not this again. That article's almost a week old.
Not only was there never any evidence that LG had stopped production (it was just a stupid rumor that circulated because one article wildly speculated without citing any sources), but LG has now stated that production of the Nexus 4 is increasing.

I'm also talking about the quote from the LG man where he said that they are going to be announcing some new Nexus devices at different screen sizes next month..
There may already be a new Nexus release coming soon regardless of the Nexus 4 staying in production.
oooh not this again

If the nexus 4 had a short life span it will retain its retail value even more. So it will cost me less to get the new one

[Q] HTC One (M7) Running AOSP?

This question may be questionable considering I am asking developers, but what is the likelihood that AOSP 4.2.2 will be ported over to the HTC One when it comes out?
Thanks in advance.
It will. Its only a matter of time. End of thread.

100% as soon as kernel source code is available. You didn't ask how stable it is anyways
I want this as well I want to install android paranoid official it's the rom of all roms.
Why bother.you'll lose the camera. Surely one of the selling points of this phone. I love aosp but won't adopt it on this one. It's not worth it. Starting to think this with all HTC phones.the camera app is crap. The one x aosp etc was crap with regards to the camera.
If your not fussed with the camera then yeah aosp all the way.

Just making my way back to the android scene after being on iPhone for a few years. I remember the camera always being a headache to port functionality for in the past. Is it because they never release the libraries for it?
What is the stumbling block that makes it so difficult to make it function?
Stock Android camera app isn't the best... The wheel thing is dumb since your finger blocks some of the options. Paranoid android and the sense camera looks like something I'd really like

It's not about porting camera to make it work. It's about porting the camera features available on sense to AOSP. Like Zoe.

I met an apple worker at the local YMCA that was holding an Iphone 5s prototype (so h

The phone was still 4 inches but it looked slightly wider, also the glass appeared to be bending on the edges like our nexus 4 does. The front facing camera was also a little bigger. The back was just one straight color it didn't have that two different material thing going on. And it was running ios7. The apple logo in the back was covered up but you can see the fcc and serial numbers etc. He didn't let me touch it or take pictures. Keep in mind I could have been super trolled with a Chinese knock off but it looked pretty legit.

Sorry but that is BS. If they release the 5S in the fall, it will be the exact same dimensions of the 5. Otherwise none of the accessories will work. And like past releases, no one is allowed to carry a prototype device without it being in a case that makes it completely indistinguishable from the previous version. Plus, this is a Nexus 4 forum, not a iPhone forum.
inb4 a bunch of "This is a forum about the Nexus 4! Quit posting about other phones!" posts, then eventual closing of this thread

Successful design. :highfive:
Doesn't Apple do this every year?
I wouldn't call it recycling, it's brand identity.

Why should they change the design? It just works and despite of what some "design purists" are going to say it's one of the best on the market. Keep in mind when looking at all those concept artworks that they are just that artworks and they don't have to acknowledge all the given limitations that exist in reality.

Since Samsung has been awarded with some patents it may change in the future, but I agree with you, it just works, having a front button to wake up the phone is great.
IMO It's like to keep the "S" family close. Since it's the "S" flagship series. They could always use other design but it'll be a black sheep.

I really miss the Samsung Wave series design.
But the S5 not looks as bad as anyone think.
I think the best desing is the s4. The s5 looks like my old s1

Up to a point I'm just not that interested in how it looks. I want it to do what I want (not Verizon's or Samsung's idea of what I want) & do it right now dependably. Good battery life, easy to handle & carry. That's why I am toting GS4 dev edition with Hyperdrive rom.

More marketing?

Is google about to mass market this nexus 6? I have seen tons of android and google now commercials the last few months. And have seen them a lot. And all over the world series. Who else thinks this phone will be mass marketed on a Samsung level?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Notice that you have seen advertising for ANDROID and GOOGLE NOW. Google is pushing their software and respective services b/c that's where they make their money. Whereas Samsung, LG, HTC and others are pushing their hardware while trying to emphasize their own software implementations. Don't get me wrong nothing would get me more hype than a giant Nexus 6 billboard but, as we've seen with past Nexi, that's not going go happen...
I see your point. I just feel with it going to all carriers and the flagship price they could really advertise. Time will tell though.

You'd think they would push it since it is being distributed to all carriers. I agree that they should push it and really get the Nexus name out there. I'm tired of being asked if my phone is a “Droid" or a “Galaxy." Let's be honest though, if Google did start advertising; they have A LOT of catching up to do!

Yep. I know the feeling. People look at me funny when I say it i have a nexus. With pride. Lol. But if anyone can catch up. It would be the billion dollar advertisement company. I sure hope they go for it. Sad when I walked into t mobile and all they want to do is sell you a Samsung. No matter how set you are on a device made for your needs. $$$$

I say they are marketing it, far more than they have ever done so before. They really REALLY seem to have something here with their current campaign and want to get it out there as much as possible (which is awesome, because I find this new campaign to be really cool and good spirited).
Even a few of the new android commercials have shown off the Nexus 6 whether it be a glimpse or the subject manner. It seems this time around with 5.0 Lollipop Google is going FULL FORCE on getting positive android appeal in the open market. Unlike before we are approaching something new and potentially great here for the community.
