[Q] advice needed for ROM selection - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
My wife is using an international Samsung Galaxy Note.
As all of you have already know the performance of the phone has been degraded more and more as upgrades are added to it. I have wiped the phone and downgraded to 4.0.4 but wouldn't help.
I didn't know pay attention to the development of third party ROM for Samsung Galaxy Note. So I would be much appreciated if some of your can tell me which ROM is close to Stock firmware (TW based) and with speed optimization. Graphical improvement or additional function is not my highest concern, I just want to make the phone faster and easy for my to use (same interface as stock rom).
Thank you for all your help.

All Roms posted in the forum are good. But nothing beats the rom " Mybest Rom" developed by dsmas.

Flashing REMICS over Slim ICS

Hello everyone
I have one (simple) question: How to Change from Slim ICS 4.0 to RemICS 1.2
I have a little experience in flashing and ROMS, maybe a wipe cache / dalvik cache before flashing would do it ?
I have actually a GT-I9000 with Slim ICS 4.0
Any guide is welcome, I have searched the forum but was not able to get a clear answer
Thanks in advance
Just flash over it I think do a cache and dalvik wipe to be sure but it should be a simple upgrade so to speak

Hi
First, I want to thank you for clicking the link I provided
I can actually read a step by step guide (How could I get into Slim ICS if I wasn't )
My question was targeted to hilight any ancompatibility of this ROM with the base of Slim ICS as for example, before going from a stock Rom to this one, I needed a CM7 based rom
RemICS is saying it is a CM9 ROM
Slim ICS is "fully built from AOSP sources with some cherry picks from CM and AOKP team" according to its author
So I thought there may be a need to flash a CM9 rom before and in this case, which one is the more suitable ?
And what about the modem ? (I have now a cm7 XXJVT)
Nevertheless, thanks for taking some precious seconds to type some precious words (...)

Firstly, incase other people read this, slim needs a cm9 base.
Directly after installation instructions at remics it says it is a CM9 based ROM.
Further to that, it is advisable to post these questions in the ROM thread as you are far more likely to get a clear concise answer

LGUI3.0 JellyBean ROM in the works - Needs few testers

Hi,
Yay I'm back. Will release TouchWiz ICS4.5 this weekend and TW5 JB in two weeks.
As above I have incorporated TonyP's LG CWM ROM with CM10 to make as a LG3 ROM with 4.1. I have deleted the CM10 parts from it later so its very stock like. Please a few testers try it and give me feedback as my 2X isn't available at the moment.

Awesome
I have downloaded it, and installed it. First off all I use 3.0 gig data partition and teamwin recovery, wich works flawlessly. It says in system info that it is still 4.0.4 but I don't know if that's actually true , the rom is smoother than the others, stefan and tonyp's and for the rest I don't really know what to say, sorry I'm a noob but, thanks and it works! What is the difference between?

Hi I m coming from Motorola Atrix forum to here cause i ve changed my phone to N7000 I wonder what is the difference between Original n7000 developement and n7000 developement? There was no another original developement topic in Atrix's

Good question!
The original android dev is about android as it was intended by google. (Aosp).
The other one is mainly for samsung based roms (with touchwiz and all that nonsense ;#)

Thank you so much for your answer. I have a little question. Does it mean that roms in original developement doesnt have multiview and other cool samsung features? And last, which rom you prefer? I m planning to flash the Ultimate rom

Thats right, multiview is a feature developed by samsung and is part of touchwiz, both those things arent available in AOSP (Android Open Source Project) roms.
If you prefer a samsung/touchwiz based rom then I reckon Ultimate is alright.
I myself however have am more comfortable with an AOSP rom, currently and for the last year or so ive been using Paranoid Android, which can be found in the Original Android Development section of the forum.
It has alot of nice features such as the Pie menu, DPI Mods (which is awesome on the big screen of the G-Note).
None of the touchwiz features are available on that rom, I prefer it that way.
I suggest you make a backup and just try both : )
Have fun, and good luck!

My ROM is based on JB 4.1.2, that android version number is just a build.prop edit for showing off
I prefer Stock

Grats on the marriage, bro. I would recommend Camcory's Aoip ROM. 4.3JB
i would def recommend Vanir Rom from Camcory. Ive had no problems with it
Just to further add to the confusion, I liked the aoip 4.2 rom, but the slimbean 4.2 is a lot smaller and I find it very stable. The flash doesn't work, though.
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda app-developers app
i would recommend AOIP 4.2 (8/10/13) it gives me better battery life than the 4.3 and the 4.2 seemed more stable to me.
This was posted by Wrusry and I would agree with his assessment.
"The most stable and best version is, IMO, the 8/10/2013 build which is called 1.5 and is based on Android 4.2.2. If you flash the "3.4.63 OC undervolt high memory with whitescreen fix" your battery life should be awesome. If not, the culprit could be locations services from Maps. Greenifying Maps helps for this.
While AOIP 2.0 has some nice features and is a cleaner looking version, it does not perform as well nor is it as stable as 8/10/2013 1.5.
I have 3 phones from my family on this ROM and they are working well. (One feature on 4.2.2 that I didn't realize until recently is the group texting feature that becomes available in 4.2.x.)"
Thanks my dear fellow buddies.. I am downloading it rightaway..
