You can install ADB driver from latest version of flashtool. there is a driver inside the flash tool.

Download this. And install the drivers.

check following
settings > security > unknown sources > ticked
Settings > developer options > USB debugging > ticked
How to enable developer options? Go to settings > about phone > keep tapping on build number until it says "no need you are already a developer
Also when you are running root script, check prompt on phone. sometimes it disappears quickly if u fail to click ok

They have adb drivers in flashtool drivers...Or you can just downgrade your phone and root using kingo root or towelroot !

"Waiting for device"

hi all
i have a problem with rooting.!
my phone bricked and i flashed 2.1.1.c.0.0.ftf
but now when i wanna root it with superoneclick or x8toolbox it stops at "waiting for device"
help me please.!
1) run superoneclick.exe as administrator
2) it is normal for it not to respond at first..try more times
3) if that doesn't work check if usb debugging is on?
enable usb debugging in settings
dont forget to install the drivers
usb debugging is enable

i already have them.!
Enable USB-Debugging and connect your phone to the computer (do NOT enable USB-Storage mode - connect in Charging mode!)
Start Flashtool and root with Flashtool ... for me this always worked more reliably than with SuperOneClick.
Same mine before, but what i do is take out the memory & just like a miracle i dont know why its work,i manage to root my phone without a sdcard, maybe because my sdcard has poor quality...
try remove battery b4 u plug it to comp..
its always works 4 me..
P.S. hold the back button until flashtool recognize it..
may be 15 secs is enough..
more than that,,repeat the procedures..
first time rooting my X8,,i got the same problem..
wih u luck
try to change User Account Control in windows ( disable it ) , restart windows and try again
root using flash tools is more easy
OK, try one of these things:
1.Run superoneclick/x8toolbox as admin on your PC
2.Use flashtool to root your device
3.if i donsnt respond, just wait for a few minutes, OR keep trying to run the programm
You will get their eventually
finally solved.!
the problem was with the drivers.!
i don't know why but i could do everything with drivers except rooting.!
thanks for replies.!
this is what finally worked for me, very easy.

My phone refuses to root. I've updated to the lasted version, turned on USB debugging and enabled unknown sources

Install PC companion and connect at least once time the device with that

connect phone to pc on charge mode
if you have windows xp you must install manually the x8 drivers(Google
it)
If have windows 7 no need..
when the root is done reboot the phone

Install gordon gates driver just to be sure that they are installed properly
OR
Repair your phone through PC companion or Sony Update Service
And try again the whole steps.
If they don't work try some older versions of SuperOneClick.

It's really hard to help someone who REFUSES to read..
If you don't even know what gordon gate drivers are, this is proof that you have read nothing at all..
My advise is to forget rooting your phone and return to default SE software..
You cannot be helped without doing the minimum of work yourself.. XDA and it's members are not here to babysit you.
Just Try with another pc. I had faced that problem also

I have deleted your duplicate Q&A thread.
Installing Sony's PC Companion will automatically install ADB drivers.
Just download it from the Sony site and install it, then just connect your phone (while it is on) and the drivers should be installed.
Also FlashTool will also install the proper drivers.
Just remember to reboot your PC after install.
And only have 1 program using ADB open at 1 time.
Meaning that if PC Companion is running, it will interfere with flashtool working. They both connect via ADB and only ONE can be connected.
I hope it helps

just to cover the basics is USB Debugging is checked on the device?
And neither PC Companion or flashtools see the device?
Make sure there are no entries for sony in the usb section of the device manager in windows.
If you find some just right click and uninstall
I just found this [TOOL] [WINDOWS] ADB, Fastboot and Drivers - 15 seconds ADB Installer v1.1

i did this yesterday.
downgrade to 534 via flashtool with firmware from here. you can do this without unlocking your bootloader. ta partition will be intact. data will be gone however...
then use kingoroot to root your phone (or whatever you like) and backup your ta-partition. for this you need working adb drivers...
i did the trick with this tool. i've installed the tool, the tool has installed the right adb drivers and then i've removed it. working on win 7 64 bit ultimate
after that you can use this procedure to get a rooted 4.3 firmware.
worked fine for me
really thanks for your reply ill try it today
you are really genius you saved ma day
ive been looking for this **** 3 days and the pdanet saved my ass tanks alot
Only use a usb 2.0 port!
ONLY USE A USB 2.0 PORT - Then start Sony PC Companion and connect your phone just for anyone who like me has just stumbled upon this thread in an attempt to get ADB installed, I just found this to work.

rooting problem ,i can't enter flashmode

hello guys i rooted my xperia z using fastboot tool and i had a problem with it ,when i connect it with the flash tool it connect but the usb debugging is off !!!!!!! , i turn it on but it doesn't work ! , when i try to put the stock framware 4.4.2 .it stops it 0%!!, i used root checker and i found that i doesn't have a proper root access.:crying:i had a backup with sony pc companion but it didn't help , ,also i try SuberSU it tills me that 'ther is no su binary installed and supersu can't install it !! please help me i don't know any thing about root
At first you should check towelroot thread. Its simplest way to get root.
But the flashtool should start from the beginning. close flashtool program, install drivers from \flashtool\drivers. kill all processes that use adb.exe (all instances of adb.exe, pc compagnion in task manager) and start over.
I suggest you check what condition is the usb cable. Once cheap cable was fault of brick my xperia S.
PS. You do not need to have enabled debugging for flashing.

"Guide" root the ZR C5502 from its stock 4.4.4

Hi everyone....
I've created this thread asking for help ... but as my issue is solved, I'd like to share the glory with u ..
The ZR root after the automatic update to 4.4.4 is really tricky ...
this is how i got this minutes ago ..
First of all ….
1- install the ADB-Drivers … There is no ZR drivers,,, so install all the Z drivers to make sure…
U will find a file called "Flashtool drivers" ... the first download in this page ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/guide-how-to-root-10-5-1-0-283-t2872873
2- download the kernels from the post 35#:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zr/general/guide-how-to-root-10-5-1-0-283-t2873841/page4
put it in the folder "Firmware" in ur flashtool folder..
3- Enable the USB-Debugging from the developers options (by clicking the Build-Number many times) so u will have the developers options..
4- connect the device in “Flashmode” by connecting the cable to it while holding the Vol down .
5- run the Flashtool. install the kernel 230.tft using the “Flashmode” without changing anything…
After this ,,, restart ur ZR and root it using “Towelroot” from its website …. Wi-Fi will not work. it is ok....
6- Done? check root (using root checker from the google play) if it is ok turn ur ZR off …
7- connect it again in “Flashmode” and install the kernel 283.tft ….
finished ? restart and everything will work perfect … thanks to the great developers of XDA ..
