Navbar not responding - Motorola Atrix HD

Hi,
1. So i was on xenon HD and started experiencing touch sensitivity issues where in lock screen did not respond or opened up google now instead of unlocking.
2. So I thought of switch over and flashed PAC and was really satisfied as I also got my GPS working. But the very next day it started to behave unusually and the home button of navbar kept on activating all by itself hence taking me out of any app or even app drawer.
Thought of it as ROM issue and decided would flash the latest version sometime later as my net was down.
3. Used liquidsmooth but the same problem of intermittent home button and back button too started and I had to switch off the phone within 5 minutes of flshing liquidsmooth.
4. Finally thought of getting 4.1.2 and hence flashed holoblur. By this time navbar went numb :crying:. Didn't respond to anything.
5. Restored to the stock ROM. But still navbar is not working.
Just hoping that this is not hardware related issue:fingers-crossed:. Would really hate to part away from this phone.
Please help out guys.
EDIT : So the navbar just started responding by itself. But still not perfect. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't.

may be a hardware error, contact your nearest store to fix it, before that flash stock and flash boot logo too, so untill they check the bootloader, they might not know your bootloader is unlocked...

Completely flash a stock fast boot. Issue could be kernel related. If the issue persists after a fully wiped stock flash this is a hardware issue. As is, issue sounds more like either bad settings from dirty flashing or kernel issues. The stock ROMs don't come with kernels, if your last 4.2.2 ROM had a bad kernel, same bad kernel is more than likely being used. I recommend flashing Mex Retail.

Holoblur has a clean full working kernal right?
Sent from my Atrix HD using Tapatalk 4 Beta

The navbar works fine sometimes before again going into madmode. So i really doubt it is a hardware issue.
@Aingaran : Holoblur has custom kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43430196&postcount=131
@skeevydude : I need to follow the instructions mentioned here for stock JB ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226527 OR simply use myth tools to flash the mexican retail rom zip ?
facepalm: for asking this but is there anything else i need to do ?? )

So flashed the stock but same issue. Now the particular strip of the touchscreen where navbar rests has totally become unresponsive. Hence hardware is at fault here.
So flashed PAC ver 23 and using pie controls as of now as a temporary solution. Would try and get it repaired during weekend. @Aingaran : I guess I need to change screen and digitizer. Since you broke yours can you gimme rough idea how much it will cost ?

Yup.. Its just digitizer LCD panel is fine if you get display... And the kit for replacing digitizer cost me 3770 rs... You can search on ebay.in and don't forget to get T5 screw driver and digitizer sticker to stick digitizer to frame...

well, i read all the time how nexus devices are unbrickable and maybe (hopefully) im wrong! so i been running stock rom rooted for a few days actually since yesterday i flashed back to stock and rooted only and flashed cwm recovery thats it. today (actually just a little while ago) i was messing around and was running antutu benchmark with stock then i flashed franco r53 kernel using his auto flash method in his app. no sooner that i started the test in antutu phone went completely black. will not respond to anything. so i said well maybe i can connect usb and get it to go into fastboot so i got lucky (or so i thought) soon as i plugged it in i saw red light at the bottom and battery charging icon. so i press power and volume down and was able to get into fastboot, i was kinda happy about this. i flashed back to stock wiped everything first wipe boot wipe cache wipe recovery wipe system flash bootloader reboot bootloader and flashed the system img and boot img and all that went thru succesfully. but it still will not boot it goes in and out red light battery icon google image. so i tried again flash stock images locked bootloader and fastboot reboot nothing i unplug usb goes straight black screen and wont respond. plug back in get red light and battery icon in and out back and forth between icon and black screen with red light. so i know allot of people get complacent in thinking that because you have a nexus you cannot brick but it is possible to brick this phone. or maybe someone can tell me im wrong. lol anyways just posting this here for people to think twice and not get so comfortable thinking you cannot brick a nexus. tommorow ill take the phone to t-mobile and get another one. and no i wont tell them it was my fault! I read lot about "antutu benchmark" as it's bad for Nexus 4 and cause this problem!.

If it's easy to take back do it. However couple of folks have got it fixed by opening the backplate and disconnecting/reconnecting battery terminals.
Almost 90%+ people having this issue were running Antutu.
Why would you think its a good idea to flash a custom kernel on to stock?
There are tons of threads about this, do some searching your phone is not bricked, also to the poster above me there is nothing wrong with flashing a custom kernel over stock.

Actually that is incorrect, it is not okay. Most Devs will post comparable kernels, or flash your own kernel on to this rom at your own risk on every rom thread op. Stock only supports its own kernel, so while some kernels might work as a stock replacement kernel, it is never a good idea to flash a custom kernel on to a stock rom unless the Dev says otherwise.
This for the help. I'll try this tomorrow morning. Of course I tab a search bit could not find the threads. I hit red light and it took me to legacy phone. I type brick in search fort n4 and nothing. So I never saw those threads about this issue. So thanks. And ive never had a problem with running custom kernels on stock ROM. Never! Lol
Any ways thanks for help! Can moderator close this thread please! Thanks!

Franco R53 is fine on stock - running it here with minimal other changes (I.e. root + email security policy hack)
I've updated every Franco kernel and all seen OK. Perhaps the benchmark related hardware failure is worth looking closely at.
FWIW, if you're back to stock, lock the bootloader and send it back as it sounds hardware to me.

:sigh: No. Franco says his kernel supports the stock ROM. In fact, stock is the standard to test a kernel on. Unless a ROM is created with very specific additions that rely on a custom ramdisk to function, there is nothing wrong with it. Even then, it's not really wrong, you'll just have some missing features.
Charge your phone?
Im pretty sure you get the red light if your device has not enough power to display the screen.. Put your phone on charge through the main plug

This happened to me, except I was bone stock. You need to hold down all 3 buttons at the same time; several times, and then try to get into the bootloader. That's what worked for me. Once you're in the bootloader you can flash the stock image(s) via fastboot.

Holding down the power button for five seconds is the equivalent to pulling the battery, is it not? That is how it has been on other devices with non-removable batteries.

if this is true then why do i need to pull the phone apart and disconnect the battery and reconnect? apparently this is a known issue and has happened to others and taking phone apart and disconnecting battery and rconnecting it fixes the issue. unfortunately i dont have the right tools to do this so i will be taking my phone to t-mobile this morning. thanks for all the help guys. really appreaciate all the responses i got.

That's exactly what I said in my last post. Next time the op needs to clarify if the custom kernel supports stock. But regardless I was correct.

[Q] Display issues after upgrading to Jelly Bean

I have recently upgraded my LG Optimus 4X HD to Jelly Bean, android version 4.1.2, kernal version 3.1.10. I have been receiving some display issues frequently without interacting with the phone. I would like to know if anyone else is having this problem and the solution for this issue.
When the issue occurs, i usually restart my phone so there are no problems with the pixels. I can still interact with my phone normally when this issue occurs as well, but i usually restart it immediately.
Any suggestions?
And thanks for all answers
Maybe you just need to reset your phone from recovery and clear cache partition.. When upgrading from one platform to newer it is wise to go with phone reset, many people do not do this because of bunch of applications and games and they do not have problems or lags or something similar..but rest of the people does.. And maybe is just bad flash, try to reflash..
Hmmm ..but it does not look good..it looks like classical pc vga artifacts from overheated gpu.. ( i do not say that it is! )

I would first try something quick and simple. Try reflashing firmware and if you can do a full factory reset.
Or load up the built in recovery by turning the phone off. Then turning it back on with volume down and power. Release the power when you see the screen come on (keep holding volume down)
In the recovery use the volume keys to highlight the options and power to select.
Highlight factory data reset and then highlight wipe NVpartition. Then reboot

Did you resolve screen issue?
i think anyone will notice that major bug sooner or later with lg's linux kernel 3.1.10
might be triggered by an overheated or overclocked gpu which can result into displaying errors.
i noticed the area around the back camera/lg logo gets very hot and also on the oppsite side on the display.
but it only seems to happen when charging the phone, the graphics chipset is working and you are not using the phone. (but why should the graphics be active when not using the phone/display is off???)
Gesendet von meinem LG-P880 mit Tapatalk 2
Had the same issue with V20, had to roll back to V10H for now. Any updates on resolving the issue?
Thanks
I have tried factory restoring my phone, wiped NVpartition and cache, and the problem still has not been resolved.
The only time when the display does not screw up is when my phone is plugged into my computer. Maybe the battery takes part in this issue as well as the gpu?
I'll try and do something with the kernel and android version after i read up some threads about them because i have no idea on how to downgrade, etc.

Are you suffering from the same problem as i am? LG Optimus 4X HD display issues?
I eventually stopped trying with flashing, etc, and i really do think my graphics card is faulty so i sent it back to Kogan where i bought it from.
They replied that the repairs should take at least 21 days.. looks like im stuck with my old Nokia X6 for the time being.

Back Button Stops Working

Hi
Recently bought the ONE. Sometimes my back button stops responding completely for a while. if i try to press the home button at that time, it works. this happens rarely.
My device is just a few days old so i can easily get it replaced.
I wanted to know if this is a software issue or a hardware issue? If software then i guess it can be easily solved by a ROM flash. Else i should quickly have my device replaced.

If your phone is rooted, then they will not replace it.
So go replace it, safest and best option, you got nothing to lose.
you can always flash a rom after you get a working device.

Problem with my TF701T after rooting

I just rooted my tablet using instructions from several sources here, and have a bit of a problem. I rooted it because of a slightly annoying problem with the touch screen. It worked great 90% of the time, but occasionally I would have to tap an icon a few times for the screen to respond. I have not installed any Rom on it as I decided to keep it stock for the time being. That could change real quick though!! After I rooted it, the problem has increased. I did install several tweaking apps on it (Enterprise ram and digitizer booster, Optimus Root Memory Optimizer, and Entrophy Fixer) and a few games that I had on it before. Removing the digitizer app did no good. The odd thing about it is, I do not notice the touch screen issue if I am playing a game, only when I touch the application icons or links. There does not appear to be any app available to calibrate the screen. Has anybody else had this issue with the 701? Thanks for any help you can provide!!

I may end up trying CM12. I am also getting an error at boot up , "the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" . It does not seem to be causing any problems, but it is annoying nevertheless. Also, this rom is nice, but I see no performance difference between it and stock. I tried that calibration app you linked to, but it does not seem to have done anything. Thanks!

I may actually wait on this after reading the blog. Is there anything that is not working on this at this time? I do not have the dock, so the one limitation listed would not affect me. Would the performance of this rom be better than the Cromix I have on it now?

I doubt it, but doesn't hurt to try. CM12 is in beta though. CROMi-X 7.1 was just released. The "xxx process has stopped" is a bug that will be ironed out soon. You did clean install the rom, did you?
But if you have the same problem on different roms it's unlikely that your touch problem is software related.
To rule out a software problem you should format data and reflash the rom. Format, not just wipe. Which will delete all data on your tablet.
Also try with the microSD out. Bad cards can cause all kinds of weird problems.

Thank you for your response. I was able to fix the process error, but I still ended up putting CM12 on it anyhow! It took me all of 10 minutes and I have had no problems so far. It is very smooth and fast. I did a wipe/format, and a dalvik wipe before I put CM12 on it using CM 6.0.5.1 (I think that is the correct version). Not sure I did that correctly though, since my download folder on the tablet was still intact afterwards. My LCD problem is more than likely hardware, but it is more of an annoyance than anything. It only affects opening up apps. The screen works great in games and just typing.

[Q] Sparkle V WiFi & Camera Problem

Hello,
I wanted to know if you guys are facing the following problems with your sparkle V or android one devices too?
1) The Wifi is stuck on turning on randomly & is fixed only by a restart of the phone. Is this a problem with my handset or android if you guys face the problem too?
2) (Specifically for sparkle V users) on the camera part there is dust accumulating & to be specific before you say that I can remove the back cover & clean it, the dust is inside which can only be cleaned by opening up the phone fully. Should I get a replacement through the service centre?
Please help as I'm worried that my money doesn't go to waste.
Thanks
Running any custom rom? That might be the problem. I'm currently on stock 5.1(rooted and unlocked bootloader) but I'm not facing the wifi problem and neither is dust accumulating in my camera. It might be a problem with your set, so get it checked at the service center.

No I too am on stock ROM & just rooted it. The bootloader is locked
I think I got a defective product. Have you had any experience with karbonn's service centre? Are there any chances they might replace my phone with a new one?
i am also facing the wifi problem on my sparkle V

I submitted my phone today to the service centre & I was blown away. It just took 2 minutes waiting time (i expected around 30 mins) & the technician was very cordial. Although for the dust problem he said that it might be coming from the earphone jack & is a "common problem". He'll clean it for the dust problem & install the software again to fix the wifi problem "LOL". I'll get my phone by tomorrow (another unexpected thing).
Still I gave the phone & hope the problem is gone.
Reflash with stock ROM as no wipe is required..

Go back to stock to stock kitkat and then reflash again, if the problem still persists you may have received a faulty piece. Also try out as many custom roms and see whether they have same issue and making sure its not a hardware problem.

I'll most probably sell it when I receive my phone tomorrow. But still thanks. If it isn't sold in a fair price then I might try the suggestions

Ok so I got my phone & I'm really impressed by Karbonn's service till now, last time my experience with micromax was average as I had to wait for 30-45 mins. just to ask how much would the screen replacement cost.
He cleaned up the dust & flashed kitkat. Till now everything's working fine. Should I upgrade to lollipop as previously when I had WiFi problems I was running the stock lollipop downloaded from the forums.

I think you can download officially on Saturdays from "System updates" . Also, what is the problem with your screen? And yes, lollipop is a little better than the kitkat. Also you can try CM 12.1 as its the best ROM and stable also.

Screen problem was with a MMX phone. I was telling my experience of their service centre.
BTW I've a new problem. The camera makes a click sound whenever I focus through it. Is it too a defect with my phone?
