[Q] Low signal. - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hei bros, i have a problem, a big one, three days ago, my phone (android 4.2.2, gamerzrom v4, no custom kernels) was saying no signal, i did a research, reinsalled stock rom 2.3.6 via odin, but now my signal is very low, 1 or 2 bars from 4, and sometime i have no signal until i do a reboot, same problem with others roms. What can I do for a proper signal?

that problem occur to me when my device got a really high fever, 60-70 celcius usually from overworking while playing online games using 3g or hardmultitasking, cooling off would do da trick, or maybe ur network provider do got a problem on its signal
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium

I stay in the capital of my country, and on streets i have only one bar or two, this happens even on stock 2.3.6.

Did you have good reception before you installed 4.2.2?

And also, which stock rom did you install? Because each stock rom is localised for different countries and therefore hve different modems suited tot those countries. If you installed a 2.3.6 that's different from your home country then that's probably why, because the modem is suited for that other country and not yours
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk HD

On gamerzrom v4, four days ago i had full connection, but after i placed another sim, after reboot it was saying no signal... The stock 2.3.6 was working fine every tine i installed it...but now..

I manage to find a modem for my country, but how i install it? It keep saying this error.

Is the modeom you downloaded a zip file?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk HD

Yes, it's a zip inside a zip. I unzipped I9000XFJV7_I9000OXFJV1_CNX.zip, then in the folder was two files, jv7_jv1_jvq and SS_DLL.dll, and inside jv7_jv1_jvq( witch i didn't unziped) are that files(boot.bin, cache.rfs, modem.bin...)

Hmmm.. Judging by your screenshot you put it under PDA. I'm not entirely sure but I'm pretty sure that's meant to go under Phone instead... But again, I'm not sure...

Easier way to flash GB .kdz

Does anyone know of an easier way to flash the gb baseband than what is shown on this post?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17177547&postcount=2
And does the method on this post also update the baseband?

Yes the second post, the kdz method will flash baseband also. I flashed the kdz and had no problems I was on Win 7 64 when I flashed it.

Alright thanks. I'll try that one when I can then. Just didn't want to do anything stupid already. Lol

Well like I have been saying if you are going to do it make sure you know what you are doing and that you understand every step before you do it. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I think baseband method is harder to set up but so much easier to switch roms with.. takes me 3 to4 minutes to switch between my froyo and gb roms.. or 90 seconds to flash baseband

i flashed the GB KDZ using the second link and it was pretty easy and im a newbie with Android modding. All you have to do is follow the instructions and even if it goes to the bootloop do the power volume down and ed all together and you can erase user data and it will load properly.
Anybody else having a problem downloading from links in second link?
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
yeah it took forever but I finally got the files downloaded but the flash isn't working for me it stops at 6 percent
Colburne is going to tutor me on the fine art of app development and my first project is going to be a 1 click flash baseband. He's been pretty busy but hopefully we'll have time soon to sit down, and I'll start learning, catch on quickly, and come out with something.

Installing Ubuntu on SGS+

Has anyone tried installing ubuntu with this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zpwebsites.ubuntuinstall&hl=en
Would it be too laggy to use? And is it even possible with our device, ppl have got it working with s2.
Requires:
Root yep
1GHZ processor (recommended) (dunno if this is men´t to be dualcore?)
Android 2.1 or higher yep
Kernel will loop device support (this is included in most custom ROM's) what?
SD card with at least 3.5GB of free space for large image (2.5GB for small image) yep
Data connection on your device yep
Ext2 file system support yep?
Anyway if this actually works, I could imagine that best ROM to use this with would be CM9 or AOSP? According to description in the app this should run on top of your basic android so, I would modify very lightweight ROM for this only with couple core apps, and you could just do backups and switch from ubuntu rom to your main rom and back Would be really nice to use Open-office with this.
This guy who had S2 gived this feedback in app:
Carl on May 22, 2012 (Version 3.0.1)
Best app I have ever had
Very impressed. Running the full image file and works well. Tho it is a little laggy opening apps (to be expected). Once firefox loads, browsing the web is on par with my default phone internet app. Can't wait to hook up a TV, mouse and keyboard. Great stuff!! I have a Galaxy S2 with stock rooted gingerbread.
Would be cool on a tablet, but hey, at a 4" screen?!
Still bigger than Iphone´s

Seen that, but when its going to be released ?

[Q] [i9001] music player problem

I have a problem with any music player app on my phone. When i play a song on the background, and the song ends, the number which tells how long the music allready is playing, keeps raising, EVEN WHEN THE SONG HAS ENDED. So the number which tells how long the song is playing becomes higher than the number which tells how long the song should take. And while the number raises, i dont hear anything, which is very annoying. Get it? And this wont stop until i push the "next" button.
Now on cm9. I tried apollo (obvious), sony Ericson walkman port i just found the other day ( very neat but same problem) and tried third party app from app store (doubletwist). All same
problem

Which type of music files do you have? Maybe there is an incompatible format.
Try different formats (mp3 with tags are the best) or try to flash another Rom? I got that bug in the past too, but after flashing through some Roms it's all good now.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
To bad, i liked this rom. But first i didnt have this bug. Just suddenly it appeared.
Anyway, i'll reflash this rom and hope for the best.
Edit: i forgot to say that I have lots of different types of music files, tried them all, all same problem

Which Rom do you use right now? Maybe you should try Slim Rom, got my best cm9 experiences with that Rom but Donno if it is available for 9001.

I had THE SAME PROBLEM on ParanoidAndroid 1.6b, and don't know why it's caused. Maybe a bad ROM installation?

Did read about that. If i'm not mistaken it came with one of the camera updates. But afaik it was resolved by another update.
Maybe try flashing latest version.

How to get native tethering on any ROM

cruzin_cruzing said:
Any build should support Wifi tethering. WildChild's Illumunati Generic ROM supports it natively, but if you would like to do so manually on any build including stock, please follow these instructions:
-You will need SQLite Editor from the market, a paid app
-Go to Dialer Storage, then select telephony.db
-Select carriers, then scroll down to Numeric 310410
-Next change the value "apn" from broadband to pta
