[EVERYONE READ] Desire C and Development For it! - HTC Desire C

Hey Guys!
Please note that all things discussed in this thread should be related to development, ideas, constant updates on progress and should not be filled with "Someone Make This" or "Any News", any of this i will request be deleted by mods, if we had News We'd give it to you, if you want something done, do it yourself

Okay, So as some of you may have noticed, Development started off slow for our humble Desire C, it has peaked recently, and has no died down again, i wont be releasing anymore Roms for this device and will end up no longer supporting my Roms or this device! Development is dead!
HOWEVER:
The Device does still have work to be done, and this is a thread to bring each member of the Desire C community together, it should help the device get a little more development (by those who are motivated to do so), come here with all your problems, errors, and SOLOUTIONS for Bugs. Not " can you fix this "
THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ON TOPIC AT ALL TIME!
Okay so now what?
Well, if you are interested on how to develop for this device, but just don't know how, search for a tutorial, and post errors here, team up and create themed roms if you must, but you can't let this little device just die out! If it came to it, the whole community could each come up with a super Rom for the Desire C!
Thanks are mandatory, if someone post constructively, thank it, it's generosity that entices devs, thanks=Motivation, Motivation=Progress!
So Pull together and get this development up and running! Come on guys, if someone has a super fast computer they can use to develop on, team up with someone who has the know how and build!!! Come on guys, i wanna see constructive discussions and teamwork here! i'm trying to pick this device back up, SO COME ON!!!!!!
AND REMEMBER TO RESPECT AND THANK EACHOTHER, IF I SEE A POST THAT ISNT THANKED BY AT LEAST ONE PERSON I SHALL NOT BE HAPPY!

Hey,
I have already pm'd a few on here.
I have a "spare" desire c and am willing to test anything. I have a little knowledge of adb and am currently reading through all I can about development.
I will help in any way I can.

This is a good idea.
Once I have my new beasty PC I will be developing casually. Any help is very much appreciated. This thread should get stickied!

We understand this Speed_bot, however the theme created would then be posted in themes and apps, but progress is progress! And no offence to you @aman23091998 but iv'e already made an Xperia Z Rom so theres no point having two, that's not progress.. And it's a little annoying that, i made cm10 with crt, then you did, iv'e made an Xperia z rom, and now you must? Make something different, in the way of progress?? prehaps your own creation? Or look at other popular roms from other devices and make a port of a decent looking rom? Or find some apks and build your own custom ROM? I'm sure you would get help from the creator of Darkbreed with theming and png editting!
Progress is expansion, new android versions, Different Roms, not variations of one Rom! I think this is one of the reasons development flops on this device!

Why not try decompiling the systemui.apk and editting EVERYTHING, not just colour but the .pngs, and see what happens, if it turns out good, swap some launchers and mms.apk, and make a themed AOSP Rom

The Missing Rom, Sense 1, 2,3 are more than just HTC's UI. They are the way we Interact with our Incredible. As i write this There are Dev's and Dev teams making great strides on what they feel will be the greatest ROM. I have spent many years working on car project only to find that I am never happy with it. A good projects are never finished. With all the Sense rom's you get flavors of sense. With the senseless roms you get no Sense. With this rom you get some Sense and Launcher Pro. I have removed everything that doesn't work with Launcher Pro.
This is my first shot at a Rom, I plan to continue learning and devolving.
Sense widgets gone
Battery draining apps gone
Rom zip file is less than 110 MB
Sense clock and calander still there
camera works
If you want apps install them, the market is full.
Thanks to Jakresge, and every Dev. on this site.

I request to have this thread removed. No offense to the OP - but adding a different launcher and some other minor tweaks does not justify a ROM.
Thank you for your creativity and time spent on your project though.

Give it a chance guys. What have all sense 1 roms done? Changed little from stock? Exactly.
Youre looking at a crackflashing troll with ORD
No offense either bud. Its just... well... how exactly did you create "your ROM" on your phone?
Did you do a nand and then expect people to flash your back-up?
I don't understand what your doing or why. Normally ROM development takes place on a computer with some knowledge of how things work in these ROMs so we can make them better. And to make them more appealing to the other users of these forums or whoever.
Simply installing Launcher Pro or whatever else does not meen you have created a ROM. You have just installed Launcher Pro to a ROM, that is all.
However, if you would like to get into "real" ROM development there are a many valuable tools and resources in theses very forums to help you get started. Not to mention the devs that roam around here as well that would more than likely be willing to pull you to the side and help you out, provided you just ask them.
I want you to pay attention to this next part ok? The name of this website is called xda- wait for it... wait for it... "DEVELOPERS" yup, xda-developers. Not xda-I installed launcher pro to some craptastic ROM and I expect people to actually use it.com
Until then friend, maybe you should try something else.
Done.

It's not just that but if you remove rosie, why not all HTC widgets, etc?
This is literally deleting one APK and pasting another in its place.

A little harsh but funny. Gotta give the guy props for having the balls to post it. I myself made many kitchen built ROMs for personal use and never dared post them. Appears to me that many of the custom ROMSs here are just kitchen builds so what one more?

Actually no. No offense bud but I don't think any of the seasoned devs on here use the kitchen to "build" a ROM. All the devs I work with manually port our ROMs peice by peice. Less error in the long run. The only reason I have ever used the kitchen is to deodex, zipalign and sign. I don't even hardly use it for that anymore. 9 times out of 10 the kitchen is not capable of doing the things that we do to our ROMs.
Never ment to crush dreams or whatever with my first response, I just think if we are going to do something that makes changes to or effects other peoples devices we should take the time and do it right.

Does that mean you didn't flash it? We all start somewhere. I did not mean to insult anyone. But there is a gap in the Rom selections. I like some of the sense apps that you lose when going senseless. I also don't like the button layout of sense. And the battery draining sense widgets. That is what I have done filled a hole

Good to know that your building your own ROMs. Its hard to tell from all thats posted who to trust as a dev and who's just a hack. No offense to the op. CaptainKrtek had a post in the Eris forum last year about what it takes to be a real dev here, wish I could find it again had some good info in it.
I will update my op I was more/less saying that I am new to this kinda thing and don't call myself a developer like a nurse doesn't call themselves Doctor, or a drafter doesn't call themselves an engineer.

If you really want to be a dev then start hanging out in chef central. The advice I had originally said came form captainkrtek actually was from cyanogen. I read it over a year ago when I was playing with dsixda's kitchen and thought of posting my own ROM. I posted a link below as I think its appropriate. Not sure why our dev section here isn't as nice as the Eris forum, they have a lot more info over there and being a former Eris owner I miss it.

Looking for tips on cooking my own ROM

Hi,
I just got my XT860, the GSM version of DROID 3. I have tried some ICS roms like CM9, AOKP and even the new KEXEC one. Sadly for me none of them have support for video camera... the hardware codec drivers are missing, and that's a show stopper for me.
So I'm sticking with the official gingerbread ROM but I want to customize it a little so I feel more confortable with it.
I need guidance on how to deodex/zipalign it so I can remove all of motorola's bloatware and change some things like the launcher to the one I like, I also want to change the loading screen to a customized one, change the phone's theme (I *need* those xperia arc icons badly, theyre just gorgeous!). Oh, I also would love to know how to make the rom be compatible with hashofcode's safestrap.
I searched trough many topics on those subjects but I didn't find much information so any help is apreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for taking your time to help me.
I have read the first topic u linked before posting, but it says thats for HTC devices and information on adding support for other devices is either really vague or i`m too dumb to understand. Propbably the latter.
I honestly have no idea.
Are you fluent in any coding languages? If you don't know anything then making a rom is pretty far away.

That and google. Apks arent usually manufacturer dependant, though it depends on the app. Instructions can always be followed and tweaked, you dont have to s-off etc... Google will help you though or you could just rip them out of a pre-existing rom and repackage.

[Request] Dark Jelly CM10.1

I've put in a request to XXMrHyde for a port of his Dark Jelly CM10.1 rom to the Galaxy i9305. His options and theming are mindblowing. Not sure if he'll do it so maybe some support here may tilt the scales in our favour! Or... if someone has the skills maybe we can have it ported ourselves with his permission
Loads of happening screenshots here
If you've already asked him, then what's the question?

He doesn't own a S3 or S3 LTE so he says it's not worth him porting it because he cannot maintain it. So the new question is: if there anyone reading this with the mad skills to port this rom, and who likes it enough to want to port it... well, that would be awesome! It'd be a neat addition to the AOSP-based roms popping up on this forum this year.
no one cares, sorry. someone might port it if they like it a lot

I've made a post in that forum as-well.
I also posted. I don't use the First as my main device but more as my go-to backup phone while I'm trading and/or buying my main devices. Having CM would be another reason for me to want to continue to hold on to the First as my backup phone.
i posted, i dont think much action will be taken though.

maybe we can hook him up with the phone...by donations, and work will go much faster, but for now he will have to work off of screenshots and communication with us...the comunity

[Q] Custom themes for xperia devices?

Hello everyone, so recently I've been looking for custom themes for my xperia.. The official ones found on Google play simply no longer cut it for me. But even with the combined efforts of the mighty Google search and search on this forum I managed to only find a few.
So my question is, are there any websites that contain lists, collections or packs of themes for xperia?
Thanks in advance for answers.
Xperia themes support starts about two months ago or something?
And is not easy to make like old SE phones (sadly)
so there's no good themes at all at this moment.... the better ones need Superuser mod.. and I think (personally) @niaboc79 has made the better ones... but just three xD
So wait or learn to make it xD

I know the support for themes launched only recently i guess i was just hoping there would be more people who would create custom ones, even though it's not a simple process.
Though i suppose you're right, i either need to be patient and wait or learn how to create themes and do it myself ;D.
