[GUIDE]How to port Cm7 roms - Galaxy Ace S5830i General

How to port Cm7 based roms
Guys, as i did a port of Reincarnation to s5830i, i received some PM questioning how to port. But i'll tell you, i take zero (0) credits on method. I used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2276871. Even so, it still needs some changes in build.prop for making the rom usable. So, i decided to make a guide about it.
Things needed:
bieltv.3 RC1 build
rom you'll port
Rom porter tool by mnishamk
Notepad++
Okay, here are the steps:
1.Enter "Start porting rom"
2.Enter "Cyanogen Based"
3.Drag the base rom (bieltv.3 RC1) and press enter
4.Drag the port rom and press enter
5.Press enter until you see "editing build.prop file"
6.Enter "GRI40"
7.Enter "GINGERBREAD"
8.Press "1" and press enter
9.Enter just numbers, with the version of your rom (like for SGS3 V5, should be entered 5.0)
10.Enter CyanogenMod version (7.2)
11.Enter "21"
12.Enter "14"
13.Enter the name of the rom
14.Wait 'til it finishes compressing
15.Close the tool.
16.Extract rom in OUTPUT folder
17.Enter build.prop
18.In build.prop, do this changes:
18a: Change every "cooper" to "cooperve"
18b: Change S5830 to S5830i
18c: Change "system.prop for XXXXX" until "ADDITIONAL_BUILD_PROPERTIES" to this:

It is always better to have more roms

Good guide!It would be better for porting CM7 ROM based on biel's CM RC Version.I will try porting NIghtlyfourE1 again and as Sniper said it would have a flood of CM ROM.
edit:Now NFe1 is stable.

Sniper, if this guide is followed correctly it will result in a bugless port. Having bugless cm roms is nice, right?

Lol I port manually, without using any additional software. Only Total Commander, Notepad++ and apktools. :laugh:

I port that way, like i did with Miui cream and CoD rom. I used this software to port only the Reincarnation Rom. When you ported LeWa rom, did you face any trouble with phone.apk?

Fortunately, no... I port it manually... at all users 4pda are operated manually or using almost no services, it reduces the chances for error to 1%.

Yea..Porting manually gives less errors.(Based on experience) certain phone.apks give error...Find another one from some other build.

Yes, of course, I think it is so much easier.

Manual porting could be beneficial.
Maybe you could add some lines in OP about manual porting, just a suggestion! :good:

if only we could port kernels T.T

I havent tried it as i only have the GT-P7500
Just saw the same thing. I have the GT-P7510, but haven't tried it yet. Would love a already rooted stock ROM that I can flash with Odin
New bootloader is included.
BOOTLOADER_P7510XWKH8_CL519295.tar.md5
I don't flash it; scary because locked bootloaders
Like it every rom is smoother

Update superuser with the market and the SU binary with superuser.
And download busybox from the market (busybox installer)
I downloaded and tried to extract the system.img for more information but couldn't mount it. Could someone post a build.prop? Would be awesome

Edit: I was confused about this version and the one I tried for real (XXKH3). Sorry
I tried it already and went back to uekme, the rom was super fast and snappy but the font smoothing has been changed and fonts look like ****... too bad.
For those who are curious, the fonts are thinner, smaller, and super fuzzy, I thought I needed some new glasses !!!
I'm sure they changed the font smoothing technology because of some lingering patent war between them and apple, forcing them to turn to some other smoothing techno.
Makes me afraid for the upcoming updates which will be coming one day or the other.
Maybe Ice Cream Sandwich will have fuzzy fonts on the Galaxy Tab

I'm sorry guys, I was a bit too quick, I double checked and the one I flashed was from August 28th, namely XXKH3, it is about the same batch, but it is not THIS rom I flashed, so I cannot judge about the fonts on this rom.
Again, sorry.
PS: I'm downloading this one as I type this, so I can see for myself !

Could you also post a stock deodexed and rooted version? That would be really appreciated.
Is there a changelog posted anywhere?
Just flashed and it is running smooth. Feels faster than any of the other roms available (previously running Paris v4 with pershot kernel oc'd to 1.3). I did not flash the new bootloader though. Odin'd the latest overcome recovery and flashed the root package in recovery and so far so good.

It seems that Przekret is faster then me when it comes to up and downloading. I actually found this update by trying different CSC codes and it got automatically published on check fus.
It's the same US Wifi only update that was released today.
Has anyone tested this with pershoot's kernel and will the "regular" root zip still work?
Is a pit file needed when flashing with Odin?

Upload failed I'll try again in the AM.
Link is up guys enjoy. Should work. Idk I uploaded with tether so if it was bad again I'll wait till I'm home tonight and use real wifi.
Working well for me. Thank you.
EDIT: Argh... the download kept grinding to a halt after 50Mb or so. I kept restarting it and eventually got it downloaded but there is a MD5 mismatch. Trying again.
EDIT 2: I downloaded again, this time without errors... BUT I got the same MD5 as previously 8008d0db30f377c441630f81edeac21f. Is this actually correct?
I'm going to flash it anyway (Life is nothing without an adventure)
EDIT 3:

I guess I had better have my adventure tomorrow
im going to try and make my first custom rom with this, thanks for your hard work.
Read above you. The file is broken and needs to be re-uploaded.
When will it be uploaded. Wasted lot of time trying to install. Waiting for fresh upload.

I think you got a bad downlo. Check the md5 and they afain.

You shouldn't be flashing this in odin.. This is to flash in a custom recovery.

His not alone i downloaded this 5 times then on the 6th time i used md5 check program that i have it does match your md5 checksum but when i flash it in cwm it gives the status 7 error..
When I try to flash in Recovery it comes up "Starting AROMA INSTALLER version 2.0" then I get a error. My current rom in omega and did wipe data/factory reset and also formatted system, data, cache and rebooted recovery. Also reflashed recovery, same message comes up.

it was the file downloaded from samfirmware that i was flashing with odin not your file. it looks like the original file is corrupt as odin complains about the md5 not matching
Where is the description of the ROM? What's good about this ROM? Reason I ask is I'm looking for a good UK based Rom, are you going to do any tweaking and enhancing ;-)

Hi, yes I can send the installation instructions but today it is nothing more, tomorrow (sometime) ... I post only the install instruction for the xLoud & Bravia Engine without the batchscript for init.d support. I send Faria the batchscript and he will included the init.d files in his next rom update.

Edit: I post in the next 2 hours the instruction with files (zip).

xLoud & Bravia Engine by XxXPachaXxX
Search in google for this zip " XxXPachaXxX_Sony_ICS_pack.zip " and extract this zip on your micro sd-card. Then start a root file manager and open/edit your build.prop in the system folder with a text editor and add these lines for xLoud & Bravia Engine:
Code:
#Xloud Engine Service
nro.semc.sound_effects_enabled=true
nro.semc.xloud.supported=true
npersist.service.xloud.enable=1
#
#Bravia Engine Service
ro.service.swiqi.supported=true
persist.service.swiqi.enable=1
" build.prop before leaving store " and delete the build.prop.bak. The permission for the build.prop is r-w-r-r . Then copy and paste all files in the specified folder. Permissions must be set manually!
The folder playcert in the XxXPachaXxX_Sony_ICS_pack.zip is unimportant for the xLoud & Bravia Engine Hack.
Once these steps are completed perform a reboot and it should work . Should questions arise, I will help very much further and I hope I could help with this mod.
I send all my credits for this mod to " XxXPachaXxX " !
Optional - more build.prop tweaks - incrase performance, scroll speed and more. Open/edit your build.prop in the system folder with a text editor and add these lines:

"Meltus" is one of the Android hackers from WAY back when the HTC Dream was still the brand-new iPhone killer who came up with the original volume hacks.

Hi,
I lives in france and so i have a volume limit inbuilt on my S3 mini GT-I8190 due to the european law.
I found a tuto for the S3 (at mobilenewspedia) and try to apply it to the S3 mini but i didn't found the default_gain.conf file.
Is your mod a way to disable the european limit ?
Thanks

Some editing in build.prop and you just have to on the aeroplane mode and back to normal mode n you get data ( you have to do it just once, not 3 to 4 times)
Steps :
1. Root the cm12 rom
2. Install any root Explorer or build.prop editor
3. Copy the following in build.prop (don't delete the things that are in it by default)
4. Save and exit
5. Reboot
