Amazon buyers are getting theirs, what about us Google Play buyers? - Google Chromecast

Next day shipping for some, not even a tracking number here. Did anyone get a Netflix code if you bought with Google Play?

I bought 4 of them. 1 from Google Play and 3 from Amazon. One of the Amazon ones I paid $3.99 (I have Prime) to get it today. It came this morning and I've been rocking ever since. Ironically, I bought the one from Google Play first and it says expected arrival is August 4th. I'll have the other two from Amazon tomorrow. The one from Google Play cost more for shipping than the overnight one from Amazon.

I got the 3-5 business day shipping which bumped the price to 45. I thought Google only takes out the money when it ships? Right now, it says my order is pending. Did you get any info for the free Netflix?
Seems since I ordered it on the 24th at 9PM EST, I won't be able to get my own Netflix code :/

No word on Netflix from Google or Amazon.

Just got off the phone with GP Support that the code will be sent when it ships, and that the event actually ended 1 AM of the 25th, so that's a sigh of relief

Amazon cutoff for Netflix was July 24 5:31pm PST. If you ordered before that time, you'll get the code via email. If you ordered afterwards, you're SOL.

Ordered mine from Google Play on the 24th, a few minutes after the announcement. I just got the email saying it's been shipped. Hopefully will have it tomorrow.

Ordered mine during announcement on Play store, shipped out that night via UPS Ground, delivered yesterday.
Got Netflix code yesterday morning. I had to use Firefox to redeem, Chrome was throwing a too many redirects error.

I ordered mine in the evening on the 24th from Amazon and I don't even have an estimated shipping date. No big deal, I don't really need it right away. I want to see if it will be a good replacement for the laptop I have dedicated to my TV now.

I ordered mine from bestbuy, and it should be in next week either Monday or Wednesday

I got an email from Google at 1:35am this morning that mine has shipped. The tracking is via UPS but the tracking number starts with a 9 not a 1Z which means that UPS will hand it off to USPS. Looking at the tracking shows that UPS hasn't received yet.
Edit: About 10 minutes after I made this post I got an email from Google with my Netflix 3-month gift code. Bravo, Google!
Edit 2: I redeemed my gift code with a couple of clicks and sure enough Netflix credited $23.97 to my account.
The Chromecast is fantastic at $35. For $11 it's spectacular!

Ugh! I live in SoCal. My tracking shows it's shipping from La Vergne, Tennessee. Estimated arrival is Wednesday.
When Amazon shipped the three I bought from them it came from Ontario, California, about a half hour drive from me.
Google isn't a retailer, that's for sure.

Ordered one from Google Play Wednesday right after the conference. Said it would ship by July 27 at the time. That night I received shipping confirmation and also got an email with the Netflix link:
Welcome to Chromecast.
Enjoy 3 months of Netflix on us and start casting.
Hi xxxxxx,
Your Chromecast is on its way.
After setting it up, you can start casting from Netflix and other apps to your TV using your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Netflix has thousands of movies and TV shows, and Chromecast is the easy way to watch all of it on your TV.
Redeem your 3 months of Netflix to use on a new or existing account by clicking the link below.
Bought the 2nd air option and it says out for delivery to arrive today. In the mean time, they showed up as available for my local best buy store, so I bought one there for in store pickup which I got this morning. The Netflix code for that one was emailed right after I picked it up in store.

I received mine today from Google Play. But I did not receive any Netflix codes bought during announcement. I called Google they said to contact Netflix, called Netflix they told me Google had to give it to me. Called Google back they had to open a support ticket, they didn't know who to contact. But it does work as really good just wish I had my Netflix code to break it in

I ordered mine off Play Store two days ago and opted for the most express shipping option (was only +$6 but yeah, doesn't compete with Prime). I just got it a couple of hours ago and been messing with it a bit at work.
Unfortunately it's very fickle about WiFi. It doesn't like all the WiFi APs/Repeaters we have and gets stuck trying to connect to office wifi (or some other router/firewall settings here).
I did manage to configure it by connecting it and my phone to my Verizon MiFi card.
Very disappointed I can't seem to broadcast my Chrome browser off my phone/tablet -- just off the desktop???

That sucks. I got my NetFlix code from Google within a day, about the same time they sent me the shipping notice. You probably hit the cut-off.
As someone who's worked for Google, good luck dealing with their customer service We once had a teammate's GMail backend completely break on him and we contacted the GMail/SRE team (we were also SREs) and they told us to GTFO and go through official channels, as if we weren't employees. Needless to say, the productivity of one of my coworkers was unnecessarily hampered for about a week. I think he ended up looking at server logs and debugging it himself, discovering that the instance running his GMail was in some sort of crash-loop.

Saturday now, gonna have to wait until Monday for any new updates :/

I ordered mine through the play store during the event, email said it would ship August 2nd, and I got an email at 5 this morning saying it shipped. No netflix code though

To those who rejected their parcel - refunds?

Hi guys,
I know a fair few of us have rejected their parcels because we were unable to cancel orders via Google Play.
My order was returned to Computer 2000 (in the UK) and signed for by them on the 19th, however to date I have received no communication from them and no refund.
Have any of you that have rejected your parcels received your refund or any other communication from Google?
Thanks,
Chris

I never actually received mine as they messed up address label and TNT refused to let me tell them full address and then returned it before I had chance to go to depot to collect. I emailed Google at this point (through order page) on 20th and parcel was signed for by Computer 2000 on 24th so I emailed Google again on 27th, having heard nothing, and have no reply yet. I have managed to pick up a Nexus 7 in Curry's in the meantime so just want my money back.

Not great is it? Mine's been with them for 10 days now (weekend included) and I'd expect to have at least received an acknowledgment e-mail to say they'd received for the parcel.
Chris
Mine has also been back with Google for over a week and no word. If my phone call to them is in event full I will just file a claim with my bank.

Yes I too am having problems getting a refund they have had mine back for a week this can't be write they better get my money back soon or gonna speak to my bank.
Just phoned Google... They will not consider even looking at my case until the 8th August passes. Considering they received it back on the 19th July, I'd call it appalling service.
At least Amazon and the like acknowledge receipt of a returned parcel - Google's complete lack of communication has ruined the customer experience. I'll never order anything direct from them again.

16gb google nexus 7.
Same situation here. I might just log a request with the credit card company anyway, force them to act.
I only actually got charged 4 days after my delivery refusal had returned to the depot somewhere in leicester (this was a separate charge to the other three or four pending charges that had fallen off my credit card) . I spoke to someone last Friday who said it would be sorted ASAP, he said it was the first time he had seen this happen, but nothing done since.
I got one from GameStop on the first day they were available. Google received my pre-order back on the 19th. I called Google & they said it could take up to 14 days to process the returned order & issue a refund. Still waiting...

You have to be refunded within 30 days of you notifying of the order cancellation, regardless of whether you have returned item or not.

I am in the US and I refused the delivery about a week ago. I had ordered a case with it and still haven't gotten the case. Back before I had refused the shipment I had sent an email about being able to keep the case and just send the Nexus 7 back. But then I found a different case and decided I would just refused it all. Well then they split the order and the case is in limbo somewhere I guess. Anyway, I got an email a coupel of days ago with RMA instructions for the Nexus 7. It was in response to my question about opening the package and taking out the case. So I sent them back the tracking numbers what showed the refused delivery and acceptance back at the shipping origin. I also asked if they could just not send the case that is still pending and just issue me my refund. I haven't heard back.
It was easy to refuse delivery, I have the free MyUPS service. When I got the package shipment notification from UPS I went in and had them hold it at the location. Since I probably wouldn't be home when it was delivered I would have had to drive it there anyway. There wasn't any option to refuse. It seemed the day before or maybe it was the day it was it the location I looked at the delivery options and there was a "Refuse" option. I chose that and they sent it back. Didn't have to drive out of my way to the UPS location or anything. I plan on doing the same if they ever send me the case.

But it's not a cancelled order. You rejected their shipment. They can take as long as they please to "process it"
And for those of you thinking of filing with your credit card company or bank: good luck. Banks and credit card companies are notorious for providing extremely slow assistance for disputed claims. They will likely go to the retailer and give them like 60 days or something insane like that to respond before they do anything.
contact number for Google (UK)?
Sounds like I am just one of many who is experience a total lack of service or concern from Google?
TNT didn't manage to show up when I was home and wasn't allowed to deliver to the neighbour (although the package my misses got from TNT the same day was dropped off just fine); TNT failed to bring out the package when I arranged for redelivery (5 days after the initial drop-off) and only other option would have been a Saturday delivery, which turned out to be a no-go due to the Olympics (yes, I am located smack in the middle of London .. "yay").
Had no option but refuse delivery and have so far heard NOTHING!
Over the course of the last week I have used the google wallet email form 5 times and not received ANY response; I have tried the phone number on top of the page twice and gotten a fax/modem (+353 (1) 436 1001).
I am at this moment beyond pissed!
ANYONE have a valid (UK) number to contact these people?
I would have expected A LOT better service from a company like Google, but when (if?) I ever get my £209 back, I guess they've thoroughly proven to me that I'll be better off with an iPad - by the time the 7" iPad will be on the market anyway.
Oh well *sigh*

A caution to UK Play Store buyers

Just a cautionary note to would-be device buyers from the Play Store - my girlfriend has had a dreadful experience trying to buy me a 16GB Nexus 7. The order was placed on the 8th to be delivered 'within 2 days'. They messed her around until the 16th, blaming the courier for 'not receiving the order correctly' (which was a load of nonsense according to TNT, the courier in question) and that other UK customers who ordered on the 8th had suffered similar issues. At this point she gave up, told them to cancel the order and purchased a 32GB N7 from Carphone Warehouse. Funnily enough, despite this, the status changed from 'order placed' to dispatched and they attempted to deliver the device originally ordered on the 20th. We declined the delivery, but still haven't received a refund. She's just on the phone to TNT again who are actually being very helpful and have confirmed the device has been returned, which Google claim is untrue. Still in limbo...
I'm sure most people who order from them will have no issues, but bear in mind when ordering from them that they have no UK contact and you're stuck dealing with a useless, rude US-based telephone team who have the ability to do naff all except sprout the same corporate bullish*t about their refunds process. You have no comeback from Citizens Advice or trading standards as there is no entity in the UK to list and the telephone support people will not give a UK trading address!
in the us it takes between 6-8 weeks to get a refund from google.. This is only after the 14 days you must wait before they will even talk to you. Keep on them or they will just keep putting you off.. It takes forever...
On a slightly different track, is TNT the worst carrier ever? They have NEVER succeeded in making a delivery to my home. Every time I find by checking tracking they have supposedly failed to find my home and I have to personally collect, a round trip of fifty miles. Maybe I am at the limit of their delivery radius and the drivers just can't be arsed. Taking into consideration shipping and this journey, it sure made my Nexus 7 a heck of a lot more expensive than if I just bought it on the high street.
Sadly not true of the Nexus 4 which is only available at a rip off price on the high street.
I'm glad my order with the UK Playstore, for a 3G Nexus 7, was processed and delivered without a hitch.

Anyway I digress, I ordered the 3 of them at the same time Friday night just before 8pm, paid a couple of quid upgrade for a Saturday delivery next morning 7:30 Parcel Force knocking on the door with them, less than 12 hours, it does not get much better than that

From experience of buying n7 and being unable to buy n4 I find nothing that would make me recommend buying from play store.
Getting n4 from cpw even with the premium just because play store sucks so much.

Netflix promo - Amazon orders

I ordered my Chromecast on launch day from Amazon, and I got the confirmation e-mail at 1:48 PM Pacific Time. I wish I had taken a screenshot when I added it to the cart, as it still listed the Netflix promo.
Anyway the order shipped the same day but no Netflix code. I have a support ticket open with Amazon but they still haven't been able to resolve it. They are not sure whether I qualify.
So I just wanted to check - did anyone who ordered Chromecast from Amazon get the Netflix promo as promised? If you did (or did not), please report here and give the date/time/time zone of your first order confirmation e-mail.
I ordered mine yesterday at 3:48pm CT and didn't get an email with the Netflix code. I remember reading somewhere that we have to wait a few days before we get the email.

I read that Best Buy and Google Play purchases of the Chromecast yielded a promo code upon shipping (or in-store at BB).
I ordered from Amazon, and no code yet. I think if you ordered yesterday, then you are fine. Today, not so much.
I have a support ticket in with amazon, I'll keep you updated with anything I learn

When I placed the order, it showed the item in stock and not the pre-order button. My friend who bought one about 30 minutes sooner than I did (also from Amazon) had his ship out a few hours earlier today than mine did.
Amazon told me that the Netflix code should arrive by e-mail one week after the dongle ships out.
Best Buy is still apparently giving 3 free months of NetFlix when you buy a Chromecast, at least according to their website they are.
I bought my Chromecast at BestBuy at like 9pm last night and still got the Netflix code, which I activated the code around 1am this morning. So it still seemed to be working as of this morning.
Ordered my chromecast (2 actually) from google play. Once they shipped I received a separate email with the two Netflix codes. They say you can apply the code to a new or existing account. But it also says lower in the email that only one promotional code is valid per Netflix account. Guess I will have to create one new account and cancel after the three months.

Same here, right down to the 2 units. LOL. I wonder if you can apply the code to an existing account? You could open a new account with the one month free trial, apply the code and then get 4 months.
I just picked one up at Best Buy and they still have the Netflix deal going. Just got my promo code by email.
How does this work if you already have a Netflix account? I currently have a 2 dvd & streaming account. Will they take it off my next bill?
I'm trying to figure out how I would see this discount?

You go into Netflix's "Your Account" and in the "Redeem gift or special offer" box you put in the code and it will give you a credit of 23.97. I'm pretty sure the free 3 Months is only counting the online streaming, but I only have online streaming so I could be wrong.
quite disappointing, i hope this isnt true!

No Bose headphones for orders after the 14th October

Well that sucks! Managed to get mine due to early order date, but seems others are unable to claim if they ordered during the 15th October up until the 19th. The Terms and Conditions on the Google Store state that orders between the 30th September and 19th October qualify for the offer, but if you call the offer claim help number only orders placed up until the 14th qualify.
This is just wrong! Especially when the retailers were still advertising the offer and it still clearly states up until the 19th October on the Terms and Conditions.
Hopefully everyone got there orders in and were able to get their claims in successfully. I know of a few out there who are very angry at this point in time. Surely they can't change it now?
Just out of curiosity Is anyone else affected by this at all?
Wow that's terrible. Just tried to claim mine today as it's now been 14 days since my order. It's says the purchase date isn't valid! How can I get this sorted?

You're right, the claims line says the phone must have been purchased before 14th October whereas everything else says 19th October. Purchased mine on the 16th which is why it's rejecting it.

If you get get someone from/representing Google to put this in writing, you might be able to get some press attention - but most tech journalists don't really care what happens outside the US, unfortunately...
This promotion was managed very poorly from the beginning.
Why the Headphones wasn't in the order with the phone, if I bought them directly on the google store? Why make me apply with a screenshot of the order from the same website?
Hope you sort it out, this is very unfair.

The promotion isn't managed by Google - it's being run by a company called Opia who run sales promotions like pre-order rewards and discounts for a bunch of companies, while the Google Store is run by "Google Commerce Limited" of Dublin...
Presumably it's easier for Google to farm this sort of thing out and not have to worry about handling things like validation and customer service themselves.
Mine didn't work at 7am when put in the 15th Oct but tried again and it's been submitted and accepted.

I suspect it was just bug - like when for a while Vodafone wasn't on the list of retailers. But it got fixed. You can't just change a contract like that.
Their servers are probably in a different time zone, so it didn't think the 15th was valid until after midnight in their data centre.
Yes it's working now. Just did mine for purchase on the 16th and it was validated within a couple of minutes.

How weird, glad it is working again though.
So I guess folks like me, living in the US, get nothing with their pre-order? I ordered mine on Sept. 30th.
Great to see that the offer is still being honoured and the bug is now fixed. Have just managed to claim my sister's pre-order headphones gift. Normal services can now be resumed ??
