MX Player works great, been using it for quite awhile now.
Dice works fine now... Used it a few hours ago to watch a video while making dinner...

I used moboplayer previously and have also been using mx since updating. It seems to work well so far.
Once xbmc is made compatible with tegra2 I will be switching to that though.

I just updated to EOS nightly 119 and dice player works like a charm. Even played a 720p mkv. It forced closed when I first opened it but I opened again and played various formats. Not even a stutter

Vplayer played the most formats for me, more than mx player

DicePlayer
Try DicePlayer. It's the best video player for XOOM, great speed, smb access and the only one with playback rate speed control.
At least its the best I could find (tried Mobo, MX, VP, etc...) since XOOM launched.
I would maybe try vlc player. And cross your fingers lol

The following players worked successfully on jelly bean:
-MX player
-bs player
-dice player
Unsuccessful----
-mvideo player
-mobo player
-rock player
-vlc player
Tested by me
Note: all tested apps were free versions

Really???... on my xoom mz601 JB 4.41 it crash!...Why???
I've tested the other two mentioned on JellyBean but still prefer Dice over both MX Video and Mobo. I have tried a variety of files.

Local streaming is my #1 by far. Essentially cutting my need to run a HDMI to laptop is the main reason I bought it lol.
As simple as 24p output from netflix, 60hz is terrible! Or am i missing something when 60hz is only I get...?

As the Chromecast picks up the URL of e.g. YouTube or Netflix and takes over the stream, it is unlikely to be able to stream audio to your phone at the same time.

Here is a list of Apps that are already working on CCast support
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromecast
As for what I would like to see....
1 - I would like to see the XBMC remote programs allow you to cast to Chromecast as a Target. But I think they would have to add transcoding to XBMC to do it well....
2 - Would like to see a good SCREEN CAST app which I think may in the end not require an APP because it will be native to Android.
3 - The Ability to leverage HDMI-CEC capabilities of Chromecast in an App to enable CCast to act as a Remote Control via IP. (But better would be an IR blaster port in the next generation CCast so those without HDMI-CEC setups can use it as well)
4 - Screen Mirroring support for PC outside of Chrome (Not really an App as much as a program for PC)
Twitch, undoubtedly my app I'd use the most.

I doubt that Dropbox would add casting to it's own app.
Whats funny is I looked at the DIAL homesite and saw the Bittorrent and uTorrent name registered in their database...So soon your Bittorrent client like Azureus or uTorrent may get the capability to stream to CCast.
Check out who has registered names and prefixes for DIAL support.
http://www.dial-multiscreen.org/dial-registry/namespace-database
twitch
lovefilm
blinkbox
BBC iPlayer and LoveFilm.
Although I understand they're both UK and the ChromeCast isn't out in the UK yet...so probably not going to be soon.
I do wonder how many Chromecasts are "live" in the UK though!

Good news for you...BBC has already registered the iPlayer with the DIAL Registry.
TBS has a bunch of names reserved as well one of which seems to be for NBA!

Would love to see a support for MX Player.

With Avia, every app that uses external player and supported file format automatically gets Chromecast support. Even BubbleUPNP can play through it. I am not even sure if I really need anything else.

Great Article! As great as the Chromecast is....It is the DIAL protocol itself that is what makes the device exciting and the Potential to change the way we do TV in the future.
Just imagine TVs with Two Way DIAL support...Whats on the TV can be sent to a second screen...
Or content from any device that supports DIAL can be sent to any TV.
No worrying about the Manufacturer keeping their smart Apps up to date anymore.

Does chromecast work with Movietube app?

Wondering if this app works with Chromecast?

The app gets the movies from YouTube.

It doesn't seem to be using the YouTube app in the phone, so no, chromecast doesn't seem to work with it.
Movie tube only does YouTube full length movies, bad quality most of the time and very limited selection.

[Q] live tv on chromecast?

Hi guys, was wondering if anyone had managed to find/get live tv on chromecast.. I have showbox and cartoonsHD streaming fine with avia but just can't find an app that has an option to open with. I would love tv catchup or filmon. To be able to cast.
Cheers
The BBC iPlayer mobile app lets you stream, via Chromecast, live TV in addition to the usual prerecorded programmes. Oddly you can only Chromecast prerecorded programmes via their website.
XDA frowns upon mentioning apps like Showbox, since it is considered a pirate app. With that being said have you tried to cast a tab with a live program from chrome? I have no idea if it would work, but it's worth a shot.

You can try this but it needs Bubble UpNP Server (In a PC) for transcoding : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8W02V0Y_Bq0&feature=youtu.be
Well this problem with the cord cutters may soon be solved...
US Supreme court heard arguments in ABC vs Aereo and if they rule in Aereo's favor I would expect them to expand their launch into many more regions than they are in now.
May not help those outside of the US but those within who want to cut the cord will be able to do so because Aereo has plans for CCast support.
It may even have it now I don't know as I am waiting for the court decision before I sign up.
Seems it can be done with the filmon app

I use BT app to get live BT Sport. Works a charm.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
You could try PlayOn (now available with free Chromecast!). But PlayOn relies on your PC to do the streaming and transcoding. For some other platforms like Roku you can use USTVNow to get a live feed of eastern time-zone networks, but it's a a fairly expensive subscription - and doesn't yet support native Chromecast.
Filmon has Chromecast support. There are many free channels. Some are good and some are crap. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.filmoncom.android

Also, if you use Plex, you can use the unsupported plugins. https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/25523-unsupported-as-in-totally-unofficial-appstore/
There are many which are also on xbmc, like "Navi-X". Some if the live channels work on Chromecast and some don't. Just have to play with it to find which ones do
