The nonhlos.bin should only be flashed to match the firmware you are using so example, if your already on MDL firmware and you flash mf3 modem you dont flash the nonnhlos.bin from the mf3 because the nonhlos.bin currently is mdl...if you then upgraded to an mf3 firmware then you would flash the mf3 non-hlos.bin

[Q] Base rom, modem, and CSC

I've been using Darky's ROM for a while, because it seemed really user friendly to install and had a lot of support for a new Android user. As I'm getting a little more comfortable, I'd like to create a custom ROM using the Rom Kitchen.
My question is, can someone clarify the difference between JVB, JVH, etc? Are these just firmware revisions (2.3.3, 2.3.4)? Also, I'm unsure of what the CSC and Modem are for...if I use the wrong one, will this prevent me from getting service in my country? I am on Bell Mobility in Canada...which CSC/Modem should I use?
Thanks!

Jvb, jvh etc are not different revisions, just different builds of the same firmware version, usually made for different regions. Each one is tweaked slightly differently to read the forums to get peoples opinions on each one.
The modem is the radio for 3g and wifi. Again, each is slightly tweaked for different regions so get views on which is best for you in the forum.
The csc handles the localization and adds the carriers and apns for different regions. Again, look in the forum for the one that covers your region.
Both modems and csc files can be flashed easily over any ROM from cwm.

Thanks, rschenck! For gingerbread, we currently have JVB and JVH correct? Are there any others?
So, if an app says "ported to JVH" does this mean that it won't work on JVB? Assuming that they are just different builds of the same firmware I would have assumed that it would work. Do you know of anywhere I can get information on which builds are currently released/available?
I understand the CSC and Modem clearly now, thank you

It means it will definetly work on jvh based roms. As for any other build, you would need to ask in the thread of the person who posted it.

[Q+A]Definitive Guide to GT P1010

So after following all of the forums with any info on this model of tab i noticed a lot of people asking the same questions, seeing as i have been tinkering and following devs progress I thought Id consolidate as much of the Q+A sprawled across the forums into one noob friendly place. So here goes.
What do we know?
Currently the only official roms are worldwide froyo 2.2.2 and EU gingerbread 2.3.6. The GB rom isnt out over the air everywhere yet so if your kies hasnt got the update and your feeling confident then you can pick up a copy from droidangel.blogspot http://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/05/samsung-galaxy-tab-wifi-p1010-original.html
With detailed instructions here http://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/05/how-to-flash-upgradeupdate-samsung.html Read, reread and READ AGAIN. It isn't difficult to do as long as you follow the instructions carefully.
Noteworthy info on flashing:
7zip should be used to unrar the downloaded roms as there are issues with other archive managers, the password is samfirmware.com
If you have connection problems with Odin its most likely driver issues its best to uninstall all kies software and drivers, reboot, install latest kies and connect your device, wait for drivers to install and then reboot again,
If you decide you don't like the rom you can flash stock firmware over it to downgrade and continue to get kies updates.
Is it worth doing?
I have been using 2.3.6 now for a few days and have no issues with light to moderate use, I have noticed a better looking interface(just small cosmetic differences) much faster browsing, and my quadrant went from 750 to 1400, If you have had a different experience please post. This update unfortunately doesn't fix the video out problem or the issue with skype using the front facing camera. In my opinion it isn't an update to write home about but it is worth doing.
Can I install it on a different region of tab?
There have been a few people who have successfully installed this rom on tabs from different regions so it is possible, If you have managed to do this please post your region and method As for trying to flash cross region, ask here and ill do my best to help.
As far as I know there are issues with installing on the Korean version due to hardware differences, more on that here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1376440
Can gingerbread for the P1010 be rooted?
Personally I have tried Z4Root, Zergrush and SuperOneClick all of which cant get root yet, Skin1980 is however working on a cf-root kernel here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386643 which will allow clockworkmod recovery, superuser(root) and busybox, Please note that at the current time if you flash skins cf-root you will have to reflash the entire firmware if you wish to rollback, This will do no harm as long as you read the forums and have an understanding of what your doing.
This is all the useful info I have managed to find so far, hopefully it can help anyone attempting to flash this long awaited upgrade,
A BIG THANKS to all the devs working on this device!! It is much appreciated.
WARNING: Failure to read and understand the instruction can lead to your device being irreversibly damaged, The different galaxy tab firmware comes in different versions according to Country, Region and Carrier providers. It is possible to brick your phone if you flash it with the wrong firmware which doesn't match your device.
You are warned, proceed at your own risk! We are not liable to any problems you have your device. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT IT ISN'T WORTH THE RISK.
GLHF GIEF THANKS!!
Available through kies
Came through my KIES today 21/12/11, I can comfirm that it is the same firmware as on droidangel.blogspot. My location is Northern Ireland UK.

Is it 2.3.6 or 2.3.3?
samfirmware says 2.3.3
Both the samfirmware and kies are 2.3.6 when installed, it must be a typo on sammobile.

Latest p1010 is kpo.value pack.
I'm still waiting for dev to make cf root base on it. (Maybe the last rom for p1010)..

Making a pre-rooted Deodexed lollipop firmware

How do you make a deodexed lollipop firmware, I would use one of the ones posted in the forums, but seems to have problems when I flash it to a UK handset, since we have just 4G over here and not LTE, also our base bands are different, hence the need to make one. I have been able to make a pre-rooted rom, so I am willing to do this as well, just not sure how I would go about it, I have done some searching but they talk about deodex apps not firmware that I can flash.
Any help would be appreciated.

just got my tmobile note 4 quick question

im sure its been answered before so sorry for the newb question. I just got my tmobile note 4 unlocked and im using att network. I am rooted sm-n910t with android version 4.4.4, bootloader version n910tuvu1anih, baseband n910tuvu1anih, build number ktu84p.n910tuvu1anih. can I just flash roms or do I update bootloader and stuff? thanks for any help.
It's recommended that you update to the latest official firmware before you flash a custom ROM. Custom ROMs do not update your baseband so accept any OTA updates available before flashing a custom recovery and ROM.

You will need to use Odin to put the correct base off whatever ROM you want to flash before you flash it. If you want to use a 4.4.4 like FireKat you wouldn't need to do anything. If you wanted to flash a 5.0.1 ROM like Poprocks, you would need to use Odin to put the 5.0.1 firmware on your phone before you flash the new Rom. Also note you'll have to re root your device after you Odin stock firmware.

Changing N920i Firmware

I currently have a N920i from Telstra (Australia) and I was wondering if it is possible to flash the non carrier firmware onto it instead of the having the Telstra firmware? Reason being Telstra take forever with their software updates. If possible, what are the drawbacks?
you cannot change ur kernel or baseband..however u can chnge rom(custom rom like dr.ketan's rom) and that would block ota updates.. So you cannot do anything brother...
Download an official Singapore rom from sammobile. Do the one without any attached version name like singtel, if that makes sense. It will change your kernel. But not your baseband. I'm not sure if this would trip knox however. But I did flash mine to Telstra but I didn't like it because it doesn't feel right. And flashed back. As mines an international version but not from Telstra
Thanks for the feedback, I don't want to trip Knox or anything so I think I'll just leave it be. Thanks anyway guys
Flashing a pure stock rom (eg from Sammobile) through Odin will not trip Knox. I have done that several times. Make sure you only flash one for your device model - the N920i
