[Q] Windows cannot recognise my HTC when in bootloader - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using the HTC One Toolkit but when I select the "Get Token ID" option, I am taken to the bootloader but I get the following message on my laptop...

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",

}
I installed the correct drivers and have even followed this post with no luck. I also tried different USB cables but no luck there. I even formatted my laptop, re-installed windows 8 and installed all the correct drivers. But nothing seems to be fixing this issue.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
P.S. I have 4 USB ports and they all say "SS" above them (with one saying "SS" with a lightning icon next to it), so I'm not sure if they're USB 3.0 or 2.0.

If the USB ports are blue then they're USB 3 and which may be the cause of the problem you're experiencing.... SS probably means superspeed which is USB 3

Well none of them are blue but a Google search shows that they're ALL usb 3.0
I'm currently trying an alternative method I found in the link I posted in my OP.

GT to Win7-64... can't see each other

Alright, I have had my Tab for nearly a month, but never bothered trying to physically shuffle data from my pc or my seagate goflex satellite hdd.
If I plug the satellite into my tab, nothing happens. It can't see the drive. This means that the only way to get anything is through the wireless AP built into the harddrive. This is frustrating if I want to physically move files, not just stream.
If I plug my tab into my win7-64 laptop, again NOTHING happens. The drivers validated, windows says it understands that it is there, but I cannot mount the hdd on the tab, nor can I even see that it is there except for "drivers installed".
What the hell do I do?
Getting all sorts of pissed!
Do I need to root my tab first or something? Put a different OS-mod on it?
Install Kies....
There is no Kies for PC. t_t It's MAC only.
It's definitely not mac only.

Mac version is relatively new, it's been there for Windows for months before that. And, to be honest, Kies is Samsung own software to manage devices, even my mother's Corby installed that horrible thing.

Open samsung webpage. Download kies for window. Install it and you are good to go

Be sure before saying such ****!!
There it's a windows version of lite in usa. The full version is international but can be downloaded and installed on windows. Problem its not for x64. That it what I am on and when I try to connect it says put device in kies mode. Called support and that is what they told me.
Could be wrong but I gave up. Even setup into dev mode but still did not work.
I don't think you should need it for external drive as mine came right up . I was told needed it for root.
You absolutely don't need it for root, and couldn't use it for drive mapping. Win 7 has native drivers to communicate with tab.
Settongs, applications, development ---> check debugging.
Then connect to your pc.

What should be done to get access again in PC?
Set USB debugging on. Plugin phone. You should see a popup on the top of the screen asking you to mount your sdcard.
Those actions were done. As you could see from the screenshot, he was able to use adb shell via usb connection. But "ls /sdcard" shows nothing but returning to #.

Where is the screenshot?
From here the Post 1 shows a picture.
Anyway, I uploaded to another host.
Looks like there is nothing in the "sdcard"

PS: the Rom was downloaded from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17411481&postcount=987

i hade the same issue. i thought it was hardware, but its the rom. i had miui 1.9.9 and it wouldnt even charge via usb. so i eyeballed the usb port and it was fine, so i switched to LGB 1.whatever. then the usb mounting worked agian, but the charging still did not work so i switched to OMFG and that did the trick. then i charged my phone overnight on a 12v charger and my phone never booted agian. good thing im due for an upgrade!
Some times my phone don't access to the sdcard when I have activated usb debug

I think I bricked my Tab?

It is showing a small round mobile phone, 2 dots, a ! inside an orange triangle, 2 more dots, and a computer.
This is the first time I'm seeing this screen.
Edit: Just to give some insight as to what I was doing...
I was using a SGT7 build of CM9, and I noticed USB Tethering wasn't working (native nor Wired Tether 1.4 worked). I had to run to a friends house for the night real fast, so I figured I'd just go back to Stock firmware and use that for a few hours just so my desktop could get Internet.
I am also using Windows 8 Release Preview. Odin could see my device fine, but upon pressing Start to start the flashing process, it did nothing (I'm guessing Odin or Samsung's drivers don't work well on W8RP). No progress was made on either Odin or my tab for about 5 minutes. Since nothing was done, I figured I could close Odin, and restart my Tab. Now I only get this screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I immediately went to the "How To Unbrick Your Galaxy Tab!" thread, but didn't find mention of the screen I described in this post, and then I made this post in panic.
When I went back to Windows 7, Odin was able to reflash my tab successfully, and USB Tethering was working fine. So perhaps Windows 8 has some weird incompatibility with Samsung Drivers? In any case, this might serve as a warning to anyone trying to use Odin in Windows 8.
I think it was mentioned in a few threads.
Many confirmed that it is another download mode.
You just have to make sure it is fully charged, and keep trying Odin restocking. It will go through.
(I never experienced it myself)
Edit: many reference, just search in here fore "phone exclamation pc"
Yea it would seem it's another download mode. I was able to flash with Odin just fine in Windows 7, so all is well again
i have said this in many threads. this is the result of faulty flashing. just use the latest version of odin
please thank me if you found this helpful

HTC Vivid bootloader will not unlock! (HTCdev method)

I just bought a HTC Vivid and am trying to root but I cannot unlock the bootloader. I am doing everything according to HTCdev.com but when I get to the CMD part it will not send the code. I copy and paste it just like it tells me to but instead of sending the code, it says waiting for device? Me and this guy (more experienced than me) have been stumped for the last 3 days.
are you using the cord that came with the phone? what operating system is the computer you are trying to use? are you plugged into a usb on the back of the motherboard? And if you are in hboot what does it show on your screen?

No but I am using a Samsung cord with USB capabilities. I have windows 7. Yes I am plugged into the USB port on my phone. It shows "FASTBOOT USB"
Try the original cord and a different port. May also check you have the right drivers installed

I have HTC Sync drivers installed and I'm not sure where I can get a oem cord. Really don't to spend money and buy one on the internet. I have also tried all the usb ports on my computer. My computer is a Gateway NV55S03u if it helps.
Reinstall or install android SDK and make its working perfectly that is your problem.

When you boot into bootloader mode, and choose Fastboot, then connect your phone to the PC USB, run "fastboot devices" to see if the phone is recognized. It should return a line with some info... should look almost like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If it returns nothing, then maybe you just need to reinstall the drivers (as said above).

I had downloaded the wrong android sdk files. I downloaded jelly bean when I needed ICS. Now I'm installing the ICS files. I will let you know if it works.

Flashingproblems with CMW

Hey guys,
Today i bought the SGS 1 from a friend just for flashing and fooling around a bit (i am not a developer i just enjoy flashing and trying different ROMs and also beeing able to give feedback )
So my primary phone is a htc vision (desire z) and there i only flash with CMW
after some reading i rooted the SGS via z4root.apk cus he still was/is on 2.2
No problem with that, now i have superuser, all good and nice, then i googled what recovery app i can use on samsung devices, and it turned out that i can use my beloved CMW. after 2min i had it installed and the recovery thing flashed and now i wanted to reboot into recovery mode and here is where i have my problem.
I can't choose a zip file
After searching here on xda a bit i couln't find any similar problem so i started this thread
My CMW looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The phone specs are:
Firmware-Version: 2.2
Kernel-Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Buildnumber: FROYO.XWJPA
I hope someone could help me

//EDIT: so i did some research and some trial and error
And it all comes down to one main problem:
My pc wont recognise the sgs, neither as a mount of sdcard (usb debugging) nor with kies or odin
Any idea why? I tried two different cables and still nothing works
Kinda despair here :/

If you have installed drivers, try different usb ports.

Tried it and didn't work :/
My PC doesnt recognise it, also when on debugging (as said) but it somehow recognises that some usb device is connected (the icon for safe-remove on the right bottom pops up)
Could it be that i only got the usb cable from my htc, cus the original usb cable is still at my friend's place.
Greets Vauvenal7
Could fix it
Reason why it wasnt recognized was because it was rooted
Opend the z4root app again, did unroot it and booom, it was recognized
