[VIDEO] Phone to Chromecast App Coming Soon? - Google Chromecast

"Google's $35 Chromecast fared well in our review, but something that could make it even more useful is the ability to stream pictures and video from mobile devices. Users have been able to work around that on PCs by entering info for locally stored files into the Chrome address bar, and now ClockworkMod developer Koushik Dutta is showing off a solution for mobile that closes the gap with AirPlay. Demonstrated in the video after the break, his Phone to Chromecast app can fling pictures or videos stored on the phone directly to the dongle -- apparently thanks to web server software he'd already created for Android. There's no specific word on the codecs or resolutions tested, but he reports videos work at full framerate "like magic." The only bad news? The preview SDK terms mean he can't distribute the APK without written permission from Google, so this demo is as close as we're getting for now."

Sorry, YouTube tag wasn't working.

Let's just hope either Google agrees to push it through! Sounds awesome though.

could only take month

Do you guys think Google will actually approve it though?

Could this be integrated as a general 'share' feature with other apps like gallery, quickpic, etc?

My fear is that if they don't approve it, and it gets released anyway, Google will take steps to block it to appease content providers like HBO, Vudu, or whoever else they're trying to get onboard.

Outstanding........

hope google will approve this

So this would be similar to Samsung's AllCast? I know allcast uses DLNA while this uses a webserver, but functionally it would offer the same ability.
It seems with this method it could be easier to connect with and cast networked shares.

[Q] Netflix.apk from system dump of LG Revolution

Hi everybody.
Today I found this news. It has LG Revolution system files. Also those guys found there Netflix.apk. I tried on my Nexus One with ROM CM7 Nigthly 18. It's installed and even accept my login and password. After that I could see my Queue, but if I tried to load any movie it always doesn't show anything and sometime shows error message.
"Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems persists please visit netflix.com. (1005)"
I know that according to the news my hardware should support DRM libraries and Nexus hardware doesn't support it.
So my question below. Is it possible to made something that this apk start works and shows movies.
View attachment Netflix.apk
Original of the article on androidcentral. I couldn't insert link here, but article has been published today.
i like where this is going...
I'm trying this.
Some people are thinking that Netflix hasn't flipped the switch to get this running until the device which supports it is released.

Same thing on my wife's Optimus S. I didn't have high expectations going in...however, it does allow me to see my Queue, and add movies to it... which is awesome. Can't wait for the day I can watch movies on an Android Tablet will be great for travel!

[Q] clear.fi for Xoom

Has there been a app dump of the Acer A500. I'm trying to get the clear.fi apk. I would like to try it for streaming video over the network. The A500 at my local best buy didn't have a google account so I couldn't use astro to backup the app and upload it to my dropbox.

Lol never thought of that. Trying a unit and upload some apk's
Anyway will post some extractions of the Iconia when the new forum for the Acer is opened.
cool
I was in the store and the clear.fi app was seeing all the PC's on the best buy network. Only problem none of them were sharing video. So I thought let me try to back it up a send it to my dropbox so I could share with the xda fam. But it was a no go. I guess they didn't have time to setup the market.
Here is the app I have a acer a500 if you need anything.

Google Maps Service Discontinued on Samsung SmartTV's!

I just tried to start my Geo-Photo App on my Samsung SmartTV and I get a message saying that Google Maps Service from Google Inc. has been discontinued. See the attached Image in German.
Rough english Translation:
"Through ending of the Google Maps Service from Google Inc., the Geo-Photo Application, starting from the 20. April 2012, is no longer available."
I wonder if this is just the Geo-Photo App or if other Apps on Samsung SmartTV are impacted by this?
I didn't know Google Maps was actually running on TVs.
Aw dangit.
Now I can't carry around my 50" TV to find out where the nearest restaraunt is anymore.

Hihi, obviously you never used Geo-Photo. If you belief it or not, finding the nearest Restaurant is not the only use for Google Maps. As a matter of fact I never use Google Maps outside. But just wait a few Years until you want to show your Kids the Pictures from your past. Good luck finding out in a folder with thousands of pictures where and when the picture was taken. Being able to pull it up on a 46" inch TV with all your trips automatically shown is a great way to show pictures to your kids. Even for me it was interessting to see where I took a particular picture. Especially the ones when I am flying. Luckely I have been using Geotagging since my BlueAngel. So the past 10 Years I can view on a Map where I have taken a picture which was absolutely great. I can still use Flickr or Google Earth on a connected PC to view the same thing but the App was quicker and easier to handle. It was one of the few apps I used regularly on my TV.

any free note program better than the existing note on 8.9?

are there any free note/word document program on android market? if yes, what are their name? the reason i'm asking it, the existing note program on samsung sux. it only holds up to 1500/characters per document. thx in advance.
I highly recommend Evernote their tablet interface is really nice, you can sync notes between devices, save images, audio and rich text notes. The downside is that you have to register to their site and the free account has a transfer limit of 60MB/month.
But so far, I've really liked it and been using it extensively in my phone and tablet.

If you are like me, and like to be able to jot down something in handwritten text, I recommend Quill. Either buy on Play Store or download the same version from Google Code for free at this address:
