IPhone constantly telling me "overheating" even though it's not - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so having this issue with my phone...for some reason the past few days it constantly giving me an overheating warning...now the hottest my phone had reached was about 115°f under heavy stress...but it's giving me the warning even when the phone temp is in the 70s or 80s f....thought it was Rom related...factory reset a few times and have tried a few rims out...the only thing that has changed is I went from an otterbox commuter to and Uag case...but I just don't understand why it would give me warnings when the phones not even hot
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

Have you used an app to monitor the temperature? If you have done a factory reset and have went back to all stock, it might be a defect.

Yeah using gsam....I mean right now I'm surfing and downloading and its sitting at 99°....the phone itself doesn't even feel hot to the touch...I'm wondering if the case is messing with phones warning system
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

Check your GSAM alarms. Menu > preferences > alarms > temp higher than... I set it to 48 C. That's about the borderline for me.

1% Battery Discharge Every 2 Minutes

Hi,
I had V10F now im at V10H (same problem)
My battery life decreasing literally by the minute, when I hold the phone with nothing running, just looking at the screen I get 1% battery decrease in about every 2-3 minutes.
I got the phone with V10F and now upgraded to H and did Factory reset, nothing changed.
Is this a common bug?
Thanks
Install better battery stats and check what is draining ur battery. And it ain't sounds like a bad battery. But better battery stats should help u determine what is causing the issue.

Whats the best app to see which apps takes the most battery?
I think it was a mistake to sell my Galaxy Note for X4, I never had such serious battery issues and I always assumed that in regular non gaming, non multimedia use the tegra3 will use the 5th LP core.
what a disappointment.
Now It stopped connecting to WiFi N networks for some reason

Hi Dante501: I have Better Battery Stats installed on my mobile. I am able to check the battery loss since unplugged, boot, etc.
However, BBS app does not show the name of app that took maximum battery, etc. The other app sugggested on XDA Easy Battery Saver does show the detailed information. EBS has some in-mobile advts which I clicked quite often and get charged for some useless services. I have unisntalled and have only BBS.
Is there some other apps that gives the details as to which app too how much percentage, and so on. That will be very useful. Thanks in advance for your suggestions/info.

Im not sure its possible, after I updated the ROM I did factory reset and format
Well unless its one of the Lg apps.
Im going to use the guide and disable all of them
Any ideas what can affect wifi? I mean if it connects to G but not N its not broken rihgt?
P.S. I also noticed that X4 has no WiFiN 5Hz support, when I used Note it always found my 5Ghz SSID and I was able to connect.
X4 wont even find it, it finds 2.4Ghz N but trys to connect and then nothing.
was working fine 2 days ago. with occasional issues, I had to off/on the wifi before It could connect to N network.
Now it wont connect at all.

I don't know what you guys are doing with the phone but, mine last for more than two days last time I need to charge it, using GPS for 45min.+/-, normal calls 30min.+/- and about 45min. total in the internet (checking emails, facebook, playstore and xda app).
Today I almost didn't use it, only one call, about 5 min., I play a race in NFS, around 5min., check the playstore for news and updates 10min.,
and I have 80% of charge...

Is the phone temperature really that high?

Hello, I've been reading about this phone and i noticed that everyone is talking about this phone heating even after just browsing web and that CPU temperature is higher than on other smartphones.
One user said that he has the CPU temperature of about 65 C when browsing web and that it is usually like that.
In my country it is 40 C in the summer and it is very very hot. Do you think that that will be a problem if I get the device?
What are your cpu and battery temperatures?

Got XZ in my hand right now, I tried the HTC one in the shop when I was testing both devices before deciding with one to buy, the htc one got hotter doing exactly the same things.
Hmmm.... Okay! That why your signature is always sent from p990?
Never the less the XZ is a great phone, I just cant deal with dead pixels, they make me ill (99% won't even notice dead pixels with PPI as high as the display on the Z, I just have sharp eyes). Definitely gonna give Sony another go in the future. Will be sad to see my XZ go back next friday.
Its one of the most beautiful phones I've seen. The temp isn't that bad and since .434 update its alot less toasty, just gets warm (not scoulding) and as has been said, if the cpu does get too hot, the phone will shut down (That wont ever happen though).

If you're familiar with Game Center on iOS, it's pretty much the Android version of that, as far as I know.
The best part is that it seems that app data syncs through the cloud

Hi just passing through looking at other forums. You're really wrong, Google now does little to nothing to your battery. Leaving GPS and other such things is what drains the battery. Leaving GPS on does nothing to the battery. It only affects battery if an app is using it. Google Now does impact battery life, like it or not. It has a location reporter that's been proven to drain battery, and think about it. It constantly has up to date data, so it has to use battery to be refreshing it so much.

Well a lot of IOS users are convinced judging by the recent headlines. I don't buy googles claims either, unless it uses magic pixie fairy dust for power, there's definate drain on the battery.
I'll keep all the crap turned off and enjoy my 6 hours sot thanks
I'm dead. Lol Google now is the main reason why my battery dies. Not having GPS on, not playing emulators all day, not having NFC on, not having a long screen time, not using my camera to take picture, not other things. Its Google now. Better leave a obscene comment on the play store.

I think it is because it regularly checks for your location even it is just using WiFi/Mobile Network location it seems to clearly drain my battery. Unless if you disable Location Access to Google services then maybe it won't drain so much that we all complains.

Only thing I can really think of is on my oldddd Blackberry Curve.... Slider keyboard phones where definitely easier to play games that you could custom map buttons for emulators. Unfortunately the slide became loose and sloppy over time and the choice of cases was hideous. My evo shift was a nice phone but the screen was too small and the custom recovery, at the time, wouldn't allow to fully shut the phone down and charge. You could shut the phone down but as soon as you plugged it in to charge, the phone would fully power up. Great phone, but screen too small for viewing comfortably.

When charging my phone the plug burnt and melted

Last night I forgot to charge my phone, so I plugged it in on the way to work and notice the charge light went out on the phone and when I checked the plug to see if it came out out was hot and melting. When I got to the job I plugged it in with a wall charger thinking the car charger went bad and it was doing the same thing. I figured I'll turn the phone off to save my battery to transfer stuff to the computer when I get home to take it to sprint, I decided to try it again while it was off and now it's not doing it even now I turned the phone back on.
In running the latest 42one rom no custom kernel, I guess whatever was going on isn't happening because it rebooted now.
Anyone ever experience this issue, now I'm afraid to leave it plugged in when I go to bed if it happens again, there isn't no point in taking it to sprint because I'm not able to show them what was happening.

The OP probably was using the OEM charger, so I think this is a rarity, but a word of caution to everyone: Not all USB chargers are made the same. You should only use high quality OEM charges for your phones, there's no reason to have a fire hazard to save a couple bucks on a charger.
This happened to me a couple of days. I got to work and plugged it in as usual. After a few minutes i noticed the red light went out. I noticed the bottom of the phone was really warm so i unplugged it and the tip of the charger burnt the crap out of my fingers.
I tried other charges and they didn't work and my Mophie won't charge my phone anymore so just like the OP, I ran a Nandroid back-up along with a Titanium back-up preparing to have to swap it out and then having to worry about getting it s-off'd.
As of today, it's charging with another charger but i did scrape the charging port with a needle because it looked like it might have had some char on it.
Fingers crossed!

Oh and this isn't a "Butterfly" whatever that is; that started happening after flashing ViperOne.

Yea, on 42one Rom with the kernel that's built in that Rom that I believe is stock.

That's not the OEM charger thus the issue. When I used a cheap charger with my old HTC HD7 it some how was corrupting the digitizer causing the screen to stutter not allowing me to unlock

That's most likely attributed to a bad ground on the charger

Most likely a bad rectifier that's allowing some noise on the (what should be) clean DC.
Dirty DC will cause all sorts of ugly on a digital device.

I had a similar problem with my first One. I was charging it on a crappy work computer, and one of the points got zapped. I could still charge my phone from a plug-in, but it wouldn't connect to any computer. $50 later (thanks Sprint), I had a brand new phone. That I may or may not have promptly bricked.
