It is for stock based rom and
for custom roms you don't need to replace our delete anything, just copy, set permissions and reboot

I use stock AT&T rom, but can't find those files.

Is it possible to use the X camera with the stock gallery, or is it like a package deal?

Does it work on 4.0?

I have stock 4.1.1 and this apk is not working on it

On stock MX 4.1.2 I found MotCamera.apk and MotGallery2.apk in /system/app
EDIT: I used root explorer to rename the files. Copied the OP links to phone, set permissions. Went into settings>apps, cleaned, cleared and closed, camera and gallery apps. Rebooted, tested working great. Thanks!
ADD: I guess you could flash this one too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425531

if you reboot your phone, does the help screen displayed again? for me it's like the camera setting being reset everytime I reboot my phone.

Does this work on kitkat too?

Look for the new Moto x 2014 camera app. I'm using it now on aosb kitkat.

Also, you should be able to use the CM11s (oneplus one) camera on our CM11.
Sent from my MB886 CM10.2/4.3.1

I tried out the 2014, and its a no go, both manually with permissions and just installing it.
Looks like it its only for pure AOSP and Stock roms.
Since mine is SOKP (Usually built from CM) it just doesn't run.

Won't install on CM11 for me. Need a camera with the ability to save to ext sd

Yessir, from .893 update I performed this morning. =) And I noticed a huge improvement in shutter speed as well.
Can we take this APK and replace our current one? I'm on the stock ROM and rooted... ?
Should work... just rename or make a backup copy of the stock apk.

I'm evidently too noob to figure this out. I located the camera app in \system\app but it can't be moved or anything. Probably need to force it through ADP I'm assuming?
I believe /system/app is r/o by default, so you'd need to remount the filesystem r/w before you can make any modifications to the files. Root Explorer would probably be the easiest way to accomplish the task at hand, or of course do it all through ADB....
I renamed the original BlurCamera.apk and tried installing the downloaded Camera, but it says the application was not installed. Originally I tried installing it from my SD card, so I tried moving it to system\app to install it, but I receive the same message: "application was not installed." I renamed the original Camera back to its original name, moved the downloaded Camera back to my SD card, and now I can't even install the original Camera.
So now I'm completely out of a Camera app, lol. What did I do wrong?

I'm a big fan of the bionic camera now that it's been fixed. Quality is great and it actually takes the pic when you want it to.

Same here. I did try changing the permissions and rebooted. I wound up just doing a clean install of everything because I was needing to anyway. However, I would still like to know why this does not work because I would prefer a camera different from the Atrix camera on Reblurred 2.0.

It's the DX camera on Reblurred. But yeah, I'll reflash this tonight and see if I can get it. I've put several different cameras on different ROMs and never had an issue, so I'll see if I can figure it out.
For the camera to work need to include the odex file as well. Should be BlurCamera.odex

Yes.. I changed the permissions to rw-r-r But I am still unable to install it. Its not your upload because I have my original file (but froze it with antex and then had to to a sustem restore) do I have to instal the odex too?

No I didnt try it because Im still runing on ICS... trying to get all my aps in place in order to upgrade. However... browser and attandresbook are a no go... App was not installed is the error I get...
EDIT: The way to go was copy and paste the app to the system folder, change permisions and restart. Simply instaling did not work. Peremisions should be rw-r-r.

Mms.apk on Cyanfox 4.4.2?

I hate how much hangouts lag and I know that the 8sms app from the play store is pretty close to a stock messaging app, but does anyone know why installing the mms.apk from CM11 or Gummy 4.4.2 wouldn't work? On both of them I get an "App not installed" message when I try to run them straight out of es file explorer. Is there something that I am missing?

No problem. The error was caused by the file permissions. Repackaging the ROM with that apk is the fast, easy, and painless way of getting it installed with the proper permissions.

For future reference, you can drop the APK in /system/app then go into CWM > advanced > fix permissions.

Not working on minicm

If it's not already in the devices device-tree and added in the rom or added by somebody already and working then probably not going to work.
It's already been mentioned in threads about FM radio not working.
